여호수아 7

1. 이스라엘 자손들이 바친 물건을 인하여 범죄하였으니 이는 유다 지파 세라의 증손 삽디의 손자 갈미의 아들 아간이 바친 물건을 취하였음이라 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손들에게 진노하시니라
  But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the LORD'S anger burned against Israel.

2. 여호수아가 여리고에서 사람을 벧엘 동편 벧아웬 곁에 있는 아이로 보내며 그들에게 일러 가로되 올라가서 그 땅을 정탐하라 하매 그 사람들이 올라가서 아이를 정탐하고
  Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them, "Go up and spy out the region." So the men went up and spied out Ai.

3. 여호수아에게로 돌아와서 그에게 이르되 백성을 다 올라가게 말고 이 삼천 명만 올라가서 아이를 치게 하소서 그들은 소수니 모든 백성을 그리로 보내어 수고롭게 마소서 하므로
  When they returned to Joshua, they said, "Not all the people will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary all the people, for only a few men are there."

4. 백성 중 삼천 명쯤 그리로 올라갔다가 아이 사람 앞에서 도망하니
  So about three thousand men went up; but they were routed by the men of Ai,

5. 아이 사람이 그들의 삼십 륙인쯤 죽이고 성문 앞에서부터 스바림까지 쫓아와서 내려가는 비탈에서 쳤으므로 백성의 마음이 녹아 물 같이 된지라
  who killed about thirty-six of them. They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

6. 여호수아가 옷을 찢고 이스라엘 장로들과 함께 여호와의 궤 앞에서 땅에 엎드려 머리에 티끌을 무릅쓰고 저물도록 있다가
  Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the LORD, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.

7. 여호수아가 가로되 슬프도소이다 주 여호와여 어찌하여 이 백성을 인도하여 요단을 건너게 하시고 우리를 아모리 사람의 손에 붙여 멸망시키려 하셨나이까 우리가 요단 저편을 족하게 여겨 거하였더면 좋을 뻔하였나이다
  And Joshua said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!

8. 주여 이스라엘이 그 대적 앞에서 돌아섰으니 내가 무슨 말을 하오리이까
  O Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies?

9. 가나안 사람과 이 땅 모든 거민이 이를 듣고 우리를 둘러싸고 우리 이름을 세상에서 끊으리니 주의 크신 이름을 위하여 어떻게 하시려나이까
  The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?"

10. 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 일어나라 어찌하여 이렇게 엎드렸느냐
  The LORD said to Joshua, "Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?

11. 이스라엘이 범죄하여 내가 그들에게 명한 나의 언약을 어기었나니 곧 그들이 바친 물건을 취하고 도적하고 사기하여 자기 기구 가운데 두었느니라
  Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.

12. 그러므로 이스라엘 자손들이 자기 대적을 능히 당치 못하고 그 앞에서 돌아섰나니 이는 자기도 바친 것이 됨이라 그 바친 것을 너희 중에서 멸하지 아니하면 내가 다시는 너희와 함께 있지 아니하리라
  That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.

13. 너는 일어나서 백성을 성결케 하여 이르기를 너희는 스스로 성결케 하여 내일을 기다리라 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 말씀에 이스라엘아 너의 중에 바친 물건이 있나니 네가 그 바친 물건을 너의 중에서 제하기 전에는 너의 대적을 당치 못하리라
  "Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.

14. 아침에 너희는 너희 지파대로 가까이 나아오라 여호와께 뽑히는 지파는 그 족속대로 가까이 나아올 것이요 여호와께 뽑히는 족속은 그 가족대로 가까이 나아올 것이요 여호와께 뽑히는 가족은 각 남자대로 가까이 나아올 것이며
  "'In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe that the LORD takes shall come forward clan by clan; the clan that the LORD takes shall come forward family by family; and the family that the LORD takes shall come forward man by man.

15. 바친 물건을 가진 자로 뽑힌 자를 불사르되 그와 그 모든 소유를 그리하라 이는 여호와의 언약을 어기고 이스라엘 가운데서 망령된 일을 행하였음이라 하셨다 하라
  He who is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the LORD and has done a disgraceful thing in Israel!'"

16. 이에 여호수아가 아침 일찌기 일어나서 이스라엘을 그 지파대로 가까이 나아오게 하였더니 유다 지파가 뽑혔고
  Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was taken.

17. 유다 족속을 가까이 나아오게 하였더니 세라 족속이 뽑혔고 세라 족속의 각 남자를 가까이 나아오게 하였더니 삽디가 뽑혔고
  The clans of Judah came forward, and he took the Zerahites. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was taken.

