역대하 9

1. 스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 명예를 듣고 와서 어려운 문제로 솔로몬을 시험코자 하여 예루살렘에 이르니 수원이 심히 많고 향품과 많은 금과 보석을 약대에 실었더라 저가 솔로몬에게 나아와 자기 마음에 있는 것을 다 말하매
  When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions. Arriving with a very great caravan--with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones--she came to Solomon and talked with him about all she had on her mind.

2. 솔로몬이 그 묻는 말을 다 대답하였으니 솔로몬이 은미하여 대답지 못한 것이 없었더라
  Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for him to explain to her.

3. 스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 지혜와 그 건축한 궁과
  When the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, as well as the palace he had built,

4. 그 상의 식물과 그 신복들의 좌석과 그 신하들의 시립한 것과 그들의 공복과 술 관원들과 그들의 공복과 여호와의 전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 정신이 현황하여
  the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, the cupbearers in their robes and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the LORD, she was overwhelmed.

5. 왕께 고하되 내가 내 나라에서 당신의 행위와 당신의 지혜에 대하여 들은 소문이 진실하도다
  She said to the king, "The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.

6. 내가 그 말들을 믿지 아니하였더니 이제 와서 목도한즉 당신의 지혜가 크다 한 말이 그 절반도 못되니 당신은 내가 들은 소문보다 지나도다
  But I did not believe what they said until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half the greatness of your wisdom was told me; you have far exceeded the report I heard.

7. 복되도다 당신의 사람들이여, 복되도다 당신의 이 신복들이여, 항상 당신의 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 들음이로다
  How happy your men must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!

8. 당신의 하나님 여호와를 송축할찌로다 하나님이 당신을 기뻐하시고 그 위에 올리사 당신의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 왕이 되게 하셨도다 당신의 하나님이 이스라엘을 사랑하사 영원히 견고하게 하시려고 당신을 세워 저희 왕을 삼아 공과 의를 행하게 하셨도다 하고
  Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king to rule for the LORD your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king over them, to maintain justice and righteousness."

9. 이에 저가 금 일백이십 달란트와 심히 많은 향품과 보석을 왕께 드렸으니 스바 여왕이 솔로몬 왕께 드린 향품 같은 것이 전에는 없었더라
  Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. There had never been such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

10. (후람의 신복들과 솔로몬의 신복들도 오빌에서 금을 실어 올 때에 백단목과 보석을 가져온지라
  (The men of Hiram and the men of Solomon brought gold from Ophir; they also brought algumwood and precious stones.

11. 왕이 백단목으로 여호와의 전과 왕궁의 층대를 만들고 또 노래하는 자를 위하여 수금과 비파를 만들었으니 이같은 것들은 유다 땅에서 전에는 보지 못하였더라)
  The king used the algumwood to make steps for the temple of the LORD and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. Nothing like them had ever been seen in Judah.)

12. 솔로몬 왕이 스바 여왕의 가져온 대로 답례하고 그 외에 또 저의 소원대로 무릇 구하는 것을 주니 이에 저가 그 신복들로 더불어 본국으로 돌아갔더라
  King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.

13. 솔로몬의 세입금의 중수가 육백 육십 륙 금 달란트요
  The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,

14. 그 외에 또 상고와 객상들의 가져온 것이 있고 아라비아 왕들과 그 나라 방백들도 금과 은을 솔로몬에게 가져온지라
  not including the revenues brought in by merchants and traders. Also all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the land brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15. 솔로몬 왕이 쳐서 늘인 금으로 큰 방패 이백을 만들었으니 매방패에 든 금이 육백 세겔이며
  King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred bekas of hammered gold went into each shield.

16. 또 쳐서 늘인 금으로 작은 방패 삼백을 만들었으니 매방패에 든 금이 삼백 세겔이라 왕이 이것들을 레바논 나무 궁에 두었더라
  He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold, with three hundred bekas of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.

17. 왕이 또 상아로 큰 보좌를 만들고 정금으로 입혔으니
  Then the king made a great throne inlaid with ivory and overlaid with pure gold.

