사사기 11:12-40

12. 입다가 암몬 자손의 왕에게 사자를 보내어 이르되 네가 나와 무슨 상관이 있기에 내 땅을 치러 내게 왔느냐
  Then Jephthah sent messengers to the Ammonite king with the question: "What do you have against us that you have attacked our country?"

13. 암몬 자손의 왕이 입다의 사자에게 대답하되 이스라엘이 애굽에서 올라올 때에 아르논에서부터 얍복과 요단까지 내 땅을 취한 연고니 이제 그것을 화평히 다시 돌리라
  The king of the Ammonites answered Jephthah's messengers, "When Israel came up out of Egypt, they took away my land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, all the way to the Jordan. Now give it back peaceably."

14. 입다가 암몬 자손의 왕에게 다시 사자를 보내어
  Jephthah sent back messengers to the Ammonite king,

15. 그에게 이르되 입다가 말하노라 이스라엘이 모압 땅과 암몬 자손의 땅을 취하지 아니하였느니라
  saying: "This is what Jephthah says: Israel did not take the land of Moab or the land of the Ammonites.

16. 이스라엘이 애굽에서 올라올 때에 광야로 행하여 홍해에 이르고 가데스에 이르러서는
  But when they came up out of Egypt, Israel went through the desert to the Red Sea and on to Kadesh.

17. 이스라엘이 사자를 에돔 왕에게 보내어 이르기를 청컨대 나를 용납하여 네 땅 가운데로 지나게 하라 하였으나 에돔 왕이 이를 듣지 아니하였고 또 그같이 사람을 모압 왕에게 보내었으나 그도 허락지 아니하므로 이스라엘이 가데스에 유하였더니
  Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, 'Give us permission to go through your country,' but the king of Edom would not listen. They sent also to the king of Moab, and he refused. So Israel stayed at Kadesh.

18. 그 후에 광야를 지나 에돔 땅과 모압 땅을 둘러 행하여 모압 땅 동편에서부터 와서 아르논 저편에 진 쳤고 아르논은 모압 경계이므로 그 경내에는 들어가지 아니하였으며
  "Next they traveled through the desert, skirted the lands of Edom and Moab, passed along the eastern side of the country of Moab, and camped on the other side of the Arnon. They did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was its border.

19. 이스라엘이 헤스본 왕 곧 아모리 왕 시혼에게 사자를 보내어 그에게 이르되 청컨대 우리를 용납하여 당신의 땅으로 지나 우리 곳에 이르게 하라 하였으나
  "Then Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, and said to him, 'Let us pass through your country to our own place.'

20. 시혼이 이스라엘을 믿지 아니하여 그 지경으로 지나지 못하게 할 뿐 아니라 그 모든 백성을 모아 야하스에 진치고 이스라엘을 치므로
  Sihon, however, did not trust Israel to pass through his territory. He mustered all his men and encamped at Jahaz and fought with Israel.

21. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 시혼과 그 모든 백성을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이시매 이스라엘이 쳐서 그 땅 거민 아모리 사람의 온 땅을 취하되
  "Then the LORD, the God of Israel, gave Sihon and all his men into Israel's hands, and they defeated them. Israel took over all the land of the Amorites who lived in that country,

22. 아르논에서부터 얍복까지와 광야에서부터 요단까지 아모리 사람의 온 지경을 취하였었느니라
  capturing all of it from the Arnon to the Jabbok and from the desert to the Jordan.

23. 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 이같이 아모리 사람을 자기 백성 이스라엘 앞에서 쫓아내셨거늘 네가 그 땅을 얻고자 하는 것이 가하냐
  "Now since the LORD, the God of Israel, has driven the Amorites out before his people Israel, what right have you to take it over?

24. 네 신 그모스가 네게 주어 얻게 한 땅을 네가 얻지 않겠느냐 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리 앞에서 어떤 사람이든지 쫓아내시면 그 땅을 우리가 얻으리라
  Will you not take what your god Chemosh gives you? Likewise, whatever the LORD our God has given us, we will possess.

25. 이제 네가 모압 왕 십볼의 아들 발락보다 나은 것이 있느냐 그가 이스라엘로 더불어 다툰 일이 있었느냐 싸운 일이 있었느냐
  Are you better than Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever quarrel with Israel or fight with them?

