열왕기하 16

1. 르말랴의 아들 베가 십칠 년에 유다 왕 요담의 아들 아하스가 왕이 되니
  In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

2. 아하스가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십세라 예루살렘에서 십 륙년을 치리하였으나 그 조상 다윗과 같지 아니하여 그 하나님 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행치 아니하고
  Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD his God.

3. 이스라엘 열왕의 길로 행하며 또 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 이방 사람의 가증한 일을 본받아 자기 아들을 불 가운데로 지나가게 하며
  He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his son in the fire, following the detestable ways of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

4. 또 산당과 작은 산 위와 모든 푸른 나무 아래서 제사를 드리며 분향하였더라
  He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree.

5. 이 때에 아람 왕 르신과 이스라엘 왕 르말랴의 아들 베가가 예루살렘에 올라와서 싸우려 하여 아하스를 에워쌌으나 이기지 못하니라
  Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem and besieged Ahaz, but they could not overpower him.

6. 당시에 아람 왕 르신이 엘랏을 회복하여 아람에 돌리고 유다 사람을 엘랏에서 쫓아내었고 아람 사람이 엘랏에 이르러 거하여 오늘날까지 이르렀더라
  At that time, Rezin king of Aram recovered Elath for Aram by driving out the men of Judah. Edomites then moved into Elath and have lived there to this day.

7. 아하스가 앗수르 왕 디글랏 빌레셀에게 사자를 보내어 이르되 나는 왕의 신복이요 왕의 아들이라 이제 아람 왕과 이스라엘 왕이 나를 치니 청컨대 올라와서 나를 그 손에서 구원하소서 하고
  Ahaz sent messengers to say to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, "I am your servant and vassal. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram and of the king of Israel, who are attacking me."

8. 여호와의 전과 왕궁 곳간에 있는 은금을 취하여 앗수르 왕에게 예물로 보내었더니
  And Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the temple of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace and sent it as a gift to the king of Assyria.

9. 앗수르 왕이 그 청을 듣고 곧 올라와서 다메섹을 쳐서 취하여 그 백성을 사로잡아 길로 옮기고 또 르신을 죽였더라
  The king of Assyria complied by attacking Damascus and capturing it. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.

10. 아하스 왕이 앗수르 왕 디글랏 빌레셀을 만나러 다메섹에 갔다가 거기 있는 단을 보고 드디어 그 구조와 제도의 식양을 그려 제사장 우리야에게 보내었더니
  Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.

11. 아하스 왕이 다메섹에서 돌아오기 전에 제사장 우리야가 아하스 왕이 다메섹에서 보낸 모든 것대로 단을 만든지라
  So Uriah the priest built an altar in accordance with all the plans that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus and finished it before King Ahaz returned.

12. 왕이 다메섹에서 돌아와서 단을 보고 단 앞에 나아가 그 위에 제사를 드리되
  When the king came back from Damascus and saw the altar, he approached it and presented offerings on it.

13. 자기의 번제와 소제를 불사르고 또 전제를 붓고 수은제 짐승의 피를 단에 뿌리고
  He offered up his burnt offering and grain offering, poured out his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his fellowship offerings on the altar.

14. 또 여호와의 앞 곧 전 앞에 있던 놋단을 옮기되 새 단과 여호와의 전 사이에서 옮겨다가 그 단 북편에 두니라
  The bronze altar that stood before the LORD he brought from the front of the temple--from between the new altar and the temple of the LORD--and put it on the north side of the new altar.

15. 아하스 왕이 제사장 우리야에게 명하여 가로되 아침 번제와 저녁 소제와 왕의 번제와 그 소제와 모든 국민의 번제와 그 소제와 전제를 다 이 큰 단 위에 불사르고 또 번제물의 피와 다른 제물의 피를 다 그 위에 뿌리고 오직 놋단은 나의 물을 일에 쓰게 하라 하매
  King Ahaz then gave these orders to Uriah the priest: "On the large new altar, offer the morning burnt offering and the evening grain offering, the king's burnt offering and his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offering and their drink offering. Sprinkle on the altar all the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar for seeking guidance."

16. 제사장 우리야가 아하스 왕의 모든 명대로 행하였더라
  And Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had ordered.

17. 아하스 왕이 물두멍 받침의 옆판을 떼어내고 물두멍을 그 자리에서 옮기고 또 놋바다를 놋소 위에서 내려다가 돌판 위에 두며
  King Ahaz took away the side panels and removed the basins from the movable stands. He removed the Sea from the bronze bulls that supported it and set it on a stone base.

18. 또 안식일에 쓰기 위하여 성전에 건축한 낭실과 왕이 밖에서 들어가는 낭실을 앗수르 왕을 인하여 여호와의 전에 옮겨 세웠더라
  He took away the Sabbath canopy that had been built at the temple and removed the royal entryway outside the temple of the LORD, in deference to the king of Assyria.