18. 그 보좌에는 여섯 층계와 금족대가 있어 보좌와 연하였고 앉는 자리 양편에는 팔걸이가 있고 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 하나씩 섰으며
  The throne had six steps, and a footstool of gold was attached to it. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them.

19. 또 열두 사자가 있어 그 여섯 층계 좌우편에 섰으니 아무 나라에도 이같이 만든 것이 없었더라
  Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom.

20. 솔로몬 왕의 마시는 그릇은 다 금이요 레바논 나무 궁의 그릇들도 다 정금이라 솔로몬의 시대에 은을 귀히 여기지 아니함은
  All King Solomon's goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon's day.

21. 왕의 배들이 후람의 종들과 함께 다시스로 다니며 그 배가 삼 년에 일차씩 금과 은과 상아와 잔나비와 공작을 실어 옴이더라
  The king had a fleet of trading ships manned by Hiram's men. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.

22. 솔로몬 왕의 재산과 지혜가 천하열왕보다 큰지라
  King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.

23. 천하열왕이 하나님께서 솔로몬의 마음에 주신 지혜를 들으며 그 얼굴을 보기 원하여
  All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

24. 각기 예물을 가지고 왔으니 곧 은그릇과 금그릇과 의복과 갑옷과 향품과 말과 노새라 해마다 정한 수가 있었더라
  Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift--articles of silver and gold, and robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.

25. 솔로몬의 병거 메는 말의 외양간이 사천이요 마병이 일만 이천이라 병거성에도 두고 예루살렘 왕에게도 두었으며
  Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.

26. 솔로몬이 유브라데 강에서부터 블레셋 땅과 애굽 지경까지의 열왕을 관할하였으며
  He ruled over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt.

27. 왕이 예루살렘에서 은을 돌같이 흔하게 하고 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무같이 많게 하였더라
  The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.

28. 솔로몬을 위하여 애굽과 각국에서 말들을 내어왔더라
  Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from all other countries.

29. 이 외에 솔로몬의 시종 행적은 선지자 나단의 글과 실로 사람 아히야의 예언과 선견자 잇도의 묵시책 곧 잇도가 느밧의 아들 여로보암에게 대하여 쓴 책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  As for the other events of Solomon's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Nathan the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?

30. 솔로몬이 예루살렘에서 온 이스라엘을 다스린 지 사십 년이라
  Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

31. 솔로몬이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 부친 다윗의 성에 장사되고 그 아들 르호보암이 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Then he rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son succeeded him as king.

유다서 1

1. 예수 그리스도의 종이요 야고보의 형제인 유다는 부르심을 입은 자 곧 하나님 아버지 안에서 사랑을 얻고 예수 그리스도를 위하여 지키심을 입은 자들에게 편지하노라
  Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ:

2. 긍휼과 평강과 사랑이 너희에게 더욱 많을찌어다
  Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

3. 사랑하는 자들아 내가 우리의 일반으로 얻은 구원을 들어 너희에게 편지하려는 뜻이 간절하던 차에 성도에게 단번에 주신 믿음의 도를 위하여 힘써 싸우라는 편지로 너희를 권하여야 할 필요를 느꼈노니
  Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.

4. 이는 가만히 들어온 사람 몇이 있음이라 저희는 옛적부터 이 판결을 받기로 미리 기록된 자니 경건치 아니하여 우리 하나님의 은혜를 도리어 색욕거리로 바꾸고 홀로 하나이신 주재 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 부인하는 자니라
  For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

5. 너희가 본래 범사를 알았으나 내가 너희로 다시 생각나게 하고자 하노라 주께서 백성을 애굽에서 구원하여 내시고 후에 믿지 아니하는 자들을 멸하셨으며
  Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

6. 또 자기 지위를 지키지 아니하고 자기 처소를 떠난 천사들을 큰 날의 심판까지 영원한 결박으로 흑암에 가두셨으며
  And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

7. 소돔과 고모라와 그 이웃 도시들도 저희와 같은 모양으로 간음을 행하며 다른 색을 따라가다가 영원한 불의 형벌을 받음으로 거울이 되었느니라
  In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

8. 그러한데 꿈꾸는 이 사람들도 그와 같이 육체를 더럽히며 권위를 업신여기며 영광을 훼방하는도다
  In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings.