26. 이스라엘이 헤스본과 그 향촌들과 아로엘과 그 향촌들과 아르논 연안에 있는 모든 성읍에 거한 지 삼백 년이어늘 그 동안에 너희가 어찌하여 도로 찾지 아니하였느냐
  For three hundred years Israel occupied Heshbon, Aroer, the surrounding settlements and all the towns along the Arnon. Why didn't you retake them during that time?

27. 내가 네게 죄를 짓지 아니하였거늘 네가 나를 쳐서 내게 악을 행하고자 하는도다 원컨대 심판하시는 여호와는 오늘날 이스라엘 자손과 암몬 자손의 사이에 판결하시옵소서 하나
  I have not wronged you, but you are doing me wrong by waging war against me. Let the LORD, the Judge, decide the dispute this day between the Israelites and the Ammonites."

28. 암몬 자손의 왕이 입다의 보내어 말한 것을 듣지 아니하였더라
  The king of Ammon, however, paid no attention to the message Jephthah sent him.

29. 이에 여호와의 신이 입다에게 임하시니 입다가 길르앗과 므낫세를 지나서 길르앗 미스베에 이르고 길르앗 미스베에서부터 암몬 자손에게로 나아갈 때에
  Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah. He crossed Gilead and Manasseh, passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from there he advanced against the Ammonites.

30. 그가 여호와께 서원하여 가로되 주께서 과연 암몬 자손을 내 손에 붙이시면
  And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: "If you give the Ammonites into my hands,

31. 내가 암몬 자손에게서 평안히 돌아올 때에 누구든지 내 집 문에서 나와서 나를 영접하는 그는 여호와께 돌릴 것이니 내가 그를 번제로 드리겠나이다 하니라
  whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD'S, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering."

32. 이에 입다가 암몬 자손에게 이르러 그들과 싸우더니 여호와께서 그들을 그 손에 붙이시매
  Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands.

33. 아로엘에서부터 민닛에 이르기까지 이십 성읍을 치고 또 아벨 그라밈까지 크게 도륙하니 이에 암몬 자손이 이스라엘 자손 앞에 항복하였더라
  He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon.

34. 입다가 미스바에 돌아와 자기 집에 이를 때에 그 딸이 소고를 잡고 춤추며 나와서 영접하니 이는 그의 무남독녀라
  When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his daughter, dancing to the sound of tambourines! She was an only child. Except for her he had neither son nor daughter.

35. 입다가 이를 보고 자기옷을 찢으며 가로되 슬프다 내 딸이여 너는 나로 참담케 하는 자요 너는 나를 괴롭게 하는 자 중의 하나이로다 내가 여호와를 향하여 입을 열었으니 능히 돌이키지 못하리로다
  When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, "Oh! My daughter! You have made me miserable and wretched, because I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break."

36. 딸이 그에게 이르되 나의 아버지여 아버지께서 여호와를 향하여 입을 여셨으니 아버지 입에서 낸 말씀대로 내게 행하소서 이는 여호와께서 아버지를 위하여 아버지의 대적 암몬 자손에게 원수를 갚으셨음이니이다
  "My father," she replied, "you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me just as you promised, now that the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites.

37. 아비에게 또 이르되 이 일만 내게 허락하사 나를 두 달만 용납하소서 내가 나의 동무들과 함께 산에 올라가서 나의 처녀로 죽음을 인하여 애곡하겠나이다
  But grant me this one request," she said. "Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry."

38. 이르되 가라하고 두달 위한하고 보내니 그가 그 동무들과 함께 가서 산 위에서 처녀로 죽음을 인하여 애곡하고
  "You may go," he said. And he let her go for two months. She and the girls went into the hills and wept because she would never marry.

39. 두 달 만에 그 아비에게로 돌아온지라 아비가 그 서원한 대로 딸에게 행하니 딸이 남자를 알지 못하고 죽으니라 이로부터 이스라엘 가운데 규례가 되어
  After the two months, she returned to her father and he did to her as he had vowed. And she was a virgin. From this comes the Israelite custom

40. 이스라엘 여자들이 해마다 가서 길르앗 사람 입다의 딸을 위하여 나흘씩 애곡하더라
  that each year the young women of Israel go out for four days to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite.

