출애굽기 3

1. 모세가 그 장인 미디안 제사장 이드로의 양 무리를 치더니 그 무리를 광야 서편으로 인도하여 하나님의 산 호렙에 이르매
  Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

2. 여호와의 사자가 떨기나무 불꽃 가운데서 그에게 나타나시니라 그가 보니 떨기나무에 불이 붙었으나 사라지지 아니하는지라
  There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

3. 이에 가로되 내가 돌이켜 가서 이 큰 광경을 보리라 떨기나무가 어찌하여 타지 아니하는고 하는 동시에
  So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight--why the bush does not burn up."

4. 여호와께서 그가 보려고 돌이켜 오는 것을 보신지라 하나님이 떨기나무 가운데서 그를 불러 가라사대 모세야 모세야 하시매 그가 가로되 내가 여기 있나이다
  When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am."

5. 하나님이 가라사대 이리로 가까이 하지 말라 너의 선 곳은 거룩한 땅이니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라
  "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."

6. 또 이르시되 나는 네 조상의 하나님이니 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이니라 모세가 하나님 뵈옵기를 두려워하여 얼굴을 가리우매
  Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

7. 여호와께서 가라사대 내가 애굽에 있는 내 백성의 고통을 정녕히 보고 그들이 그 간역자로 인하여 부르짖음을 듣고 그 우고를 알고
  The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.

8. 내가 내려와서 그들을 애굽인의 손에서 건져내고 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 지방에 이르려 하노라
  So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey--the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

9. 이제 이스라엘 자손의 부르짖음이 내게 달하고 애굽 사람이 그들을 괴롭게 하는 학대도 내가 보았으니
  And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.

10. 이제 내가 너를 바로에게 보내어 너로 내 백성 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내게 하리라
  So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

11. 모세가 하나님께 고하되 내가 누구관대 바로에게 가며 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내리이까
  But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

12. 하나님이 가라사대 내가 정녕 너와 함께 있으리라 네가 백성을 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 후에 너희가 이 산에서 하나님을 섬기리니 이것이 내가 너를 보낸 증거니라
  And God said, "I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain."

13. 모세가 하나님께 고하되 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 가서 이르기를 너희 조상의 하나님이 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하면 그들이 내게 묻기를 그의 이름이 무엇이냐 하리니 내가 무엇이라고 그들에게 말하리이까
  Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"

14. 하나님이 모세에게 이르시되 나는 스스로 있는 자니라 또 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 스스로 있는 자가 나를 너희에게 보내셨다 하라
  God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

15. 하나님이 또 모세에게 이르시되 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 이같이 이르기를 나를 너희에게 보내신 이는 너희 조상의 하나님 곧 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님 여호와라 하라 이는 나의 영원한 이름이요 대대로 기억할 나의 표호니라
  God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

16. 너는 가서 이스라엘 장로들을 모으고 그들에게 이르기를 여호와 너희 조상의 하나님 곧 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 하나님이 내게 나타나 이르시되 내가 실로 너희를 권고하여 너희가 애굽에서 당한 일을 보았노라
  "Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob--appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.

17. 내가 말하였거니와 내가 너희를 애굽의 고난 중에서 인도하여 내어 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 땅으로 올라가게 하리라 하셨다 하면
  And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites--a land flowing with milk and honey.'

18. 그들이 네 말을 들으리니 너는 그들의 장로들과 함께 애굽 왕에게 이르기를 히브리 사람의 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 임하셨은즉 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와께 희생을 드리려 하오니 사흘 길쯤 광야로 가기를 허락하소서 하라
  "The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God.'

19. 내가 아노니 강한 손으로 치기 전에는 애굽 왕이 너희의 가기를 허락지 아니하다가
  But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him.

20. 내가 내 손을 들어 애굽 중에 여러 가지 이적으로 그 나라를 친 후에야 그가 너희를 보내리라
  So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

21. 내가 애굽 사람으로 이 백성에게 은혜를 입히게 할찌라 너희가 갈 때에 빈손으로 가지 아니하리니
  "And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed.

