여호수아 11

1. 하솔 왕 야빈이 이 소식을 듣고 마돈 왕 요밥과 시므론 왕과 악삽 왕과
  When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Acshaph,

2. 및 북방 산지와 긴네롯 남편 아라바와 평지와 서방 돌의 높은 곳에 있는 왕들과
  and to the northern kings who were in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Kinnereth, in the western foothills and in Naphoth Dor on the west;

3. 동서편 가나안 사람과 아모리 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 산지의 여부스 사람과 미스바 땅 헤르몬 산 아래 히위 사람들에게 사람을 보내매
  to the Canaanites in the east and west; to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites and Jebusites in the hill country; and to the Hivites below Hermon in the region of Mizpah.

4. 그들이 그 모든 군대를 거느리고 나왔으니 민중이 많아 해변의 수다한 모래 같고 말과 병거도 심히 많았으며
  They came out with all their troops and a large number of horses and chariots--a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore.

5. 이 왕들이 모여 나아와서 이스라엘과 싸우려고 메롬 물가에 함께 진쳤더라
  All these kings joined forces and made camp together at the Waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

6. 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 그들을 인하여 두려워 말라 내일 이맘때에 내가 그들을 이스라엘 앞에 붙여 몰살시키리니 너는 그들의 말 뒷발의 힘줄을 끊고 불로 그 병거를 사르라
  The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel, slain. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots."

7. 이에 여호수아가 모든 군사와 함께 메롬 물가로 가서 졸지에 습격할 때에
  So Joshua and his whole army came against them suddenly at the Waters of Merom and attacked them,

8. 여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이신 고로 그들을 격파하고 큰 시돈과 미스르봇 마임까지 쫓고 동편에서는 미스바 골짜기까지 쫓아가서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하고 쳐죽이고
  and the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel. They defeated them and pursued them all the way to Greater Sidon, to Misrephoth Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpah on the east, until no survivors were left.

9. 여호수아가 여호와께서 자기에게 명하신 대로 행하여 그들의 말 뒷발의 힘줄을 끊고 불로 그 병거를 살랐더라
  Joshua did to them as the LORD had directed: He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots.

10. 하솔은 본래 그 모든 나라의 머리였더니 그 때에 여호수아가 돌아와서 하솔을 취하고 그 왕을 칼날로 쳐죽이고
  At that time Joshua turned back and captured Hazor and put its king to the sword. (Hazor had been the head of all these kingdoms.)

11. 그 가운데 모든 사람을 칼날로 쳐서 진멸하여 호흡이 있는 자는 하나도 남기지 아니하였고 또 불로 하솔을 살랐으며
  Everyone in it they put to the sword. They totally destroyed them, not sparing anything that breathed, and he burned up Hazor itself.

12. 여호수아가 그 왕들의 모든 성읍과 그 모든 왕을 취하여 칼날로 쳐서 진멸하여 여호와의 종 모세의 명한 것과 같이 하였으되
  Joshua took all these royal cities and their kings and put them to the sword. He totally destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.

13. 여호수아가 하솔만 불살랐고 산 위에 건축된 성읍들은 이스라엘이 불사르지 아니하였으며
  Yet Israel did not burn any of the cities built on their mounds--except Hazor, which Joshua burned.

14. 이 성읍들의 모든 재물과 가축은 이스라엘 자손들이 탈취하고 모든 사람은 칼날로 쳐서 진멸하여 호흡이 있는 자는 하나도 남기지 아니하였으니
  The Israelites carried off for themselves all the plunder and livestock of these cities, but all the people they put to the sword until they completely destroyed them, not sparing anyone that breathed.

15. 여호와께서 그 종 모세에게 명하신 것을 모세는 여호수아에게 명하였고 여호수아는 그대로 행하여 여호와께서 무릇 모세에게 명하신 것을 하나도 행치 아니한 것이 없었더라
  As the LORD commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

16. 여호수아가 이같이 그 온 땅 곧 산지와 온 남방과 고센 온 땅과 평지와 아라바와 이스라엘의 산지와 그 평지를 취하였으니
  So Joshua took this entire land: the hill country, all the Negev, the whole region of Goshen, the western foothills, the Arabah and the mountains of Israel with their foothills,

17. 곧 세일로 올라가는 할락 산에서부터 헤르몬 산 아래 레바논 골짜기의 바알갓까지라 그 모든 왕을 잡아 쳐죽였으며
  from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, to Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down, putting them to death.

