역대하 11-12

1. 르호보암이 예루살렘에 이르러 유다와 베냐민 족속을 모으니 택한 용사가 십팔만이라 이스라엘과 싸워 나라를 회복하여 르호보암에게 돌리려 하더니
  When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mustered the house of Judah and Benjamin--a hundred and eighty thousand fighting men--to make war against Israel and to regain the kingdom for Rehoboam.

2. 여호와의 말씀이 하나님의 사람 스마야에게 임하여 가라사대
  But this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God:

3. 솔로몬의 아들 유다 왕 르호보암과 유다와 베냐민의 이스라엘 무리에게 고하여 이르기를
  "Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin,

4. 여호와의 말씀이 너희는 올라가지 말라 너희 형제와 싸우지 말고 각기 집으로 돌아가라 이 일이 내게로 말미암아 난 것이라 하셨다 하라 하신지라 저희가 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 돌아가고 여로보암을 치러 가지 아니하였더라
  'This is what the LORD says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.'" So they obeyed the words of the LORD and turned back from marching against Jeroboam.

5. 르호보암이 예루살렘에 거하여 유다 땅에 방비하는 성읍들을 건축하였으니
  Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built up towns for defense in Judah:

6. 곧 베들레헴과 에담과 드고아와
  Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,

7. 벧술과 소고와 아둘람과
  Beth Zur, Soco, Adullam,

8. 가드와 마레사와 십과
  Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,

9. 아도라임과 라기스와 아세가와
  Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,

10. 소라와 아얄론과 헤브론이니 다 유다와 베냐민 땅에 있어 견고한 성읍이라
  Zorah, Aijalon and Hebron. These were fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.

11. 르호보암이 이 모든 성읍을 더욱 견고케 하고 장관을 그 가운데 두고 양식과 기름과 포도주를 저축하고
  He strengthened their defenses and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, olive oil and wine.

12. 각 성읍에 방패와 창을 두어 심히 강하게 하니라 유다와 베냐민이 르호보암에게 속하였더라
  He put shields and spears in all the cities, and made them very strong. So Judah and Benjamin were his.

13. 온 이스라엘의 제사장과 레위 사람이 그 모든 지방에서부터 르호보암에게 돌아오되
  The priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel sided with him.

14. 레위 사람이 그 향리와 산업을 떠나 유다와 예루살렘에 이르렀으니 이는 여로보암과 그 아들들이 저희를 폐하여 여호와께 제사장의 직분을 행치 못하게 하고
  The Levites even abandoned their pasturelands and property, and came to Judah and Jerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.

15. 여로보암이 여러 산당과 수염소 우상과 자기가 만든 송아지 우상을 위하여 스스로 제사장들을 세움이라
  And he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat and calf idols he had made.

16. 이스라엘 모든 지파 중에 마음을 오로지하여 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 구하는 자들이 레위 사람을 따라 예루살렘에 이르러 그 열조의 하나님 여호와께 제사하고자 한지라
  Those from every tribe of Israel who set their hearts on seeking the LORD, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

17. 그러므로 삼 년 동안 유다 나라를 도와 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 강성하게 하였으니 이는 무리가 삼 년을 다윗과 솔로몬의 길로 행하였음이더라
  They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon three years, walking in the ways of David and Solomon during this time.

18. 르호보암이 다윗의 아들 여리못의 딸 마할랏으로 아내를 삼았으니 마할랏은 이새의 아들 엘리압의 딸 아비하일의 소생이라
  Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David's son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse's son Eliab.

19. 그가 아들들 곧 여우스와 스마랴와 사함을 낳았으며
  She bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.

20. 그 후에 압살롬의 딸 마아가에게 장가들었더니 저가 아비야와 앗대와 시사와 슬로밋을 낳았더라
  Then he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.

21. 르호보암이 아내 십팔과 첩 육십을 취하여 아들 이십팔과 딸 육십을 낳았으나 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 모든 처첩보다 더 사랑하여
  Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

22. 마아가의 아들 아비야를 세워 장자를 삼아 형제 중에 머리가 되게 하였으니 이는 저로 왕이 되게 하고자 함이라
  Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah to be the chief prince among his brothers, in order to make him king.

