신명기 31

1. 모세가 가서 온 이스라엘에게 이 말씀을 베푸니라
  Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel:

2. 곧 그들에게 이르되 내가 오늘날 일백이십 세라 내가 더는 출입하기 능치 못하고 여호와께서도 내게 이르시기를 너는 이 요단을 건너지 못하리라 하셨느니라
  "I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you. The LORD has said to me, 'You shall not cross the Jordan.'

3. 여호와께서 이미 말씀하신 것과 같이 여호수아가 너를 거느리고 건널 것이요 네 하나님 여호와 그가 네 앞서 건너가사 이 민족들을 네 앞에서 멸하시고 너로 그 땅을 얻게 하실 것이며
  The LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the LORD said.

4. 여호와께서 이미 멸하신 아모리 왕 시혼과 옥과 및 그 땅에 행하신 것과 같이 그들에게도 행하실 것이라
  And the LORD will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land.

5. 여호와께서 그들을 너희 앞에 붙이시리니 너희는 내가 너희에게 명한 모든 명령대로 그들에게 행할 것이라
  The LORD will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you.

6. 너는 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 그들을 두려워 말라 그들 앞에서 떨지 말라 이는 네 하나님 여호와 그가 너와 함께 행하실 것임이라 반드시 너를 떠나지 아니하시며 버리지 아니하시리라 하고
  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

7. 모세가 여호수아를 불러 온 이스라엘 목전에서 그에게 이르되 너는 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 너는 이 백성을 거느리고 여호와께서 그들의 열조에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에 들어가서 그들로 그 땅을 얻게 하라
  Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the LORD swore to their forefathers to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.

8. 여호와 그가 네 앞서 행하시며 너와 함께 하사 너를 떠나지 아니하시며 버리지 아니하시리니 너는 두려워 말라 놀라지 말라
  The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

9. 모세가 이 율법을 써서 여호와의 언약궤를 메는 레위 자손 제사장들과 이스라엘 모든 장로에게 주고
  So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel.

10. 그들에게 명하여 이르기를 매칠년 끝 해 곧 정기 면제년의 초막절에
  Then Moses commanded them: "At the end of every seven years, in the year for canceling debts, during the Feast of Tabernacles,

11. 온 이스라엘이 네 하나님 여호와 앞 그 택하신 곳에 모일 때에 이 율법을 낭독하여 온 이스라엘로 듣게 할찌니
  when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing.

12. 곧 백성의 남녀와 유치와 네 성 안에 우거하는 타국인을 모으고 그들로 듣고 배우고 네 하나님 여호와를 경외하며 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 지켜 행하게 하고
  Assemble the people--men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns--so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.

13. 또 너희가 요단을 건너가서 얻을 땅에 거할 동안에 이 말씀을 알지 못하는 그들의 자녀로 듣고 네 하나님 여호와 경외하기를 배우게 할찌니라
  Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess."

14. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너의 죽을 기한이 가까왔으니 여호수아를 불러서 함께 회막으로 나아오라 내가 그에게 명을 내리리라 모세와 여호수아가 나아가서 회막에 서니
  The LORD said to Moses, "Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, where I will commission him." So Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.

15. 여호와께서 구름 기둥 가운데서 장막에 나타나시고 구름 기둥은 장막문 위에 머물렀더라
  Then the LORD appeared at the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the Tent.

16. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 너의 열조와 함께 자려니와 이 백성은 들어가 거할 그 땅에서 일어나서 이방 신들을 음란히 좇아 나를 버리며 내가 그들과 세운 언약을 어길 것이라
  And the LORD said to Moses: "You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.

17. 그 때에 내가 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 버리며 내 얼굴을 숨겨 그들에게 보이지 않게 할 것인즉 그들이 삼킴을 당하여 허다한 재앙과 환난이 그들에게 임할 그 때에 그들이 말하기를 이 재앙이 우리에게 임함은 우리 하나님이 우리 중에 계시지 않은 까닭이 아니뇨 할 것이라
  On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?'

18. 그들이 돌이켜 다른 신을 좇는 모든 악행을 인하여 내가 그 때에 반드시 내 얼굴을 숨기리라
  And I will certainly hide my face on that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.

19. 그러므로 이제 너희는 이 노래를 써서 이스라엘 자손에게 가르쳐서 그 입으로 부르게 하여 이 노래로 나를 위하여 이스라엘 자손에게 증거가 되게 하라
  "Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.

