사사기 9

1. 여룹바알의 아들 아비멜렉이 세겜에 가서 그 어미의 형제에게 이르러 그들과 외조부의 온 가족에게 말하여 가로되
  Abimelech son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother's brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother's clan,

2. 청하노니 너희는 세겜 사람들의 귀에 말하라 여룹바알의 아들 칠십 인이 다 너희를 다스림과 한 사람이 너희를 다스림이 어느 것이 너희에게 나으냐 또 나는 너희의 골육지친임을 생각하라
  "Ask all the citizens of Shechem, 'Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal's sons rule over you, or just one man?' Remember, I am your flesh and blood."

3. 그 어미의 형제들이 그를 위하여 이 모든 말을 온 세겜 사람들의 귀에 고하매 그들의 마음이 아비멜렉에게로 기울어서 말하기를 그는 우리 형제라 하고
  When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, "He is our brother."

4. 바알브릿 묘에서 은 칠십 개를 내어 그에게 주매 아비멜렉이 그것으로 방탕하고 경박한 유를 사서 자기를 좇게 하고
  They gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech used it to hire reckless adventurers, who became his followers.

5. 오브라에 있는 그 아비의 집으로 가서 여룹바알의 아들 곧 자기 형제 칠십 인을 한 반석 위에서 죽였으되 오직 여룹바알의 말째 아들 요담은 스스로 숨었으므로 남으니라
  He went to his father's home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.

6. 세겜 모든 사람과 밀로 모든 족속이 모여 가서 세겜에 있는 기둥 상수리나무 아래서 아비멜렉으로 왕을 삼으니라
  Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelech king.

7. 혹이 요담에게 그 일을 고하매 요담이 그리심 산 꼭대기로 가서 서서 소리를 높이 외쳐 그들에게 이르되 세겜 사람들아 나를 들으라 그리하여야 하나님이 너희를 들으시리라
  When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, "Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.

8. 하루는 나무들이 나가서 기름을 부어 왕을 삼으려 하여 감람나무에게 이르되 너는 우리 왕이 되라 하매
  One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, 'Be our king.'

9. 감람나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 기름은 하나님과 사람을 영화롭게 하나니 내가 어찌 그것을 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 요동하리요 한지라
  "But the olive tree answered, 'Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?'

10. 나무들이 또 무화과나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 왕이 되라 하매
  "Next, the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come and be our king.'

11. 무화과나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 단 것, 나의 아름다운 실과를 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 요동하리요 한지라
  "But the fig tree replied, 'Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?'

12. 나무들이 또 포도나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 왕이 되라 하매
  "Then the trees said to the vine, 'Come and be our king.'

13. 포도나무가 그들에게 이르되 하나님과 사람을 기쁘게 하는 나의 새 술을 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 요동하리요 한지라
  "But the vine answered, 'Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?'

14. 이에 모든 나무가 가시나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 왕이 되라 하매
  "Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, 'Come and be our king.'

15. 가시나무가 나무들에게 이르되 너희가 참으로 내게 기름을 부어 너희 왕을 삼겠거든 와서 내 그늘에 피하라 그리하지 아니하면 불이 가시나무에서 나와서 레바논의 백향목을 사를 것이니라 하였느니라
  "The thornbush said to the trees, 'If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!'

16. 이제 너희가 아비멜렉을 세워 왕을 삼았으니 너희 행한 것이 과연 진실하고 의로우냐 이것이 여룹바알과 그 집을 선대함이냐 이것이 그 행한 대로 그에게 보답함이냐
  "Now if you have acted honorably and in good faith when you made Abimelech king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves--

17. 우리 아버지가 전에 죽음을 무릅쓰고 너희를 위하여 싸워 미디안의 손에서 너희를 건져내었거늘
  and to think that my father fought for you, risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian

18. 너희가 오늘날 일어나서 우리 아버지의 집을 쳐서 그 아들 칠십 인을 한 반석 위에서 죽이고 그 여종의 아들 아비멜렉이 너희 형제가 된다고 그를 세워 세겜 사람의 왕을 삼았도다
  (but today you have revolted against my father's family, murdered his seventy sons on a single stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his slave girl, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is your brother)--

19. 만일 너희가 오늘날 여룹바알과 그 집을 대접한 것이 진실과 의로움이면 너희가 아비멜렉을 인하여 즐길 것이요 아비멜렉도 너희를 인하여 즐기려니와
  if then you have acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today, may Abimelech be your joy, and may you be his, too!

20. 그렇지 아니하면 아비멜렉에게서 불이 나와서 세겜 사람들과 밀로 족속을 사를 것이요 세겜 사람들과 밀로 족속에게서도 불이 나와서 아비멜렉을 사를 것이니라 하고
  But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelech and consume you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelech!"