23. 르호보암이 지혜롭게 행하여 그 모든 아들을 유다와 베냐민의 온 땅 모든 견고한 성읍에 흩어 살게 하고 양식을 후히 주고 아내를 많이 구하여 주었더라
  He acted wisely, dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and took many wives for them.

1. 르호보암이 나라가 견고하고 세력이 강하매 여호와의 율법을 버리니 온 이스라엘이 본받은지라
  After Rehoboam's position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the LORD.

2. 저희가 여호와께 범죄하였으므로 르호보암 왕 오년에 애굽 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라오니
  Because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam.

3. 저에게 병거가 일천 이백승이요 마병이 육만이며 애굽에서 좇아나온 무리 곧 훕과 숩과 구스 사람이 불가승수라
  With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen and the innumerable troops of Libyans, Sukkites and Cushites that came with him from Egypt,

4. 시삭이 유다의 견고한 성읍을 취하고 예루살렘에 이르니
  he captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.

5. 때에 유다 방백들이 시삭을 인하여 예루살렘에 모였는지라 선지자 스마야가 르호보암과 방백들에게 나아와 가로되 여호와의 말씀이 너희가 나를 버렸으므로 나도 너희를 버려 시삭의 손에 붙였노라 하셨다 한지라
  Then the prophet Shemaiah came to Rehoboam and to the leaders of Judah who had assembled in Jerusalem for fear of Shishak, and he said to them, "This is what the LORD says, 'You have abandoned me; therefore, I now abandon you to Shishak.'"

6. 이에 이스라엘 방백들과 왕이 스스로 겸비하여 가로되 여호와는 의로우시다 하매
  The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, "The LORD is just."

7. 여호와께서 저희의 스스로 겸비함을 보신지라 여호와의 말씀이 스마야에게 임하여 가라사대 저희가 스스로 겸비하였으니 내가 멸하지 아니하고 대강 구원하여 나의 노를 시삭의 손으로 예루살렘에 쏟지 아니하리라
  When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah: "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.

8. 그러나 저희가 시삭의 종이 되어 나를 섬기는 것과 열국을 섬기는 것이 어떠한지 알게 되리라 하셨더라
  They will, however, become subject to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands."

9. 애굽 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고 여호와의 전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 몰수히 빼앗고 솔로몬의 만든 금방패도 빼앗은지라
  When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the LORD and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields Solomon had made.

10. 르호보암 왕이 그 대신에 놋으로 방패를 만들어 궁문을 지키는 시위대 장관들의 손에 맡기매
  So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.

11. 왕이 여호와의 전에 들어갈 때마다 시위하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 시위소로 도로 가져갔더라
  Whenever the king went to the LORD'S temple, the guards went with him, bearing the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom.

12. 르호보암이 스스로 겸비하였고 유다에 선한 일도 있으므로 여호와께서 노를 돌이키사 다 멸하지 아니하셨더라
  Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the LORD'S anger turned from him, and he was not totally destroyed. Indeed, there was some good in Judah.

13. 르호보암 왕이 예루살렘에서 스스로 강하게 하여 치리하니라 르호보암이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 사십일 세라 예루살렘 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘 모든 지파 중에서 택하여 그 이름을 두신 성에서 십칠 년을 치리하니라 르호보암의 모친의 이름은 나아마라 암몬 여인이더라
  King Rehoboam established himself firmly in Jerusalem and continued as king. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his Name. His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.

14. 르호보암이 마음을 오로지하여 여호와를 구하지 아니함으로 악을 행하였더라
  He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the LORD.

15. 르호보암의 시종 행적은 선지자 스마야와 선견자 잇도의 족보책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라
  As for the events of Rehoboam's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer that deal with genealogies? There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

16. 르호보암이 그 열조와 함께 자매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그 아들 아비야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And Abijah his son succeeded him as king.

요한계시록 2

1. 에베소 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 오른손에 일곱 별을 붙잡고 일곱 금촛대 사이에 다니시는 이가 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands:

2. 내가 네 행위와 수고와 네 인내를 알고 또 악한 자들을 용납지 아니한 것과 자칭 사도라 하되 아닌 자들을 시험하여 그 거짓된 것을 네가 드러낸 것과
  I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.

