레위기 19

1. 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대
  The LORD said to Moses,

2. 너는 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 고하여 이르라 너희는 거룩하라 나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라
  "Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: 'Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.

3. 너희 각 사람은 부모를 경외하고 나의 안식일을 지키라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  "'Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

4. 너희는 헛것을 위하지 말며 너희를 위하여 신상들을 부어 만들지 말라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  "'Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.

5. 너희는 화목제 희생을 여호와께 드릴 때에 열납되도록 드리고
  "'When you sacrifice a fellowship offering to the LORD, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.

6. 그 제물은 드리는 날과 이튿날에 먹고 제 삼 일까지 남았거든 불사르라
  It shall be eaten on the day you sacrifice it or on the next day; anything left over until the third day must be burned up.

7. 제 삼 일에 조금이라도 먹으면 가증한 것이 되어 열납되지 못하고
  If any of it is eaten on the third day, it is impure and will not be accepted.

8. 그것을 먹는 자는 여호와의 성물 더럽힘을 인하여 죄를 당하리니 그가 그 백성 중에서 끊쳐지리라
  Whoever eats it will be held responsible because he has desecrated what is holy to the LORD; that person must be cut off from his people.

9. 너희 땅의 곡물을 벨 때에 너는 밭 모퉁이까지 다 거두지 말고 너의 떨어진 이삭도 줍지 말며
  "'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.

10. 너의 포도원의 열매를 다 따지 말며 너의 포도원에 떨어진 열매도 줍지 말고 가난한 사람과 타국인을 위하여 버려 두라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.

11. 너희는 도적질하지 말며 속이지 말며 서로 거짓말하지 말며
  "'Do not steal. "'Do not lie. "'Do not deceive one another.

12. 너희는 내 이름으로 거짓 맹세함으로 네 하나님의 이름을 욕되게 하지 말라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

13. 너는 네 이웃을 압제하지 말며 늑탈하지 말며 품군의 삯을 아침까지 밤새도록 네게 두지 말며
  "'Do not defraud your neighbor or rob him. "'Do not hold back the wages of a hired man overnight.

14. 너는 귀먹은 자를 저주하지 말며 소경 앞에 장애물을 놓지 말고 네 하나님을 경외하라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the LORD.

15. 너희는 재판할 때에 불의를 행치 말며 가난한 자의 편을 들지 말며 세력 있는 자라고 두호하지 말고 공의로 사람을 재판할찌며
  "'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

16. 너는 네 백성 중으로 돌아다니며 사람을 논단하지 말며 네 이웃을 대적하여 죽을 지경에 이르게 하지 말라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Do not go about spreading slander among your people. "'Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD.

17. 너는 네 형제를 마음으로 미워하지 말며 이웃을 인하여 죄를 당치 않도록 그를 반드시 책선하라
  "'Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt.

18. 원수를 갚지 말며 동포를 원망하지 말며 이웃 사랑하기를 네 몸과 같이 하라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

19. 너희는 내 규례를 지킬찌어다 네 육축을 다른 종류와 교합시키지 말며 네 밭에 두 종자를 섞어 뿌리지 말며 두 재료로 직조한 옷을 입지 말찌며
  "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

20. 무릇 아직 속량도 되지 못하고 해방도 되지 못하고 정혼한 씨종과 사람이 행음하면 두 사람이 형벌은 받으려니와 그들이 죽임을 당치 아니할 것은 그 여인은 아직 해방되지 못하였음이라
  "'If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed.

21. 그 남자는 그 속건제물 곧 속건제 수양을 회막문 여호와께로 끌어올 것이요
  The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for a guilt offering to the LORD.

22. 제사장은 그의 범한 죄를 위하여 그 속건제의 수양으로 여호와 앞에 속죄할 것이요 그리하면 그의 범한 죄의 사함을 받으리라
  With the ram of the guilt offering the priest is to make atonement for him before the LORD for the sin he has committed, and his sin will be forgiven.