9. 천사장 미가엘이 모세의 시체에 대하여 마귀와 다투어 변론할 때에 감히 훼방하는 판결을 쓰지 못하고 다만 말하되 주께서 너를 꾸짖으시기를 원하노라 하였거늘
  But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

10. 이 사람들은 무엇이든지 그 알지 못하는 것을 훼방하는도다 또 저희는 이성 없는 짐승같이 본능으로 아는 그것으로 멸망하느니라
  Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals--these are the very things that destroy them.

11. 화 있을찐저 이 사람들이여, 가인의 길에 행하였으며 삯을 위하여 발람의 어그러진 길로 몰려 갔으며 고라의 패역을 좇아 멸망을 받았도다
  Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion.

12. 저희는 기탄 없이 너희와 함께 먹으니 너의 애찬의 암초요 자기 몸만 기르는 목자요 바람에 불려가는 물 없는 구름이요 죽고 또 죽어 뿌리까지 뽑힌 열매 없는 가을 나무요
  These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead.

13. 자기의 수치의 거품을 뿜는 바다의 거친 물결이요 영원히 예비된 캄캄한 흑암에 돌아갈 유리하는 별들이라
  They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

14. 아담의 칠 세 손 에녹이 사람들에게 대하여도 예언하여 이르되 보라 주께서 그 수만의 거룩한 자와 함께 임하셨나니
  Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones

15. 이는 뭇 사람을 심판하사 모든 경건치 않은 자의 경건치 않게 행한 모든 경건치 않은 일과 또 경건치 않은 죄인의 주께 거스려 한 모든 강퍅한 말을 인하여 저희를 정죄하려 하심이라 하였느니라
  to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

16. 이 사람들은 원망하는 자며 불만을 토하는 자며 그 정욕대로 행하는 자라 그 입으로 자랑하는 말을 내며 이를 위하여 아첨하느니라
  These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

17. 사랑하는 자들아 너희는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 사도들의 미리 한 말을 기억하라
  But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.

18. 그들이 너희에게 말하기를 마지막 때에 자기의 경건치 않은 정욕대로 행하며 기롱하는 자들이 있으리라 하였나니
  They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires."

19. 이 사람들은 당을 짓는 자며 육에 속한 자며 성령은 없는 자니라
  These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20. 사랑하는 자들아 너희는 너희의 지극히 거룩한 믿음 위에 자기를 건축하며 성령으로 기도하며
  But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.

21. 하나님의 사랑 안에서 자기를 지키며 영생에 이르도록 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 긍휼을 기다리라
  Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22. 어떤 의심하는 자들을 긍휼히 여기라
  Be merciful to those who doubt;

23. 또 어떤 자를 불에서 끌어내어 구원하라 또 어떤 자를 그 육체로 더럽힌 옷이라도 싫어하여 두려움으로 긍휼히 여기라
  snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

24. 능히 너희를 보호하사 거침이 없게 하시고 너희로 그 영광 앞에 흠이 없이 즐거움으로 서게 하실 자
  To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy--

25. 곧 우리 구주 홀로 하나이신 하나님께 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 영광과 위엄과 권력과 권세가 만고 전부터 이제와 세세에 있을찌어다 아멘
  to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

스바냐 1

1. 아몬의 아들 유다 왕 요시아의 시대에 스바냐에게 임한 여호와의 말씀이라 스바냐는 히스기야의 현손이요 아마랴의 증손이요 그다랴의 손자요 구시의 아들이었더라
  The word of the LORD that came to Zephaniah son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, during the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah:

2. 여호와께서 가라사대 내가 지면에서 모든 것을 진멸하리라
  "I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth," declares the LORD.

