역대상 13-14

1. 다윗이 천부장과 백부장 곧 모든 장수로 더불어 의논하고
  David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.

2. 이스라엘의 온 회중에게 이르되 만일 너희가 선히 여기고 또 우리의 하나님 여호와께로 말미암았으면 우리가 이스라엘 온 땅에 남아 있는 우리 형제와 또 저희와 함께 들어 있는 성읍에 거하는 제사장과 레위 사람에게 보내어 저희를 우리에게로 모이게 하고
  He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.

3. 우리가 우리 하나님의 궤를 옮겨 오자 사울 때에는 우리가 궤 앞에서 묻지 아니하였느니라 하매
  Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul."

4. 뭇 백성이 이 일을 선히 여기므로 온 회중이 그대로 행하겠다 한지라
  The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.

5. 이에 다윗이 애굽의 시홀 시내에서부터 하맛 어귀까지 온 이스라엘을 불러 모으고 기럇여아림에서부터 하나님의 궤를 메어 오고자 할쌔
  So David assembled all the Israelites, from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.

6. 다윗이 온 이스라엘을 거느리고 바알라 곧 유다에 속한 기럇여아림에 올라가서 여호와 하나님의 궤를 메어 오려 하니 이는 여호와께서 두 그룹 사이에 계시므로 그 이름으로 일컫는 궤라
  David and all the Israelites with him went to Baalah of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim--the ark that is called by the Name.

7. 하나님의 궤를 새 수레에 싣고 아비나답의 집에서 나오는데 웃사와 아히오는 수레를 몰며
  They moved the ark of God from Abinadab's house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it.

8. 다윗과 이스라엘 온 무리는 하나님 앞에서 힘을 다하여 뛰놀며 노래하며 수금과 비파와 소고와 제금과 나팔로 주악하니라
  David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.

9. 기돈의 타작 마당에 이르러서는 소들이 뛰므로 웃사가 손을 펴서 궤를 붙들었더니
  When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled.

10. 웃사가 손을 펴서 궤를 붙듦을 인하여 여호와께서 진노하사 치시매 웃사가 거기 하나님 앞에서 죽으니라
  The LORD'S anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

11. 여호와께서 웃사를 충돌하시므로 다윗이 분하여 그 곳을 베레스 웃사라 칭하니 그 이름이 오늘날까지 이르니라
  Then David was angry because the LORD'S wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.

12. 그 날에 다윗이 하나님을 두려워하여 가로되 내가 어찌 하나님의 궤를 내 곳으로 오게 하리요 하고
  David was afraid of God that day and asked, "How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?"

13. 궤를 옮겨 다윗 성 자기에게 메어 들이지 못하고 치우쳐 가드 사람 오벧에돔의 집으로 메어 가니라
  He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

14. 하나님의 궤가 오벧에돔의 집에서 그 권속과 함께 석 달을 있으니라 여호와께서 오벧에돔의 집과 그 모든 소유에 복을 내리셨더라
  The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.

1. 두로 왕 히람이 다윗에게 사자들과 백향목과 석수와 목수를 보내어 그 궁궐을 건축하게 하였더라
  Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons and carpenters to build a palace for him.

2. 다윗이 여호와께서 자기로 이스라엘 왕을 삼으신 줄을 깨달았으니 이는 그 백성 이스라엘을 위하여 나라를 진흥하게 하셨음이더라
  And David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.

3. 다윗이 예루살렘에서 또 아내들을 취하여 또 자녀를 낳았으니
  In Jerusalem David took more wives and became the father of more sons and daughters.

4. 예루살렘에서 낳은 아들들의 이름은 삼무아와 소밥과 나단과 솔로몬과
  These are the names of the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

5. 입할과 엘리수아와 엘벨렛과
  Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,

6. 노가와 네벡과 야비아와
  Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

7. 엘리사마와 브엘랴다와 엘리벨렛이었더라
  Elishama, Beeliada and Eliphelet.

8. 다윗이 기름 부음을 받아 온 이스라엘의 왕이 되었다 함을 블레셋 사람이 듣고 다윗을 찾으러 다 올라오매 다윗이 듣고 방비하러 나갔으나
  When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them.

