여호수아 6:6-27

6. 눈의 아들 여호수아가 제사장들을 불러서 그들에게 이르되 너희는 언약궤를 메고 일곱 제사장은 일곱 양각나팔을 잡고 여호와의 궤 앞에서 행하라 하고
  So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant of the LORD and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it."

7. 또 백성에게 이르되 나아가서 성을 돌되 무장한 자들이 여호와의 궤 앞에 행할찌니라
  And he ordered the people, "Advance! March around the city, with the armed guard going ahead of the ark of the LORD."

8. 여호수아가 백성에게 이르기를 마치매 제사장 일곱이 일곱 양각나팔을 잡고 여호와 앞에서 진행하며 나팔을 불고 여호와의 언약궤는 그 뒤를 따르며
  When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the LORD went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the LORD'S covenant followed them.

9. 무장한 자들은 나팔 부는 제사장들 앞에서 진행하며 후군은 궤 뒤에 행하고 제사장들은 나팔을 불며 행하더라
  The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding.

10. 여호수아가 백성에게 명하여 가로되 너희는 외치지 말며 너희 음성을 들레지 말며 너희 입에서 아무 말도 내지 말라 그리하다가 내가 너희에게 명하여 외치라 하는 날에 외칠찌니라 하고
  But Joshua had commanded the people, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!"

11. 여호와의 궤로 성을 한 번 돌게 하니라 무리가 진에 돌아와서 진에서 자니라
  So he had the ark of the LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then the people returned to camp and spent the night there.

12. 여호수아가 아침에 일찌기 일어나니라 제사장들이 여호와의 궤를 메고
  Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

13. 일곱 제사장은 일곱 양각나팔을 잡고 여호와의 궤 앞에서 계속 진행하며 나팔을 불고 무장한 자들은 그 앞에 행하며 후군은 여호와의 궤 뒤에 행하고 제사장들은 나팔을 불며 행하니라
  The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding.

14. 그 제 이 일에도 성을 한 번 돌고 진에 돌아오니라 엿새 동안을 이같이 행하니라
  So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.

15. 제 칠 일 새벽에 그들이 일찌기 일어나서 여전한 방식으로 성을 일곱 번 도니 성을 일곱 번 돌기는 그 날뿐이었더라
  On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times.

16. 일곱 번째에 제사장들이 나팔을 불 때에 여호수아가 백성에게 이르되 외치라 여호와께서 너희에게 이 성을 주셨느니라
  The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!

17. 이 성과 그 가운데 모든 물건은 여호와께 바치되 기생 라합과 무릇 그 집에 동거하는 자는 살리라 이는 그가 우리의 보낸 사자를 숨겼음이니라
  The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.

18. 너희는 바칠 물건을 스스로 삼가라 너희가 그것을 바친 후에 그 바친 어느 것이든지 취하면 이스라엘 진으로 바침이 되어 화를 당케 할까 두려워하노라
  But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.

19. 은금과 동철 기구들은 다 여호와께 구별될 것이니 그것을 여호와의 곳간에 들일찌니라
  All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the LORD and must go into his treasury."

20. 이에 백성은 외치고 제사장들은 나팔을 불매 백성이 나팔 소리를 듣는 동시에 크게 소리질러 외치니 성벽이 무너져 내린지라 백성이 각기 앞으로 나아가 성에 들어가서 그 성을 취하고
  When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city.

21. 성중에 있는 것을 다 멸하되 남녀 노유와 우양과 나귀를 칼날로 멸하니라
  They devoted the city to the LORD and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it--men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.

22. 여호수아가 그 땅을 정탐한 두 사람에게 이르되 그 기생의 집에 들어가서 너희가 그 여인에게 맹세한 대로 그와 그에게 속한 모든 것을 이끌어 내라 하매
  Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, "Go into the prostitute's house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her."

23. 정탐한 소년들이 들어가서 라합과 그 부모와 그 형제와 그에게 속한 모든 것을 이끌어 내고 또 그 친족도 다 이끌어 내어 그들을 이스라엘 진 밖에 두고
  So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her. They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel.

24. 무리가 불로 성읍과 그 가운데 있는 모든 것을 사르고 은금과 동철 기구는 여호와의 집 곳간에 두었더라
  Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD'S house.