3. 내가 사람과 짐승을 진멸하고 공중의 새와 바다의 고기와 거치게 하는 것과 악인들을 아울러 진멸할 것이라 내가 사람을 지면에서 멸절하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  "I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. The wicked will have only heaps of rubble when I cut off man from the face of the earth," declares the LORD.

4. 내가 유다와 예루살렘 모든 거민 위에 손을 펴서 바알의 남아 있는 것을 그 곳에서 멸절하며 그마림이란 이름과 및 그 제사장들을 아울러 멸절하며
  "I will stretch out my hand against Judah and against all who live in Jerusalem. I will cut off from this place every remnant of Baal, the names of the pagan and the idolatrous priests--

5. 무릇 지붕에서 하늘의 일월성신에게 경배하는 자와 경배하며 여호와께 맹세하면서 말감을 가리켜 맹세하는 자와
  those who bow down on the roofs to worship the starry host, those who bow down and swear by the LORD and who also swear by Molech,

6. 여호와를 배반하고 좇지 아니한 자와 여호와를 찾지도 아니하며 구하지도 아니한 자를 멸절하리라
  those who turn back from following the LORD and neither seek the LORD nor inquire of him.

7. 주 여호와 앞에서 잠잠할찌어다 이는 여호와의 날이 가까왔으므로 여호와가 희생을 준비하고 그 청할 자를 구별하였음이니라
  Be silent before the Sovereign LORD, for the day of the LORD is near. The LORD has prepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited.

8. 여호와의 희생의 날에 내가 방백들과 왕자들과 이방의 의복을 입은 자들을 벌할 것이며
  On the day of the LORD'S sacrifice I will punish the princes and the king's sons and all those clad in foreign clothes.

9. 그 날에 문턱을 뛰어 넘어서 강포와 궤휼로 자기 주인의 집에 채운 자들을 내가 벌하리라
  On that day I will punish all who avoid stepping on the threshold, who fill the temple of their gods with violence and deceit.

10. 나 여호와가 말하노라 그 날에 어문에서는 곡성이, 제 이 구역에서는 부르짖는 소리가, 작은 산들에서는 무너지는 소리가 일어나리라
  "On that day," declares the LORD, "a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, wailing from the New Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.

11. 막데스 거민들아 너희는 애곡하라 가나안 백성이 다 패망하고 은을 수운하는 자가 끊어졌음이니라
  Wail, you who live in the market district; all your merchants will be wiped out, all who trade with silver will be ruined.

12. 그 때에 내가 등불로 예루살렘에 두루 찾아 무릇 찌끼같이 가라앉아서 심중에 스스로 이르기를 여호와께서는 복도 내리지 아니하시며 화도 내리지 아니하시리라 하는 자를 벌하리니
  At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think, 'The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.'

13. 그들의 재물이 노략되며 그들의 집이 황무할 것이라 그들이 집을 건축하나 거기 거하지 못하며 포도원을 심으나 그 포도주를 마시지 못하리라
  Their wealth will be plundered, their houses demolished. They will build houses but not live in them; they will plant vineyards but not drink the wine.

14. 여호와의 큰 날이 가깝도다 가깝고도 심히 빠르도다 여호와의 날의 소리로다 용사가 거기서 심히 애곡하는도다
  "The great day of the LORD is near--near and coming quickly. Listen! The cry on the day of the LORD will be bitter, the shouting of the warrior there.

15. 그 날은 분노의 날이요 환난과 고통의 날이요 황무와 패괴의 날이요 캄캄하고 어두운 날이요 구름과 흑암의 날이요
  That day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

16. 나팔을 불어 경고하며 견고한 성읍을 치며 높은 망대를 치는 날이로다
  a day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities and against the corner towers.

17. 내가 사람들에게 고난을 내려 소경 같이 행하게 하리니 이는 그들이 나 여호와께 범죄하였음이라 또 그들의 피는 흘리워서 티끌같이 되며 그들의 살은 분토 같이 될찌라
  I will bring distress on the people and they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like filth.