9. 블레셋 사람이 이미 이르러 르바임 골짜기를 침범하였는지라
  Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim;

10. 다윗이 하나님께 물어 가로되 내가 블레셋 사람을 치러 올라가리이까 주께서 저희를 내 손에 붙이시겠나이까 여호와께서 이르시되 올라가라 내가 저희를 네 손에 붙이리라 하신지라
  so David inquired of God: "Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" The LORD answered him, "Go, I will hand them over to you."

11. 이에 무리가 바알부라심으로 올라갔더니 다윗이 거기서 저희를 치고 가로되 하나님이 물을 흩음같이 내 손으로 내 대적을 흩으셨다 함으로 그 곳 이름을 바알브라심이라 칭하니라
  So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, "As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand." So that place was called Baal Perazim.

12. 블레셋 사람이 그 우상을 그 곳에 버렸으므로 다윗이 명하여 불에 사르니라
  The Philistines had abandoned their gods there, and David gave orders to burn them in the fire.

13. 블레셋 사람이 다시 골짜기를 침범한지라
  Once more the Philistines raided the valley;

14. 다윗이 또 하나님께 묻자온대 하나님이 이르시되 마주 올라가지 말고 저희 뒤로 돌아 뽕나무 수풀 맞은편에서 저희를 엄습하되
  so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, "Do not go straight up, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.

15. 뽕나무 꼭대기에서 걸음 걷는 소리가 들리거든 곧 나가서 싸우라 하나님이 네 앞서 나아가서 블레셋 사람의 군대를 치리라 하신지라
  As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army."

16. 이에 다윗이 하나님의 명대로 행하여 블레셋 사람의 군대를 쳐서 기브온에서부터 게셀까지 이르렀더니
  So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

17. 다윗의 명성이 열국에 퍼졌고 여호와께서 열국으로 저를 두려워하게 하셨더라
  So David's fame spread throughout every land, and the LORD made all the nations fear him.

야고보서 1

1. 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도의 종 야고보는 흩어져 있는 열두 지파에게 문안하노라
  James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.

2. 내 형제들아 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 만나거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라
  Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

3. 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라
  because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

4. 인내를 온전히 이루라 이는 너희로 온전하고 구비하여 조금도 부족함이 없게 하려 함이라
  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

5. 너희 중에 누구든지 지혜가 부족하거든 모든 사람에게 후히 주시고 꾸짖지 아니하시는 하나님께 구하라 그리하면 주시리라
  If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

6. 오직 믿음으로 구하고 조금도 의심하지 말라 의심하는 자는 마치 바람에 밀려 요동하는 바다 물결 같으니
  But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

7. 이런 사람은 무엇이든지 주께 얻기를 생각하지 말라
  That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;

8. 두 마음을 품어 모든 일에 정함이 없는 자로다
  he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

9. 낮은 형제는 자기의 높음을 자랑하고
  The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position.

10. 부한 형제는 자기의 낮아짐을 자랑할찌니 이는 풀의 꽃과 같이 지나감이라
  But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower.

11. 해가 돋고 뜨거운 바람이 불어 풀을 말리우면 꽃이 떨어져 그 모양의 아름다움이 없어지나니 부한 자도 그 행하는 일에 이와 같이 쇠잔하리라
  For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business.

12. 시험을 참는 자는 복이 있도다 이것에 옳다 인정하심을 받은 후에 주께서 자기를 사랑하는 자들에게 약속하신 생명의 면류관을 얻을 것임이니라
  Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

13. 사람이 시험을 받을 때에 내가 하나님께 시험을 받는다 하지 말찌니 하나님은 악에게 시험을 받지도 아니하시고 친히 아무도 시험하지 아니하시느니라
  When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

14. 오직 각 사람이 시험을 받는 것은 자기 욕심에 끌려 미혹됨이니
  but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.

15. 욕심이 잉태한즉 죄를 낳고 죄가 장성한즉 사망을 낳느니라
  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

16. 내 사랑하는 형제들아 속지 말라
  Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.