25. 여호수아가 기생 라합과 그 아비의 가족과 그에게 속한 모든 것을 살렸으므로 그가 오늘날까지 이스라엘 중에 거하였으니 이는 여호수아가 여리고를 탐지하려고 보낸 사자를 숨겼음이었더라
  But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho--and she lives among the Israelites to this day.

26. 여호수아가 그 때에 맹세로 무리를 경계하여 가로되 이 여리고 성을 누구든지 일어나서 건축하는 자는 여호와 앞에서 저주를 받을 것이라 그 기초를 쌓을 때에 장자를 잃을 것이요 문을 세울 때에 계자를 잃으리라 하였더라
  At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: "Cursed before the LORD is the man who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: "At the cost of his firstborn son will he lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest will he set up its gates."

27. 여호와께서 여호수아와 함께 하시니 여호수아의 명성이 그 온 땅에 퍼지니라
  So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.

시편 135-136

1. 할렐루야 여호와의 이름을 찬송하라 여호와의 종들아 찬송하라
  Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD,

2. 여호와의 집 우리 하나님의 전 정에 섰는 너희여
  you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.

3. 여호와를 찬송하라 여호와는 선하시며 그 이름이 아름다우니 그 이름을 찬양하라
  Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

4. 여호와께서 자기를 위하여 야곱 곧 이스라엘을 자기의 특별한 소유로 택하셨음이로다
  For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

5. 내가 알거니와 여호와께서는 광대하시며 우리 주는 모든 신보다 높으시도다
  I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.

6. 여호와께서 무릇 기뻐하시는 일을 천지와 바다와 모든 깊은데서 다 행하셨도다
  The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

7. 안개를 땅끝에서 일으키시며 비를 위하여 번개를 만드시며 바람을 그 곳간에서 내시는도다
  He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

8. 저가 애굽의 처음 난 자를 사람부터 짐승까지 치셨도다
  He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals.

9. 애굽이여 여호와께서 너의 중에 징조와 기사를 보내사 바로와 그 모든 신복에게 임하게 하셨도다
  He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.

10. 저가 많은 나라를 치시고 강한 왕들을 죽이셨나니
  He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings--

11. 곧 아모리인의 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥과 가나안의 모든 국왕이로다
  Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan--

12. 저희의 땅을 기업으로 주시되 자기 백성 이스라엘에게 기업으로 주셨도다
  and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.

13. 여호와여 주의 이름이 영원하시니이다 여호와여 주의 기념이 대대에 이르리이다
  Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.

14. 여호와께서 자기 백성을 판단하시며 그 종들을 긍휼히 여기시리로다
  For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

15. 열방의 우상은 은금이요 사람의 수공물이라
  The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

16. 입이 있어도 말하지 못하며 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며
  They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

17. 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하며 그 입에는 아무 기식도 없나니
  they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

18. 그것을 만든 자와 그것을 의지하는 자가 다 그것과 같으리로다
  Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

19. 이스라엘 족속아 여호와를 송축하라 아론의 족속아 여호와를 송축하라
  O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD;

20. 레위 족속아 여호와를 송축하라 여호와를 경외하는 너희들아 여호와를 송축하라
  O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD.

21. 예루살렘에 거하신 여호와는 시온에서 찬송을 받으실찌어다 할렐루야
  Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.

1. 여호와께 감사하라 그는 선하시며 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.

2. 모든 신에 뛰어나신 하나님께 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.

3. 모든 주에 뛰어나신 주께 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.

4. 홀로 큰 기사를 행하시는 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  to him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever.

5. 지혜로 하늘을 지으신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  who by his understanding made the heavens, His love endures forever.

6. 땅을 물 위에 펴신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  who spread out the earth upon the waters, His love endures forever.

7. 큰 빛들을 지으신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  who made the great lights--His love endures forever.

8. 해로 낮을 주관케 하신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  the sun to govern the day, His love endures forever.

9. 달과 별들로 밤을 주관케 하신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  the moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever.

10. 애굽의 장자를 치신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt His love endures forever.

11. 이스라엘을 저희 중에서 인도하여 내신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  and brought Israel out from among them His love endures forever.

12. 강한 손과 펴신 팔로 인도하여 내신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever.