18. 여호수아가 그 모든 왕과 싸운 지는 여러 날이라
  Joshua waged war against all these kings for a long time.

19. 기브온 거민 히위 사람 외에는 이스라엘 자손과 화친한 성읍이 하나도 없고 다 이스라엘 자손에게 쳐서 취한 바 되었으니
  Except for the Hivites living in Gibeon, not one city made a treaty of peace with the Israelites, who took them all in battle.

20. 그들의 마음이 강퍅하여 이스라엘을 대적하여 싸우러 온 것은 여호와께서 그리하게 하신 것이라 그들로 저주받은 자 되게 하여 은혜를 입지 못하게 하시고 여호와께서 모세에게 명하신 대로 진멸하려 하심이었더라
  For it was the LORD himself who hardened their hearts to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

21. 그 때에 여호수아가 가서 산지와 헤브론과 드빌과 아납과 유다 온 산지와 이스라엘의 온 산지에서 아낙 사람을 멸절하고 그가 또 그 성읍들을 진멸하였으므로
  At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir and Anab, from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns.

22. 이스라엘 자손의 땅 안에는 아낙 사람이 하나도 남음이 없고 가사와 가드와 아스돗에만 약간 남았었더라
  No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod did any survive.

23. 이와 같이 여호수아가 여호와께서 모세에게 이르신 말씀대로 그 온 땅을 취하여 이스라엘 지파의 구별을 따라 기업으로 주었더라 그 땅에 전쟁이 그쳤더라
  So Joshua took the entire land, just as the LORD had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.

시편 144

1. 나의 반석 여호와를 찬송하리로다 저가 내 손을 가르쳐 싸우게 하시며 손가락을 가르쳐 치게 하시도다
  Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

2. 여호와는 나의 인자시요 나의 요새시요 나의 산성이시요 나를 건지는 자시요 나의 방패시요 나의 피난처시요 내 백성을 내게 복종케 하시는 자시로다
  He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

3. 여호와여 사람이 무엇이관대 주께서 저를 알아 주시며 인생이 무엇이관대 저를 생각하시나이까
  O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?

4. 사람은 헛것 같고 그의 날은 지나가는 그림자 같으니이다
  Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.

5. 여호와여 주의 하늘을 드리우고 강림하시며 산들에 접촉하사 연기가 발하게 하소서
  Part your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.

6. 번개를 번득이사 대적을 흩으시며 주의 살을 발하사 저희를 파하소서
  Send forth lightning and scatter the enemies; shoot your arrows and rout them.

7. 위에서부터 주의 손을 펴사 나를 큰 물과 이방인의 손에서 구하여 건지소서
  Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners

8. 저희 입은 궤사를 말하며 그 오른손은 거짓의 오른손이니이다
  whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.

9. 하나님이여 내가 주께 새 노래로 노래하며 열 줄 비파로 주를 찬양하리이다
  I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,

10. 주는 왕들에게 구원을 베푸시는 자시요 종 다윗을 그 해하는 칼에서 구하시는 자시니이다
  to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword.

11. 이방인의 손에서 나를 구하여 건지소서 저희 입은 궤사를 말하며 그 오른손은 거짓의 오른손이니이다
  Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.

12. 우리 아들들은 어리다가 장성한 나무 같으며 우리 딸들은 궁전의 식양대로 아름답게 다듬은 모퉁이 돌과 같으며
  Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

13. 우리의 곳간에는 백곡이 가득하며 우리의 양은 들에서 천천과 만만으로 번성하며
  Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;

14. 우리 수소는 무겁게 실었으며 또 우리를 침로하는 일이나 우리가 나아가 막는 일이 없으며 우리 거리에는 슬피 부르짖음이 없을찐대
  our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.