22. 여인마다 그 이웃 사람과 및 자기 집에 우거하는 자에게 은 패물과 금 패물과 의복을 구하여 너희 자녀를 꾸미라 너희가 애굽 사람의 물품을 취하리라
  Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians."

누가복음 6

1. 안식일에 예수께서 밀밭 사이로 지나가실쌔 제자들이 이삭을 잘라 손으로 비비어 먹으니
  One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.

2. 어떤 바리새인들이 말하되 어찌하여 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하느뇨
  Some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"

3. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 다윗이 자기와 및 함께 한 자들이 시장할 때에 한 일을 읽지 못하였느냐
  Jesus answered them, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

4. 그가 하나님의 전에 들어가서 다만 제사장 외에는 먹지 못하는 진설병을 집어먹고 함께 한 자들에게도 주지 아니하였느냐
  He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."

5. 또 가라사대 인자는 안식일의 주인이니라 하시더라
  Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

6. 또 다른 안식일에 예수께서 회당에 들어가사 가르치실쌔 거기 오른손 마른 사람이 있는지라
  On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.

7. 서기관과 바리새인들이 예수를 송사할 빙거를 찾으려 하여 안식일에 병 고치시는가 엿보니
  The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.

8. 예수께서 저희 생각을 아시고 손 마른 사람에게 이르시되 일어나 한가운데 서라 하시니 저가 일어나 서거늘
  But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Get up and stand in front of everyone." So he got up and stood there.

9. 예수께서 저희에게 이르시되 내가 너희에게 묻노니 안식일에 선을 행하는 것과 악을 행하는 것 생명을 구하는 것과 멸하는 것 어느 것이 옳으냐 하시며
  Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"

10. 무리를 둘러보시고 그 사람에게 이르시되 네 손을 내밀라 하시니 저가 그리하매 그 손이 회복된지라
  He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was completely restored.

11. 저희는 분기가 가득하여 예수를 어떻게 처치할 것을 서로 의논하니라
  But they were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

12. 이 때에 예수께서 기도하시러 산으로 가사 밤이 맟도록 하나님께 기도하시고
  One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

13. 밝으매 그 제자들을 부르사 그 중에서 열둘을 택하여 사도라 칭하셨으니
  When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:

14. 곧 베드로라고도 이름 주신 시몬과 및 그 형제 안드레와 및 야고보와 요한과 빌립과 바돌로매와
  Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,

15. 마태와 도마와 및 알패오의 아들 야고보와 및 셀롯이라 하는 시몬과
  Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot,

16. 및 야고보의 아들 유다와 및 예수를 파는 자 될 가룟 유다라
  Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

17. 예수께서 저희와 함께 내려오사 평지에 서시니 그 제자의 허다한 무리와 또 예수의 말씀도 듣고 병 고침을 얻으려고 유대 사방과 예루살렘과 및 두로와 시돈의 해안으로부터 온 많은 백성도 있더라
  He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coast of Tyre and Sidon,

18. 더러운 귀신에게 고난받는 자들도 고침을 얻은지라
  who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by evil spirits were cured,

19. 온 무리가 예수를 만지려고 힘쓰니 이는 능력이 예수께로 나서 모든 사람을 낫게 함이러라
  and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

20. 예수께서 눈을 들어 제자들을 보시고 가라사대 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 하나님의 나라가 너희 것임이요
  Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

21. 이제 주린 자는 복이 있나니 너희가 배부름을 얻을 것임이요 이제 우는 자는 복이 있나니 너희가 웃을 것임이요
  Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

22. 인자를 인하여 사람들이 너희를 미워하며 멀리하고 욕하고 너희 이름을 악하다 하여 버릴 때에는 너희에게 복이 있도다
  Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

23. 그 날에 기뻐하고 뛰놀라 하늘에서 너희 상이 큼이라 저희 조상들이 선지자들에게 이와 같이 하였느니라
  "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

24. 그러나 화 있을찐저 너희 부요한 자여 너희는 너희의 위로를 이미 받았도다
  "But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.