21. 요담이 그 형제 아비멜렉을 두려워하여 달려 도망하여 브엘로 가서 거기 거하니라
  Then Jotham fled, escaping to Beer, and he lived there because he was afraid of his brother Abimelech.

22. 아비멜렉이 이스라엘을 다스린지 삼 년에
  After Abimelech had governed Israel three years,

23. 하나님이 아비멜렉과 세겜 사람들 사이에 악한 신을 보내시매 세겜 사람들이 아비멜렉을 배반하였으니
  God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem, who acted treacherously against Abimelech.

24. 이는 여룹바알의 아들 칠십 인에게 행한 포학한 일을 갚되 그 형제를 죽여 피 흘린 죄를 아비멜렉과 아비멜렉의 손을 도와서 그 형제를 죽이게 한 세겜 사람에게로 돌아가게 하심이라
  God did this in order that the crime against Jerub-Baal's seventy sons, the shedding of their blood, might be avenged on their brother Abimelech and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.

25. 세겜 사람들이 산들 꼭대기에 사람을 매복하여 아비멜렉을 엿보게 하고 무릇 그 길로 지나는 자를 다 겁탈하게 하니 혹이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 고하니라
  In opposition to him these citizens of Shechem set men on the hilltops to ambush and rob everyone who passed by, and this was reported to Abimelech.

26. 에벳의 아들 가알이 그 형제로 더불어 세겜에 이르니 세겜 사람들이 그를 의뢰하니라
  Now Gaal son of Ebed moved with his brothers into Shechem, and its citizens put their confidence in him.

27. 그들이 밭에 가서 포도를 거두어다가 밟아 짜서 연회를 배설하고 그 신당에 들어가서 먹고 마시며 아비멜렉을 저주하니
  After they had gone out into the fields and gathered the grapes and trodden them, they held a festival in the temple of their god. While they were eating and drinking, they cursed Abimelech.

28. 에벳의 아들 가알이 가로되 아비멜렉은 누구며 세겜은 누구기에 우리가 아비멜렉을 섬기리요 그가 여룹바알의 아들이 아니냐 그 장관은 스불이 아니냐 차라리 세겜의 아비 하몰의 후손을 섬길 것이라 우리가 어찌 아비멜렉을 섬기리요
  Then Gaal son of Ebed said, "Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should be subject to him? Isn't he Jerub-Baal's son, and isn't Zebul his deputy? Serve the men of Hamor, Shechem's father! Why should we serve Abimelech?

29. 아하, 이 백성이 내 수하에 있었더면 내가 아비멜렉을 제하였으리라 하고 아비멜렉에게 네 군대를 더하고 나오라고 말하니라
  If only this people were under my command! Then I would get rid of him. I would say to Abimelech, 'Call out your whole army!'"

30. 그 성읍 장관 스불이 에벳의 아들 가알의 말을 듣고 노하여
  When Zebul the governor of the city heard what Gaal son of Ebed said, he was very angry.

31. 사자를 아비멜렉에게 가만히 보내어 가로되 보소서 에벳의 아들 가알과 그 형제가 세겜에 이르러 성읍 무리를 충동하여 당신을 대적하게 하나니
  Under cover he sent messengers to Abimelech, saying, "Gaal son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem and are stirring up the city against you.

32. 당신은 당신을 좇은 백성으로 더불어 밤에 일어나서 밭에 매복하였다가
  Now then, during the night you and your men should come and lie in wait in the fields.

33. 아침 해 뜰 때에 당신은 일찌기 일어나 이 성읍을 엄습하면 가알과 그를 좇은 백성이 나와서 당신을 대적하리니 당신은 기회를 보아 그들에게 행하소서
  In the morning at sunrise, advance against the city. When Gaal and his men come out against you, do whatever your hand finds to do."

34. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 백성이 밤에 일어나 네 떼로 나눠 세겜을 대하여 매복하였더니
  So Abimelech and all his troops set out by night and took up concealed positions near Shechem in four companies.

35. 에벳의 아들 가알이 나와서 성읍문 입구에 설 때에 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 백성이 매복하였던 곳에서 일어난지라
  Now Gaal son of Ebed had gone out and was standing at the entrance to the city gate just as Abimelech and his soldiers came out from their hiding place.

36. 가알이 그 백성을 보고 스불에게 이르되 보라 백성이 산꼭대기에서부터 내려오는도다 스불이 그에게 대답하되 네가 산 그림자를 사람으로 보았느니라
  When Gaal saw them, he said to Zebul, "Look, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains!" Zebul replied, "You mistake the shadows of the mountains for men."