18. 삽디의 가족 각 남자를 가까이 나아오게 하였더니 유다 지파 세라의 증손이요 삽디의 손자요 갈미의 아들인 아간이 뽑혔더라
  Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

19. 여호수아가 아간에게 이르되 내 아들아 청하노라 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 영광을 돌려 그 앞에 자복하고 네 행한 일을 내게 고하라 그 일을 내게 숨기지 말라
  Then Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give him the praise. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me."

20. 아간이 여호수아에게 대답하여 가로되 참으로 나는 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께 범죄하여 여차여차히 행하였나이다
  Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done:

21. 내가 노략한 물건 중에 시날 산의 아름다운 외투 한 벌과 은 이백 세겔과 오십 세겔 중의 금덩이 하나를 보고 탐내어 취하였나이다 보소서 이제 그 물건들을 내 장막 가운데 땅 속에 감추었는데 은은 그 밑에 있나이다
  When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath."

22. 이에 여호수아가 사자를 보내매 그의 장막에 달려가 본즉 물건이 그의 장막 안에 감취었는데 은은 그 밑에 있는지라
  So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath.

23. 그들이 그것을 장막 가운데서 취하여 여호수아와 이스라엘 모든 자손에게로 가져오매 그들이 그것을 여호와 앞에 놓으니라
  They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the LORD.

24. 여호수아가 이스라엘 모든 사람으로 더불어 세라의 아들 아간을 잡고 그 은과 외투와 금덩이와 그 아들들과 딸들과 소들과 나귀들과 양들과 장막과 무릇 그에게 속한 모든 것을 이끌고 아골 골짜기로 가서
  Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold wedge, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.

25. 여호수아가 가로되 네가 어찌하여 우리를 괴롭게 하였느뇨 여호와께서 오늘날 너를 괴롭게 하시리라 하니 온 이스라엘이 그를 돌로 치고 그것들도 돌로 치고 불사르고
  Joshua said, "Why have you brought this trouble on us? The LORD will bring trouble on you today." Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.

26. 그 위에 돌무더기를 크게 쌓았더니 오늘날까지 있더라 여호와께서 그 극렬한 분노를 그치시니 그러므로 그 곳 이름을 오늘날까지 아골 골짜기라 부르더라
  Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the LORD turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since.

시편 137-138

1. 우리가 바벨론의 여러 강변 거기 앉아서 시온을 기억하며 울었도다
  By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.

2. 그 중의 버드나무에 우리가 우리의 수금을 걸었나니
  There on the poplars we hung our harps,

3. 이는 우리를 사로잡은 자가 거기서 우리에게 노래를 청하며 우리를 황폐케 한 자가 기쁨을 청하고 자기들을 위하여 시온 노래 중 하나를 노래하라 함이로다
  for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"

4. 우리가 이방에 있어서 어찌 여호와의 노래를 부를꼬
  How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land?

5. 예루살렘아 내가 너를 잊을찐대 내 오른손이 그 재주를 잊을찌로다
  If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.

6. 내가 예루살렘을 기억지 아니하거나 내가 너를 나의 제일 즐거워하는 것보다 지나치게 아니할찐대 내 혀가 내 입 천장에 붙을찌로다
  May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

7. 여호와여 예루살렘이 해받던 날을 기억하시고 에돔 자손을 치소서 저희 말이 훼파하라 훼파하라 그 기초까지 훼파하라 하였나이다
  Remember, O LORD, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. "Tear it down," they cried, "tear it down to its foundations!"

8. 여자 같은 멸망할 바벨론아 네가 우리에게 행한 대로 네게 갚는 자가 유복하리로다
  O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us--

9. 네 어린것들을 반석에 메어치는 자는 유복하리로다
  he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.

1. 내가 전심으로 주께 감사하며 신들 앞에서 주께 찬양하리이다
  Of David. I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise.

2. 내가 주의 성전을 향하여 경배하며 주의 인자하심과 성실하심을 인하여 주의 이름에 감사하오리니 이는 주께서 주의 말씀을 주의 모든 이름 위에 높게 하셨음이라
  I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

3. 내가 간구하는 날에 주께서 응답하시고 내 영혼을 장려하여 강하게 하셨나이다
  When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.

4. 여호와여 땅의 열왕이 주께 감사할 것은 저희가 주의 입의 말씀을 들음이오며
  May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth.

5. 저희가 여호와의 도를 노래할 것은 여호와의 영광이 크심이니이다
  May they sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great.

6. 여호와께서 높이 계셔도 낮은 자를 하감하시며 멀리서도 교만한 자를 아시나이다
  Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.

7. 내가 환난 중에 다닐찌라도 주께서 나를 소성케 하시고 주의 손을 펴사 내 원수들의 노를 막으시며 주의 오른손이 나를 구원하시리이다
  Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.