25. 화 있을찐저 너희 이제 배부른 자여 너희는 주리리로다 화 있을 찐저 너희 이제 웃는 자여 너희가 애통하며 울리로다
  Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

26. 모든 사람이 너희를 칭찬하면 화가 있도다 저희 조상들이 거짓 선지자들에게 이와 같이 하였느니라
  Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

27. 그러나 너희 듣는 자에게 내가 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 미워하는 자를 선대하며
  "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

28. 너희를 저주하는 자를 위하여 축복하며 너희를 모욕하는 자를 위하여 기도하라
  bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

29. 네 이 뺨을 치는 자에게 저 뺨도 돌려 대며 네 겉옷을 빼앗는 자에게 속옷도 금하지 말라
  If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.

30. 무릇 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네 것을 가져가는 자에게 다시 달라지 말며
  Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

31. 남에게 대접을 받고자 하는 대로 너희도 남을 대접하라
  Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32. 너희가 만일 너희를 사랑하는 자를 사랑하면 칭찬받을 것이 무엇이뇨 죄인들도 사랑하는 자를 사랑하느니라
  "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them.

33. 너희가 만일 선대하는 자를 선대하면 칭찬받을 것이 무엇이뇨 죄인들도 이렇게 하느니라
  And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that.

34. 너희가 받기를 바라고 사람들에게 빌리면 칭찬받을 것이 무엇이뇨 죄인들도 의수히 받고자 하여 죄인에게 빌리느니라
  And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full.

35. 오직 너희는 원수를 사랑하고 선대하며 아무것도 바라지 말고 빌리라 그리하면 너희 상이 클 것이요 또 지극히 높으신 이의 아들이 되리니 그는 은혜를 모르는 자와 악한 자에게도 인자로우시니라
  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

36. 너희 아버지의 자비하심같이 너희도 자비하라
  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37. 비판치 말라 그리하면 너희가 비판을 받지 않을 것이요 정죄하지 말라 그리하면 너희가 정죄를 받지 않을 것이요 용서하라 그리하면 너희가 용서를 받을 것이요
  "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

38. 주라 그리하면 너희에게 줄 것이니 곧 후히 되어 누르고 흔들어 넘치도록 하여 너희에게 안겨 주리라 너희의 헤아리는 그 헤아림으로 너희도 헤아림을 도로 받을 것이니라
  Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

39. 또 비유로 말씀하시되 소경이 소경을 인도할 수 있느냐 둘이 다 구덩이에 빠지지 아니하겠느냐
  He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?

40. 제자가 그 선생보다 높지 못하나 무릇 온전케 된 자는 그 선생과 같으리라
  A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

41. 어찌하여 형제의 눈 속에 있는 티는 보고 네 눈 속에 있는 들보는 깨닫지 못하느냐
  "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

42. 너는 네 눈 속에 있는 들보를 보지 못하면서 어찌하여 형제에게 말하기를 형제여 나로 네 눈 속에 있는 티를 빼게 하라 할 수 있느냐 외식하는 자여 먼저 네 눈 속에서 들보를 빼어라 그 후에야 네가 밝히 보고 형제의 눈 속에 있는 티를 빼리라
  How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

43. 못된 열매 맺는 좋은 나무가 없고 또 좋은 열매 맺는 못된 나무가 없느니라
  "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.

44. 나무는 각각 그 열매로 아나니 가시나무에서 무화과를, 또는 찔레에서 포도를 따지 못하느니라
  Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.

45. 선한 사람은 마음의 쌓은 선에서 선을 내고 악한 자는 그 쌓은 악에서 악을 내나니 이는 마음의 가득한 것을 입으로 말함이니라
  The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

46. 너희는 나를 불러 주여 주여 하면서도 어찌하여 나의 말하는 것을 행치 아니하느냐
  "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

47. 내게 나아와 내 말을 듣고 행하는 자마다 누구와 같은 것을 너희에게 보이리라
  I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.