23. 너희가 그 땅에 들어가 각종 과목을 심거든 그 열매는 아직 할례받지 못한 것으로 여기되 곧 삼 년 동안 너희는 그것을 할례받지 못한 것으로 여겨 먹지 말 것이요
  "'When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, regard its fruit as forbidden. For three years you are to consider it forbidden; it must not be eaten.

24. 제 사 년에는 그 모든 과실이 거룩하니 여호와께 드려 찬송할 것이며
  In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.

25. 제 오년에는 그 열매를 먹을찌니 그리하면 너희에게 그 소산이 풍성하리라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the LORD your God.

26. 너희는 무엇이든지 피 채 먹지 말며 복술을 하지 말며 술수를 행치 말며
  "'Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it. "'Do not practice divination or sorcery.

27. 머리 가를 둥글게 깎지 말며 수염 끝을 손상치 말며
  "'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

28. 죽은 자를 위하여 너희는 살을 베지 말며 몸에 무늬를 놓지 말라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.

29. 네 딸을 더럽혀 기생이 되게 말라 음풍이 전국에 퍼져 죄악이 가득할까 하노라
  "'Do not degrade your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will turn to prostitution and be filled with wickedness.

30. 내 안식일을 지키고 내 성소를 공경하라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD.

31. 너희는 신접한 자와 박수를 믿지 말며 그들을 추종하여 스스로 더럽히지 말라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  "'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

32. 너는 센 머리 앞에 일어서고 노인의 얼굴을 공경하며 네 하나님을 경외하라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD.

33. 타국인이 너희 땅에 우거하여 함께 있거든 너희는 그를 학대하지 말고
  "'When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him.

34. 너희와 함께 있는 타국인을 너희 중에서 낳은 자같이 여기며 자기같이 사랑하라 너희도 애굽 땅에서 객이 되었더니라 나는 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

35. 너희는 재판에든지 도량형에든지 불의를 행치 말고
  "'Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity.

36. 공평한 저울과 공평한 추와 공평한 에바와 공평한 힌을 사용하라 나는 너희를 인도하여 애굽 땅에서 나오게 한 너희 하나님 여호와니라
  Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt.

37. 너희는 나의 모든 규례와 나의 모든 법도를 지켜 행하라 나는 여호와니라
  "'Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the LORD.'"

시편 23-24

1. 여호와는 나의 목자시니 내가 부족함이 없으리로다
  A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2. 그가 나를 푸른 초장에 누이시며 쉴 만한 물가으로 인도하시는도다
  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3. 내 영혼을 소생시키시고 자기 이름을 위하여 의의 길로 인도하시는도다
  he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4. 내가 사망의 음침한 골짜기로 다닐찌라도 해를 두려워하지 않을 것은 주께서 나와 함께 하심이라 주의 지팡이와 막대기가 나를 안위하시나이다
  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5. 주께서 내 원수의 목전에서 내게 상을 베푸시고 기름으로 내 머리에 바르셨으니 내 잔이 넘치나이다
  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6. 나의 평생에 선하심과 인자하심이 정녕 나를 따르리니 내가 여호와의 집에 영원히 거하리로다
  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

1. 땅과 거기 충만한 것과 세계와 그 중에 거하는 자가 다 여호와의 것이로다
  Of David. A psalm. The earth is the LORD'S, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

2. 여호와께서 그 터를 바다 위에 세우심이여 강들 위에 건설하셨도다
  for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.

3. 여호와의 산에 오를 자 누구며 그 거룩한 곳에 설 자가 누군고
  Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?

4. 곧 손이 깨끗하며 마음이 청결하며 뜻을 허탄한 데 두지 아니하며 거짓 맹세치 아니하는 자로다
  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.

5. 저는 여호와께 복을 받고 구원의 하나님께 의를 얻으리니
  He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior.