사도행전 15

1. 어떤 사람들이 유대로부터 내려와서 형제들을 가르치되 너희가 모세의 법대로 할례를 받지 아니하면 능히 구원을 얻지 못하리라 하니
  Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved."

2. 바울과 바나바와 저희 사이에 적지 아니한 다툼과 변론이 일어난지라 형제들이 이 문제에 대하여 바울과 바나바와 및 그 중에 몇 사람을 예루살렘에 있는 사도와 장로들에게 보내기로 작정하니라
  This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

3. 저희가 교회의 전송을 받고 베니게와 사마리아로 다녀가며 이방인들의 주께 돌아온 일을 말하여 형제들을 다 크게 기쁘게 하더라
  The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the brothers very glad.

4. 예루살렘에 이르러 교회와 사도와 장로들에게 영접을 받고 하나님이 자기들과 함께 계셔 행하신 모든 일을 말하매
  When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

5. 바리새파 중에 믿는 어떤 사람들이 일어나 말하되 이방인에게 할례 주고 모세의 율법을 지키라 명하는 것이 마땅하다 하니라
  Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses."

6. 사도와 장로들이 이 일을 의논하러 모여
  The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

7. 많은 변론이 있은 후에 베드로가 일어나 말하되 형제들아 너희도 알거니와 하나님이 이방인들로 내 입에서 복음의 말씀을 들어 믿게 하시려고 오래 전부터 너희 가운데서 나를 택하시고
  After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: "Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

8. 또 마음을 아시는 하나님이 우리에게와 같이 저희에게도 성령을 주어 증거하시고
  God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

9. 믿음으로 저희 마음을 깨끗이 하사 저희나 우리나 분간치 아니하셨느니라
  He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

10. 그런데 지금 너희가 어찌하여 하나님을 시험하여 우리 조상과 우리도 능히 메지 못하던 멍에를 제자들의 목에 두려느냐
  Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?

11. 우리가 저희와 동일하게 주 예수의 은혜로 구원받는 줄을 믿노라 하니라
  No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."

12. 온 무리가 가만히 있어 바나바와 바울이 하나님이 자기들로 말미암아 이방인 중에서 행하신 표적과 기사 고하는 것을 듣더니
  The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

13. 말을 마치매 야고보가 대답하여 가로되 형제들아 내 말을 들으라
  When they finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen to me.

14. 하나님이 처음으로 이방인 중에서 자기 이름을 위할 백성을 취하시려고 저희를 권고하신 것을 시므온이 고하였으니
  Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself.

15. 선지자들의 말씀이 이와 합하도다 기록된 바
  The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:

16. 이 후에 내가 돌아와서 다윗의 무너진 장막을 다시 지으며 또 그 퇴락한 것을 다시 지어 일으키리니
  "'After this I will return and rebuild David's fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,

17. 이는 그 남은 사람들과 내 이름으로 일컬음을 받는 모든 이방인들로 주를 찾게 하려 함이라 하셨으니
  that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things'

18. 즉 예로부터 이것을 알게 하시는 주의 말씀이라 함과 같으니라
  that have been known for ages.

19. 그러므로 내 의견에는 이방인 중에서 하나님께로 돌아오는 자들을 괴롭게 말고
  "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

20. 다만 우상의 더러운 것과 음행과 목매어 죽인 것과 피를 멀리 하라고 편지하는 것이 가하니
  Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

21. 이는 예로부터 각 성에서 모세를 전하는 자가 있어 안식일마다 회당에서 그 글을 읽음이니라 하더라
  For Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath."

22. 이에 사도와 장로와 온 교회가 그 중에서 사람을 택하여 바울과 바나바와 함께 안디옥으로 보내기를 가결하니 곧 형제 중에 인도자인 바사바라 하는 유다와 실라더라
  Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers.

23. 그 편에 편지를 부쳐 이르되 사도와 장로된 형제들은 안디옥과 수리아와 길리기아에 있는 이방인 형제들에게 문안하노라
  With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.

