민수기 21

1. 남방에 거하는 가나안 사람 곧 아랏의 왕이 이스라엘이 아다림 길로 온다 함을 듣고 이스라엘을 쳐서 그 중 몇 사람을 사로잡은지라
  When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked the Israelites and captured some of them.

2. 이스라엘이 여호와께 서원하여 가로되 주께서 만일 이 백성을 내 손에 붙이시면 내가 그들의 성읍을 다 멸하리이다
  Then Israel made this vow to the LORD: "If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy their cities."

3. 여호와께서 이스라엘의 소리를 들으시고 가나안 사람을 붙이시매 그들과 그 성읍을 다 멸하니라 그러므로 그 곳 이름을 호르마라 하였더라
  The LORD listened to Israel's plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.

4. 백성이 호르 산에서 진행하여 홍해 길로 좇아 에돔 땅을 둘러 행하려 하였다가 길로 인하여 백성의 마음이 상하니라
  They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

5. 백성이 하나님과 모세를 향하여 원망하되 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 인도하여 올려서 이 광야에서 죽게 하는고 이 곳에는 식물도 없고 물도 없도다 우리 마음이 이 박한 식물을 싫어하노라 하매
  they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"

6. 여호와께서 불뱀들을 백성 중에 보내어 백성을 물게 하시므로 이스라엘 백성 중에 죽은 자가 많은지라
  Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.

7. 백성이 모세에게 이르러 가로되 우리가 여호와와 당신을 향하여 원망하므로 범죄하였사오니 여호와께 기도하여 이 뱀들을 우리에게서 떠나게 하소서 모세가 백성을 위하여 기도하매
  The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people.

8. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 불뱀을 만들어 장대 위에 달라 물린 자마다 그것을 보면 살리라
  The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live."

9. 모세가 놋뱀을 만들어 장대 위에 다니 뱀에게 물린 자마다 놋뱀을 쳐다본즉 살더라
  So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.

10. 이스라엘 자손이 진행하여 오봇에 진쳤고
  The Israelites moved on and camped at Oboth.

11. 오봇에서 진행하여 모압 앞 해돋는 편 광야 이예아바림에 진쳤고
  Then they set out from Oboth and camped in Iye Abarim, in the desert that faces Moab toward the sunrise.

12. 거기서 진행하여 세렛 골짜기에 진쳤고
  From there they moved on and camped in the Zered Valley.

13. 거기서 진행하여 아모리인의 지경에서 흘러 나와서 광야에 이른 아르논 건너편에 진쳤으니 아르논은 모압과 아모리 사이에서 모압의 경계가 된 것이라
  They set out from there and camped alongside the Arnon, which is in the desert extending into Amorite territory. The Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

14. 이러므로 여호와의 전쟁기에 일렀으되 수바의 와헙과 아르논 골짜기와
  That is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD says: ". . . Waheb in Suphah and the ravines, the Arnon

15. 모든 골짜기의 비탈은 아르 고을을 향하여 기울어지고 모압의 경계에 닿았도다 하였더라
  and the slopes of the ravines that lead to the site of Ar and lie along the border of Moab."

16. 거기서 브엘에 이르니 브엘은 여호와께서 모세에게 명하시기를 백성을 모으라 내가 그들에게 물을 주리라 하시던 우물이라
  From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, "Gather the people together and I will give them water."

17. 그 때에 이스라엘이 노래하여 가로되 우물 물아 솟아나라 너희는 그것을 노래하라
  Then Israel sang this song: "Spring up, O well! Sing about it,

18. 이 우물은 족장들이 팠고 백성의 귀인들이 홀과 지팡이로 판 것이로다 하였더라 광야에서 맛다나에 이르렀고
  about the well that the princes dug, that the nobles of the people sank--the nobles with scepters and staffs." Then they went from the desert to Mattanah,

19. 맛다나에서 나할리엘에 이르렀고 나할리엘에서 바못에 이르렀고
  from Mattanah to Nahaliel, from Nahaliel to Bamoth,

20. 바못에서 모압 들에 있는 골짜기에 이르러 광야가 내려다 보이는 비스가 산 꼭대기에 이르렀더라
  and from Bamoth to the valley in Moab where the top of Pisgah overlooks the wasteland.