6. 이는 여호와를 찾는 족속이요 야곱의 하나님의 얼굴을 구하는 자로다 (셀라)
  Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah

7. 문들아 너희 머리를 들찌어다 영원한 문들아 들릴찌어다 영광의 왕이 들어 가시리로다
  Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

8. 영광의 왕이 뉘시뇨 강하고 능한 여호와시요 전쟁에 능한 여호와시로다
  Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9. 문들아 너희 머리를 들찌어다 영원한 문들아 들릴찌어다 영광의 왕이 들어 가시리로다
  Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

10. 영광의 왕이 뉘시뇨 만군의 여호와께서 곧 영광의 왕이시로다 (셀라)
  Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty--he is the King of glory. Selah

■ 혼자 읽기

전도서 2

1. 나는 내 마음에 이르기를 자, 내가 시험적으로 너를 즐겁게 하리니 너는 낙을 누리라 하였으나 본즉 이것도 헛되도다
  I thought in my heart, "Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good." But that also proved to be meaningless.

2. 내가 웃음을 논하여 이르기를 미친 것이라 하였고 희락을 논하여 이르기를 저가 무엇을 하는가 하였노라
  "Laughter," I said, "is foolish. And what does pleasure accomplish?"

3. 내 마음에 궁구하기를 내가 어떻게 하여야 내 마음에 지혜로 다스림을 받으면서 술로 내 육신을 즐겁게 할까 또 어떻게 하여야 어리석음을 취하여서 천하 인생의 종신토록 생활함에 어떤 것이 쾌락인지 알까 하여
  I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly--my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.

4. 나의 사업을 크게 하였노라 내가 나를 위하여 집들을 지으며 포도원을 심으며
  I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards.

5. 여러 동산과 과원을 만들고 그 가운데 각종 과목을 심었으며
  I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.

6. 수목을 기르는 삼림에 물주기 위하여 못을 팠으며
  I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.

7. 노비는 사기도 하였고 집에서 나게도 하였으며 나보다 먼저 예루살렘에 있던 모든 자보다도 소와 양 떼의 소유를 많게 하였으며
  I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.

8. 은금과 왕들의 보배와 여러 도의 보배를 쌓고 또 노래하는 남녀와 인생들의 기뻐하는 처와 첩들을 많이 두었노라
  I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired men and women singers, and a harem as well--the delights of the heart of man.

9. 내가 이같이 창성하여 나보다 먼저 예루살렘에 있던 모든 자보다 지나고 내 지혜도 내게 여전하여
  I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.

10. 무엇이든지 내 눈이 원하는 것을 내가 금하지 아니하며 무엇이든지 내 마음이 즐거워하는 것을 내가 막지 아니하였으니 이는 나의 모든 수고를 내 마음이 기뻐하였음이라 이것이 나의 모든 수고로 말미암아 얻은 분복이로다
  I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.

11. 그 후에 본즉 내 손으로 한 모든 일과 수고한 모든 수고가 다 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이며 해 아래서 무익한 것이로다
  Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

12. 내가 돌이켜 지혜와 망령됨과 어리석음을 보았나니 왕의 뒤에 오는 자는 무슨 일을 행할꼬 행한 지 오랜 일일 뿐이리라
  Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. What more can the king's successor do than what has already been done?

13. 내가 보건대 지혜가 우매보다 뛰어남이 빛이 어두움보다 뛰어남 같도다
  I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.

14. 지혜자는 눈이 밝고 우매자는 어두움에 다니거니와 이들의 당하는 일이 일반인 줄을 내가 깨닫고
  The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the darkness; but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both.

15. 심중에 이르기를 우매자의 당한 것을 나도 당하리니 내가 어찌하여 지혜가 더하였던고 이에 내가 심중에 이르기를 이것도 헛되도다
  Then I thought in my heart, "The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being wise?" I said in my heart, "This too is meaningless."

16. 지혜자나 우매자나 영원토록 기억함을 얻지 못하나니 후일에는 다 잊어버린 지 오랠 것임이라 오호라 지혜자의 죽음이 우매자의 죽음과 일반이로다
  For the wise man, like the fool, will not be long remembered; in days to come both will be forgotten. Like the fool, the wise man too must die!

