신명기 29

1. 호렙에서 이스라엘 자손과 세우신 언약 외에 여호와께서 모세에게 명하사 모압 땅에서 또 그들과 세우신 언약의 말씀이 이러하니라
  These are the terms of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.

2. 모세가 온 이스라엘을 소집하고 그들에게 이르되 여호와께서 애굽 땅에서 너희 목전에 바로와 그 모든 신하와 그 온 땅에 행하신 모든 일을 너희가 보았나니
  Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.

3. 곧 그 큰 시험과 이적과 큰 기사를 네가 목도하였느니라
  With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders.

4. 그러나 깨닫는 마음과 보는 눈과 듣는 귀는 오늘날까지 여호와께서 너희에게 주지 아니하셨느니라
  But to this day the LORD has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

5. 주께서 사십 년 동안 너희를 인도하여 광야를 통행케 하셨거니와 너희 몸의 옷이 낡지 아니하였고 너희 발의 신이 해어지지 아니하였으며
  During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.

6. 너희로 떡도 먹지 못하며 포도주나 독주를 마시지 못하게 하셨음은 주는 너희 하나님 여호와이신 줄을 알게 하려 하심이니라
  You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the LORD your God.

7. 너희가 이 곳에 올 때에 헤스본 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥이 우리와 싸우러 나왔으므로 우리가 그들을 치고
  When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them.

8. 그 땅을 취하여 르우벤과 갓과 므낫세 반 지파에게 기업으로 주었나니
  We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

9. 그런즉 너희는 이 언약의 말씀을 지켜 행하라 그리하면 너희의 하는 모든 일이 형통하리라
  Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.

10. 오늘날 너희 곧 너희 두령과 너희 지파와 너희 장로들과 너희 유사와 이스라엘 모든 남자와
  All of you are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God--your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel,

11. 너희 유아들과 너희 아내와 및 네 진중에 있는 객과 무릇 너를 위하여 나무를 패는 자로부터 물 긷는 자까지 다 너희 하나님 여호와 앞에 선 것은
  together with your children and your wives, and the aliens living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water.

12. 너의 하나님 여호와의 언약에 참예하며 또 너의 하나님 여호와께서 오늘날 네게 향하여 하시는 맹세에 참예하여
  You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath,

13. 여호와께서 이왕에 네게 말씀하신 대로 또 네 열조 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 대로 오늘날 너를 세워 자기 백성을 삼으시고 자기는 친히 네 하나님이 되시려 함이니라
  to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

14. 내가 이 언약과 맹세를 너희에게만 세우는 것이 아니라
  I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you

15. 오늘날 우리 하나님 여호와 앞에서 우리와 함께 여기 선 자와 오늘날 우리와 함께 여기 있지 아니한 자에게까지니
  who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with those who are not here today.

16. (우리가 애굽 땅에 어떻게 거하였었는지, 너희가 여러 나라를 어떻게 통과하여 왔었는지 너희가 알며
  You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the countries on the way here.

17. 너희가 또 그들 중에 있는 가증한 것과 목석과 은금의 우상을 보았느니라)
  You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold.

18. 너희 중에 남자나 여자나 가족이나 지파나 오늘날 그 마음이 우리 하나님 여호와를 떠나서 그 모든 민족의 신들에게 가서 섬길까 염려하며 독초와 쑥의 뿌리가 너희 중에 생겨서
  Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

19. 이 저주의 말을 듣고도 심중에 스스로 위로하여 이르기를 내가 내 마음을 강퍅케 하여 젖은 것과 마른 것을 멸할찌라도 평안하리라 할까 염려함이라
  When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a blessing on himself and therefore thinks, "I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way." This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.

20. 여호와는 이런 자를 사하지 않으실 뿐 아니라 여호와의 분노와 질투의 불로 그의 위에 붓게 하시며 또 이 책에 기록된 모든 저주로 그에게 더하실 것이라 여호와께서 필경은 그의 이름을 천하에서 도말하시되
  The LORD will never be willing to forgive him; his wrath and zeal will burn against that man. All the curses written in this book will fall upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

21. 여호와께서 곧 이스라엘 모든 지파 중에서 그를 구별하시고 이 율법책에 기록된 언약의 모든 저주대로 그에게 화를 더하시리라
  The LORD will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

22. 너희 뒤에 일어나는 너희 자손과 원방에서 오는 객이 그 땅의 재앙과 여호와께서 그 땅에 유행시키시는 질병을 보며
  Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it.

23. 그 온 땅이 유황이 되며 소금이 되며 또 불에 타서 심지도 못하며 결실함도 없으며 거기 아무 풀도 나지 아니함이 옛적에 여호와께서 진노와 분한으로 훼멸하신 소돔과 고모라와 아드마와 스보임의 무너짐과 같음을 보고 말할 것이요
  The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur--nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger.

24. 열방 사람들도 말하기를 여호와께서 어찌하여 이 땅에 이같이 행하셨느뇨 이같이 크고 열렬하게 노하심은 무슨 뜻이뇨 하면
  All the nations will ask: "Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?"