24. 들은즉 우리 가운데서 어떤 사람들이 우리의 시킨 것도 없이 나가서 말로 너희를 괴롭게 하고 마음을 혹하게 한다 하기로
  We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.

25. 사람을 택하여 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름을 위하여 생명을 아끼지 아니하는 자인 우리의 사랑하는 바나바와 바울과 함께 너희에게 보내기를 일치 가결하였노라
  So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul--

26. 25절과 같음
  men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27. 그리하여 유다와 실라를 보내니 저희도 이 일을 말로 전하리라
  Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.

28. 성령과 우리는 이 요긴한 것들 외에 아무 짐도 너희에게 지우지 아니하는 것이 가한 줄 알았노니
  It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:

29. 우상의 제물과 피와 목매어 죽인 것과 음행을 멀리 할찌니라 이에 스스로 삼가면 잘 되리라 평안함을 원하노라 하였더라
  You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

30. 저희가 작별하고 안디옥에 내려가 무리를 모은 후에 편지를 전하니
  The men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter.

31. 읽고 그 위로한 말을 기뻐하더라
  The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message.

32. 유다와 실라도 선지자라 여러 말로 형제를 권면하여 굳게 하고
  Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.

33. 얼마 있다가 평안히 가라는 전송을 형제들에게 받고 자기를 보내던 사람들에게로 돌아가되
  After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them.

35. 바울과 바나바는 안디옥에서 유하며 다수한 다른 사람들과 함께 주의 말씀을 가르치며 전파하니라
  But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.

36. 수일 후에 바울이 바나바더러 말하되 우리가 주의 말씀을 전한 각 성으로 다시 가서 형제들이 어떠한가 방문하자 하니
  Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."

37. 바나바는 마가라 하는 요한도 데리고 가고자 하나
  Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them,

38. 바울은 밤빌리아에서 자기들을 떠나 한가지로 일하러 가지 아니한 자를 데리고 가는 것이 옳지 않다 하여
  but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work.

39. 서로 심히 다투어 피차 갈라 서니 바나바는 마가를 데리고 배 타고 구브로로 가고
  They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus,

40. 바울은 실라를 택한 후에 형제들에게 주의 은혜에 부탁함을 받고 떠나
  but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.

41. 수리아와 길리기아로 다녀가며 교회들을 굳게 하니라
  He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

예레미야 24

1. 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 여고냐와 유다 방백들과 목공들과 철공들을 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 옮긴 후에 여호와께서 여호와의 전 앞에 놓인 무화과 두 광주리로 내게 보이셨는데
  After Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the officials, the craftsmen and the artisans of Judah were carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the LORD.

2. 한 광주리에는 처음 익은 듯한 극히 좋은 무화과가 있고 한 광주리에는 악하여 먹을 수 없는 극히 악한 무화과가 있더라
  One basket had very good figs, like those that ripen early; the other basket had very poor figs, so bad they could not be eaten.

3. 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 예레미야야 네가 무엇을 보느냐 내가 대답하되 무화과이온데 그 좋은 무화과는 극히 좋고 그 악한 것은 극히 악하여 먹을 수 없게 악하니이다
  Then the LORD asked me, "What do you see, Jeremiah?" "Figs," I answered. "The good ones are very good, but the poor ones are so bad they cannot be eaten."

4. 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하니라 가라사대
  Then the word of the LORD came to me:

5. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 내가 이 곳에서 옮겨 갈대아인의 땅에 이르게 한 유다 포로를 이 좋은 무화과같이 보아 좋게 할 것이라
  "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.

6. 내가 그들을 돌아보아 좋게 하여 다시 이 땅으로 인도하고 세우고 헐지 아니하며 심고 뽑지 아니하겠고
  My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them.

7. 내가 여호와인 줄 아는 마음을 그들에게 주어서 그들로 전심으로 내게 돌아오게 하리니 그들은 내 백성이 되겠고 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라
  I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

8. 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 내가 유다 왕 시드기야와 그 방백들과 예루살렘의 남은 자로서 이 땅에 남아 있는 자와 애굽 땅에 거하는 자들을 이 악하여 먹을 수 없는 악한 무화과같이 버리되
  "'But like the poor figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,' says the LORD, 'so will I deal with Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt.

