역대하 6:12-42

12. 솔로몬이 여호와의 단 앞에서 이스라엘의 회중을 마주 서서 그 손을 펴니라
  Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.

13. 솔로몬이 이왕에 놋으로 대를 만들었으니 장이 다섯 규빗이요 광이 다섯 규빗이요 고가 세 규빗이라 뜰 가운데 두었더니 저가 그 위에 서서 이스라엘의 회중 앞에서 무릎을 꿇고 하늘을 향하여 손을 펴고
  Now he had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.

14. 가로되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와여 천지에 주와 같은 신이 없나이다 주께서는 온 마음으로 주의 앞에서 행하는 주의 종들에게 언약을 지키시고 은혜를 베푸시나이다
  He said: "O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth--you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.

15. 주께서 주의 종 내 아비 다윗에게 허하신 말씀을 지키시되 주의 입으로 말씀하신 것을 손으로 이루심이 오늘날과 같으니이다
  You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it--as it is today.

16. 이스라엘 하나님 여호와여 주께서 주의 종 내 아비 다윗에게 말씀하시기를 네 자손이 자기 길을 삼가서 네가 내 앞에서 행한 것같이 내 율법대로 행하기만 하면 네게로 좇아 나서 이스라엘 위에 앉을 사람이 내 앞에서 끊어지지 아니하리라 하셨사오니 이제 다윗을 위하여 그 허하신 말씀을 지키시옵소서
  "Now LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, 'You shall never fail to have a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.'

17. 그런즉 이스라엘 하나님 여호와여 원컨대 주는 주의 종 다윗에게 하신 말씀이 확실하게 하옵소서
  And now, O LORD, God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.

18. 하나님이 참으로 사람과 함께 땅에 거하시리이까 하늘과 하늘들의 하늘이라도 주를 용납지 못하겠거든 하물며 내가 건축한 이 전이오리이까
  "But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!

19. 그러나 나의 하나님 여호와여 종의 기도와 간구를 돌아보시며 종이 주의 앞에서 부르짖음과 비는 기도를 들으시옵소서
  Yet give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, O LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence.

20. 주께서 전에 말씀하시기를 내 이름을 거기 두리라 하신 곳 이 전을 향하여 주의 눈이 주야로 보옵시며 종이 이 곳을 향하여 비는 기도를 들으시옵소서
  May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.

21. 종과 주의 백성 이스라엘이 이 곳을 향하여 기도할 때에 주는 그 간구함을 들으시되 주의 계신 곳 하늘에서 들으시고 들으시사 사하여 주옵소서
  Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

22. 만일 어떤 사람이 그 이웃에게 범죄하므로 맹세시킴을 받고 저가 와서 이 전에 있는 주의 단 앞에서 맹세하거든
  "When a man wrongs his neighbor and is required to take an oath and he comes and swears the oath before your altar in this temple,

23. 주는 하늘에서 들으시고 행하시되 주의 종들을 국문하사 악한 자의 죄를 정하여 그 행위대로 그 머리에 돌리시고 의로운 자를 의롭다 하사 그 의로운 대로 갚으시옵소서
  then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, repaying the guilty by bringing down on his own head what he has done. Declare the innocent not guilty and so establish his innocence.

24. 만일 주의 백성 이스라엘이 주께 범죄하여 적국 앞에 패하게 되므로 주께로 돌아와서 주의 이름을 인정하고 이 전에서 주께 빌며 간구하거든
  "When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and confess your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple,

25. 주는 하늘에서 들으시고 주의 백성 이스라엘의 죄를 사하시고 그와 그 열조에게 주신 땅으로 돌아오게 하옵소서
  then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their fathers.

26. 만일 저희가 주께 범죄함을 인하여 하늘이 닫히고 비가 없어서 주의 벌을 받을 때에 이 곳을 향하여 빌며 주의 이름을 인정하고 그 죄에서 떠나거든
  "When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,

27. 주는 하늘에서 들으사 주의 종들과 주의 백성 이스라엘의 죄를 사하시고 그 마땅히 행할 선한 길을 가르쳐 주옵시며 주의 백성에게 기업으로 주신 주의 땅에 비를 내리시옵소서
  then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.