17. 이러므로 내가 사는 것을 한하였노니 이는 해 아래서 하는 일이 내게 괴로움이요 다 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것임이로다
  So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

18. 내가 해 아래서 나의 수고한 모든 수고를 한하였노니 이는 내 뒤를 이을 자에게 끼치게 됨이라
  I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.

19. 그 사람이 지혜자일찌 우매자일찌야 누가 알랴마는 내가 해 아래서 내 지혜를 나타내어 수고한 모든 결과를 저가 다 관리하리니 이것도 헛되도다
  And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the work into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

20. 이러므로 내가 해 아래서 수고한 모든 수고에 대하여 도리어 마음으로 실망케 하였도다
  So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.

21. 어떤 사람은 그 지혜와 지식과 재주를 써서 수고하였어도 그 얻은 것을 수고하지 아니한 자에게 업으로 끼치리니 이것도 헛된 것이라 큰 해로다
  For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.

22. 사람이 해 아래서 수고하는 모든 수고와 마음에 애쓰는 것으로 소득이 무엇이랴
  What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun?

23. 일평생에 근심하며 수고하는 것이 슬픔뿐이라 그 마음이 밤에도 쉬지 못하나니 이것도 헛되도다
  All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.

24. 사람이 먹고 마시며 수고하는 가운데서 심령으로 낙을 누리게 하는 것보다 나은 것이 없나니 내가 이것도 본즉 하나님의 손에서 나는 것이로다
  A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,

25. 먹고 즐거워하는 일에 누가 나보다 승하랴
  for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?

26. 하나님이 그 기뻐하시는 자에게는 지혜와 지식과 희락을 주시나 죄인에게는 노고를 주시고 저로 모아 쌓게 하사 하나님을 기뻐하는 자에게 주게 하시나니 이것도 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이로다
  To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

디모데전서 4

1. 그러나 성령이 밝히 말씀하시기를 후일에 어떤 사람들이 믿음에서 떠나 미혹케 하는 영과 귀신의 가르침을 좇으리라 하셨으니
  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

2. 자기 양심이 화인 맞아서 외식함으로 거짓말하는 자들이라
  Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

3. 혼인을 금하고 식물을 폐하라 할 터이나 식물은 하나님이 지으신 바니 믿는 자들과 진리를 아는 자들이 감사함으로 받을 것이니라
  They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

4. 하나님의 지으신 모든 것이 선하매 감사함으로 받으면 버릴 것이 없나니
  For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

5. 하나님의 말씀과 기도로 거룩하여짐이니라
  because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

6. 네가 이것으로 형제를 깨우치면 그리스도 예수의 선한 일군이 되어 믿음의 말씀과 네가 좇은 선한 교훈으로 양육을 받으리라
  If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

7. 망령되고 허탄한 신화를 버리고 오직 경건에 이르기를 연습하라
  Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

8. 육체의 연습은 약간의 유익이 있으나 경건은 범사에 유익하니 금생과 내생에 약속이 있느니라
  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

9. 미쁘다 이 말이여 모든 사람들이 받을 만하도다
  This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance

10. 이를 위하여 우리가 수고하고 진력하는 것은 우리 소망을 살아 계신 하나님께 둠이니 곧 모든 사람 특히 믿는 자들의 구주시라
  (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

11. 네가 이것들을 명하고 가르치라
  Command and teach these things.

12. 누구든지 네 연소함을 업신여기지 못하게 하고 오직 말과 행실과 사랑과 믿음과 정절에 대하여 믿는 자에게 본이 되어
  Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

13. 내가 이를 때까지 읽는 것과 권하는 것과 가르치는 것에 착념하라
  Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

14. 네 속에 있는 은사 곧 장로의 회에서 안수받을 때에 예언으로 말미암아 받은 것을 조심 없이 말며
  Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

15. 이 모든 일에 전심 전력하여 너의 진보를 모든 사람에게 나타나게 하라
  Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.

16. 네가 네 자신과 가르침을 삼가 이 일을 계속하라 이것을 행함으로 네 자신과 네게 듣는 자를 구원하리라
  Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