37. 가알이 다시 말하여 가로되 보라 백성이 밭 가운데로 좇아 내려오고 또 한 떼는 므오느님 상수리나무 길로 좇아오는도다
  But Gaal spoke up again: "Look, people are coming down from the center of the land, and a company is coming from the direction of the soothsayers' tree."

38. 스불이 그에게 이르되 네가 전에 말하기를 아비멜렉이 누구관대 우리가 그를 섬기리요 하던 그 입이 이제 어디 있느냐 이가 너의 업신여기던 백성이 아니냐 청하노니 이제 나가서 그들과 싸우라
  Then Zebul said to him, "Where is your big talk now, you who said, 'Who is Abimelech that we should be subject to him?' Aren't these the men you ridiculed? Go out and fight them!"

39. 가알이 세겜 사람들의 앞서 나가서 아비멜렉과 싸우다가
  So Gaal led out the citizens of Shechem and fought Abimelech.

40. 아비멜렉에게 쫓겨 그 앞에서 도망하였고 상하여 엎드러진 자가 많아서 성문 입구까지 이르렀더라
  Abimelech chased him, and many fell wounded in the flight--all the way to the entrance to the gate.

41. 아비멜렉은 아루마에 거하고 스불은 가알과 그 형제를 쫓아내어 세겜에 거하지 못하게 하더니
  Abimelech stayed in Arumah, and Zebul drove Gaal and his brothers out of Shechem.

42. 이튿날 백성이 밭으로 나오매 혹이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 고하니라
  The next day the people of Shechem went out to the fields, and this was reported to Abimelech.

43. 아비멜렉이 자기 백성을 세 떼로 나눠 밭에 매복하였더니 백성이 성에서 나오는 것을 보고 일어나서 그들을 치되
  So he took his men, divided them into three companies and set an ambush in the fields. When he saw the people coming out of the city, he rose to attack them.

44. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 떼는 앞으로 달려가서 성문 입구에 서고 그 나머지 두 떼는 밭에 있는 모든 자에게 달려들어 그들을 죽이니
  Abimelech and the companies with him rushed forward to a position at the entrance to the city gate. Then two companies rushed upon those in the fields and struck them down.

45. 아비멜렉이 그 날 종일토록 그 성을 쳐서 필경은 취하고 거기 있는 백성을 죽이며 그 성을 헐고 소금을 뿌리니라
  All that day Abimelech pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city and scattered salt over it.

46. 세겜 망대의 사람들이 이를 듣고 엘브릿 신당의 보장으로 들어갔더니
  On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem went into the stronghold of the temple of El-Berith.

47. 세겜 망대의 모든 사람의 모인 것이 아비멜렉에게 들리매
  When Abimelech heard that they had assembled there,

48. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 백성이 살몬산에 오르고 아비멜렉이 손에 도끼를 들고 나무가지를 찍고 그것을 가져 자기 어깨에 메고 좇은 백성에게 이르되 너희는 나의 행하는 것을 보나니 빨리 나와 같이 행하라 하니
  he and all his men went up Mount Zalmon. He took an ax and cut off some branches, which he lifted to his shoulders. He ordered the men with him, "Quick! Do what you have seen me do!"

49. 모든 백성도 각각 나무가지를 찍어서 아비멜렉을 좇아 보장에 대어 놓고 그곳에 불을 놓으매 세겜 망대에 있는 사람들도 다 죽었으니 남녀가 대략 일천명이었더라
  So all the men cut branches and followed Abimelech. They piled them against the stronghold and set it on fire over the people inside. So all the people in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, also died.

50. 아비멜렉이 데베스에 가서 데베스를 대하여 진치고 그것을 취하였더니
  Next Abimelech went to Thebez and besieged it and captured it.

51. 성중에 견고한 망대가 있으므로 그 성 백성의 남녀가 모두 그리로 도망하여 들어가서 문을 잠그고 망대 꼭대기로 올라간지라
  Inside the city, however, was a strong tower, to which all the men and women--all the people of the city--fled. They locked themselves in and climbed up on the tower roof.

52. 아비멜렉이 망대 앞에 이르러서 치며 망대의 문에 가까이 나아가서 그것을 불사르려 하더니
  Abimelech went to the tower and stormed it. But as he approached the entrance to the tower to set it on fire,

53. 한 여인이 맷돌 윗짝을 아비멜렉의 머리 위에 내려던져 그 두골을 깨뜨리니
  a woman dropped an upper millstone on his head and cracked his skull.