28. 만일 이 땅에 기근이나 온역이 있거나 곡식이 시들거나 깜부기가 나거나 메뚜기나 황충이 나거나 적국이 와서 성읍을 에워싸거나 무슨 재앙이나 무슨 질병이 있든지 무론하고
  "When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come,

29. 한 사람이나 혹 주의 온 백성 이스라엘이 다 각각 자기의 마음에 재앙과 고통을 깨닫고 이 전을 향하여 손을 펴고 무슨 기도나 무슨 간구를 하거든
  and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel--each one aware of his afflictions and pains, and spreading out his hands toward this temple--

30. 주는 계신 곳 하늘에서 들으시며 사유하시되 각 사람의 마음을 아시오니 그 모든 행위대로 갚으시옵소서 주만 홀로 인생의 마음을 아심이니이다
  then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of men),

31. 그리하시면 저희가 주께서 우리 열조에게 주신 땅에서 사는 동안에 항상 주를 경외하며 주의 길로 행하리이다
  so that they will fear you and walk in your ways all the time they live in the land you gave our fathers.

32. 주의 백성 이스라엘에 속하지 않은 이방인에게 대하여도 저희가 주의 큰 이름과 능한 손과 펴신 팔을 위하여 먼 지방에서 와서 이 전을 향하여 기도하거든
  "As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm--when he comes and prays toward this temple,

33. 주는 계신 곳 하늘에서 들으시고 무릇 이방인이 주께 부르짖는 대로 이루사 땅의 만민으로 주의 이름을 알고 주의 백성 이스라엘처럼 경외하게 하옵시며 또 내가 건축한 이 전을 주의 이름으로 일컫는 줄을 알게 하옵소서
  then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.

34. 주의 백성이 그 적국으로 더불어 싸우고자 하여 주의 보내신 길로 나갈 때에 저희가 주의 빼신 이 성과 내가 주의 이름을 위하여 건축한 전 있는 편을 향하여 여호와께 기도하거든
  "When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,

35. 주는 하늘에서 저희의 기도와 간구를 들으시고 그 일을 돌아보옵소서
  then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

36. 범죄치 아니하는 사람이 없사오니 저희가 주께 범죄하므로 주께서 저희에게 진노하사 저희를 적국에게 붙이시매 적국이 저희를 사로잡아 땅의 원근을 물론하고 끌어간 후에
  "When they sin against you--for there is no one who does not sin--and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near;

37. 저희가 사로잡혀 간 땅에서 스스로 깨닫고 그 사로잡은 자의 땅에서 돌이켜 주께 간구하기를 우리가 범죄하여 패역을 행하며 악을 지었나이다 하며
  and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly';

38. 자기를 사로잡아 간 적국의 땅에서 온 마음과 온 뜻으로 주께 돌아와서 주께서 그 열조에게 주신 땅과 주의 빼신 성과 내가 주의 이름을 위하여 건축한 전 있는 편을 향하여 기도하거든
  and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their fathers, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name;

39. 주는 계신 곳 하늘에서 저희의 기도와 간구를 들으시고 저희의 일을 돌아보옵시며 주께 득죄한 주의 백성을 용서하옵소서
  then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.

40. 나의 하나님이여 이제 이 곳에서 하는 기도에 눈을 드시고 귀를 기울이소서
  "Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

41. 여호와 하나님이여 일어나 들어가사 주의 능력의 궤와 함께 주의 평안한 처소에 계시옵소서 여호와 하나님이여 원컨대 주의 제사장으로 구원을 입게 하시고 또 주의 성도로 은혜를 기뻐하게 하옵소서
  "Now arise, O LORD God, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. May your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, may your saints rejoice in your goodness.

42. 여호와 하나님이여 주의 기름 부음받은 자에게서 얼굴을 돌이키지 마옵시고 주의 종 다윗에게 베푸신 은총을 기억하옵소서
  O LORD God, do not reject your anointed one. Remember the great love promised to David your servant."

요한일서 5

1. 예수께서 그리스도이심을 믿는 자마다 하나님께로서 난 자니 또한 내신 이를 사랑하는 자마다 그에게서 난 자를 사랑하느니라
  Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

2. 우리가 하나님을 사랑하고 그의 계명들을 지킬 때에 이로써 우리가 하나님의 자녀 사랑하는 줄을 아느니라
  This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.