48. 집을 짓되 깊이 파고 주초를 반석 위에 놓은 사람과 같으니 큰 물이 나서 탁류가 그 집에 부딪히되 잘 지은 연고로 능히 요동케 못하였거니와
  He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

49. 듣고 행치 아니하는 자는 주초 없이 흙 위에 집 지은 사람과 같으니 탁류가 부딪히매 집이 곧 무너져 파괴됨이 심하니라 하시니라
  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

욥기 20

1. 나아마 사람 소발이 대답하여 가로되
  Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:

2. 그러므로 내 생각이 내게 대답하나니 이는 내 중심이 초급함이니라
  "My troubled thoughts prompt me to answer because I am greatly disturbed.

3. 내가 나를 부끄럽게 하는 책망을 들었으므로 나의 슬기로운 마음이 내게 대답하는구나
  I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, and my understanding inspires me to reply.

4. 네가 알지 못하느냐 예로부터 사람이 이 세상에 있어 옴으로
  "Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since man was placed on the earth,

5. 악인의 이기는 자랑도 잠시요 사곡한 자의 즐거움도 잠간이니라
  that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.

6. 그 높기가 하늘에 닿고 그 머리가 구름에 미칠찌라도
  Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,

7. 자기의 똥처럼 영원히 망할 것이라 그를 본 자가 이르기를 그가 어디 있느냐 하리라
  he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'

8. 그는 꿈같이 지나가니 다시 찾을 수 없을 것이요 밤에 보이던 환상처럼 쫓겨가리니
  Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night.

9. 그를 본 눈이 다시 그를 보지 못할 것이요 그의 처소도 다시 그를 보지 못할 것이며
  The eye that saw him will not see him again; his place will look on him no more.

10. 그의 자녀들이 가난한 자에게 은혜를 구하겠고 그도 얻은 재물을 자기 손으로 도로 줄 것이며
  His children must make amends to the poor; his own hands must give back his wealth.

11. 그 기골이 청년같이 강장하나 그 기세가 그와 함께 흙에 누우리라
  The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie with him in the dust.

12. 그는 비록 악을 달게 여겨 혀 밑에 감추며
  "Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue,

13. 아껴서 버리지 아니하고 입에 물고 있을찌라도
  though he cannot bear to let it go and keeps it in his mouth,

14. 그 식물이 창자 속에서 변하며 뱃속에서 독사의 쓸개가 되느니라
  yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him.

15. 그가 재물을 삼켰을찌라도 다시 토할 것은 하나님이 그 배에서 도로 나오게 하심이니
  He will spit out the riches he swallowed; God will make his stomach vomit them up.

16. 그가 독사의 독을 빨며 뱀의 혀에 죽을 것이라
  He will suck the poison of serpents; the fangs of an adder will kill him.

17. 그는 강 곧 꿀과 엉긴 젖이 흐르는 강을 보지 못할 것이요
  He will not enjoy the streams, the rivers flowing with honey and cream.

18. 수고하여 얻은 것을 도로 주고 삼키지 못할 것이며 매매하여 얻은 재물로 즐거워하지 못하리니
  What he toiled for he must give back uneaten; he will not enjoy the profit from his trading.

19. 이는 그가 가난한 자를 학대하고 버림이요 자기가 세우지 않은 집을 빼앗음이니라
  For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; he has seized houses he did not build.

20. 그는 마음에 족한 줄을 알지 못하니 그 기뻐하는 것을 하나도 보존치 못하겠고
  "Surely he will have no respite from his craving; he cannot save himself by his treasure.

21. 남긴 것이 없이 몰수히 먹으니 그런즉 그 형통함이 오래지 못할 것이라
  Nothing is left for him to devour; his prosperity will not endure.

22. 풍족할 때에도 곤액이 이르리니 모든 고통하는 자의 손이 그에게 닿으리라
  In the midst of his plenty, distress will overtake him; the full force of misery will come upon him.

23. 그가 배를 불리려 할 때에 하나님이 맹렬한 진노를 내리시리니 밥 먹을 때에 그의 위에 비같이 쏟으시리라
  When he has filled his belly, God will vent his burning anger against him and rain down his blows upon him.

24. 그가 철병기를 피할 때에는 놋활이 쏘아 꿸 것이요
  Though he flees from an iron weapon, a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.