18. 그들의 은과 금이 여호와의 분노의 날에 능히 그들을 건지지 못할 것이며 이 온 땅이 여호와의 질투의 불에 삼키우리니 이는 여호와가 이 땅 모든 거민을 멸절하되 놀랍게 멸절할 것임이니라
  Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD'S wrath. In the fire of his jealousy the whole world will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live in the earth."

누가복음 23

1. 무리가 다 일어나 예수를 빌라도에게 끌고 가서
  Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.

2. 고소하여 가로되 우리가 이 사람을 보매 우리 백성을 미혹하고 가이사에게 세 바치는 것을 금하며 자칭 왕 그리스도라 하더이다 하니
  And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king."

3. 빌라도가 예수께 물어 가로되 네가 유대인의 왕이냐 대답하여 가라사대 네 말이 옳도다
  So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.

4. 빌라도가 대제사장들과 무리에게 이르되 내가 보니 이 사람에게 죄가 없도다 하니
  Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."

5. 무리가 더욱 굳세게 말하되 저가 온 유대에서 가르치고 갈릴리에서부터 시작하여 여기까지 와서 백성을 소동케 하나이다
  But they insisted, "He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here."

6. 빌라도가 듣고 묻되 저가 갈릴리 사람이냐 하여
  On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.

7. 헤롯의 관할에 속한 줄을 알고 헤롯에게 보내니 때에 헤롯이 예루살렘에 있더라
  When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.

8. 헤롯이 예수를 보고 심히 기뻐하니 이는 그의 소문을 들었으므로 보고자 한 지 오래였고 또한 무엇이나 이적 행하심을 볼까 바랐던 연고러라
  When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform some miracle.

9. 여러 말로 물으나 아무 말도 대답지 아니하시니
  He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.

10. 대제사장들과 서기관들이 서서 힘써 고소하더라
  The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him.

11. 헤롯이 그 군병들과 함께 예수를 업신여기며 희롱하고 빛난 옷을 입혀 빌라도에게 도로 보내니
  Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate.

12. 헤롯과 빌라도가 전에는 원수이었으나 당일에 서로 친구가 되니라
  That day Herod and Pilate became friends--before this they had been enemies.

13. 빌라도가 대제사장들과 관원들과 백성을 불러 모으고
  Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,

14. 이르되 너희가 이 사람을 백성을 미혹하는 자라 하여 내게 끌어왔도다 보라 내가 너희 앞에서 사실하였으되 너희의 고소하는 일에 대하여 이 사람에게서 죄를 찾지 못하였고
  and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.

15. 헤롯이 또한 그렇게 하여 저를 우리에게 도로 보내었도다 보라 저의 행한 것은 죽일 일이 없느니라
  Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.

16. 그러므로 때려서 놓겠노라
  Therefore, I will punish him and then release him."

18. 무리가 일제히 소리질러 가로되 이 사람을 없이 하고 바라바를 우리에게 놓아 주소서 하니
  With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!"

19. 이 바라바는 성중에서 일어난 민란과 살인을 인하여 옥에 갇힌 자러라
  (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

20. 빌라도는 예수를 놓고자 하여 다시 저희에게 말하되
  Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.

21. 저희는 소리질러 가로되 저를 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 하는지라
  But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"

22. 빌라도가 세 번째 말하되 이 사람이 무슨 악한 일을 하였느냐 나는 그 죽일 죄를 찾지 못하였나니 때려서 놓으리라 한대
  For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."

23. 저희가 큰 소리로 재촉하여 십자가에 못 박기를 구하니 저희의 소리가 이긴지라
  But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.

24. 이에 빌라도가 저희의 구하는 대로 하기를 언도하고
  So Pilate decided to grant their demand.

25. 저희의 구하는 자 곧 민란과 살인을 인하여 옥에 갇힌 자를 놓고 예수를 넘겨 주어 저희 뜻대로 하게 하니라
  He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

26. 저희가 예수를 끌고 갈 때에 시몬이라는 구레네 사람이 시골로서 오는 것을 잡아 그에게 십자가를 지워 예수를 좇게 하더라
  As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.

27. 또 백성과 및 그를 위하여 가슴을 치며 슬피 우는 여자의 큰 무리가 따라오는지라
  A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.