3. 또 네가 참고 내 이름을 위하여 견디고 게으르지 아니한 것을 아노라
  You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

4. 그러나 너를 책망할 것이 있나니 너의 처음 사랑을 버렸느니라
  Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

5. 그러므로 어디서 떨어진 것을 생각하고 회개하여 처음 행위를 가지라 만일 그리하지 아니하고 회개치 아니하면 내가 네게 임하여 네 촛대를 그 자리에서 옮기리라
  Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

6. 오직 네게 이것이 있으니 네가 니골라당의 행위를 미워하는도다 나도 이것을 미워하노라
  But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

7. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다 이기는 그에게는 내가 하나님의 낙원에 있는 생명나무의 과실을 주어 먹게 하리라
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

8. 서머나 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 처음이요 나중이요 죽었다가 살아나신 이가 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.

9. 내가 네 환난과 궁핍을 아노니 실상은 네가 부요한 자니라 자칭 유대인이라 하는 자들의 훼방도 아노니 실상은 유대인이 아니요 사단의 회라
  I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

10. 네가 장차 받을 고난을 두려워 말라 볼찌어다 마귀가 장차 너희 가운데서 몇 사람을 옥에 던져 시험을 받게 하리니 너희가 십일 동안 환난을 받으리라 네가 죽도록 충성하라 그리하면 내가 생명의 면류관을 네게 주리라
  Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

11. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다 이기는 자는 둘째 사망의 해를 받지 아니하리라
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

12. 버가모 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 좌우에 날선 검을 가진 이가 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.

13. 네가 어디 사는 것을 내가 아노니 거기는 사단의 위가 있는 데라 네가 내 이름을 굳게 잡아서 내 충성된 증인 안디바가 너희 가운데 곧 사단의 거하는 곳에서 죽임을 당할 때에도 나를 믿는 믿음을 저버리지 아니하였도다
  I know where you live--where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city--where Satan lives.

14. 그러나 네게 두어 가지 책망할 것이 있나니 거기 네게 발람의 교훈을 지키는 자들이 있도다 발람이 발락을 가르쳐 이스라엘 앞에 올무를 놓아 우상의 제물을 먹게 하였고 또 행음하게 하였느니라
  Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality.

15. 이와 같이 네게도 니골라당의 교훈을 지키는 자들이 있도다
  Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

16. 그러므로 회개하라 그리하지 아니하면 내가 네게 속히 임하여 내 입의 검으로 그들과 싸우리라
  Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

17. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다 이기는 그에게는 내가 감추었던 만나를 주고 또 흰 돌을 줄터인데 그 돌 위에 새 이름을 기록한 것이 있나니 받는 자 밖에는 그 이름을 알 사람이 없느니라
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.

18. 두아디라 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 그 눈이 불꽃 같고 그 발이 빛난 주석과 같은 하나님의 아들이 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.

19. 내가 네 사업과 사랑과 믿음과 섬김과 인내를 아노니 네 나중 행위가 처음 것보다 많도다
  I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

20. 그러나 네게 책망할 일이 있노라 자칭 선지자라 하는 여자 이세벨을 네가 용납함이니 그가 내 종들을 가르쳐 꾀어 행음하게 하고 우상의 제물을 먹게 하는도다
  Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.

21. 또 내가 그에게 회개할 기회를 주었으되 그 음행을 회개하고자 아니하는도다
  I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.

22. 볼찌어다 내가 그를 침상에 던질터이요 또 그로 더불어 간음하는 자들도 만일 그의 행위를 회개치 아니하면 큰 환난 가운데 던지고
  So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

23. 또 내가 사망으로 그의 자녀를 죽이리니 모든 교회가 나는 사람의 뜻과 마음을 살피는 자인줄 알찌라 내가 너희 각 사람의 행위 대로 갚아 주리라
  I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

24. 두아디라에 남아 있어 이 교훈을 받지 아니하고 소위 사단의 깊은 것을 알지 못하는 너희에게 말하노니 다른 짐으로 너희에게 지울 것이 없노라
  Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you):

25. 다만 너희에게 있는 것을 내가 올 때까지 굳게 잡으라
  Only hold on to what you have until I come.