21. 이스라엘이 아모리 왕 시혼에게 사자를 보내어 가로되
  Israel sent messengers to say to Sihon king of the Amorites:

22. 우리로 당신의 땅을 통과하게 하소서 우리가 밭에든지 포도원에든지 들어가지 아니하며 우물 물도 공히 마시지 아니하고 우리가 당신의 지경에서 다 나가기까지 왕의 대로로만 통행하리이다 하나
  "Let us pass through your country. We will not turn aside into any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the king's highway until we have passed through your territory."

23. 시혼이 자기 지경으로 이스라엘의 통과함을 용납하지 아니하고 그 백성을 다 모아 이스라엘을 치러 광야로 나와서 야하스에 이르러 이스라엘을 치므로
  But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. He mustered his entire army and marched out into the desert against Israel. When he reached Jahaz, he fought with Israel.

24. 이스라엘이 칼날로 그들을 쳐서 파하고 그 땅을 아르논부터 얍복까지 점령하여 암몬 자손에게까지 미치니 암몬 자손의 경계는 견고하더라
  Israel, however, put him to the sword and took over his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, but only as far as the Ammonites, because their border was fortified.

25. 이스라엘이 이같이 그 모든 성읍을 취하고 그 아모리인의 모든 성읍 헤스본과 그 모든 촌락에 거하였으니
  Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites and occupied them, including Heshbon and all its surrounding settlements.

26. 헤스본은 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 도성이라 시혼이 모압 전왕을 치고 그 모든 땅을 아르논까지 그 손에서 탈취하였었더라
  Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.

27. 그러므로 시인이 읊어 가로되 너희는 헤스본으로 올찌어다 시혼의 성을 세워 견고히 할찌어다
  That is why the poets say: "Come to Heshbon and let it be rebuilt; let Sihon's city be restored.

28. 헤스본에서 불이 나오며 시혼의 성에서 화염이 나와서 모압의 아르를 삼키며 아르논 높은 곳의 주인을 멸하였도다
  "Fire went out from Heshbon, a blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar of Moab, the citizens of Arnon's heights.

29. 모압아 네가 화를 당하였도다 그모스의 백성아 네가 멸망하였도다 그가 그 아들들로 도망케 하였고 그 딸들로 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 포로가 되게 하였도다
  Woe to you, O Moab! You are destroyed, O people of Chemosh! He has given up his sons as fugitives and his daughters as captives to Sihon king of the Amorites.

30. 우리가 그들을 쏘아서 헤스본을 디본까지 멸하였고 메드바에 가까운 노바까지 황폐케 하였도다 하였더라
  "But we have overthrown them; Heshbon is destroyed all the way to Dibon. We have demolished them as far as Nophah, which extends to Medeba."

31. 이스라엘이 아모리인의 땅에 거하였더니
  So Israel settled in the land of the Amorites.

32. 모세가 또 보내어 야셀을 정탐케 하고 그 촌락들을 취하고 그 곳에 있던 아모리인을 몰아내었더라
  After Moses had sent spies to Jazer, the Israelites captured its surrounding settlements and drove out the Amorites who were there.

33. 돌이켜 바산 길로 올라가매 바산 왕 옥이 그 백성을 다 거느리고 나와서 그들을 맞아 에드레이에서 싸우려 하는지라
  Then they turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet them in battle at Edrei.

34. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 그를 두려워 말라 내가 그와 그 백성과 그 땅을 네 손에 붙였나니 너는 헤스본에 거하던 아모리인의 왕 시혼에게 행한것 같이 그에게도 행할찌니라
  The LORD said to Moses, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you, with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."

35. 이에 그와 그 아들들과 그 백성을 다 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하고 그 땅을 점령하였더라
  So they struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army, leaving them no survivors. And they took possession of his land.

시편 60-61

1. 하나님이여 주께서 우리를 버려 흩으셨고 분노하셨사오나 지금은 우리를 회복시키소서
  For the director of music. To the tune of"The Lily of the Covenant." A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry--now restore us!

2. 주께서 땅을 진동시키사 갈라지게 하셨사오니 그 틈을 기우소서 땅이 요동함이니이다
  You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.

3. 주께서 주의 백성에게 어려움을 보이시고 비척거리게 하는 포도주로 우리에게 마시우셨나이다
  You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger.