25. 그 때에 사람이 대답하기를 그 무리가 자기의 조상의 하나님 여호와께서 그 조상을 애굽에서 인도하여 내실 때에 더불어 세우신 언약을 버리고
  And the answer will be: "It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.

26. 가서 자기들이 알지도 못하고 여호와께서 그들에게 주시지도 아니한 다른 신들을 섬겨 그에게 절한 까닭이라
  They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

27. 이러므로 여호와께서 이 땅을 향하여 진노하사 이 책에 기록된 모든 저주대로 재앙을 내리시고
  Therefore the LORD'S anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.

28. 여호와께서 또 진노와 분한과 크게 통한하심으로 그들을 이 땅에서 뽑아내사 다른 나라에 던져 보내심이 오늘날과 같다 하리라
  In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now."

29. 오묘한 일은 우리 하나님 여호와께 속하였거니와 나타난 일은 영구히 우리와 우리 자손에게 속하였나니 이는 우리로 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 행하게 하심이니라
  The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

시편 119:49-72

49. 주의 종에게 하신 말씀을 기억하소서 주께서 나로 소망이 있게 하셨나이다
  Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.

50. 이 말씀은 나의 곤란 중에 위로라 주의 말씀이 나를 살리셨음이니이다
  My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

51. 교만한 자가 나를 심히 조롱하였어도 나는 주의 법을 떠나지 아니하였나이다
  The arrogant mock me without restraint, but I do not turn from your law.

52. 여호와여 주의 옛 규례를 내가 기억하고 스스로 위로하였나이다
  I remember your ancient laws, O LORD, and I find comfort in them.

53. 주의 율법을 버린 악인들을 인하여 내가 맹렬한 노에 잡혔나이다
  Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law.

54. 나의 나그네 된 집에서 주의 율례가 나의 노래가 되었나이다
  Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.

55. 여호와여 내가 밤에 주의 이름을 기억하고 주의 법을 지켰나이다
  In the night I remember your name, O LORD, and I will keep your law.

56. 내 소유는 이것이니 곧 주의 법도를 지킨 것이니이다
  This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.

57. 여호와는 나의 분깃이시니 나는 주의 말씀을 지키리라 하였나이다
  You are my portion, O LORD; I have promised to obey your words.

58. 내가 전심으로 주의 은혜를 구하였사오니 주의 말씀대로 나를 긍휼히 여기소서
  I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

59. 내가 내 행위를 생각하고 주의 증거로 내 발을 돌이켰사오며
  I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes.

60. 주의 계명을 지키기에 신속히 하고 지체치 아니하였나이다
  I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.

61. 악인의 줄이 내게 두루 얽혔을지라도 나는 주의 법을 잊지 아니하였나이다
  Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.

62. 내가 주의 의로운 규례를 인하여 밤중에 일어나 주께 감사하리이다
  At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.

63. 나는 주를 경외하는 모든 자와 주의 법도를 지키는 자의 동무라
  I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.

64. 여호와여 주의 인자하심이 땅에 충만하였사오니 주의 율례로 나를 가르치소서
  The earth is filled with your love, O LORD; teach me your decrees.

65. 여호와여 주의 말씀대로 주의 종을 선대하셨나이다
  Do good to your servant according to your word, O LORD.

66. 내가 주의 계명을 믿었사오니 명철과 지식을 내게 가르치소서
  Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.

67. 고난당하기 전에는 내가 그릇 행하였더니 이제는 주의 말씀을 지키나이다
  Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.

68. 주는 선하사 선을 행하시오니 주의 율례로 나를 가르치소서
  You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.

69. 교만한 자가 거짓을 지어 나를 치려 하였사오나 나는 전심으로 주의 법도를 지키리이다
  Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart.

70. 저희 마음은 살쪄 지방 같으나 나는 주의 법을 즐거워하나이다
  Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.

71. 고난당한 것이 내게 유익이라 이로 인하여 내가 주의 율례를 배우게 되었나이다
  It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

72. 주의 입의 법이 내게는 천천 금은보다 승하니이다
  The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 56

1. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 너희는 공평을 지키며 의를 행하라 나의 구원이 가까이 왔고 나의 의가 쉬 나타날 것임이라 하셨은즉
  This is what the LORD says: "Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.

2. 안식일을 지켜 더럽히지 아니하며 그 손을 금하여 모든 악을 행치 아니하여야 하나니 이같이 행하는 사람, 이같이 굳이 잡는 인생은 복이 있느니라
  Blessed is the man who does this, the man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil."

3. 여호와께 연합한 이방인은 여호와께서 나를 그 백성 중에서 반드시 갈라내시리라 말하지 말며 고자도 나는 마른 나무라 말하지 말라
  Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the LORD say, "The LORD will surely exclude me from his people." And let not any eunuch complain, "I am only a dry tree."

4. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 나의 안식일을 지키며 나를 기뻐하는 일을 선택하며 나의 언약을 굳게 잡는 고자들에게는
  For this is what the LORD says: "To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases me and hold fast to my covenant--

5. 내가 내 집에서, 내 성 안에서 자녀보다 나은 기념물과 이름을 주며 영영한 이름을 주어 끊치지 않게 할 것이며
  to them I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off.