8. 여호와께서 내게 관계된 것을 완전케 하실찌라 여호와여 주의 인자하심이 영원하오니 주의 손으로 지으신 것을 버리지 마옵소서
  The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever--do not abandon the works of your hands.

예레미야 1

1. 베냐민 땅 아나돗의 제사장 중 힐기야의 아들 예레미야의 말이라
  The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.

2. 아몬의 아들 유다 왕 요시야의 다스린 지 십삼 년에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하였고
  The word of the LORD came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,

3. 요시야의 아들 유다 왕 여호야김 시대부터 요시야의 아들 유다 왕 시드기야의 제 십일 년 말까지 임하니라 이 해 오월에 예루살렘이 사로 잡히니라
  and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.

4. 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하니라 이르시되
  The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

5. 내가 너를 복중에 짓기 전에 너를 알았고 네가 태에서 나오기 전에 너를 구별하였고 너를 열방의 선지자로 세웠노라 하시기로
  "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

6. 내가 가로되 슬프도소이다 주 여호와여 보소서 나는 아이라 말할 줄을 알지 못하나이다
  "Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child."

7. 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 너는 아이라 하지 말고 내가 너를 누구에게 보내든지 너는 가며 내가 네게 무엇을 명하든지 너는 말할찌니라
  But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

8. 너는 그들을 인하여 두려워 말라 내가 너와 함께 하여 너를 구원하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라 하시고
  Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.

9. 여호와께서 그 손을 내밀어 내 입에 대시며 내게 이르시되 보라 내가 내 말을 네 입에 두었노라
  Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth.

10. 보라 내가 오늘날 너를 열방 만국 위에 세우고 너로 뽑으며 파괴하며 파멸하며 넘어뜨리며 건설하며 심게 하였느니라
  See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."

11. 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하니라 이르시되 예레미야야 네가 무엇을 보느냐 대답하되 내가 살구나무 가지를 보나이다
  The word of the LORD came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?" "I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied.

12. 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 네가 잘 보았도다 이는 내가 내 말을 지켜 그대로 이루려 함이니라
  The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."

13. 여호와의 말씀이 다시 내게 임하니라 이르시되 네가 무엇을 보느냐 대답하되 끓는 가마를 보나이다 그 면이 북에서부터 기울어졌나이다
  The word of the LORD came to me again: "What do you see?" "I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north," I answered.

14. 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 재앙이 북방에서 일어나 이 땅의 모든 거민에게 임하리라
  The LORD said to me, "From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.

15. 나 여호와가 말하노라 내가 북방 모든 나라의 족속을 부를 것인즉 그들이 와서 예루살렘 성문 어귀에 각기 자리를 정하고 그 사면 성벽과 유다 모든 성읍을 치리라
  I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms," declares the LORD. "Their kings will come and set up their thrones in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem; they will come against all her surrounding walls and against all the towns of Judah.

16. 무리가 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 분향하며 자기 손으로 만든 것에 절하였은즉 내가 나의 심판을 베풀어 그들의 모든 죄악을 징계하리라
  I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.

17. 그러므로 너는 네 허리를 동이고 일어나 내가 네게 명한 바를 다 그들에게 고하라 그들을 인하여 두려워 말라 두렵건대 내가 너로 그들 앞에서 두려움을 당하게 할까 하노라
  "Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.

18. 보라 내가 오늘날 너로 그 온 땅과 유다 왕들과 그 족장들과 그 제사장들과 그 땅 백성 앞에 견고한 성읍, 쇠기둥, 놋 성벽이 되게 하였은즉
  Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land--against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.

19. 그들이 너를 치나 이기지 못하리니 이는 내가 너와 함께 하여 너를 구원할 것임이니라 여호와의 말이니라
  They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.

마태복음 15

1. 그 때에 바리새인과 서기관들이 예루살렘으로부터 예수께 나아와 가로되
  Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,

2. 당신의 제자들이 어찌하여 장로들의 유전을 범하나이까 떡 먹을 때에 손을 씻지 아니하나이다
  "Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don't wash their hands before they eat!"

3. 대답하여 가라사대 너희는 어찌하여 너희 유전으로 하나님의 계명을 범하느뇨
  Jesus replied, "And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?

4. 하나님이 이르셨으되 네 부모를 공경하라 하시고 또 아비나 어미를 훼방하는 자는 반드시 죽으리라 하셨거늘
  For God said, 'Honor your father and mother' and 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'

5. 너희는 가로되 누구든지 아비에게나 어미에게 말하기를 내가 드려 유익하게 할 것이 하나님께 드림이 되었다고 하기만 하면
  But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,'

6. 그 부모를 공경할 것이 없다 하여 너희 유전으로 하나님의 말씀을 폐하는도다
  he is not to 'honor his father' with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7. 외식하는 자들아 이사야가 너희에게 대하여 잘 예언하였도다 일렀으되
  You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

8. 이 백성이 입술로는 나를 존경하되 마음은 내게서 멀도다
  "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

9. 사람의 계명으로 교훈을 삼아 가르치니 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다 하였느니라 하시고
  They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'"

10. 무리를 불러 이르시되 듣고 깨달으라
  Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand.