28. 예수께서 돌이켜 그들을 향하여 가라사대 예루살렘의 딸들아 나를 위하여 울지 말고 너희와 너희 자녀를 위하여 울라
  Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.

29. 보라 날이 이르면 사람이 말하기를 수태 못하는 이와 해산하지 못한 배와 먹이지 못한 젖이 복이 있다 하리라
  For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!'

30. 그 때에 사람이 산들을 대하여 우리 위에 무너지라 하며 작은 산들을 대하여 우리를 덮으라 하리라
  Then "'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!" '

31. 푸른 나무에도 이같이 하거든 마른 나무에는 어떻게 되리요 하시니라
  For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"

32. 또 다른 두 행악자도 사형을 받게 되어 예수와 함께 끌려가니라
  Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.

33. 해골이라 하는 곳에 이르러 거기서 예수를 십자가에 못 박고 두 행악자도 그렇게 하니 하나는 우편에, 하나는 좌편에 있더라
  When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals--one on his right, the other on his left.

 

34. 이에 예수께서 가라사대 아버지여 저희를 사하여 주옵소서 자기의 하는 것을 알지 못함이니이다 하시더라 저희가 그의 옷을 나눠 제비 뽑을쌔
  Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

35. 백성은 서서 구경하며 관원들도 비웃어 가로되 저가 남을 구원하였으니 만일 하나님의 택하신 자 그리스도여든 자기도 구원할찌어다 하고
  The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

36. 군병들도 희롱하면서 나아와 신 포도주를 주며
  The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar

37. 가로되 네가 만일 유대인의 왕이어든 네가 너를 구원하라 하더라
  and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."

38. 그의 위에 이는 유대인의 왕이라 쓴 패가 있더라
  There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39. 달린 행악자 중 하나는 비방하여 가로되 네가 그리스도가 아니냐 너와 우리를 구원하라 하되
  One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

40. 하나는 그 사람을 꾸짖어 가로되 네가 동일한 정죄를 받고서도 하나님을 두려워 아니하느냐
  But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence?

41. 우리는 우리의 행한 일에 상당한 보응을 받는 것이니 이에 당연하거니와 이 사람의 행한 것은 옳지 않은 것이 없느니라 하고
  We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

42. 가로되 예수여 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 생각하소서 하니
  Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

43. 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라 하시니라
  Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

44. 때가 제 육 시쯤 되어 해가 빛을 잃고 온 땅에 어두움이 임하여 제 구 시까지 계속하며
  It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,

45. 성소의 휘장이 한가운데가 찢어지더라
  for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

46. 예수께서 큰 소리로 불러 가라사대 아버지여 내 영혼을 아버지 손에 부탁하나이다 하고 이 말씀을 하신 후 운명하시다
  Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

47. 백부장이 그 된 일을 보고 하나님께 영광을 돌려 가로되 이 사람은 정녕 의인이었도다 하고
  The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man."

48. 이를 구경하러 모인 무리도 그 된 일을 보고 다 가슴을 두드리며 돌아가고
  When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.

49. 예수의 아는 자들과 및 갈릴리로부터 따라온 여자들도 다 멀리 서서 이 일을 보니라
  But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

50. 공회 의원으로 선하고 의로운 요셉이라 하는 사람이 있으니
  Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,

51. (저희의 결의와 행사에 가타 하지 아니한 자라) 그는 유대인의 동네 아리마대 사람이요 하나님의 나라를 기다리는 자러니
  who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.

52. 빌라도에게 가서 예수의 시체를 달라 하여
  Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body.

53. 이를 내려 세마포로 싸고 아직 사람을 장사한 일이 없는 바위에 판 무덤에 넣어 두니
  Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.

54. 이 날은 예비일이요 안식일이 거의 되었더라
  It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55. 갈릴리에서 예수와 함께 온 여자들이 뒤를 좇아 그 무덤과 그의 시체를 어떻게 둔 것을 보고
  The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

56. 돌아가 향품과 향유를 예비하더라 계명을 좇아 안식일에 쉬더라
  Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