4. 주를 경외하는 자에게 기를 주시고 진리를 위하여 달게 하셨나이다 (셀라)
  But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. Selah

5. 주의 사랑하시는 자를 건지시기 위하여 우리에게 응답하사 오른손으로 구원하소서
  Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.

6. 하나님이 그 거룩하심으로 말씀하시되 내가 뛰놀리라 내가 세겜을 나누며 숙곳 골짜기를 척량하리라
  God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth.

7. 길르앗이 내 것이요 므낫세도 내 것이며 에브라임은 내 머리의 보호자요 유다는 나의 홀이며
  Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter.

8. 모압은 내 목욕통이라 에돔에는 내 신을 던지리라 블레셋아 나를 인하여 외치라 하셨도다
  Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph."

9. 누가 나를 이끌어 견고한 성에 들이며 누가 나를 에돔에 인도할꼬
  Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

10. 하나님이여 주께서 우리를 버리지 아니하셨나이까 하나님이여 주께서 우리 군대와 함께 나아가지 아니하시나이다
  Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?

11. 우리를 도와 대적을 치게 하소서 사람의 구원은 헛됨이니이다
  Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.

12. 우리가 하나님을 의지하고 용감히 행하리니 저는 우리의 대적을 밟으실 자심이로다
  With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

1. 하나님이여 나의 부르짖음을 들으시며 내 기도에 유의하소서
  For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.

2. 내 마음이 눌릴 때에 땅 끝에서부터 주께 부르짖으오리니 나보다 높은 바위에 나를 인도하소서
  From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3. 주는 나의 피난처시요 원수를 피하는 견고한 망대심이니이다
  For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.

4. 내가 영원히 주의 장막에 거하며 내가 주의 날개 밑에 피하리이다 (셀라)
  I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah

5. 하나님이여 내 서원을 들으시고 주의 이름을 경외하는 자의 얻을 기업을 내게 주셨나이다
  For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

6. 주께서 왕으로 장수케 하사 그 나이 여러 대에 미치게 하시리이다
  Increase the days of the king's life, his years for many generations.

7. 저가 영원히 하나님 앞에 거하리니 인자와 진리를 예비하사 저를 보호하소서
  May he be enthroned in God's presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

8. 그리하시면 내가 주의 이름을 영원히 찬양하며 매일 나의 서원을 이행하리이다
  Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day.

이사야 10:5-34

5. 화 있을진저 앗수르 사람이여 그는 나의 진노의 막대기요 그 손의 몽둥이는 나의 분한이라
  "Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath!

6. 내가 그를 보내어 한 나라를 치게 하며 내가 그에게 명하여 나의 노한 백성을 쳐서 탈취하며 노략하게 하며 또 그들을 가로상의 진흙같이 짓밟게 하려 하거늘
  I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against a people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets.

7. 그의 뜻은 이같지 아니하며 그 마음의 생각도 이같지 아니하고 오직 그 마음에 허다한 나라를 파괴하며 멸절하려 하여
  But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations.

8. 이르기를 나의 방백들은 다 왕이 아니냐
  'Are not my commanders all kings?' he says.

9. 갈로는 갈그미스와 같지 아니하며 하맛은 아르밧과 같지 아니하며 사마리아는 다메섹과 같지 아니하냐
  'Has not Calno fared like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad, and Samaria like Damascus?

10. 내 손이 이미 신상을 섬기는 나라에 미쳤나니 그 조각한 신상이 예루살렘과 사마리아의 신상보다 우승하였느니라
  As my hand seized the kingdoms of the idols, kingdoms whose images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria--

11. 내가 사마리아와 그 신상에게 행함같이 예루살렘과 그 신상에게 행치 못하겠느냐 하도다
  shall I not deal with Jerusalem and her images as I dealt with Samaria and her idols?'"

12. 이러므로 주 내가 나의 일을 시온 산과 예루살렘에 다 행한 후에 앗수르 왕의 완악한 마음의 열매와 높은 눈의 자랑을 벌하리라
  When the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say, "I will punish the king of Assyria for the willful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes.