13. 홍해를 가르신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  to him who divided the Red Sea asunder His love endures forever.

14. 이스라엘로 그 가운데로 통과케 하신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  and brought Israel through the midst of it, His love endures forever.

15. 바로와 그 군대를 홍해에 엎드러뜨리신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea; His love endures forever.

16. 그 백성을 인도하여 광야로 통과케 하신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  to him who led his people through the desert, His love endures forever.

17. 큰 왕들을 치신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  who struck down great kings, His love endures forever.

18. 유명한 왕들을 죽이신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  and killed mighty kings--His love endures forever.

  to the One who remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever.

24. 우리를 우리 대적에게서 건지신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  and freed us from our enemies, His love endures forever.

25. 모든 육체에게 식물을 주신 이에게 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  and who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.

26. 하늘의 하나님께 감사하라 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다
  Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.

이사야 66

1. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 하늘은 나의 보좌요 땅은 나의 발등상이니 너희가 나를 위하여 무슨 집을 지을꼬 나의 안식할 처소가 어디랴
  This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

2. 나 여호와가 말하노라 나의 손이 이 모든 것을 지어서 다 이루었느니라 무릇 마음이 가난하고 심령에 통회하며 나의 말을 인하여 떠는 자 그 사람은 내가 권고하려니와
  Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

3. 소를 잡아 드리는 것은 살인함과 다름이 없고 어린 양으로 제사드리는 것은 개의 목을 꺾음과 다름이 없으며 드리는 예물은 돼지의 피와 다름이 없고 분향하는 것은 우상을 찬송함과 다름이 없이 하는 그들은 자기의 길을 택하며 그들의 마음은 가증한 것을 기뻐한즉
  But whoever sacrifices a bull is like one who kills a man, and whoever offers a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck; whoever makes a grain offering is like one who presents pig's blood, and whoever burns memorial incense, like one who worships an idol. They have chosen their own ways, and their souls delight in their abominations;

4. 나도 유혹을 그들에게 택하여 주며 그 무서워하는 것을 그들에게 임하게 하리니 이는 내가 불러도 대답하는 자 없으며 내가 말하여도 그들이 청종하지 않고 오직 나의 목전에 악을 행하며 나의 기뻐하지 아니하는 것을 택하였음이니라 하시니라
  so I also will choose harsh treatment for them and will bring upon them what they dread. For when I called, no one answered, when I spoke, no one listened. They did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

5. 여호와의 말씀을 인하여 떠는 자들아 그 말씀을 들을지어다 이르시되 너희 형제가 너희를 미워하며 내 이름을 인하여 너희를 쫓아내며 이르기를 여호와께서는 영광을 나타내사 너희 기쁨을 우리에게 보이시기를 원하노라 하였으나 그들은 수치를 당하리라 하셨느니라
  Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word: "Your brothers who hate you, and exclude you because of my name, have said, 'Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy!' Yet they will be put to shame.

6. 훤화하는 소리가 성읍에서부터 오며 목소리가 성전에서부터 들리니 이는 여호와께서 그 대적에게 보응하시는 목소리로다
  Hear that uproar from the city, hear that noise from the temple! It is the sound of the LORD repaying his enemies all they deserve.

7. 시온은 구로하기 전에 생산하며 고통을 당하기 전에 남자를 낳았으니
  "Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son.

8. 이러한 일을 들은 자가 누구이며 이러한 일을 본 자가 누구이뇨 나라가 어찌 하루에 생기겠으며 민족이 어찌 순식간에 나겠느냐 그러나 시온은 구로하는 즉시에 그 자민을 순산하였도다
  Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.

9. 여호와께서 가라사대 내가 임산케 하였은즉 해산케 아니하겠느냐 네 하나님이 가라사대 나는 해산케 하는 자인즉 어찌 태를 닫겠느냐 하시니라
  Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?" says the LORD. "Do I close up the womb when I bring to delivery?" says your God.

10. 예루살렘을 사랑하는 자여 다 그와 함께 기뻐하라 다 그와 함께 즐거워하라 그를 위하여 슬퍼하는 자여 다 그의 기쁨을 인하여 그와 함께 기뻐하라
  "Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her.