11. 입에 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이 아니라 입에서 나오는 그것이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이니라
  What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'"

12. 이에 제자들이 나아와 가로되 바리새인들이 이 말씀을 듣고 걸림이 된 줄 아시나이까
  Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?"

13. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 심은 것마다 내 천부께서 심으시지 않은 것은 뽑힐 것이니
  He replied, "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots.

14. 그냥 두어라 저희는 소경이 되어 소경을 인도하는 자로다 만일 소경이 소경을 인도하면 둘이 다 구덩이에 빠지리라 하신대
  Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

15. 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 이 비유를 우리에게 설명하여 주옵소서
  Peter said, "Explain the parable to us."

16. 예수께서 가라사대 너희도 아직까지 깨달음이 없느냐
  "Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them.

17. 입으로 들어가는 모든 것은 배로 들어가서 뒤로 내어 버려지는 줄을 알지 못하느냐
  "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?

18. 입에서 나오는 것들은 마음에서 나오나니 이것이야말로 사람을 더럽게 하느니라
  But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.'

19. 마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각과 살인과 간음과 음란과 도적질과 거짓 증거와 훼방이니
  For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

20. 이런 것들이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이요 씻지 않은 손으로 먹는 것은 사람을 더럽게 하지 못하느니라
  These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.'"

21. 예수께서 거기서 나가사 두로와 시돈 지방으로 들어가시니
  Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.

22. 가나안 여자 하나가 그 지경에서 나와서 소리질러 가로되 주 다윗의 자손이여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 내 딸이 흉악히 귀신들렸나이다 하되
  A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession."

23. 예수는 한 말씀도 대답지 아니하시니 제자들이 와서 청하여 말하되 그 여자가 우리 뒤에서 소리를 지르오니 보내소서
  Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us."

24. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 나는 이스라엘 집의 잃어버린 양 외에는 다른 데로 보내심을 받지 아니하였노라 하신대
  He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."

25. 여자가 와서 예수께 절하며 가로되 주여 저를 도우소서
  The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said.

26. 대답하여 가라사대 자녀의 떡을 취하여 개들에게 던짐이 마땅치 아니하니라
  He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

27. 여자가 가로되 주여 옳소이다마는 개들도 제 주인의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기를 먹나이다 하니
  "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."

28. 이에 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 여자야 네 믿음이 크도다 네 소원대로 되리라 하시니 그 시로부터 그의 딸이 나으니라
  Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29. 예수께서 거기서 떠나사 갈릴리 호숫가에 이르러 산에 올라가 거기 앉으시니
  Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down.

30. 큰 무리가 절뚝발이와 불구자와 소경과 벙어리와 기타 여럿을 데리고 와서 예수의 발 앞에 두매 고쳐 주시니
  Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them.

31. 벙어리가 말하고 불구자가 건전하고 절뚝발이가 걸으며 소경이 보는 것을 무리가 보고 기이히 여겨 이스라엘의 하나님께 영광을 돌리니라
  The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.

32. 예수께서 제자들을 불러 가라사대 내가 무리를 불쌍히 여기노라 저희가 나와 함께 있은 지 이미 사흘이매 먹을 것이 없도다 길에서 기진할까 하여 굶겨 보내지 못하겠노라
  Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

33. 제자들이 가로되 광야에 있어 우리가 어디서 이런 무리의 배부를 만큼 떡을 얻으리이까
  His disciples answered, "Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?"

34. 예수께서 가라사대 너희에게 떡이 몇 개나 있느냐 가로되 일곱 개와 작은 생선 두어 마리가 있나이다 하거늘
  "How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they replied, "and a few small fish."

35. 예수께서 무리를 명하사 땅에 앉게 하시고
  He told the crowd to sit down on the ground.

36. 떡 일곱 개와 그 생선을 가지사 축사하시고 떼어 제자들에게 주시니 제자들이 무리에게 주매
  Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.

37. 다 배불리 먹고 남은 조각을 일곱 광주리에 차게 거두었으며
  They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

38. 먹은 자는 여자와 아이 외에 사천 명이었더라
  The number of those who ate was four thousand, besides women and children.

39. 예수께서 무리를 흩어 보내시고 배에 오르사 마가단 지경에 가시니라
  After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.