26. 이기는 자와 끝까지 내 일을 지키는 그에게 만국을 다스리는 권세를 주리니
  To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations--

27. 그가 철장을 가지고 저희를 다스려 질그릇 깨뜨리는 것과 같이 하리라 나도 내 아버지께 받은 것이 그러하니라
  'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--just as I have received authority from my Father.

28. 내가 또 그에게 새벽 별을 주리라
  I will also give him the morning star.

29. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

스바냐 3

1. 패역하고 더러운 곳, 포학한 그 성읍이 화 있을찐저
  Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled!

2. 그가 명령을 듣지 아니하며 교훈을 받지 아니하며 여호와를 의뢰하지 아니하며 자기 하나님에게 가까이 나아가지 아니하였도다
  She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the LORD, she does not draw near to her God.

3. 그 가운데 방백들은 부르짖는 사자요 그 재판장들은 이튿날까지 남겨 두는 것이 없는 저녁 이리요
  Her officials are roaring lions, her rulers are evening wolves, who leave nothing for the morning.

4. 그 선지자들은 위인이 경솔하고 간사한 자요 그 제사장들은 성소를 더럽히고 율법을 범하였도다
  Her prophets are arrogant; they are treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary and do violence to the law.

5. 그 중에 거하신 여호와는 의로우사 불의를 행치 아니하시고 아침마다 간단없이 자기의 공의를 나타내시거늘 불의한 자는 수치를 알지 못하는도다
  The LORD within her is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame.

6. 내가 열국을 끊어 버렸으므로 그 망대가 황무하였고 내가 그 거리를 비게 하여 지나는 자가 없게 하였으므로 그 모든 성읍이 황폐되며 사람이 없으며 거할 자가 없게 되었느니라
  "I have cut off nations; their strongholds are demolished. I have left their streets deserted, with no one passing through. Their cities are destroyed; no one will be left--no one at all.

7. 내가 이르기를 너는 오직 나를 경외하고 교훈을 받으라 그리하면 내가 형벌을 내리기로 정하기는 하였거니와 너의 거처가 끊어지지 아니하리라 하였으나 그들이 부지런히 그 모든 행위를 더럽게 하였느니라
  I said to the city, 'Surely you will fear me and accept correction!' Then her dwelling would not be cut off, nor all my punishments come upon her. But they were still eager to act corruptly in all they did.

8. 나 여호와가 말하노라 그러므로 내가 일어나 벌할 날까지 너희는 나를 기다리라 내가 뜻을 정하고 나의 분한과 모든 진노를 쏟으려고 나라들을 소집하며 열국을 모으리라 온 땅이 나의 질투의 불에 소멸되리라
  Therefore wait for me," declares the LORD, "for the day I will stand up to testify. I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out my wrath on them--all my fierce anger. The whole world will be consumed by the fire of my jealous anger.

9. 그 때에 내가 열방의 입술을 깨끗케 하여 그들로 다 나 여호와의 이름을 부르며 일심으로 섬기게 하리니
  "Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder.

10. 내게 구하는 백성들 곧 내가 흩은 자의 딸이 구스 하수 건너편에서부터 예물을 가지고 와서 내게 드릴찌라
  From beyond the rivers of Cush my worshipers, my scattered people, will bring me offerings.

11. 그 날에 네가 내게 범죄한 모든 행위를 인하여 수치를 당하지 아니할 것은 그 때에 내가 너의 중에서 교만하여 자랑하는 자를 제하여 너로 나의 성산에서 다시는 교만하지 않게 할 것임이니라
  On that day you will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from this city those who rejoice in their pride. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill.

12. 내가 곤고하고 가난한 백성을 너의 중에 남겨 두리니 그들이 여호와의 이름을 의탁하여 보호를 받을찌라
  But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the LORD.

13. 이스라엘의 남은 자는 악을 행치 아니하며 거짓을 말하지 아니하며 입에 궤휼한 혀가 없으며 먹으며 누우나 놀라게 할 자가 없으리라
  The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid."

14. 시온의 딸아 노래할찌어다 이스라엘아 기쁘게 부를찌어다 예루살렘 딸아 전심으로 기뻐하며 즐거워할찌어다
  Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem!