17. 각양 좋은 은사와 온전한 선물이 다 위로부터 빛들의 아버지께로서 내려오나니 그는 변함도 없으시고 회전하는 그림자도 없으시니라
  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

18. 그가 그 조물 중에 우리로 한 첫 열매가 되게 하시려고 자기의 뜻을 좇아 진리의 말씀으로 우리를 낳으셨느니라
  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

19. 내 사랑하는 형제들아 너희가 알거니와 사람마다 듣기는 속히 하고 말하기는 더디 하며 성내기도 더디 하라
  My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

20. 사람의 성내는 것이 하나님의 의를 이루지 못함이니라
  for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

21. 그러므로 모든 더러운 것과 넘치는 악을 내어 버리고 능히 너희 영혼을 구원할 바 마음에 심긴 도를 온유함으로 받으라
  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22. 너희는 도를 행하는 자가 되고 듣기만 하여 자신을 속이는 자가 되지 말라
  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

23. 누구든지 도를 듣고 행하지 아니하면 그는 거울로 자기의 생긴 얼굴을 보는 사람과 같으니
  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror

24. 제 자신을 보고 가서 그 모양이 어떠한 것을 곧 잊어버리거니와
  and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

25. 자유하게 하는 온전한 율법을 들여다보고 있는 자는 듣고 잊어버리는 자가 아니요 실행하는 자니 이 사람이 그 행하는 일에 복을 받으리라
  But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.

26. 누구든지 스스로 경건하다 생각하며 자기 혀를 재갈 먹이지 아니하고 자기 마음을 속이면 이 사람의 경건은 헛것이라
  If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

27. 하나님 아버지 앞에서 정결하고 더러움이 없는 경건은 곧 고아와 과부를 그 환난 중에 돌아보고 또 자기를 지켜 세속에 물들지 아니하는 이것이니라
  Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

■ 혼자 읽기

아모스 8

1. 주 여호와께서 또 내게 여름 실과 한 광주리를 보이시며
  This is what the Sovereign LORD showed me: a basket of ripe fruit.

2. 가라사대 아모스야 네가 무엇을 보느냐 내가 가로되 여름 실과 한 광주리니이다 하매 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 내 백성 이스라엘의 끝이 이르렀은즉 내가 다시는 저를 용서치 아니하리니
  "What do you see, Amos?" he asked. "A basket of ripe fruit," I answered. Then the LORD said to me, "The time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.

3. 그 날에 궁전의 노래가 애곡으로 변할 것이며 시체가 많아서 사람이 잠잠히 처처에 내어 버리리라 이는 주 여호와의 말씀이니라
  "In that day," declares the Sovereign LORD, "the songs in the temple will turn to wailing. Many, many bodies--flung everywhere! Silence!"

4. 궁핍한 자를 삼키며 땅의 가난한 자를 망케 하려는 자들아 이 말을 들으라
  Hear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land,

5. 너희가 이르기를 월삭이 언제나 지나서 우리로 곡식을 팔게 하며 안식일이 언제나 지나서 우리로 밀을 내게 할꼬 에바를 작게 하여 세겔을 크게 하며 거짓 저울로 속이며
  saying, "When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?"--skimping the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales,

6. 은으로 가난한 자를 사며 신 한 켤레로 궁핍한 자를 사며 잿밀을 팔자 하는도다
  buying the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, selling even the sweepings with the wheat.

7. 여호와께서 야곱의 영광을 가리켜 맹세하시되 내가 저희의 모든 소위를 영영 잊지 아니하리라 하셨나니
  The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: "I will never forget anything they have done.

8. 이로 인하여 땅이 떨지 않겠으며 그 가운데 모든 거민이 애통하지 않겠느냐 온 땅이 하수의 넘침같이 솟아오르며 애굽 강같이 뛰놀다가 낮아지리라
  "Will not the land tremble for this, and all who live in it mourn? The whole land will rise like the Nile; it will be stirred up and then sink like the river of Egypt.

9. 주 여호와께서 가라사대 그 날에 내가 해로 대낮에 지게 하여 백주에 땅을 캄캄케 하며
  "In that day," declares the Sovereign LORD, "I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight.

10. 너희 절기를 애통으로, 너희 모든 노래를 애곡으로 변하며 모든 사람으로 굵은 베로 허리를 동이게 하며 모든 머리를 대머리 되게 하며 독자의 죽음을 인하여 애통하듯 하게 하며 그 결국으로 곤고한 날과 같게 하리라
  I will turn your religious feasts into mourning and all your singing into weeping. I will make all of you wear sackcloth and shave your heads. I will make that time like mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day.

11. 주 여호와께서 가라사대 보라 날이 이를찌라 내가 기근을 땅에 보내리니 양식이 없어 주림이 아니며 물이 없어 갈함이 아니요 여호와의 말씀을 듣지 못한 기갈이라
  "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land--not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.