9. 세상 모든 나라 중에 흩어서 그들로 환난을 당하게 할 것이며 또 그들로 내가 쫓아보낼 모든 곳에서 치욕을 당하게 하며 말거리가 되게 하며 조롱과 저주를 받게 할 것이며
  I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, an object of ridicule and cursing, wherever I banish them.

10. 내가 칼과 기근과 염병을 그들 중에 보내어 그들로 내가 그들과 그 열조에게 준 땅에서 멸절하기까지 이르게 하리라 하시니라
  I will send the sword, famine and plague against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their fathers.'"

마가복음 10

1. 예수께서 거기서 떠나 유대 지경과 요단 강 건너편으로 가시니 무리가 다시 모여 들거늘 예수께서 다시 전례대로 가르치시더니
  Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.

2. 바리새인들이 예수께 나아와 그를 시험하여 묻되 사람이 아내를 내어 버리는 것이 옳으니이까
  Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

3. 대답하여 가라사대 모세가 어떻게 너희에게 명하였느냐
  "What did Moses command you?" he replied.

4. 가로되 모세는 이혼 증서를 써주어 내어 버리기를 허락하였나이다
  They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."

5. 예수께서 저희에게 이르시되 너희 마음의 완악함을 인하여 이 명령을 기록하였거니와
  "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.

6. 창조시로부터 저희를 남자와 여자로 만드셨으니
  "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.'

7. 이러므로 사람이 그 부모를 떠나서
  'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,

8. 그 둘이 한 몸이 될찌니라 이러한즉 이제 둘이 아니요 한 몸이니
  and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one.

9. 그러므로 하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할찌니라 하시더라
  Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

10. 집에서 제자들이 다시 이 일을 묻자온대
  When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.

11. 이르시되 누구든지 그 아내를 내어 버리고 다른 데 장가드는 자는 본처에게 간음을 행함이요
  He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.

12. 또 아내가 남편을 버리고 다른 데로 시집가면 간음을 행함이니라
  And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

13. 사람들이 예수의 만져 주심을 바라고 어린아이들을 데리고 오매 제자들이 꾸짖거늘
  People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.

14. 예수께서 보시고 분히 여겨 이르시되 어린아이들의 내게 오는 것을 용납하고 금하지 말라 하나님의 나라가 이런 자의 것이니라
  When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

15. 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 하나님의 나라를 어린아이와 같이 받들지 않는 자는 결단코 들어가지 못하리라 하시고
  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

16. 그 어린아이들을 안고 저희 위에 안수하시고 축복하시니라
  And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

17. 예수께서 길에 나가실쌔 한 사람이 달려와서 꿇어 앉아 묻자오되 선한 선생님이여 내가 무엇을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까
  As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

18. 예수께서 이르시되 네가 어찌하여 나를 선하다 일컫느냐 하나님 한 분 외에는 선한 이가 없느니라
  "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.

19. 네가 계명을 아나니 살인하지 말라, 간음하지 말라, 도적질하지 말라, 거짓 증거하지 말라, 속여 취하지 말라, 네 부모를 공경하라 하였느니라
  You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'"

20. 여짜오되 선생님이여 이것은 내가 어려서부터 다 지키었나이다
  "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy."

21. 예수께서 그를 보시고 사랑하사 가라사대 네게 오히려 한 가지 부족한 것이 있으니 가서 네 있는 것을 다 팔아 가난한 자들을 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 좇으라 하시니
  Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22. 그 사람은 재물이 많은 고로 이 말씀을 인하여 슬픈 기색을 띠고 근심하며 가니라
  At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23. 예수께서 둘러보시고 제자들에게 이르시되 재물이 있는 자는 하나님의 나라에 들어가기가 심히 어렵도다 하시니
  Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"

24. 제자들이 그 말씀에 놀라는지라 예수께서 다시 대답하여 가라사대 얘들아 하나님의 나라에 들어가기가 어떻게 어려운지
  The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

25. 약대가 바늘귀로 나가는 것이 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 쉬우니라 하신대
  It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

26. 제자들이 심히 놀라 서로 말하되 그런즉 누가 구원을 얻을 수 있는가 하니
  The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"

27. 예수께서 저희를 보시며 가라사대 사람으로는 할 수 없으되 하나님으로는 그렇지 아니하니 하나님으로서는 다 하실 수 있느니라
  Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

28. 베드로가 여짜와 가로되 보소서 우리가 모든 것을 버리고 주를 좇았나이다
  Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!"