11. 너희가 젖을 빠는 것같이 그 위로하는 품에서 만족하겠고 젖을 넉넉히 빤 것같이 그 영광의 풍성함을 인하여 즐거워하리라
  For you will nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing abundance."

12. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 그에게 평강을 강같이, 그에게 열방의 영광을 넘치는 시내같이 주리니 너희가 그 젖을 빨 것이며 너희가 옆에 안기며 그 무릎에서 놀 것이라
  For this is what the LORD says: "I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees.

13. 어미가 자식을 위로함같이 내가 너희를 위로할 것인즉 너희가 예루살렘에서 위로를 받으리니
  As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."

14. 너희가 이를 보고 마음이 기뻐서 너희 뼈가 연한 풀의 무성함 같으리라 여호와의 손은 그 종들에게 나타나겠고 그의 진노는 그 원수에게 더하리라
  When you see this, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like grass; the hand of the LORD will be made known to his servants, but his fury will be shown to his foes.

15. 보라 여호와께서 불에 옹위되어 강림하시리니 그 수레들은 회리바람 같으리로다 그가 혁혁한 위세로 노를 베푸시며 맹렬한 화염으로 견책하실 것이라
  See, the LORD is coming with fire, and his chariots are like a whirlwind; he will bring down his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16. 여호와께서 불과 칼로 모든 혈육에게 심판을 베푸신즉 여호와께 살륙당할 자가 많으리니
  For with fire and with his sword the LORD will execute judgment upon all men, and many will be those slain by the LORD.

17. 스스로 거룩히 구별하며 스스로 정결케 하고 동산에 들어가서 그 가운데 있는 자를 따라 돼지 고기와 가증한 물건과 쥐를 먹는 자가 다 함께 망하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
  "Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following the one in the midst of those who eat the flesh of pigs and rats and other abominable things--they will meet their end together," declares the LORD.

18. 내가 그들의 소위와 사상을 아노라 때가 이르면 열방과 열족을 모으리니 그들이 와서 나의 영광을 볼 것이며
  "And I, because of their actions and their imaginations, am about to come and gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see my glory.

19. 내가 그들 중에 징조를 세워서 그들 중 도피한 자를 열방 곧 다시스와 뿔과 활을 당기는 룻과 및 두발과 야완과 또 나의 명성을 듣지도 못하고 나의 영광을 보지도 못한 먼 섬들로 보내리니 그들이 나의 영광을 열방에 선파하리라
  "I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those who survive to the nations--to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians (famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory among the nations.

20. 나 여호와가 말하노라 이스라엘 자손이 예물을 깨끗한 그릇에 담아 여호와의 집에 드림같이 그들이 너희 모든 형제를 열방에서 나의 성산 예루살렘으로 말과 수레와 교자와 노새와 약대에 태워다가 여호와께 예물로 드릴 것이요
  And they will bring all your brothers, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the LORD--on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels," says the LORD. "They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the LORD in ceremonially clean vessels.

21. 나는 그 중에서 택하여 제사장과 레위인을 삼으리라 여호와의 말이니라
  And I will select some of them also to be priests and Levites," says the LORD.

22. 나 여호와가 말하노라 나의 지을 새 하늘과 새 땅이 내 앞에 항상 있을 것같이 너희 자손과 너희 이름이 항상 있으리라
  "As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me," declares the LORD, "so will your name and descendants endure.

23. 여호와가 말하노라 매월삭과 매안식일에 모든 혈육이 이르러 내 앞에 경배하리라
  From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me," says the LORD.

24. 그들이 나가서 내게 패역한 자들의 시체들을 볼 것이라 그 벌레가 죽지 아니하며 그 불이 꺼지지 아니하여 모든 혈육에게 가증함이 되리라
  "And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind."

마태복음 14

1. 그 때에 분봉왕 헤롯이 예수의 소문을 듣고
  At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus,

2. 그 신하들에게 이르되 이는 세례 요한이라 저가 죽은 자 가운데서 살아났으니 그러므로 이런 권능이 그 속에서 운동하는도다 하더라
  and he said to his attendants, "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him."

3. 전에 헤롯이 그 동생 빌립의 아내 헤로디아의 일로 요한을 잡아 결박하여 옥에 가두었으니
  Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife,

4. 이는 요한이 헤롯에게 말하되 당신이 그 여자를 취한 것이 옳지 않다 하였음이라
  for John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to have her."