15. 이러한 백성은 복이 있나니 여호와를 자기 하나님으로 삼는 백성은 복이 있도다
  Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

■ 혼자 읽기

예레미야 5

1. 너희는 예루살렘 거리로 빨리 왕래하며 그 넓은 거리에서 찾아보고 알라 너희가 만일 공의를 행하며 진리를 구하는 자를 한 사람이라도 찾으면 내가 이 성을 사하리라
  "Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.

2. 그들이 여호와의 사심으로 맹세할찌라도 실상은 거짓 맹세니라
  Although they say, 'As surely as the LORD lives,' still they are swearing falsely."

3. 여호와여 주의 눈이 성실을 돌아보지 아니하시나이까 주께서 그들을 치셨을찌라도 그들이 아픈줄을 알지 못하며 그들을 거의 멸하셨을찌라도 그들이 징계를 받지 아니하고 그 얼굴을 반석보다 굳게 하여 돌아오기를 싫어하므로
  O LORD, do not your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain; you crushed them, but they refused correction. They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent.

4. 내가 말하기를 이 무리는 비천하고 우준한 것뿐이라 여호와의 길, 자기 하나님의 법을 알지 못하니
  I thought, "These are only the poor; they are foolish, for they do not know the way of the LORD, the requirements of their God.

5. 내가 귀인들에게 가서 그들에게 말하리라 그들은 여호와의 길, 자기 하나님의 법을 안다 하였더니 그들도 일제히 그 멍에를 꺾고 결박을 끊은지라
  So I will go to the leaders and speak to them; surely they know the way of the LORD, the requirements of their God." But with one accord they too had broken off the yoke and torn off the bonds.

6. 그러므로 수풀에서 나오는 사자가 그들을 죽이며 사막의 이리가 그들을 멸하며 표범이 성읍들을 엿보온즉 그리로 나오는 자마다 찢기오리니 이는 그들의 허물이 많고 패역이 심함이니이다
  Therefore a lion from the forest will attack them, a wolf from the desert will ravage them, a leopard will lie in wait near their towns to tear to pieces any who venture out, for their rebellion is great and their backslidings many.

7. 내가 어찌 너를 사하겠느냐 네 자녀가 나를 버리고 신이 아닌 것들로 맹세하였으며 내가 그들을 배불리 먹인즉 그들이 행음하며 창기의 집에 허다히 모이며
  "Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken me and sworn by gods that are not gods. I supplied all their needs, yet they committed adultery and thronged to the houses of prostitutes.

8. 그들은 살찌고 두루 다니는 수 말 같이 각기 이웃의 아내를 따라 부르짖는도다
  They are well-fed, lusty stallions, each neighing for another man's wife.

9. 나 여호와가 이르노라 내가 어찌 이 일들을 인하여 벌하지 아니하겠으며 내 마음이 이런 나라에 보수하지 않겠느냐
  Should I not punish them for this?" declares the LORD. "Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?

10. 너희는 그 성벽에 올라가 훼파하되 다 훼파하지 말고 그 가지만 꺾어 버리라 여호와의 것이 아님이니라
  "Go through her vineyards and ravage them, but do not destroy them completely. Strip off her branches, for these people do not belong to the LORD.

11. 나 여호와가 말하노라 이스라엘 족속과 유다 족속이 내게 심히 패역하였느니라
  The house of Israel and the house of Judah have been utterly unfaithful to me," declares the LORD.

12. 그들이 여호와를 인정치 아니하며 말하기를 여호와는 계신 것이 아닌즉 재앙이 우리에게 임하지 않을 것이요 우리가 칼과 기근을 보지 아니할 것이며
  They have lied about the LORD; they said, "He will do nothing! No harm will come to us; we will never see sword or famine.

13. 선지자들은 바람이라 말씀이 그들의 속에 있지 아니한즉 그같이 그들이 당하리라 하느니라
  The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them; so let what they say be done to them."

14. 그러므로 만군의 하나님 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 그들이 이 말을 하였은즉 볼찌어다 내가 네 입에 있는 나의 말로 불이 되게하고 이 백성으로 나무가 되게 하리니 그 불이 그들을 사르리라
  Therefore this is what the LORD God Almighty says: "Because the people have spoken these words, I will make my words in your mouth a fire and these people the wood it consumes.