20. 내가 그들의 열조에게 맹세한 바 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들인 후에 그들이 먹어 배부르고 살찌면 돌이켜 다른 신들을 섬기며 나를 멸시하여 내 언약을 어기리니
  When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their forefathers, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.

21. 그들이 재앙과 환난을 당할 때에 그들의 자손이 부르기를 잊지 아니한 이 노래가 그들 앞에 증인처럼 되리라 나는 내가 맹세한 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들이기 전 오늘날에 나는 그들의 상상하는 바를 아노라
  And when many disasters and difficulties come upon them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath."

22. 모세가 당일에 이 노래를 써서 이스라엘 자손에게 가르쳤더라
  So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.

23. 여호와께서 또 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 명하여 가라사대 너는 이스라엘 자손을 인도하여 내가 그들에게 맹세한 땅으로 들어가게 하리니 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 내가 너와 함께 하리라
  The LORD gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: "Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you."

24. 모세가 이 율법의 말씀을 다 책에 써서 마친 후에
  After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end,

25. 여호와의 언약궤를 메는 레위 사람에게 명하여 가로되
  he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD:

26. 이 율법책을 가져다가 너희 하나님 여호와의 언약궤 곁에 두어 너희에게 증거가 되게 하라
  "Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. There it will remain as a witness against you.

27. 내가 너희의 패역함과 목이 곧은 것을 아나니 오늘날 내가 생존하여 너희와 함께 하여도 너희가 여호와를 거역하였거든 하물며 내가 죽은 후의 일이랴
  For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die!

28. 너희 지파 모든 장로와 유사들을 내 앞에 모으라 내가 이 말씀을 그들의 귀에 들리고 그들에게 천지로 증거를 삼으리라
  Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials, so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to testify against them.

29. 내가 알거니와 내가 죽은 후에 너희가 스스로 부패하여 내가 너희에게 명한 길을 떠나서 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하여 너희의 손으로 하는 일로 그를 격노케 하므로 너희가 말세에 재앙을 당하리라 하니라
  For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall upon you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made."

30. 모세가 이스라엘 총회에게 이 노래의 말씀을 끝까지 읽어 들리니라
  And Moses recited the words of this song from beginning to end in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel:

시편 119:97-120

97. 내가 주의 법을 어찌 그리 사랑하는지요 내가 그것을 종일 묵상하나이다
  Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.

98. 주의 계명이 항상 나와 함께 하므로 그것이 나로 원수보다 지혜롭게 하나이다
  Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me.

99. 내가 주의 증거를 묵상하므로 나의 명철함이 나의 모든 스승보다 승하며
  I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.

100. 주의 법도를 지키므로 나의 명철함이 노인보다 승하니이다
  I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

101. 내가 주의 말씀을 지키려고 발을 금하여 모든 악한 길로 가지 아니하였사오며
  I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.

102. 주께서 나를 가르치셨으므로 내가 주의 규례에서 떠나지 아니하였나이다
  I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me.

103. 주의 말씀의 맛이 내게 어찌 그리 단지요 내 입에 꿀보다 더하니이다
  How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104. 주의 법도로 인하여 내가 명철케 되었으므로 모든 거짓 행위를 미워하나이다
  I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.

105. 주의 말씀은 내 발에 등이요 내 길에 빛이니이다
  Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

106. 주의 의로운 규례를 지키기로 맹세하고 굳게 정하였나이다
  I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.

107. 나의 고난이 막심하오니 여호와여 주의 말씀대로 나를 소성케 하소서
  I have suffered much; preserve my life, O LORD, according to your word.

108. 여호와여 구하오니 내 입의 낙헌제를 받으시고 주의 규례로 나를 가르치소서
  Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws.

109. 나의 생명이 항상 위경에 있사오나 주의 법은 잊지 아니하나이다
  Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law.

110. 악인이 나를 해하려고 올무를 놓았사오나 나는 주의 법도에서 떠나지 아니하였나이다
  The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts.

111. 주의 증거로 내가 영원히 기업을 삼았사오니 이는 내 마음의 즐거움이 됨이니이다
  Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.

112. 내가 주의 율례를 길이 끝까지 행하려고 내 마음을 기울였나이다
  My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.

113. 내가 두 마음 품는 자를 미워하고 주의 법을 사랑하나이다
  I hate double-minded men, but I love your law.

114. 주는 나의 은신처요 방패시라 내가 주의 말씀을 바라나이다
  You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.

115. 너희 행악자여 나를 떠날찌어다 나는 내 하나님의 계명을 지키리로다
  Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God!