54. 아비멜렉이 자기의 병기 잡은 소년을 급히 불러 그에게 이르되 너는 칼을 빼어 나를 죽이라 사람들이 나를 가리켜 이르기를 그가 여인에게 죽었다 할까 하노라 소년이 찌르매 그가 곧 죽은지라
  Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword and kill me, so that they can't say, 'A woman killed him.'" So his servant ran him through, and he died.

55. 이스라엘 사람들이 아비멜렉의 죽은 것을 보고 각각 자기 처소로 떠나갔더라
  When the Israelites saw that Abimelech was dead, they went home.

56. 아비멜렉이 그 형제 칠십 인을 죽여 자기 아비에게 행한 악을 하나님이 이같이 갚으셨고
  Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.

57. 또 세겜 사람들의 모든 악을 하나님이 그들의 머리에 갚으셨으니 여룹바알의 아들 요담의 저주가 그들에게 응하니라
  God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.

사도행전 13

1. 안디옥 교회에 선지자들과 교사들이 있으니 곧 바나바와 니게르라 하는 시므온과 구레네 사람 루기오와 분봉왕 헤롯의 젖동생 마나엔과 및 사울이라
  In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.

2. 주를 섬겨 금식할 때에 성령이 가라사대 내가 불러 시키는 일을 위하여 바나바와 사울을 따로 세우라 하시니
  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

3. 이에 금식하며 기도하고 두 사람에게 안수하여 보내니라
  So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

4. 두 사람이 성령의 보내심을 받아 실루기아에 내려가 거기서 배 타고 구브로에 가서
  The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.

5. 살라미에 이르러 하나님의 말씀을 유대인의 여러 회당에서 전할쌔 요한을 수종자로 두었더라
  When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.

6. 온 섬 가운데로 지나서 바보에 이르러 바예수라 하는 유대인 거짓 선지자 박수를 만나니
  They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus,

7. 그가 총독 서기오 바울과 함께 있으니 서기오 바울은 지혜 있는 사람이라 바나바와 사울을 불러 하나님 말씀을 듣고자 하더라
  who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.

8. 이 박수 엘루마는 (이 이름을 번역하면 박수라) 저희를 대적하여 총독으로 믿지 못하게 힘쓰니
  But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith.

9. 바울이라고 하는 사울이 성령이 충만하여 그를 주목하고
  Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said,

10. 가로되 모든 궤계와 악행이 가득한 자요 마귀의 자식이요 모든 의의 원수여 주의 바른 길을 굽게 하기를 그치지 아니하겠느냐
  "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?

11. 보라 이제 주의 손이 네 위에 있으니 네가 소경이 되어 얼마 동안 해를 보지 못하리라 하니 즉시 안개와 어두움이 그를 덮어 인도할 사람을 두루 구하는지라
  Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun." Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

12. 이에 총독이 그렇게 된 것을 보고 믿으며 주의 가르치심을 기이히 여기니라
  When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

13. 바울과 및 동행하는 사람들이 바보에서 배 타고 밤빌리아에 있는 버가에 이르니 요한은 저희에게서 떠나 예루살렘으로 돌아가고
  From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem.

14. 저희는 버가로부터 지나 비시디아 안디옥에 이르러 안식일에 회당에 들어가 앉으니라
  From Perga they went on to Pisidian Antioch. On the Sabbath they entered the synagogue and sat down.

15. 율법과 선지자의 글을 읽은 후에 회당장들이 사람을 보내어 물어 가로되 형제들아 만일 백성을 권할 말이 있거든 말하라 하니
  After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the synagogue rulers sent word to them, saying, "Brothers, if you have a message of encouragement for the people, please speak."

16. 바울이 일어나 손짓하며 말하되 이스라엘 사람들과 및 하나님을 경외하는 사람들아 들으라
  Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand and said: "Men of Israel and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me!

17. 이 이스라엘 백성의 하나님이 우리 조상들을 택하시고 애굽 땅에서 나그네 된 그 백성을 높여 큰 권능으로 인도하여 내사
  The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers; he made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt, with mighty power he led them out of that country,

18. 광야에서 약 사십 년간 저희 소행을 참으시고
  he endured their conduct for about forty years in the desert,

19. 가나안 땅 일곱 족속을 멸하사 그 땅을 기업으로 주시고 (약 사백오십 년간)
  he overthrew seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to his people as their inheritance.

20. 그 후에 선지자 사무엘 때까지 사사를 주셨더니
  All this took about 450 years. "After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet.

21. 그 후에 저희가 왕을 구하거늘 하나님이 베냐민 지파 사람 기스의 아들 사울을 사십 년간 주셨다가
  Then the people asked for a king, and he gave them Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years.