3. 하나님을 사랑하는 것은 이것이니 우리가 그의 계명들을 지키는 것이라 그의 계명들은 무거운 것이 아니로다
  This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

4. 대저 하나님께로서 난 자마다 세상을 이기느니라 세상을 이긴 이김은 이것이니 우리의 믿음이니라
  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

5. 예수께서 하나님의 아들이심을 믿는 자가 아니면 세상을 이기는 자가 누구뇨
  Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

6. 이는 물과 피로 임하신 자니 곧 예수 그리스도시라 물로만 아니요 물과 피로 임하셨고
  This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

7. 증거하는 이는 성령이시니 성령은 진리니라
  For there are three that testify:

8. 증거하는 이가 셋이니 성령과 물과 피라 또한 이 셋이 합하여 하나이니라
  the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

9. 만일 우리가 사람들의 증거를 받을찐대 하나님의 증거는 더욱 크도다 하나님의 증거는 이것이니 그 아들에 관하여 증거하신 것이니라
  We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.

10. 하나님의 아들을 믿는 자는 자기 안에 증거가 있고 하나님을 믿지 아니하는 자는 하나님을 거짓말하는 자로 만드나니 이는 하나님께서 그 아들에 관하여 증거하신 증거를 믿지 아니하였음이라
  Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.

11. 또 증거는 이것이니 하나님이 우리에게 영생을 주신 것과 이 생명이 그의 아들 안에 있는 그것이니라
  And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12. 아들이 있는 자에게는 생명이 있고 하나님의 아들이 없는 자에게는 생명이 없느니라
  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13. 내가 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿는 너희에게 이것을 쓴 것은 너희로 하여금 너희에게 영생이 있음을 알게 하려 함이라
  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

14. 그를 향하여 우리의 가진 바 담대한 것이 이것이니 그의 뜻대로 무엇을 구하면 들으심이라
  This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

15. 우리가 무엇이든지 구하는 바를 들으시는 줄을 안즉 우리가 그에게 구한 그것을 얻은 줄을 또한 아느니라
  And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.

16. 누구든지 형제가 사망에 이르지 아니한 죄 범하는 것을 보거든 구하라 그러면 사망에 이르지 아니하는 범죄자들을 위하여 저에게 생명을 주시리라 사망에 이르는 죄가 있으니 이에 대하여 나는 구하라 하지 않노라
  If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.

17. 모든 불의가 죄로되 사망에 이르지 아니하는 죄도 있도다
  All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.

18. 하나님께로서 난 자마다 범죄치 아니하는 줄을 우리가 아노라 하나님께로서 나신 자가 저를 지키시매 악한 자가 저를 만지지도 못하느니라
  We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.

19. 또 아는 것은 우리는 하나님께 속하고 온 세상은 악한 자 안에 처한 것이며
  We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

20. 또 아는 것은 하나님의 아들이 이르러 우리에게 지각을 주사 우리로 참된 자를 알게 하신 것과 또한 우리가 참된 자 곧 그의 아들 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 것이니 그는 참 하나님이시요 영생이시라
  We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

21. 자녀들아 너희 자신을 지켜 우상에서 멀리하라
  Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.

하박국 1

1. 선지자 하박국의 묵시로 받은 경고라
  The oracle that Habakkuk the prophet received.

2. 여호와여 내가 부르짖어도 주께서 듣지 아니하시니 어느 때까지리이까 내가 강포를 인하여 외쳐도 주께서 구원치 아니하시나이다
  How long, O LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, "Violence!" but you do not save?

3. 어찌하여 나로 간악을 보게 하시며 패역을 목도하게 하시나이까 대저 겁탈과 강포가 내 앞에 있고 변론과 분쟁이 일어났나이다
  Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.

4. 이러므로 율법이 해이하고 공의가 아주 시행되지 못하오니 이는 악인이 의인을 에워쌌으므로 공의가 굽게 행함이니이다
  Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.

5. 여호와께서 가라사대 너희는 열국을 보고 또 보고 놀라고 또 놀랄찌어다 너희 생전에 내가 한 일을 행할 것이라 혹이 너희에게 고할찌라도 너희가 믿지 아니하리라
  "Look at the nations and watch--and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.

6. 보라 내가 사납고 성급한 백성 곧 땅의 넓은 곳으로 다니며 자기의 소유 아닌 거할 곳들을 점령하는 갈대아 사람을 일으켰나니
  I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwelling places not their own.

7. 그들은 두렵고 무서우며 심판과 위령이 자기로 말미암으며
  They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor.

8. 그 말은 표범보다 빠르고 저녁 이리보다 사나우며 그 기병은 원방에서부터 빨리 달려오는 기병이라 마치 식물을 움키려 하는 독수리의 날음과 같으니라
  Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar. They fly like a vulture swooping to devour;

9. 그들은 다 강포를 행하러 오는데 앞을 향하여 나아가며 사람을 사로잡아 모으기를 모래같이 많이 할 것이요
  they all come bent on violence. Their hordes advance like a desert wind and gather prisoners like sand.