25. 몸에서 그 살을 빼어낸즉 번쩍번쩍하는 촉이 그 쓸개에서 나오고 큰 두려움이 그에게 임하느니라
  He pulls it out of his back, the gleaming point out of his liver. Terrors will come over him;

26. 모든 캄캄한 것이 그의 보물을 위하여 쌓이고 사람이 피우지 않은 불이 그를 멸하며 그 장막에 남은 것을 사르리라
  total darkness lies in wait for his treasures. A fire unfanned will consume him and devour what is left in his tent.

27. 하늘이 그의 죄악을 드러낼 것이요 땅이 일어나 그를 칠 것인즉
  The heavens will expose his guilt; the earth will rise up against him.

28. 그 가산이 패하여 하나님의 진노하시는 날에 흘러가리니
  A flood will carry off his house, rushing waters on the day of God's wrath.

29. 이는 악인이 하나님께 받을 분깃이요 하나님이 그에게 정하신 산업이니라
  Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God."

고린도전서 7

1. 너희의 쓴 말에 대하여는 남자가 여자를 가까이 아니함이 좋으나
  Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.

2. 음행의 연고로 남자마다 자기 아내를 두고 여자마다 자기 남편을 두라
  But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

3. 남편은 그 아내에게 대한 의무를 다하고 아내도 그 남편에게 그렇게 할찌라
  The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

4. 아내가 자기 몸을 주장하지 못하고 오직 그 남편이 하며 남편도 이와 같이 자기 몸을 주장하지 못하고 오직 그 아내가 하나니
  The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.

5. 서로 분방하지 말라 다만 기도할 틈을 얻기 위하여 합의상 얼마 동안은 하되 다시 합하라 이는 너희의 절제 못함을 인하여 사단으로 너희를 시험하지 못하게 하려 함이라
  Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

6. 그러나 내가 이 말을 함은 권도요 명령은 아니라
  I say this as a concession, not as a command.

7. 나는 모든 사람이 나와 같기를 원하노라 그러나 각각 하나님께 받은 자기의 은사가 있으니 하나는 이러하고 하나는 저러하니라
  I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

8. 내가 혼인하지 아니한 자들과 및 과부들에게 이르노니 나와 같이 그냥 지내는 것이 좋으니라
  Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.

9. 만일 절제할 수 없거든 혼인하라 정욕이 불같이 타는 것보다 혼인하는 것이 나으니라
  But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

10. 혼인한 자들에게 내가 명하노니 (명하는 자는 내가 아니요 주시라) 여자는 남편에게서 갈리지 말고
  To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.

11. 만일 갈릴찌라도 그냥 지내든지 다시 그 남편과 화합하든지 하라) 남편도 아내를 버리지 말라
  But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

12. 그 남은 사람들에게 내가 말하노니 (이는 주의 명령이 아니라) 만일 어떤 형제에게 믿지 아니하는 아내가 있어 남편과 함께 살기를 좋아하거든 저를 버리지 말며
  To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

13. 어떤 여자에게 믿지 아니하는 남편이 있어 아내와 함께 살기를 좋아하거든 그 남편을 버리지 말라
  And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.

14. 믿지 아니하는 남편이 아내로 인하여 거룩하게 되고 믿지 아니하는 아내가 남편으로 인하여 거룩하게 되나니 그렇지 아니하면 너희 자녀도 깨끗지 못하니라 그러나 이제 거룩하니라
  For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

15. 혹 믿지 아니하는 자가 갈리거든 갈리게 하라 형제나 자매나 이런 일에 구속받을 것이 없느니라 그러나 하나님은 화평 중에서 너희를 부르셨느니라
  But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

16. 아내된 자여 네가 남편을 구원할는지 어찌 알 수 있으며 남편된 자여 네가 네 아내를 구원할는지 어찌 알 수 있으리요
  How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

17. 오직 주께서 각 사람에게 나눠 주신 대로 하나님이 각 사람을 부르신 그대로 행하라 내가 모든 교회에서 이와 같이 명하노라
  Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

18. 할례자로 부르심을 받은 자가 있느냐 무할례자가 되지 말며 무할례자로 부르심을 받은 자가 있느냐 할례를 받지 말라
  Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised.