6. 또 나 여호와에게 연합하여 섬기며 나 여호와의 이름을 사랑하며 나의 종이 되며 안식일을 지켜 더럽히지 아니하며 나의 언약을 굳게 지키는 이방인마다
  And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to serve him, to love the name of the LORD, and to worship him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant--

7. 내가 그를 나의 성산으로 인도하여 기도하는 내 집에서 그들을 기쁘게 할 것이며 그들의 번제와 희생은 나의 단에서 기꺼이 받게 되리니 이는 내 집은 만민의 기도하는 집이라 일컬음이 될 것임이라
  these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations."

8. 이스라엘의 쫓겨난 자를 모으는 주 여호와가 말하노니 내가 이미 모은 본 백성 외에 또 모아 그에게 속하게 하리라 하셨느니라
  The Sovereign LORD declares--he who gathers the exiles of Israel: "I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered."

9. 들의 짐승들아 삼림 중의 짐승들아 다 와서 삼키라
  Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!

10. 그 파숫군들은 소경이요 다 무지하며 벙어리개라 능히 짖지 못하며 다 꿈꾸는 자요 누운 자요 잠자기를 좋아하는 자니
  Israel's watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.

11. 이 개들은 탐욕이 심하여 족한 줄을 알지 못하는 자요 그들은 몰각한 목자들이라 다 자기 길로 돌이키며 어디 있는 자이든지 자기 이만 도모하며
  They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain.

12. 피차 이르기를 오라 내가 포도주를 가져오리라 우리가 독주를 잔뜩 먹자 내일도 오늘같이 또 크게 넘치리라 하느니라
  "Come," each one cries, "let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better."

마태복음 4

1. 그 때에 예수께서 성령에게 이끌리어 마귀에게 시험을 받으러 광야로 가사
  Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.

2. 사십 일을 밤낮으로 금식하신 후에 주리신지라
  After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

3. 시험하는 자가 예수께 나아와서 가로되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 명하여 이 돌들이 떡덩이가 되게 하라
  The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

4. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 기록되었으되 사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니요 하나님의 입으로 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살 것이라 하였느니라 하시니
  Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

5. 이에 마귀가 예수를 거룩한 성으로 데려다가 성전 꼭대기에 세우고
  Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

6. 가로되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 뛰어내리라 기록하였으되 저가 너를 위하여 그 사자들을 명하시리니 저희가 손으로 너를 받들어 발이 돌에 부딪히지 않게 하리로다 하였느니라
  "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'"

7. 예수께서 이르시되 또 기록되었으되 주 너의 하나님을 시험치 말라 하였느니라 하신대
  Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

8. 마귀가 또 그를 데리고 지극히 높은 산으로 가서 천하 만국과 그 영광을 보여
  Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.

9. 가로되 만일 내게 엎드려 경배하면 이 모든 것을 네게 주리라
  "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

10. 이에 예수께서 말씀하시되 사단아 물러가라 기록되었으되 주 너의 하나님께 경배하고 다만 그를 섬기라 하였느니라
  Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"

11. 이에 마귀는 예수를 떠나고 천사들이 나아와서 수종드니라
  Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

12. 예수께서 요한의 잡힘을 들으시고 갈릴리로 물러가셨다가
  When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee.

13. 나사렛을 떠나 스불론과 납달리 지경 해변에 있는 가버나움에 가서 사시니
  Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--

14. 이는 선지자 이사야로 하신 말씀을 이루려 하심이라 일렀으되
  to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

15. 스불론 땅과 납달리 땅과 요단 강 저편 해변 길과 이방의 갈릴리여
  "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--

16. 흑암에 앉은 백성이 큰 빛을 보았고 사망의 땅과 그늘에 앉은 자들에게 빛이 비취었도다 하였느니라
  the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."

17. 이 때부터 예수께서 비로소 전파하여 가라사대 회개하라 천국이 가까왔느니라 하시더라
  From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

18. 갈릴리 해변에 다니시다가 두 형제 곧 베드로라 하는 시몬과 그 형제 안드레가 바다에 그물 던지는 것을 보시니 저희는 어부라
  As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.

19. 말씀하시되 나를 따라오너라 내가 너희로 사람을 낚는 어부가 되게 하리라 하시니
  "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

20. 저희가 곧 그물을 버려 두고 예수를 좇으니라
  At once they left their nets and followed him.

21. 거기서 더 가시다가 다른 두 형제 곧 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그 형제 요한이 그 부친 세베대와 한가지로 배에서 그물 깁는 것을 보시고 부르시니
  Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,

22. 저희가 곧 배와 부친을 버려 두고 예수를 좇으니라
  and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

23. 예수께서 온 갈릴리에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며 백성 중에 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니
  Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

24. 그의 소문이 온 수리아에 퍼진지라 사람들이 모든 앓는 자 곧 각색 병과 고통에 걸린 자, 귀신들린 자, 간질하는 자, 중풍병자들을 데려오니 저희를 고치시더라
  News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.

25. 갈릴리와 데가볼리와 예루살렘과 유대와 요단 강 건너편에서 허다한 무리가 좇으니라
  Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