15. 나 여호와가 말하노라 이스라엘 족속아 보라 내가 한 나라를 원방에서 너희에게로 오게 하리니 곧 강하고 오랜 나라이라 그 방언을 네가 알지 못하며 그 말을 네가 깨닫지 못하느니라
  O house of Israel," declares the LORD, "I am bringing a distant nation against you--an ancient and enduring nation, a people whose language you do not know, whose speech you do not understand.

16. 그 전통은 열린 묘실이요 그 사람들은 다 용사라
  Their quivers are like an open grave; all of them are mighty warriors.

17. 그들이 네 자녀들의 먹을 추수 곡물과 양식을 먹으며 네 양 떼와 소 떼를 먹으며 네 포도나무와 무화과나무 열매를 먹으며 네가 의뢰하는 견고한 성들을 칼로 파멸하리라
  They will devour your harvests and food, devour your sons and daughters; they will devour your flocks and herds, devour your vines and fig trees. With the sword they will destroy the fortified cities in which you trust.

18. 나 여호와가 말하노라 그 때에도 내가 너희를 진멸치는 아니하리라
  "Yet even in those days," declares the LORD, "I will not destroy you completely.

19. 그들이 만일 이르기를 우리 하나님 여호와께서 어찌하여 이 모든 일을 우리에게 행하셨느뇨 하거든 너는 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 여호와를 버리고 너희 땅에서 이방 신들을 섬겼은즉 이와 같이 너희 것이 아닌 땅에서 이방인들을 섬기리라 하라
  And when the people ask, 'Why has the LORD our God done all this to us?' you will tell them, 'As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your own land, so now you will serve foreigners in a land not your own.'

20. 너는 이를 야곱 집에 선포하며 유다에 공포하여 이르기를
  "Announce this to the house of Jacob and proclaim it in Judah:

21. 우준하여 지각이 없으며 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 백성이여 이를 들을찌어다
  Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear:

22. 여호와께서 말씀하시되 너희가 나를 두려워 아니하느냐 내 앞에서 떨지 아니하겠느냐 내가 모래를 두어 바다의 계한을 삼되 그것으로 영원한 계한을 삼고 지나치지 못하게 하였으므로 파도가 흉용하나 그것을 이기지 못하며 뛰노나 그것을 넘지 못하느니라
  Should you not fear me?" declares the LORD. "Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it.

23. 그러나 너희 백성은 배반하며 패역하는 마음이 있어서 이미 배반하고 갔으며
  But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they have turned aside and gone away.

24. 또 너희 마음으로 우리에게 이른 비와 늦은 비를 때를 따라 주시며 우리를 위하여 추수 기한을 정하시는 우리 하나님 여호와를 경외하자 말하지도 아니하니
  They do not say to themselves, 'Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.'

25. 너희 허물이 이러한 일들을 물리쳤고 너희 죄가 너희에게 오는 좋은 것을 막았느니라
  Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.

26. 내 백성 너희 중에 악인이 있어서 새 사냥군의 매복함 같이 지키며 덫을 놓아 사람을 잡으며
  "Among my people are wicked men who lie in wait like men who snare birds and like those who set traps to catch men.

27. 조롱에 새들이 가득함같이 너희 집들에 속임이 가득하도다 그러므로 너희가 창대하고 거부가 되어
  Like cages full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; they have become rich and powerful

28. 살찌고 윤택하며 또 행위가 심히 악하여 자기 이익을 얻으려고 송사 곧 고아의 송사를 공정히 하지 아니하며 빈민의 송사를 공평히 판결치 아니하니
  and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not plead the case of the fatherless to win it, they do not defend the rights of the poor.

29. 내가 이 일들을 인하여 벌하지 아니하겠으며 내 마음이 이같은 나라에 보수하지 않겠느냐 여호와의 말이니라
  Should I not punish them for this?" declares the LORD. "Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?

30. 이 땅에 기괴하고 놀라운 일이 있도다
  "A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land:

31. 선지자들은 거짓을 예언하며 제사장들은 자기 권력으로 다스리며 내 백성은 그것을 좋게 여기니 그 결국에는 너희가 어찌 하려느냐
  The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

마태복음 19

1. 예수께서 이 말씀을 마치시고 갈릴리에서 떠나 요단 강 건너 유대 지경에 이르시니
  When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan.