22. 폐하시고 다윗을 왕으로 세우시고 증거하여 가라사대 내가 이새의 아들 다윗을 만나니 내 마음에 합한 사람이라 내 뜻을 다 이루게 하리라 하시더니
  After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'

23. 하나님이 약속하신 대로 이 사람의 씨에서 이스라엘을 위하여 구주를 세우셨으니 곧 예수라
  "From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised.

24. 그 오시는 앞에 요한이 먼저 회개의 세례를 이스라엘 모든 백성에게 전파하니라
  Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel.

25. 요한이 그 달려갈 길을 마칠 때에 말하되 너희가 나를 누구로 생각하느냐 나는 그리스도가 아니라 내 뒤에 오시는 이가 있으니 나는 그 발의 신 풀기도 감당치 못하리라 하였으니
  As John was completing his work, he said: 'Who do you think I am? I am not that one. No, but he is coming after me, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.'

26. 형제들 아브라함의 후예와 너희 중 하나님을 경외하는 사람들아 이 구원의 말씀을 우리에게 보내셨거늘
  "Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.

27. 예루살렘에 사는 자들과 저희 관원들이 예수와 및 안식일마다 외우는 바 선지자들의 말을 알지 못하므로 예수를 정죄하여 선지자들의 말을 응하게 하였도다
  The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.

28. 죽일 죄를 하나도 찾지 못하였으나 빌라도에게 죽여 달라 하였으니
  Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.

29. 성경에 저를 가리켜 기록한 말씀을 다 응하게 한 것이라 후에 나무에서 내려다가 무덤에 두었으나
  When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.

30. 하나님이 죽은 자 가운데서 저를 살리신지라
  But God raised him from the dead,

31. 갈릴리로부터 예루살렘에 함께 올라간 사람들에게 여러 날 보이셨으니 저희가 이제 백성 앞에 그의 증인이라
  and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.

32. 우리도 조상들에게 주신 약속을 너희에게 전파하노니
  "We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers

33. 곧 하나님이 예수를 일으키사 우리 자녀들에게 이 약속을 이루게 하셨다 함이라 시편 둘째 편에 기록한 바와 같이 너는 내 아들이라 오늘 너를 낳았다 하셨고
  he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: "'You are my Son; today I have become your Father.'

34. 또 하나님께서 죽은 자 가운데서 저를 일으키사 다시 썩음을 당하지 않게 하실 것을 가르쳐 가라사대 내가 다윗의 거룩하고 미쁜 은사를 너희에게 주리라 하셨으니
  The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to decay, is stated in these words: "'I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.'

35. 그러므로 또 다른 편에 일렀으되 주의 거룩한 자로 썩음을 당하지 않게 하시리라 하셨느니라
  So it is stated elsewhere: "'You will not let your Holy One see decay.'

36. 다윗은 당시에 하나님의 뜻을 좇아 섬기다가 잠들어 그 조상들과 함께 묻혀 썩음을 당하였으되
  "For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed.

37. 하나님의 살리신 이는 썩음을 당하지 아니하였나니
  But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.

38. 그러므로 형제들아 너희가 알 것은 이 사람을 힘입어 죄 사함을 너희에게 전하는 이것이며
  "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.

39. 또 모세의 율법으로 너희가 의롭다 하심을 얻지 못하던 모든 일에도 이 사람을 힘입어 믿는 자마다 의롭다 하심을 얻는 이것이라
  Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.

40. 그런즉 너희는 선지자들로 말씀하신 것이 너희에게 미칠까 삼가라
  Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:

41. 일렀으되 보라 멸시하는 사람들아 너희는 놀라고 망하라 내가 너희 때를 당하여 한 일을 행할 것이니 사람이 너희에게 이를찌라도 도무지 믿지 못할 일이라 하였느니라 하니라
  "'Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.'"

42. 저희가 나갈쌔 사람들이 청하되 다음 안식일에도 이 말씀을 하라 하더라
  As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath.

43. 폐회한 후에 유대인과 유대교에 입교한 경건한 사람들이 많이 바울과 바나바를 좇으니 두 사도가 더불어 말하고 항상 하나님의 은혜 가운데 있으라 권하니라
  When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.

44. 그 다음 안식일에는 온 성이 거의 다 하나님 말씀을 듣고자 하여 모이니
  On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.

45. 유대인들이 그 무리를 보고 시기가 가득하여 바울의 말한 것을 변박하고 비방하거늘
  When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what Paul was saying.

46. 바울과 바나바가 담대히 말하여 가로되 하나님의 말씀을 마땅히 먼저 너희에게 전할 것이로되 너희가 버리고 영생 얻음에 합당치 않은 자로 자처하기로 우리가 이방인에게로 향하노라
  Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.