13. 그의 말에 나는 내 손의 힘과 내 지혜로 이 일을 행하였나니 나는 총명한 자라 열국의 경계를 옮겼고 그 재물을 약탈하였으며 또 용감한 자같이 위에 거한 자를 낮추었으며
  For he says: "'By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, because I have understanding. I removed the boundaries of nations, I plundered their treasures; like a mighty one I subdued their kings.

14. 나의 손으로 열국의 재물을 얻은 것은 새의 보금자리를 얻음 같고 온 세계를 얻은 것은 내어 버린 알을 주움 같았으나 날개를 치거나 입을 벌리거나 지저귀는 것이 하나도 없었다 하는도다
  As one reaches into a nest, so my hand reached for the wealth of the nations; as men gather abandoned eggs, so I gathered all the countries; not one flapped a wing, or opened its mouth to chirp.'"

15. 도끼가 어찌 찍는 자에게 스스로 자랑하겠으며 톱이 어찌 켜는 자에게 스스로 큰 체하겠느냐 이는 막대기가 자기를 드는 자를 움직이려 하며 몽둥이가 나무 아닌 사람을 들려 함과 일반이로다
  Does the ax raise itself above him who swings it, or the saw boast against him who uses it? As if a rod were to wield him who lifts it up, or a club brandish him who is not wood!

16. 그러므로 주 만군의 여호와께서 살찐 자로 파리하게 하시며 그 영화의 아래에 불이 붙는 것 같이 맹렬히 타게 하실것이라
  Therefore, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, will send a wasting disease upon his sturdy warriors; under his pomp a fire will be kindled like a blazing flame.

17. 이스라엘의 빛은 불이요 그 거룩한 자는 불꽃이라 하루 사이에 그의 형극과 질려가 소멸되며
  The Light of Israel will become a fire, their Holy One a flame; in a single day it will burn and consume his thorns and his briers.

18. 그 삼림과 기름진 밭의 영광이 전부 소멸되리니 병인이 점점 쇠약하여 감 같을 것이라
  The splendor of his forests and fertile fields it will completely destroy, as when a sick man wastes away.

19. 그 삼림에 남은 나무의 수가 희소하여 아이라도 능히 계산할 수 있으리라
  And the remaining trees of his forests will be so few that a child could write them down.

20. 그 날에 이스라엘의 남은 자와 야곱 족속의 피난한 자들이 다시는 자기를 친 자를 의뢰치 아니하고 이스라엘의 거룩하신 자 여호와를 진실히 의뢰하리니
  In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.

21. 남은 자 곧 야곱의 남은 자가 능하신 하나님께로 돌아올 것이라
  A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty God.

22. 이스라엘이여 네 백성이 바다의 모래 같을찌라도 남은 자만 돌아오리니 넘치는 공의로 훼멸이 작정되었음이라
  Though your people, O Israel, be like the sand by the sea, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.

23. 이미 작정되었은즉 주 만군의 여호와께서 온 세계 중에 끝까지 행하시리라
  The Lord, the LORD Almighty, will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.

24. 주 만군의 여호와께서 가라사대 시온에 거한 나의 백성들아 앗수르 사람이 애굽을 본받아 막대기로 너를 때리며 몽둥이를 들어 너를 칠찌라도 그를 두려워 말라
  Therefore, this is what the Lord, the LORD Almighty, says: "O my people who live in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrians, who beat you with a rod and lift up a club against you, as Egypt did.

25. 내가 불구에 네게는 분을 그치고 노를 옮겨 그들을 멸하리라 하시도다
  Very soon my anger against you will end and my wrath will be directed to their destruction."

26. 만군의 여호와께서 채찍을 들어 그를 치시되 오렙 반석에서 미디안 사람을 쳐죽이신 것같이 하실 것이며 막대기를 드시되 바다를 향하여 애굽에 드신 것같이 하실 것이라
  The LORD Almighty will lash them with a whip, as when he struck down Midian at the rock of Oreb; and he will raise his staff over the waters, as he did in Egypt.

27. 그 날에 그의 무거운 짐이 네 어깨에서 떠나고 그의 멍에가 네 목에서 벗어지되 기름진 까닭에 멍에가 부러지리라
  In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat.

28. 앗수르 왕이 아얏에 이르러 미그론을 지나 믹마스에 치중을 머무르고
  They enter Aiath; they pass through Migron; they store supplies at Micmash.