19. 아하스의 그 남은 사적은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  As for the other events of the reign of Ahaz, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

20. 아하스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 다윗 성에 그 열조와 함께 장사되고 그 아들 히스기야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And Hezekiah his son succeeded him as king.

디도서 2

1. 오직 너는 바른 교훈에 합한 것을 말하여
  You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.

2. 늙은 남자로는 절제하며 경건하며 근신하며 믿음과 사랑과 인내함에 온전케 하고
  Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

3. 늙은 여자로는 이와 같이 행실이 거룩하며 참소치 말며 많은 술의 종이 되지 말며 선한 것을 가르치는 자들이 되고
  Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

4. 저들로 젊은 여자들을 교훈하되 그 남편과 자녀를 사랑하며
  Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,

5. 근신하며 순전하며 집안 일을 하며 선하며 자기 남편에게 복종하게 하라 이는 하나님의 말씀이 훼방을 받지 않게 하려 함이니라
  to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

6. 너는 이와 같이 젊은 남자들을 권면하여 근신하게 하되
  Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.

7. 범사에 네 자신으로 선한 일의 본을 보여 교훈의 부패치 아니함과 경건함과
  In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness

8. 책망할 것이 없는 바른 말을 하게 하라 이는 대적하는 자로 하여금 부끄러워 우리를 악하다 할 것이 없게 하려 함이라
  and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

9. 종들로는 자기 상전들에게 범사에 순종하여 기쁘게 하고 거스려 말하지 말며
  Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,

10. 떼어 먹지 말고 오직 선한 충성을 다하게 하라 이는 범사에 우리 구주 하나님의 교훈을 빛나게 하려 함이라
  and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

11. 모든 사람에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 은혜가 나타나
  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.

12. 우리를 양육하시되 경건치 않은 것과 이 세상 정욕을 다 버리고 근신함과 의로움과 경건함으로 이 세상에 살고
  It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

13. 복스러운 소망과 우리의 크신 하나님 구주 예수 그리스도의 영광이 나타나심을 기다리게 하셨으니
  while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

14. 그가 우리를 대신하여 자신을 주심은 모든 불법에서 우리를 구속하시고 우리를 깨끗하게 하사 선한 일에 열심하는 친백성이 되게 하려 하심이니라
  who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

15. 너는 이것을 말하고 권면하며 모든 권위로 책망하여 누구에게든지 업신여김을 받지 말라
  These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

■ 혼자 읽기

호세아 9

1. 이스라엘아 너는 이방 사람처럼 기뻐 뛰놀지 말라 네가 행음하여 네 하나님을 떠나고 각 타작 마당에서 음행의 값을 좋아 하였느니라
  Do not rejoice, O Israel; do not be jubilant like the other nations. For you have been unfaithful to your God; you love the wages of a prostitute at every threshing floor.

2. 타작 마당이나 술틀이 저희를 기르지 못할 것이며 새 포도주도 떨어질 것이요
  Threshing floors and winepresses will not feed the people; the new wine will fail them.

3. 저희가 여호와의 땅에 거하지 못하며 에브라임이 애굽으로 다시 가고 앗수르에서 더러운 것을 먹을 것이니라
  They will not remain in the LORD'S land; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.

4. 저희가 여호와께 전제를 드리지 못하며 여호와의 기뻐하시는 바도 되지 못할 것이라 저희의 제물은 거상 입은 자의 식물과 같아서 무릇 그것을 먹는 자는 더러워지나니 저희의 식물은 자기 먹기에만 소용될 뿐이라 여호와의 집에 드릴 것이 아님이니라
  They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, nor will their sacrifices please him. Such sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat them will be unclean. This food will be for themselves; it will not come into the temple of the LORD.

5. 너희가 명절일과 여호와의 절일에 무엇을 하겠느냐
  What will you do on the day of your appointed feasts, on the festival days of the LORD?

6. 보라 저희가 멸망을 피하여 갈찌라도 애굽은 저희를 모으고 놉은 저희를 장사하리니 저희의 은 보물은 찔레가 덮을 것이요 저희의 장막 안에는 가시 덩굴이 퍼지리라
  Even if they escape from destruction, Egypt will gather them, and Memphis will bury them. Their treasures of silver will be taken over by briers, and thorns will overrun their tents.

7. 형벌의 날이 이르렀고 보응의 날이 임한 것을 이스라엘이 알찌라 선지자가 어리석었고 신에 감동하는 자가 미쳤나니 이는 네 죄악이 많고 네 원한이 큼이니라
  The days of punishment are coming, the days of reckoning are at hand. Let Israel know this. Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool, the inspired man a maniac.

8. 에브라임은 내 하나님의 파숫군이어늘 선지자는 그 모든 행위에 새 잡는 자의 그물 같고 또 그 하나님의 전에서 원한을 품었도다
  The prophet, along with my God, is the watchman over Ephraim, yet snares await him on all his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.