5. 헤롯이 요한을 죽이려 하되 민중이 저를 선지자로 여기므로 민중을 두려워하더니
  Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered him a prophet.

6. 마침 헤롯의 생일을 당하여 헤로디아의 딸이 연석 가운데서 춤을 추어 헤롯을 기쁘게 하니
  On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for them and pleased Herod so much

7. 헤롯이 맹세로 그에게 무엇이든지 달라는 대로 주겠다 허락하거늘
  that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.

8. 그가 제 어미의 시킴을 듣고 가로되 세례 요한의 머리를 소반에 담아 여기서 내게 주소서 하니
  Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."

9. 왕이 근심하나 자기의 맹세한 것과 그 함께 앉은 사람들을 인하여 주라 명하고
  The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted

10. 사람을 보내어 요한을 옥에서 목 베어
  and had John beheaded in the prison.

11. 그 머리를 소반에 담아다가 그 여아에게 주니 그가 제 어미에게 가져가니라
  His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

12. 요한의 제자들이 와서 시체를 가져다가 장사하고 가서 예수께 고하니라
  John's disciples came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.

13. 예수께서 들으시고 배를 타고 떠나사 따로 빈들에 가시니 무리가 듣고 여러 고을로부터 걸어서 좇아간지라
  When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.

14. 예수께서 나오사 큰 무리를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 그 중에 있는 병인을 고쳐 주시니라
  When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15. 저녁이 되매 제자들이 나아와 가로되 이 곳은 빈들이요 때도 이미 저물었으니 무리를 보내어 마을에 들어가 먹을 것을 사 먹게 하소서
  As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."

16. 예수께서 가라사대 갈 것 없다 너희가 먹을 것을 주어라
  Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."

17. 제자들이 가로되 여기 우리에게 있는 것은 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리뿐이니이다
  "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered.

18. 가라사대 그것을 내게 가져오라 하시고
  "Bring them here to me," he said.

19. 무리를 명하여 잔디 위에 앉히시고 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지사 하늘을 우러러 축사하시고 떡을 떼어 제자들에게 주시매 제자들이 무리에게 주니
  And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20. 다 배불리 먹고 남은 조각을 열 두 바구니에 차게 거두었으며
  They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21. 먹은 사람은 여자와 아이 외에 오천 명이나 되었더라
  The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

22. 예수께서 즉시 제자들을 재촉하사 자기가 무리를 보내는 동안에 배를 타고 앞서 건너편으로 가게 하시고
  Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.

23. 무리를 보내신 후에 기도하러 따로 산에 올라가시다 저물매 거기 혼자 계시더니
  After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,

24. 배가 이미 육지에서 수리나 떠나서 바람이 거슬리므로 물결을 인하여 고난을 당하더라
  but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25. 밤 사경에 예수께서 바다 위로 걸어서 제자들에게 오시니
  During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.

26. 제자들이 그 바다 위로 걸어오심을 보고 놀라 유령이라 하며 무서워하여 소리지르거늘
  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.

27. 예수께서 즉시 일러 가라사대 안심하라 내니 두려워 말라
  But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

28. 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 주여 만일 주시어든 나를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하소서 한대
  "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

29. 오라 하시니 베드로가 배에서 내려 물 위로 걸어서 예수께로 가되
  "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

30. 바람을 보고 무서워 빠져 가는지라 소리질러 가로되 주여 나를 구원하소서 하니
  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

31. 예수께서 즉시 손을 내밀어 저를 붙잡으시며 가라사대 믿음이 적은 자여 왜 의심하였느냐 하시고
  Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

32. 배에 함께 오르매 바람이 그치는지라
  And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.

33. 배에 있는 사람들이 예수께 절하며 가로되 진실로 하나님의 아들이로소이다 하더라
  Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

34. 저희가 건너가 게네사렛 땅에 이르니
  When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.

35. 그 곳 사람들이 예수신 줄을 알고 그 근방에 두루 통지하여 모든 병든 자를 예수께 데리고 와서
  And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him

36. 다만 예수의 옷가에라도 손을 대게 하시기를 간구하니 손을 대는 자는 다 나음을 얻으니라
  and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