10. 열왕을 멸시하며 방백을 치소하며 모든 견고한 성을 비웃고 흉벽을 쌓아 그것을 취할 것이라
  They deride kings and scoff at rulers. They laugh at all fortified cities; they build earthen ramps and capture them.

11. 그들은 그 힘으로 자기 신을 삼는 자라 이에 바람같이 급히 몰아 지나치게 행하여 득죄하리라
  Then they sweep past like the wind and go on--guilty men, whose own strength is their god."

12. 선지가 가로되 여호와 나의 하나님, 나의 거룩한 자시여 주께서는 만세 전부터 계시지 아니하시니이까 우리가 사망에 이르지 아니하리이다 여호와여 주께서 심판하기 위하여 그를 두셨나이다 반석이시여 주께서 경계하기 위하여 그를 세우셨나이다
  O LORD, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, we will not die. O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, you have ordained them to punish.

13. 주께서는 눈이 정결하시므로 악을 참아 보지 못하시며 패역을 참아 보지 못하시거늘 어찌하여 궤휼한 자들을 방관하시며 악인이 자기보다 의로운 사람을 삼키되 잠잠하시나이까
  Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?

14. 주께서 어찌하여 사람으로 바다의 어족 같게 하시며 주권자 없는 곤충 같게 하시나이까
  You have made men like fish in the sea, like sea creatures that have no ruler.

15. 그가 낚시로 모두 취하며 그물로 잡으며 초망으로 모으고 인하여 기뻐하고 즐거워하여
  The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet; and so he rejoices and is glad.

16. 그물에 제사하며 초망 앞에 분향하오니 이는 그것을 힘입어 소득이 풍부하고 식물이 풍성케 됨이니이다
  Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choicest food.

17. 그가 그물을 떨고는 연하여 늘 열국을 살륙함이 옳으니이까
  Is he to keep on emptying his net, destroying nations without mercy?

누가복음 20

1. 하루는 예수께서 성전에서 백성을 가르치시며 복음을 전하실쌔 대제사장들과 서기관들이 장로들과 함께 가까이 와서
  One day as he was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.

2. 말하여 가로되 당신이 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 하는지 이 권세를 준 이가 누구인지 우리에게 말하라
  "Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?"

3. 대답하여 가라사대 나도 한 말을 너희에게 물으리니 내게 말하라
  He replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me,

4. 요한의 세례가 하늘로서냐 사람에게로서냐
  John's baptism--was it from heaven, or from men?"

5. 저희가 서로 의논하여 가로되 만일 하늘로서라 하면 어찌하여 저를 믿지 아니하였느냐 할 것이요
  They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Why didn't you believe him?'

6. 만일 사람에게로서라 하면 백성이 요한을 선지자로 인정하니 저희가 다 우리를 돌로 칠 것이라 하고
  But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet."

7. 대답하되 어디로서인지 알지 못하노라 하니
  So they answered, "We don't know where it was from."

8. 예수께서 이르시되 나도 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 하는지 너희에게 이르지 아니하리라 하시니라
  Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

9. 이 비유로 백성에게 말씀하시되 한 사람이 포도원을 만들어 농부들에게 세로 주고 타국에 가서 오래 있다가
  He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.

10. 때가 이르매 포도원 소출 얼마를 바치게 하려고 한 종을 농부들에게 보내니 농부들이 종을 심히 때리고 거저 보내었거늘
  At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

11. 다시 다른 종을 보내니 그도 심히 때리고 능욕하고 거저 보내었거늘
  He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed.

12. 다시 세 번째 종을 보내니 이도 상하게 하고 내어쫓은지라
  He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.

13. 포도원 주인이 가로되 어찌할꼬 내 사랑하는 아들을 보내리니 저희가 혹 그는 공경하리라 하였더니
  "Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.'

14. 농부들이 그를 보고 서로 의논하여 가로되 이는 상속자니 죽이고 그 유업을 우리의 것으로 만들자 하고
  "But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. 'This is the heir,' they said. 'Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'

15. 포도원 밖에 내어쫓아 죽였느니라 그런즉 포도원 주인이 이 사람들을 어떻게 하겠느뇨
  So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

16. 와서 그 농부들을 진멸하고 포도원을 다른 사람들에게 주리라 하시니 사람들이 듣고 가로되 그렇게 되지 말아지이다 하거늘
  He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never be!"