47. 주께서 이같이 우리를 명하시되 내가 너를 이방의 빛을 삼아 너로 땅 끝까지 구원하게 하리라 하셨느니라 하니
  For this is what the Lord has commanded us: "'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"

48. 이방인들이 듣고 기뻐하여 하나님의 말씀을 찬송하며 영생을 주시기로 작정된 자는 다 믿더라
  When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

49. 주의 말씀이 그 지방에 두루 퍼지니라
  The word of the Lord spread through the whole region.

50. 이에 유대인들이 경건한 귀부인들과 그 성내 유력자들을 선동하여 바울과 바나바를 핍박케 하여 그 지경에서 쫓아내니
  But the Jews incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.

51. 두 사람이 저희를 향하여 발에 티끌을 떨어 버리고 이고니온으로 가거늘
  So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.

52. 제자들은 기쁨과 성령이 충만하니라
  And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

예레미야 22

1. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 너는 유다 왕의 집에 내려가서 거기서 이를 선언하여
  This is what the LORD says: "Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and proclaim this message there:

2. 이르기를 다윗의 위에 앉은 유다 왕이여 너와 네 신하와 이 문들로 들어오는 네 백성은 여호와의 말씀을 들을찌니라
  'Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, you who sit on David's throne--you, your officials and your people who come through these gates.

3. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 너희가 공평과 정의를 행하여 탈취당한 자를 압박하는 자의 손에서 건지고 이방인과 고아와 과부를 압제하거나 학대하지 말며 이 곳에서 무죄한 피를 흘리지 말라
  This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.

4. 너희가 참으로 이 말을 준행하면 다윗의 위에 앉을 왕들과 신하들과 백성이 병거와 말을 타고 이 집 문으로 들어오게 되리라마는
  For if you are careful to carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David's throne will come through the gates of this palace, riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by their officials and their people.

5. 너희가 이 말을 듣지 아니하면 내가 나로 맹세하노니 이 집이 황무하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  But if you do not obey these commands, declares the LORD, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.'"

6. 나 여호와가 유다 왕의 집에 대하여 이같이 말하노라 네가 내게 길르앗 같고 레바논의 꼭대기 같으나 내가 정녕히 너로 광야와 거민이 없는 성을 만들 것이라
  For this is what the LORD says about the palace of the king of Judah: "Though you are like Gilead to me, like the summit of Lebanon, I will surely make you like a desert, like towns not inhabited.

7. 내가 너 파멸할 자를 준비하리니 그들이 각기 손에 병기를 가지고 네 아름다운 백향목을 찍어 불에 던지리라
  I will send destroyers against you, each man with his weapons, and they will cut up your fine cedar beams and throw them into the fire.

8. 여러 나라 사람이 이 성으로 지나며 피차 말하기를 여호와가 이 큰 성에 이같이 행함은 어찜인고 하겠고
  "People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another, 'Why has the LORD done such a thing to this great city?'

9. 대답하기는 이는 그들이 자기 하나님 여호와의 언약을 버리고 다른 신들에게 절하고 그를 섬긴 연고라 하리라 하셨다 할찌니라
  And the answer will be: 'Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God and have worshiped and served other gods.'"

10. 너희는 죽은 자를 위하여 울지 말며 그를 위하여 애통하지 말고 잡혀간 자를 위하여 슬피 울라 그는 다시 돌아와서 그 고국을 보지 못할 것임이니라
  Do not weep for the dead king or mourn his loss; rather, weep bitterly for him who is exiled, because he will never return nor see his native land again.

11. 나 여호와가 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 곧 그 아비 요시야를 이어 왕이 되었다가 이 곳에서 나간 살룸에 대하여 말하노라 그가 이 곳으로 다시 돌아오지 못하고
  For this is what the LORD says about Shallum son of Josiah, who succeeded his father as king of Judah but has gone from this place: "He will never return.

12. 잡혀간 곳에서 죽으리니 이 땅을 다시 보지 못하리라
  He will die in the place where they have led him captive; he will not see this land again."

13. 불의로 그 집을 세우며 불공평으로 그 다락방을 지으며 그 이웃을 고용하고 그 고가를 주지 아니하는 자에게 화 있을찐저
  "Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his countrymen work for nothing, not paying them for their labor.

14. 그가 이르기를 내가 나를 위하여 광대한 집과 광활한 다락방을 지으리라 하고 자기를 위하여 창을 만들고 그것에 백향목으로 입히고 붉은 빛으로 칠하도다
  He says, 'I will build myself a great palace with spacious upper rooms.' So he makes large windows in it, panels it with cedar and decorates it in red.

15. 네가 백향목으로 집짓기를 경쟁하므로 왕이 될 수 있겠느냐 네 아비가 먹으며 마시지 아니하였으며 공평과 의리를 행치 아니하였느냐 그 때에 그가 형통하였었느니라
  "Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him.