2. 큰 무리가 좇거늘 예수께서 거기서 저희 병을 고치시더라
  Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.

3. 바리새인들이 예수께 나아와 그를 시험하여 가로되 사람이 아무 연고를 물론하고 그 아내를 내어 버리는 것이 옳으니이까
  Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

4. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 사람을 지으신 이가 본래 저희를 남자와 여자로 만드시고
  "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'

5. 말씀하시기를 이러므로 사람이 그 부모를 떠나서 아내에게 합하여 그 둘이 한 몸이 될찌니라하신 것을 읽지 못하였느냐
  and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?

6. 이러한즉 이제 둘이 아니요 한 몸이니 그러므로 하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할찌니라 하시니
  So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

7. 여짜오되 그러하면 어찌하여 모세는 이혼 증서를 주어서 내어 버리라 명하였나이까
  "Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"

8. 예수께서 가라사대 모세가 너희 마음의 완악함을 인하여 아내 내어 버림을 허락하였거니와 본래는 그렇지 아니하니라
  Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.

9. 내가 너희에게 말하노니 누구든지 음행한 연고 외에 아내를 내어 버리고 다른 데 장가드는 자는 간음함이니라
  I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

10. 제자들이 가로되 만일 사람이 아내에게 이같이 할찐대 장가 들지 않는 것이 좋삽나이다
  The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."

11. 예수께서 가라사대 사람마다 이 말을 받지 못하고 오직 타고난 자라야 할찌니라
  Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given.

12. 어미의 태로부터 된 고자도 있고 사람이 만든 고자도 있고 천국을 위하여 스스로 된 고자도있도다 이 말을 받을만한 자는 받을찌어다
  For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."

13. 때에 사람들이 예수의 안수하고 기도하심을 바라고 어린아이들을 데리고 오매 제자들이 꾸짖거늘
  Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

14. 예수께서 가라사대 어린아이들을 용납하고 내게 오는 것을 금하지 말라 천국이 이런 자의 것이니라 하시고
  Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

15. 저희 위에 안수하시고 거기서 떠나시니라
  When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

16. 어떤 사람이 주께 와서 가로되 선생님이여 내가 무슨 선한 일을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까
  Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

17. 예수께서 가라사대 어찌하여 선한 일을 내게 묻느냐 선한 이는 오직 한 분이시니라 네가 생명에 들어가려면 계명들을 지키라
  "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

18. 가로되 어느 계명이오니이까 예수께서 가라사대 살인하지 말라, 간음하지 말라, 도적질하지 말라, 거짓 증거하지 말라,
  "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, "'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

19. 네 부모를 공경하라, 네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라 하신 것이니라
  honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'"

20. 그 청년이 가로되 이 모든 것을 내가 지키었사오니 아직도 무엇이 부족하니이까
  "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"

21. 예수께서 가라사대 네가 온전하고자 할찐대 가서 네 소유를 팔아 가난한 자들을 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 좇으라 하시니
  Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22. 그 청년이 재물이 많으므로 이 말씀을 듣고 근심하며 가니라
  When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23. 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 부자는 천국에 들어가기가 어려우니라
  Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

24. 다시 너희에게 말하노니 약대가 바늘귀로 들어가는 것이 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 쉬우니라 하신대
  Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

25. 제자들이 듣고 심히 놀라 가로되 그런즉 누가 구원을 얻을 수 있으리이까
  When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?"

26. 예수께서 저희를 보시며 가라사대 사람으로는 할 수 없으되 하나님으로서는 다 할 수 있느니라
  Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

27. 이에 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 보소서 우리가 모든 것을 버리고 주를 좇았사오니 그런즉 우리가 무엇을 얻으리이까
  Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?"

28. 예수께서 가라사대 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 세상이 새롭게 되어 인자가 자기 영광의 보좌에 앉을 때에 나를 좇는 너희도 열두 보좌에 앉아 이스라엘 열두 지파를 심판하리라
  Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29. 또 내 이름을 위하여 집이나 형제나 자매나 부모나 자식이나 전토를 버린 자마다 여러 배를 받고 또 영생을 상속하리라
  And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

30. 그러나 먼저 된 자로서 나중 되고 나중 된 자로서 먼저 될 자가 많으니라
  But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