15. 여호와가 너의 형벌을 제하였고 너의 원수를 쫓아내었으며 이스라엘 왕 여호와가 너의 중에 있으니 네가 다시는 화를 당할까 두려워하지 아니할 것이라
  The LORD has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.

16. 그 날에 사람이 예루살렘에게 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 시온아 네 손을 늘어뜨리지 말라
  On that day they will say to Jerusalem, "Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands hang limp.

17. 너의 하나님 여호와가 너의 가운데 계시니 그는 구원을 베푸실 전능자시라 그가 너로 인하여 기쁨을 이기지 못하여 하시며 너를 잠잠히 사랑하시며 너로 인하여 즐거이 부르며 기뻐하시리라 하리라
  The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

18. 내가 대회로 인하여 근심하는 자를 모으리니 그들은 네게 속한 자라 너의 치욕이 그들에게 무거운 짐이 되었느니라
  "The sorrows for the appointed feasts I will remove from you; they are a burden and a reproach to you.

19. 그 때에 내가 너를 괴롭게 하는 자를 다 벌하고 저는 자를 구원하며 쫓겨난 자를 모으며 온 세상에서 수욕받는 자로 칭찬과 명성을 얻게 하리라
  At that time I will deal with all who oppressed you; I will rescue the lame and gather those who have been scattered. I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame.

20. 내가 그 때에 너희를 이끌고 그 때에 너희를 모을찌라 내가 너희 목전에서 너희 사로잡힘을 돌이킬 때에 너희로 천하 만민 중에서 명성과 칭찬을 얻게 하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes," says the LORD.

요한복음 1

1. 태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라
  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2. 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고
  He was with God in the beginning.

3. 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라
  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

4. 그 안에 생명이 있었으니 이 생명은 사람들의 빛이라
  In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

5. 빛이 어두움에 비취되 어두움이 깨닫지 못하더라
  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

6. 하나님께로서 보내심을 받은 사람이 났으니 이름은 요한이라
  There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.

7. 저가 증거하러 왔으니 곧 빛에 대하여 증거하고 모든 사람으로 자기를 인하여 믿게 하려 함이라
  He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.

8. 그는 이 빛이 아니요 이 빛에 대하여 증거하러 온 자라
  He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9. 참 빛 곧 세상에 와서 각 사람에게 비취는 빛이 있었나니
  The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

10. 그가 세상에 계셨으며 세상은 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으되 세상이 그를 알지 못하였고
  He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

11. 자기 땅에 오매 자기 백성이 영접지 아니하였으나
  He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

12. 영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니
  Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--

13. 이는 혈통으로나 육정으로나 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하고 오직 하나님께로서 난 자들이니라
  children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

14. 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라
  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15. 요한이 그에 대하여 증거하여 외쳐 가로되 내가 전에 말하기를 내 뒤에 오시는 이가 나보다 앞선 것은 나보다 먼저 계심이니라 한 것이 이 사람을 가리킴이라 하니라
  John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'"

16. 우리가 다 그의 충만한 데서 받으니 은혜 위에 은혜러라
  From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

17. 율법은 모세로 말미암아 주신 것이요 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 온 것이라
  For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

18. 본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라
  No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

19. 유대인들이 예루살렘에서 제사장들과 레위인들을 요한에게 보내어 네가 누구냐 물을 때에 요한의 증거가 이러하니라
  Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.

20. 요한이 드러내어 말하고 숨기지 아니하니 드러내어 하는 말이 나는 그리스도가 아니라 한대
  He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, "I am not the Christ."

21. 또 묻되 그러면 무엇, 네가 엘리야냐 가로되 나는 아니라 또 묻되 네가 그 선지자냐 대답하되 아니라
  They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."

22. 또 말하되 누구냐 우리를 보낸 이들에게 대답하게 하라 너는 네게 대하여 무엇이라 하느냐
  Finally they said, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"

23. 가로되 나는 선지자 이사야의 말과 같이 주의 길을 곧게 하라고 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리로라 하니라
  John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.'"