16. 그는 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자를 신원하고 형통하였나니 이것이 나를 앎이 아니냐 여호와의 말이니라
  He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" declares the LORD.

17. 그러나 네 눈과 마음은 탐남과 무죄한 피를 흘림과 압박과 강포를 행하려 할 뿐이니라
  "But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion."

18. 그러므로 나 여호와가 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야김에게 대하여 이같이 말하노라 무리가 그를 위하여 슬프다 내 형제여, 슬프다 내 자매여 하며 통곡하지 아니할 것이며 그를 위하여 슬프다 주여 슬프다 그 영광이여 하며 통곡하지도 아니할 것이라
  Therefore this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: "They will not mourn for him: 'Alas, my brother! Alas, my sister!' They will not mourn for him: 'Alas, my master! Alas, his splendor!'

19. 그가 끌려 예루살렘 문 밖에 던지우고 나귀같이 매장함을 당하리라
  He will have the burial of a donkey--dragged away and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem."

20. 너는 레바논에 올라 외치며 바산에서 네 소리를 높이며 아바림에서 외치라 이는 너를 사랑하는 자가 다 멸망하였음이니라
  "Go up to Lebanon and cry out, let your voice be heard in Bashan, cry out from Abarim, for all your allies are crushed.

21. 네가 평안할 때에 내가 네게 말하였으나 네 말이 나는 듣지 아니하리라 하였나니 네가 어려서부터 내 목소리를 청종치 아니함이 네 습관이라
  I warned you when you felt secure, but you said, 'I will not listen!' This has been your way from your youth; you have not obeyed me.

22. 네 목자들은 다 바람에 삼키울 것이요 너를 사랑하는 자들은 사로잡혀 가리니 그 때에 네가 반드시 네 모든 악을 인하여 수치와 욕을 당하리라
  The wind will drive all your shepherds away, and your allies will go into exile. Then you will be ashamed and disgraced because of all your wickedness.

23. 레바논에 거하여 백향목에 깃들이는 자여 여인의 해산하는 고통 같은 고통이 네게 임할 때에 너의 가련함이 얼마나 심하랴
  You who live in 'Lebanon,' who are nestled in cedar buildings, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain like that of a woman in labor!

24. 나 여호와가 말하노라 나의 삶으로 맹세하노니 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 너 고니야가 나의 오른손의 인장반지라 할찌라도 내가 빼어
  "As surely as I live," declares the LORD, "even if you, Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were a signet ring on my right hand, I would still pull you off.

25. 네 생명을 찾는 자의 손과 너의 두려워하는 자의 손 곧 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손과 갈대아인의 손에 줄 것이라
  I will hand you over to those who seek your life, those you fear--to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Babylonians.

26. 내가 너와 너를 낳은 어미를 너희가 나지 아니한 다른 지방에 쫓아내리니 너희가 거기서 죽고
  I will hurl you and the mother who gave you birth into another country, where neither of you was born, and there you both will die.

27. 너희 마음에 돌아오기를 사모하는 땅에 돌아오지 못하리라
  You will never come back to the land you long to return to."

28. 이 사람 고니야는 천한 파기냐 좋아하지 아니하는 그릇이냐 어찌하여 그와 그 자손이 쫓겨나서 알지 못하는 땅에 들어갔는고
  Is this man Jehoiachin a despised, broken pot, an object no one wants? Why will he and his children be hurled out, cast into a land they do not know?

29. 땅이여, 땅이여, 땅이여, 여호와의 말을 들을찌니라
  O land, land, land, hear the word of the LORD!

30. 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 너희는 이 사람이 무자하겠고 그 평생에 형통치 못할 자라 기록하라 이는 그 자손 중 형통하여 다윗의 위에 앉아 유다를 다스릴 사람이 다시는 없을 것임이니라
  This is what the LORD says: "Record this man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his lifetime, for none of his offspring will prosper, none will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in Judah."

마가복음 8

1. 그 즈음에 또 큰 무리가 있어 먹을 것이 없는지라 예수께서 제자들을 불러 이르시되
  During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said,

2. 내가 무리를 불쌍히 여기노라 저희가 나와 함께 있은 지 이미 사흘이매 먹을 것이 없도다
  "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.

3. 만일 내가 저희를 굶겨 집으로 보내면 길에서 기진하리라 그 중에는 멀리서 온 사람도 있느니라
  If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance."

4. 제자들이 대답하되 이 광야에서 어디서 떡을 얻어 이 사람들로 배부르게 할 수 있으리이까
  His disciples answered, "But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?"