17. 저희를 보시며 가라사대 그러면 기록된 바 건축자들의 버린 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되었느니라 함이 어찜이뇨
  Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone'?

18. 무릇 이 돌 위에 떨어지는 자는 깨어지겠고 이 돌이 사람 위에 떨어지면 저로 가루를 만들어 흩으리라 하시니라
  Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."

19. 서기관들과 대제사장들이 예수의 이 비유는 자기들을 가리켜 말씀하심인 줄 알고 즉시 잡고자 하되 백성을 두려워하더라
  The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.

20. 이에 저희가 엿보다가 예수를 총독의 치리와 권세 아래 붙이려 하여 정탐들을 보내어 그들로 스스로 의인인 체하며 예수의 말을 책잡게 하니
  Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.

21. 그들이 물어 가로되 선생님이여 우리가 아노니 당신은 바로 말씀하시고 가르치시며 사람을 외모로 취치 아니하시고 오직 참으로서 하나님의 도를 가르치시나이다
  So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.

22. 우리가 가이사에게 세를 바치는 것이 가하니이까 불가하니이까 하니
  Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

23. 예수께서 그 간계를 아시고 가라사대
  He saw through their duplicity and said to them,

24. 데나리온 하나를 내게 보이라 뉘 화상과 글이 여기 있느냐 대답하되 가이사의 것이니이다
  "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"

25. 가라사대 그런즉 가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라 하시니
  "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

26. 저희가 백성 앞에서 그의 말을 능히 책잡지 못하고 그의 대답을 기이히 여겨 잠잠하니라
  They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.

27. 부활이 없다 주장하는 사두개인 중 어떤 이들이 와서
  Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.

28. 물어 가로되 선생님이여 모세가 우리에게 써 주기를 사람의 형이 만일 아내를 두고 자식이 없이 죽거든 그 동생이 그 아내를 취하여 형을 위하여 후사를 세울찌니라 하였나이다
  "Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother.

29. 그런데 칠 형제가 있었는데 맏이 아내를 취하였다가 자식이 없이 죽고
  Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless.

30. 그 둘째와 세째가 저를 취하고
  The second

31. 일곱이 다 그와 같이 자식이 없이 죽고
  and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children.

32. 그 후에 여자도 죽었나이다
  Finally, the woman died too.

33. 일곱이 다 저를 아내로 취하였으니 부활 때에 그 중에 뉘 아내가 되리이까
  Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?"

34. 예수께서 이르시되 이 세상의 자녀들은 장가도 가고 시집도 가되
  Jesus replied, "The people of this age marry and are given in marriage.

35. 저 세상과 및 죽은 자 가운데서 부활함을 얻기에 합당히 여김을 입은 자들은 장가가고 시집가는 일이 없으며
  But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage,

36. 저희는 다시 죽을 수도 없나니 이는 천사와 동등이요 부활의 자녀로서 하나님의 자녀임이니라
  and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection.

37. 죽은 자의 살아난다는 것은 모세도 가시나무떨기에 관한 글에 보였으되 주를 아브라함의 하나님이요 이삭의 하나님이요 야곱의 하나님이시라 칭하였나니
  But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'

38. 하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 산 자의 하나님이시라 하나님에게는 모든 사람이 살았느니라 하시니
  He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive."

39. 서기관 중 어떤 이들이 말하되 선생이여 말씀이 옳으니이다 하니
  Some of the teachers of the law responded, "Well said, teacher!"

40. 저희는 아무것도 감히 더 물을 수 없음이더라
  And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

41. 예수께서 저희에게 이르시되 사람들이 어찌하여 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라 하느냐
  Then Jesus said to them, "How is it that they say the Christ is the Son of David?

42. 시편에 다윗이 친히 말하였으되 주께서 내 주께 이르시되
  David himself declares in the Book of Psalms: "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand

43. 내가 네 원수를 네 발의 발등상으로 둘 때까지 내 우편에 앉았으라 하셨도다 하였느니라
  until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '

44. 그런즉 다윗이 그리스도를 주라 칭하였으니 어찌 그의 자손이 되겠느뇨 하시니라
  David calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?"

45. 모든 백성이 들을 때에 예수께서 그 제자들에게 이르시되
  While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,

46. 긴 옷을 입고 다니는 것을 원하며 시장에서 문안받는 것과 회당의 상좌와 잔치의 상석을 좋아하는 서기관들을 삼가라
  "Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.

47. 저희는 과부의 가산을 삼키며 외식으로 길게 기도하니 그 받는 판결이 더욱 중하리라 하시니라
  They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