24. 저희는 바리새인들에게서 보낸 자라
  Now some Pharisees who had been sent

25. 또 물어 가로되 네가 만일 그리스도도 아니요 엘리야도 아니요 그 선지자도 아닐찐대 어찌하여 세례를 주느냐
  questioned him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"

26. 요한이 대답하되 나는 물로 세례를 주거니와 너희 가운데 너희가 알지 못하는 한 사람이 섰으니
  "I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know.

27. 곧 내 뒤에 오시는 그이라 나는 그의 신들메 풀기도 감당치 못하겠노라 하더라
  He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie."

28. 이 일은 요한의 세례 주던 곳 요단 강 건너편 베다니에서 된 일이니라
  This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29. 이튿날 요한이 예수께서 자기에게 나아오심을 보고 가로되 보라 세상 죄를 지고 가는 하나님의 어린 양이로다
  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

30. 내가 전에 말하기를 내 뒤에 오는 사람이 있는데 나보다 앞선 것은 그가 나보다 먼저 계심이라 한 것이 이 사람을 가리킴이라
  This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'

31. 나도 그를 알지 못하였으나 내가 와서 물로 세례를 주는 것은 그를 이스라엘에게 나타내려 함이라 하니라
  I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel."

32. 요한이 또 증거하여 가로되 내가 보매 성령이 비둘기같이 하늘로서 내려와서 그의 위에 머물렀더라
  Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.

33. 나도 그를 알지 못하였으나 나를 보내어 물로 세례를 주라 하신 그이가 나에게 말씀하시되 성령이 내려서 누구 위에든지 머무는 것을 보거든 그가 곧 성령으로 세례를 주는 이인 줄 알라 하셨기에
  I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'

34. 내가 보고 그가 하나님의 아들이심을 증거하였노라 하니라
  I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God."

35. 또 이튿날 요한이 자기 제자 중 두 사람과 함께 섰다가
  The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.

36. 예수의 다니심을 보고 말하되 보라 하나님의 어린 양이로다
  When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

37. 두 제자가 그의 말을 듣고 예수를 좇거늘
  When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

38. 예수께서 돌이켜 그 좇는 것을 보시고 물어 가라사대 무엇을 구하느냐 가로되 랍비여 어디 계시오니이까 하니 (랍비는 번역하면 선생이라)
  Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"

39. 예수께서 가라사대 와 보라 그러므로 저희가 가서 계신 데를 보고 그 날 함께 거하니 때가 제 십 시쯤 되었더라
  "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour.

40. 요한의 말을 듣고 예수를 좇는 두 사람 중에 하나는 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레라
  Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.

41. 그가 먼저 자기의 형제 시몬을 찾아 말하되 우리가 메시야를 만났다 하고 (메시야는 번역하면 그리스도라)
  The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).

42. 데리고 예수께로 오니 예수께서 보시고 가라사대 네가 요한의 아들 시몬이니 장차 게바라 하리라 하시니라 (게바는 번역하면 베드로라)
  And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter).

43. 이튿날 예수께서 갈릴리로 나가려 하시다가 빌립을 만나 이르시되 나를 좇으라 하시니
  The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."

44. 빌립은 안드레와 베드로와 한 동네 벳새다 사람이라
  Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.

45. 빌립이 나다나엘을 찾아 이르되 모세가 율법에 기록하였고 여러 선지자가 기록한 그이를 우리가 만났으니 요셉의 아들 나사렛 예수니라
  Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

46. 나다나엘이 가로되 나사렛에서 무슨 선한 것이 날 수 있느냐 빌립이 가로되 와 보라 하니라
  "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.

47. 예수께서 나다나엘이 자기에게 오는 것을 보시고 그를 가리켜 가라사대 보라 이는 참 이스라엘 사람이라 그 속에 간사한 것이 없도다
  When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."

48. 나다나엘이 가로되 어떻게 나를 아시나이까 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 빌립이 너를 부르기 전에 네가 무화과나무 아래 있을 때에 보았노라
  "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."

49. 나다나엘이 대답하되 랍비여 당신은 하나님의 아들이시요 당신은 이스라엘의 임금이로소이다
  Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."

50. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 내가 너를 무화과나무 아래서 보았다 하므로 믿느냐 이보다 더 큰 일을 보리라
  Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that."

51. 또 가라사대 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 사자들이 인자 위에 오르락내리락하는 것을 보리라 하시니라
  He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