12. 사람이 이 바다에서 저 바다까지, 북에서 동까지 비틀거리며 여호와의 말씀을 구하려고 달려 왕래하되 얻지 못하리니
  Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.

13. 그 날에 아름다운 처녀와 젊은 남자가 다 갈하여 피곤하리라
  "In that day "the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst.

14. 무릇 사마리아의 죄된 우상을 가리켜 맹세하여 이르기를 단아 네 신의 생존을 가리켜 맹세하노라 하거나 브엘세바의 위하는 것의 생존을 가리켜 맹세하노라 하는 사람은 엎드러지고 다시 일어나지 못하리라
  They who swear by the shame of Samaria, or say, 'As surely as your god lives, O Dan,' or, 'As surely as the god of Beersheba lives'--they will fall, never to rise again."

누가복음 3

1. 디베료 가이사가 위에 있은 지 열다섯 해 곧 본디오 빌라도가 유대의 총독으로, 헤롯이 갈릴리의 분봉왕으로, 그 동생 빌립이 이두래와 드라고닛 지방의 분봉왕으로, 루사니아가 아빌레네의 분봉왕으로,
  In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar--when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene--

2. 안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에 하나님의 말씀이 빈 들에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임한지라
  during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.

3. 요한이 요단 강 부근 각처에 와서 죄 사함을 얻게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니
  He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

4. 선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 광야에 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 가로되 너희는 주의 길을 예비하라 그의 첩경을 평탄케 하라
  As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.

5. 모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요
  Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.

6. 모든 육체가 하나님의 구원하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라
  And all mankind will see God's salvation.'"

7. 요한이 세례받으러 나오는 무리에게 이르되 독사의 자식들아 누가 너희를 가르쳐 장차 올 진노를 피하라 하더냐
  John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

8. 그러므로 회개에 합당한 열매를 맺고 속으로 아브라함이 우리 조상이라 말하지 말라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 하나님이 능히 이 돌들로도 아브라함의 자손이 되게 하시리라
  Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

9. 이미 도끼가 나무 뿌리에 놓였으니 좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던지우리라
  The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."

10. 무리가 물어 가로되 그러하면 우리가 무엇을 하리이까
  "What should we do then?" the crowd asked.

11. 대답하여 가로되 옷 두 벌 있는 자는 옷 없는 자에게 나눠 줄 것이요 먹을 것이 있는 자도 그렇게 할 것이니라 하고
  John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same."

12. 세리들도 세례를 받고자 하여 와서 가로되 선생이여 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매
  Tax collectors also came to be baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?"

13. 가로되 정한 세 외에는 늑징치 말라 하고
  "Don't collect any more than you are required to," he told them.

14. 군병들도 물어 가로되 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매 가로되 사람에게 강포하지 말며 무소하지 말고 받는 요를 족한 줄로 알라 하니라
  Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely--be content with your pay."

15. 백성들이 바라고 기다리므로 모든 사람들이 요한을 혹 그리스도신가 심중에 의논하니
  The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ.

16. 요한이 모든 사람에게 대답하여 가로되 나는 물로 너희에게 세례를 주거니와 나보다 능력이 많으신 이가 오시나니 나는 그 신들메를 풀기도 감당치 못하겠노라 그는 성령과 불로 너희에게 세례를 주실 것이요
  John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

17. 손에 키를 들고 자기의 타작 마당을 정하게 하사 알곡은 모아 곡간에 들이고 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우시리라
  His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

18. 또 기타 여러 가지로 권하여 백성에게 좋은 소식을 전하였으나
  And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them.

19. 분봉왕 헤롯은 그 동생의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 또 그의 행한 모든 악한 일을 인하여 요한에게 책망을 받고
  But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and all the other evil things he had done,

20. 이 위에 한 가지 악을 더하여 요한을 옥에 가두니라
  Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.

21. 백성이 다 세례를 받을쌔 예수도 세례를 받으시고 기도하실 때에 하늘이 열리며
  When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened

22. 성령이 형체로 비둘기같이 그의 위에 강림하시더니 하늘로서 소리가 나기를 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라 하시니라
  and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

23. 예수께서 가르치심을 시작할 때에 삼십 세쯤 되시니라 사람들의 아는 대로는 요셉의 아들이니 요셉의 이상은 헬리요
  Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli,

24. 그 이상은 맛닷이요 그 이상은 레위요 그 이상은 멜기요 그 이상은 얀나요 그 이상은 요셉이요
  the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melki, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