116. 주의 말씀대로 나를 붙들어 살게 하시고 내 소망이 부끄럽지 말게 하소서
  Sustain me according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.

117. 나를 붙드소서 그리하시면 내가 구원을 얻고 주의 율례에 항상 주의하리이다
  Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees.

118. 주의 율례에서 떠나는 자는 주께서 다 멸시하셨으니 저희 궤사는 허무함이니이다
  You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their deceitfulness is in vain.

119. 주께서 세상의 모든 악인을 찌끼같이 버리시니 그러므로 내가 주의 증거를 사랑하나이다
  All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes.

120. 내 육체가 주를 두려워함으로 떨며 내가 또 주의 판단을 두려워하나이다
  My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 58

1. 크게 외치라 아끼지 말라 네 목소리를 나팔 같이 날려 내 백성에게 그 허물을, 야곱 집에 그 죄를 고하라
  "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2. 그들이 날마다 나를 찾아 나의 길 알기를 즐거워함이 마치 의를 행하여 그 하나님의 규례를 폐하지 아니하는 나라 같아서 의로운 판단을 내게 구하며 하나님과 가까이 하기를 즐겨하며
  For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.

3. 이르기를 우리가 금식하되 주께서 보지 아니하심은 어찜이오며 우리가 마음을 괴롭게 하되 주께서 알아 주지 아니하심은 어찜이니이까 하느니라 보라 너희가 금식하는 날에 오락을 찾아 얻으며 온갖 일을 시키는도다
  'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?' "Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.

4. 보라 너희가 금식하면서 다투며 싸우며 악한 주먹으로 치는도다 너희의 오늘 금식하는 것은 너희 목소리로 상달케 하려 하는 것이 아니라
  Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.

5. 이것이 어찌 나의 기뻐하는 금식이 되겠으며 이것이 어찌 사람이 그 마음을 괴롭게 하는 날이 되겠느냐 그 머리를 갈대같이 숙이고 굵은 베와 재를 펴는 것을 어찌 금식이라 하겠으며 여호와께 열납될 날이라 하겠느냐
  Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD?

6. 나의 기뻐하는 금식은 흉악의 결박을 풀어 주며 멍에의 줄을 끌러 주며 압제당하는 자를 자유케 하며 모든 멍에를 꺾는 것이 아니겠느냐
  "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

7. 또 주린 자에게 네 식물을 나눠 주며 유리하는 빈민을 네 집에 들이며 벗은 자를 보면 입히며 또 네 골육을 피하여 스스로 숨지 아니하는 것이 아니겠느냐
  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8. 그리하면 네 빛이 아침같이 비췰 것이며 네 치료가 급속할 것이며 네 의가 네 앞에 행하고 여호와의 영광이 네 뒤에 호위하리니
  Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

9. 네가 부를 때에는 나 여호와가 응답하겠고 네가 부르짖을 때에는 말하기를 내가 여기 있다 하리라 만일 네가 너희 중에서 멍에와 손가락질과 허망한 말을 제하여 버리고
  Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

10. 주린 자에게 네 심정을 동하며 괴로와하는 자의 마음을 만족케 하면 네 빛이 흑암 중에서 발하여 네 어두움이 낮과 같이 될 것이며
  and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

11. 나 여호와가 너를 항상 인도하여 마른 곳에서도 네 영혼을 만족케 하며 네 뼈를 견고케 하리니 너는 물 댄 동산 같겠고 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘 같을 것이라
  The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

12. 네게서 날 자들이 오래 황폐된 곳들을 다시 세울 것이며 너는 역대의 파괴된 기초를 쌓으리니 너를 일컬어 무너진 데를 수보하는 자라 할 것이며 길을 수축하여 거할 곳이 되게 하는 자라 하리라
  Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

13. 만일 안식일에 네 발을 금하여 내 성일에 오락을 행치 아니하고 안식일을 일컬어 즐거운 날이라, 여호와의 성일을 존귀한 날이라 하여 이를 존귀히 여기고 네 길로 행치 아니하며 네 오락을 구치 아니하며 사사로운 말을 하지 아니하면
  "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD'S holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

14. 네가 여호와의 안에서 즐거움을 얻을 것이라 내가 너를 땅의 높은 곳에 올리고 네 조상 야곱의 업으로 기르리라 여호와의 입의 말이니라
  then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the LORD has spoken.