29. 예수께서 가라사대 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 나와 및 복음을 위하여 집이나 형제나 자매나 어미나 아비나 자식이나 전토를 버린 자는
  "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel

30. 금세에 있어 집과 형제와 자매와 모친과 자식과 전토를 백 배나 받되 핍박을 겸하여 받고 내세에 영생을 받지 못할 자가 없느니라
  will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.

31. 그러나 먼저 된 자로서 나중 되고 나중 된 자로서 먼저 될 자가 많으니라
  But many who are first will be last, and the last first."

32. 예루살렘으로 올라가는 길에 예수께서 제자들 앞에 서서 가시는데 저희가 놀라고 좇는 자들은 두려워하더라 이에 다시 열두 제자를 데리시고 자기의 당할 일을 일러 가라사대
  They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him.

33. 보라 우리가 예루살렘에 올라가노니 인자가 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 넘기우매 저희가 죽이기로 결안하고 이방인들에게 넘겨 주겠고
  "We are going up to Jerusalem," he said, "and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles,

34. 그들은 능욕하며 침 뱉으며 채찍질하고 죽일 것이니 저는 삼 일 만에 살아나리라 하시니라
  who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise."

35. 세베대의 아들 야고보와 요한이 주께 나아와 여짜오되 선생님이여 무엇이든지 우리의 구하는 바를 우리에게 하여 주시기를 원하옵나이다
  Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. "Teacher," they said, "we want you to do for us whatever we ask."

36. 이르시되 너희에게 무엇을 하여 주기를 원하느냐
  "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked.

37. 여짜오되 주의 영광 중에서 우리를 하나는 주의 우편에, 하나는 좌편에 앉게 하여 주옵소서
  They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory."

38. 예수께서 가라사대 너희 구하는 것을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 너희가 나의 마시는 잔을 마시며 나의 받는 세례를 받을 수 있느냐
  "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?"

39. 저희가 말하되 할 수 있나이다 예수께서 이르시되 너희가 나의 마시는 잔을 마시며 나의 받는 세례를 받으려니와
  "We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,

40. 내 좌우편에 앉는 것은 나의 줄 것이 아니라 누구를 위하여 예비되었든지 그들이 얻을 것이니라
  but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared."

41. 열 제자가 듣고 야고보와 요한에 대하여 분히 여기거늘
  When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.

42. 예수께서 불러다가 이르시되 이방인의 소위 집권자들이 저희를 임의로 주관하고 그 대인들이 저희에게 권세를 부리는 줄을 너희가 알거니와
  Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.

43. 너희 중에는 그렇지 아니하니 너희 중에 누구든지 크고자 하는 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 되고
  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

44. 너희 중에 누구든지 으뜸이 되고자 하는 자는 모든 사람의 종이 되어야 하리라
  and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

45. 인자의 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라
  For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

46. 저희가 여리고에 이르렀더니 예수께서 제자들과 허다한 무리와 함께 여리고에서 나가실 때에 디매오의 아들인 소경 거지 바디매오가 길가에 앉았다가
  Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging.

47. 나사렛 예수시란 말을 듣고 소리질러 가로되 다윗의 자손 예수여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하거늘
  When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

48. 많은 사람이 꾸짖어 잠잠하라 하되 그가 더욱 심히 소리질러 가로되 다윗의 자손이여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하는지라
  Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

49. 예수께서 머물러 서서 저를 부르라 하시니 저희가 그 소경을 부르며 이르되 안심하고 일어나라 너를 부르신다 하매
  Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you."

50. 소경이 겉옷을 내어 버리고 뛰어 일어나 예수께 나아오거늘
  Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51. 예수께서 일러 가라사대 네게 무엇을 하여 주기를 원하느냐 소경이 가로되 선생님이여 보기를 원하나이다
  "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."

52. 예수께서 이르시되 가라 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라 하시니 저가 곧 보게 되어 예수를 길에서 좇으니라
  "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