9. 저희는 기브아의 시대와 같이 심히 패괴한지라 여호와께서 그 악을 기억하시고 그 죄를 벌하시리라
  They have sunk deep into corruption, as in the days of Gibeah. God will remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.

10. 옛적에 내가 이스라엘 만나기를 광야에서 포도를 만남같이 하였으며 너희 열조 보기를 무화과나무에서 처음 맺힌 첫 열매를 봄같이 하였거늘 저희가 바알브올에 가서 부끄러운 우상에게 몸을 드림으로 저희의 사랑하는 우상같이 가증하여졌도다
  "When I found Israel, it was like finding grapes in the desert; when I saw your fathers, it was like seeing the early fruit on the fig tree. But when they came to Baal Peor, they consecrated themselves to that shameful idol and became as vile as the thing they loved.

11. 에브라임의 영광이 새같이 날아가리니 해산함이나 아이 뱀이나 잉태함이 없으리라
  Ephraim's glory will fly away like a bird--no birth, no pregnancy, no conception.

12. 혹 저희가 자식을 기를찌라도 내가 그 자식을 없이하여 한 사람도 남기지 아니할 것이라 내가 저희를 떠나는 때에는 저희에게 화가 미치리로다
  Even if they rear children, I will bereave them of every one. Woe to them when I turn away from them!

13. 내가 보건대 에브라임은 아름다운 곳에 심긴 두로와 같으나 그 자식들을 살인하는 자에게로 끌어내리로다
  I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place. But Ephraim will bring out their children to the slayer."

14. 여호와여 저희에게 주소서 무엇을 주시려나이까 청컨대 배지 못하는 태와 젖 없는 유방을 주시옵소서
  Give them, O LORD--what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry.

15. 저희의 모든 악이 길갈에 있으므로 내가 거기서 저희를 미워하였노라 그 행위가 악하므로 내 집에서 쫓아내고 다시는 사랑하지 아니하리라 그 방백들은 다 패역한 자니라
  "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious.

16. 에브라임이 침을 입고 그 뿌리가 말라 과실을 맺지 못하나니 비록 아이를 낳을지라도 내가 그 사랑하는 태의 열매를 죽이리라
  Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. Even if they bear children, I will slay their cherished offspring."

17. 저희가 듣지 아니하므로 내 하나님이 저희를 버리시리니 저희가 열국 가운데 유리하는 자가 되리라
  My God will reject them because they have not obeyed him; they will be wanderers among the nations.

시편 126-128

1. 여호와께서 시온의 포로를 돌리실 때에 우리가 꿈꾸는 것 같았도다
  A song of ascents. When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed.

2. 그 때에 우리 입에는 웃음이 가득하고 우리 혀에는 찬양이 찼었도다 열방 중에서 말하기를 여호와께서 저희를 위하여 대사를 행하셨다 하였도다
  Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

3. 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 대사를 행하셨으니 우리는 기쁘도다
  The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

4. 여호와여 우리의 포로를 남방 시내들같이 돌리소서
  Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.

5. 눈물을 흘리며 씨를 뿌리는 자는 기쁨으로 거두리로다
  Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.

6. 울며 씨를 뿌리러 나가는 자는 정녕 기쁨으로 그 단을 가지고 돌아오리로다
  He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

1. 여호와께서 집을 세우지 아니하시면 세우는 자의 수고가 헛되며 여호와께서 성을 지키지 아니하시면 파숫군의 경성함이 허사로다
  A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

2. 너희가 일찌기 일어나고 늦게 누우며 수고의 떡을 먹음이 헛되도다 그러므로 여호와께서 그 사랑하시는 자에게는 잠을 주시는도다
  In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat--for he grants sleep to those he loves.

3. 자식은 여호와의 주신 기업이요 태의 열매는 그의 상급이로다
  Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.

4. 젊은 자의 자식은 장사의 수중의 화살 같으니
  Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.

5. 이것이 그 전통에 가득한 자는 복되도다 저희가 성문에서 그 원수와 말할 때에 수치를 당치 아니하리로다
  Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

1. 여호와를 경외하며 그 도에 행하는 자마다 복이 있도다
  A song of ascents. Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways.

2. 네가 네 손이 수고한 대로 먹을 것이라 네가 복되고 형통하리로다
  You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.

3. 네 집 내실에 있는 네 아내는 결실한 포도나무 같으며 네 상에 둘린 자식은 어린 감람나무 같으리로다
  Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.

4. 여호와를 경외하는 자는 이같이 복을 얻으리로다
  Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.

5. 여호와께서 시온에서 네게 복을 주실찌어다 너는 평생에 예루살렘의 복을 보며
  May the LORD bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,

6. 네 자식의 자식을 볼찌어다 이스라엘에게 평강이 있을찌로다
  and may you live to see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel.