마태복음 6

1. 사람에게 보이려고 그들 앞에서 너희 의를 행치 않도록 주의하라 그렇지 아니하면 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 상을 얻지 못하느니라
  "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2. 그러므로 구제할 때에 외식하는 자가 사람에게 영광을 얻으려고 회당과 거리에서 하는 것같이 너희 앞에 나팔을 불지 말라 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 저희는 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
  "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

3. 너는 구제할 때에 오른손의 하는 것을 왼손이 모르게 하여
  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4. 네 구제함이 은밀하게 하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 너의 아버지가 갚으시리라
  so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

5. 또 너희가 기도할 때에 외식하는 자와 같이 되지 말라 저희는 사람에게 보이려고 회당과 큰 거리 어귀에 서서 기도하기를 좋아하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 저희는 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
  "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

6. 너는 기도할 때에 네 골방에 들어가 문을 닫고 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 기도하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라
  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

7. 또 기도할 때에 이방인과 같이 중언 부언하지 말라 저희는 말을 많이 하여야 들으실 줄 생각하느니라
  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

8. 그러므로 저희를 본받지 말라 구하기 전에 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 하나님 너희 아버지께서 아시느니라
  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9. 그러므로 너희는 이렇게 기도하라 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지여 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받으시오며
  "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

10. 나라이 임하옵시며 뜻이 하늘에서 이룬 것같이 땅에서도 이루어지이다
  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

11. 오늘날 우리에게 일용할 양식을 주옵시고
  Give us today our daily bread.

12. 우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 자를 사하여 준 것같이 우리 죄를 사하여 주옵시고
  Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13. 우리를 시험에 들게 하지 마옵시고 다만 악에서 구하옵소서 (나라와 권세와 영광이 아버지께 영원히 있사옵나이다 아멘)
  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'

14. 너희가 사람의 과실을 용서하면 너희 천부께서도 너희 과실을 용서하시려니와
  For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15. 너희가 사람의 과실을 용서하지 아니하면 너희 아버지께서도 너희 과실을 용서하지 아니하시리라
  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

16. 금식할 때에 너희는 외식하는 자들과 같이 슬픈 기색을 내지 말라 저희는 금식하는 것을 사람에게 보이려고 얼굴을 흉하게 하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 저희는 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
  "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

17. 너는 금식할 때에 머리에 기름을 바르고 얼굴을 씻으라
  But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,

18. 이는 금식하는 자로 사람에게 보이지 않고 오직 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 보이게 하려 함이라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라
  so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

19. 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫고 도적질하느니라
  "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20. 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 거기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도적이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도적질도 못하느니라
  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21. 네 보물 있는 그 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라
  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22. 눈은 몸의 등불이니 그러므로 네 눈이 성하면 온 몸이 밝을 것이요
  "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.

23. 눈이 나쁘면 온 몸이 어두울 것이니 그러므로 네게 있는 빛이 어두우면 그 어두움이 얼마나 하겠느뇨
  But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24. 한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니 혹 이를 미워하며 저를 사랑하거나 혹 이를 중히 여기며 저를 경히 여김이라 너희가 하나님과 재물을 겸하여 섬기지 못하느니라
  "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

25. 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라 목숨이 음식보다 중하지 아니하며 몸이 의복보다 중하지 아니하냐
  "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

26. 공중의 새를 보라 심지도 않고 거두지도 않고 창고에 모아 들이지도 아니하되 너희 천부께서 기르시나니 너희는 이것들보다 귀하지 아니하냐
  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

27. 너희 중에 누가 염려함으로 그 키를 한 자나 더할 수 있느냐
  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28. 또 너희가 어찌 의복을 위하여 염려하느냐 들의 백합화가 어떻게 자라는가 생각하여 보라 수고도 아니하고 길쌈도 아니하느니라
  "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

29. 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니 솔로몬의 모든 영광으로도 입은 것이 이 꽃 하나만 같지 못하였느니라
  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

30. 오늘 있다가 내일 아궁이에 던지우는 들풀도 하나님이 이렇게 입히시거든 하물며 너희일까보냐 믿음이 적은 자들아
  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31. 그러므로 염려하여 이르기를 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 무엇을 입을까 하지 말라
  So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

32. 이는 다 이방인들이 구하는 것이라 너희 천부께서 이 모든 것이 너희에게 있어야 할 줄을 아시느니라
  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

33. 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라
  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34. 그러므로 내일 일을 위하여 염려하지 말라 내일 일은 내일 염려할 것이요 한 날 괴로움은 그 날에 족하니라
  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