19. 할례받는 것도 아무것도 아니요 할례받지 아니하는 것도 아무것도 아니로되 오직 하나님의 계명을 지킬 따름이니라
  Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

20. 각 사람이 부르심을 받은 그 부르심 그대로 지내라
  Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.

21. 네가 종으로 있을 때에 부르심을 받았느냐 염려하지 말라 그러나 자유할 수 있거든 차라리 사용하라
  Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.

22. 주 안에서 부르심을 받은 자는 종이라도 주께 속한 자유자요 또 이와 같이 자유자로 있을 때에 부르심을 받은 자는 그리스도의 종이니라
  For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave.

23. 너희는 값으로 사신 것이니 사람들의 종이 되지 말라
  You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

24. 형제들아 각각 부르심을 받은 그대로 하나님과 함께 거하라
  Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.

25. 처녀에 대하여는 내가 주께 받은 계명이 없으되 주의 자비하심을 받아서 충성된 자가 되어 의견을 고하노니
  Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.

26. 내 생각에는 이것이 좋으니 곧 임박한 환난을 인하여 사람이 그냥 지내는 것이 좋으니라
  Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for you to remain as you are.

27. 네가 아내에게 매였느냐 놓이기를 구하지 말며 아내에게서 놓였느냐 아내를 구하지 말라
  Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife.

28. 그러나 장가가도 죄 짓는 것이 아니요 처녀가 시집가도 죄 짓는 것이 아니로되 이런 이들은 육신에 고난이 있으리니 나는 너희를 아끼노라
  But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

29. 형제들아 내가 이 말을 하노니 때가 단축하여진 고로 이후부터 아내 있는 자들은 없는 자같이 하며
  What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;

30. 우는 자들은 울지 않는 자같이 하며 기쁜 자들은 기쁘지 않은 자같이 하며 매매하는 자들은 없는 자같이 하며
  those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep;

31. 세상 물건을 쓰는 자들은 다 쓰지 못하는 자같이 하라 이 세상의 형적은 지나감이니라
  those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

32. 너희가 염려 없기를 원하노라 장가가지 않은 자는 주의 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 주를 기쁘시게 할꼬 하되
  I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs--how he can please the Lord.

33. 장가간 자는 세상 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 아내를 기쁘게 할꼬 하여 마음이 나누이며
  But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world--how he can please his wife--

34. 시집가지 않은 자와 처녀는 주의 일을 염려하여 몸과 영을 다 거룩하게 하려 하되 시집간 자는 세상 일을 염려하여 어찌하여야 남편을 기쁘게 할꼬 하느니라
  and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world--how she can please her husband.

35. 내가 이것을 말함은 너희의 유익을 위함이요 너희에게 올무를 놓으려 함이 아니니 오직 너희로 하여금 이치에 합하게 하여 분요함이 없이 주를 섬기게 하려 함이라
  I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

36. 누가 자기의 처녀 딸에 대한 일이 이치에 합당치 못한 줄로 생각할 때에 혼기도 지나고 그같이 할 필요가 있거든 마음대로 하라 이것은 죄 짓는 것이 아니니 혼인하게 하라
  If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.

37. 그러나 그 마음을 굳게 하고 또 부득이한 일도 없고 자기 뜻대로 할 권리가 있어서 그 처녀 딸을 머물러 두기로 마음에 작정하여도 잘하는 것이니라
  But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin--this man also does the right thing.

38. 그러므로 처녀 딸을 시집보내는 자도 잘하거니와 시집보내지 아니하는 자가 더 잘하는 것이니라
  So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does even better.

39. 아내가 그 남편이 살 동안에 매여 있다가 남편이 죽으면 자유하여 자기 뜻대로 시집갈 것이나 주 안에서만 할 것이니라
  A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.

40. 그러나 내 뜻에는 그냥 지내는 것이 더욱 복이 있으리로다 나도 또한 하나님의 영을 받은 줄로 생각하노라
  In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is--and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