29. 영을 넘어 게바에서 유숙하매 라마는 떨고 사울의 기브아 사람은 도망하도다
  They go over the pass, and say, "We will camp overnight at Geba." Ramah trembles; Gibeah of Saul flees.

30. 딸 갈림아 큰 소리로 외칠찌어다 라이사야 자세히 들을찌어다 가련하다 너 아나돗이여
  Cry out, O Daughter of Gallim! Listen, O Laishah! Poor Anathoth!

31. 맛메나 사람은 피난하며 게빔 거민은 도망하도다
  Madmenah is in flight; the people of Gebim take cover.

32. 이 날에 그가 놉에서 쉬고 딸 시온 산 곧 예루살렘 산을 향하여 그 손을 흔들리로다
  This day they will halt at Nob; they will shake their fist at the mount of the Daughter of Zion, at the hill of Jerusalem.

33. 주 만군의 여호와께서 혁혁한 위력으로 그 가지를 꺾으시리니 그 장대한 자가 찍힐 것이요 높은 자가 낮아질 것이며
  See, the Lord, the LORD Almighty, will lop off the boughs with great power. The lofty trees will be felled, the tall ones will be brought low.

34. 철로 그 빽빽한 삼림을 베시리니 레바논이 권능 있는 자에게 작벌을 당하리라
  He will cut down the forest thickets with an ax; Lebanon will fall before the Mighty One.

야고보서 4

1. 너희 중에 싸움이 어디로, 다툼이 어디로 좇아 나느뇨 너희 지체 중에서 싸우는 정욕으로 좇아 난 것이 아니냐
  What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?

2. 너희가 욕심을 내어도 얻지 못하고 살인하며 시기하여도 능히 취하지 못하나니 너희가 다투고 싸우는도다 너희가 얻지 못함은 구하지 아니함이요
  You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.

3. 구하여도 받지 못함은 정욕으로 쓰려고 잘못 구함이니라
  When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4. 간음하는 여자들이여 세상과 벗된 것이 하나님의 원수임을 알지 못하느뇨 그런즉 누구든지 세상과 벗이 되고자 하는 자는 스스로 하나님과 원수 되게 하는 것이니라
  You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

5. 너희가 하나님이 우리 속에 거하게 하신 성령이 시기하기까지 사모한다 하신 말씀을 헛된 줄로 생각하느뇨
  Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?

6. 그러나 더욱 큰 은혜를 주시나니 그러므로 일렀으되 하나님이 교만한 자를 물리치시고 겸손한 자에게 은혜를 주신다 하였느니라
  But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

7. 그런즉 너희는 하나님께 순복할찌어다 마귀를 대적하라 그리하면 너희를 피하리라
  Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8. 하나님을 가까이 하라 그리하면 너희를 가까이 하시리라 죄인들아 손을 깨끗이 하라 두 마음을 품은 자들아 마음을 성결케 하라
  Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

9. 슬퍼하며 애통하며 울찌어다 너희 웃음을 애통으로, 너희 즐거움을 근심으로 바꿀찌어다
  Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

10. 주 앞에서 낮추라 그리하면 주께서 너희를 높이시리라
  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

11. 형제들아 피차에 비방하지 말라 형제를 비방하는 자나 형제를 판단하는 자는 곧 율법을 비방하고 율법을 판단하는 것이라 네가 만일 율법을 판단하면 율법의 준행자가 아니요 재판자로다
  Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.

12. 입법자와 재판자는 오직 하나이시니 능히 구원하기도 하시며 멸하기도 하시느니라 너는 누구관대 이웃을 판단하느냐
  There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?

13. 들으라 너희 중에 말하기를 오늘이나 내일이나 우리가 아무 도시에 가서 거기서 일 년을 유하며 장사하여 이를 보리라 하는 자들아
  Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."

14. 내일 일을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 너희 생명이 무엇이뇨 너희는 잠간 보이다가 없어지는 안개니라
  Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

15. 너희가 도리어 말하기를 주의 뜻이면 우리가 살기도 하고 이것 저것을 하리라 할 것이거늘
  Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

16. 이제 너희가 허탄한 자랑을 자랑하니 이러한 자랑은 다 악한 것이라
  As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.

17. 이러므로 사람이 선을 행할 줄 알고도 행치 아니하면 죄니라
  Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