5. 예수께서 물으시되 너희에게 떡 몇 개나 있느냐 가로되 일곱이로소이다 하거늘
  "How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they replied.

6. 예수께서 무리를 명하사 땅에 앉게 하시고 떡 일곱 개를 가지사 축사하시고 떼어 제자들에게 주어 그 앞에 놓게 하시니 제자들이 무리 앞에 놓더라
  He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and they did so.

7. 또 작은 생선 두어 마리가 있는지라 이에 축복하시고 명하사 이것도 그 앞에 놓게 하시니
  They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them.

8. 배불리 먹고 남은 조각 일곱 광주리를 거두었으며
  The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

9. 사람은 약 사천 명이었더라 예수께서 저희를 흩어 보내시고
  About four thousand men were present. And having sent them away,

10. 곧 제자들과 함께 배에 오르사 달마누다 지방으로 가시니라
  he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.

11. 바리새인들이 나와서 예수께 힐난하며 그를 시험하여 하늘로서 오는 표적을 구하거늘
  The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.

12. 예수께서 마음 속에 깊이 탄식하시며 가라사대 어찌하여 이 세대가 표적을 구하느냐 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이 세대에게 표적을 주시지 아니하리라 하시고
  He sighed deeply and said, "Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it."

13. 저희를 떠나 다시 배에 올라 건너편으로 가시니라
  Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.

14. 제자들이 떡 가져오기를 잊었으매 배에 떡 한 개밖에 저희에게 없더라
  The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

15. 예수께서 경계하여 가라사대 삼가 바리새인들의 누룩과 헤롯의 누룩을 주의하라 하신대
  "Be careful," Jesus warned them. "Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."

16. 제자들이 서로 의논하기를 이는 우리에게 떡이 없음이로다 하거늘
  They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread."

17. 예수께서 아시고 이르시되 너희가 어찌 떡이 없음으로 의논하느냐 아직도 알지 못하며 깨닫지 못하느냐 너희 마음이 둔하냐
  Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?

18. 너희가 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하느냐 또 기억지 못하느냐
  Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?

19. 내가 떡 다섯 개를 오천 명에게 떼어 줄 때에 조각 몇 바구니를 거두었더냐 가로되 열둘이니이다
  When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied.

20. 또 일곱 개를 사천 명에게 떼어 줄 때에 조각 몇 광주리를 거두었더냐 가로되 일곱이니이다
  "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" They answered, "Seven."

21. 가라사대 아직도 깨닫지 못하느냐 하시니라
  He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"

22. 벳새다에 이르매 사람들이 소경 하나를 데리고 예수께 나아와 손대시기를 구하거늘
  They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.

23. 예수께서 소경의 손을 붙드시고 마을 밖으로 데리고 나가사 눈에 침을 뱉으시며 그에게 안수하시고 무엇이 보이느냐 물으시니
  He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"

24. 우러러 보며 가로되 사람들이 보이나이다 나무 같은 것들의 걸어가는 것을 보나이다 하거늘
  He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."

25. 이에 그 눈에 다시 안수하시매 저가 주목하여 보더니 나아서 만물을 밝히 보는지라
  Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

26. 예수께서 그 사람을 집으로 보내시며 가라사대 마을에도 들어가지 말라 하시니라
  Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't go into the village."

27. 예수와 제자들이 가이사랴 빌립보 여러 마을로 나가실쌔 노중에서 제자들에게 물어 가라사대사람들이 나를 누구라고 하느냐
  Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"

28. 여짜와 가로되 세례 요한이라 하고 더러는 엘리야, 더러는 선지자 중의 하나라 하나이다
  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."

29. 또 물으시되 너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 주는 그리스도시니이다 하매
  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ."

30. 이에 자기의 일을 아무에게도 말하지 말라 경계하시고
  Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

31. 인자가 많은 고난을 받고 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 버린 바 되어 죽임을 당하고 사흘 만에 살아나야 할 것을 비로소 저희에게 가르치시되
  He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

32. 드러내 놓고 이 말씀을 하시니 베드로가 예수를 붙들고 간하매
  He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

33. 예수께서 돌이키사 제자들을 보시며 베드로를 꾸짖어 가라사대 사단아 내 뒤로 물러가라 네가 하나님의 일을 생각지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다 하시고
  But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."

34. 무리와 제자들을 불러 이르시되 아무든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라
  Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

35. 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원코자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나와 복음을 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 구원하리라
  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.

36. 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요
  What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

37. 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨을 바꾸겠느냐
  Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

38. 누구든지 이 음란하고 죄 많은 세대에서 나와 내 말을 부끄러워하면 인자도 아버지의 영광으로 거룩한 천사들과 함께 올 때에 그 사람을 부끄러워하리라
  If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
