신명기 30

1. 내가 네게 진술한 모든 복과 저주가 네게 임하므로 네가 네 하나님 여호와께 쫓겨간 모든 나라 가운데서 이 일이 마음에서 기억이 나거든
  When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the LORD your God disperses you among the nations,

2. 너와 네 자손이 네 하나님 여호와께로 돌아와 내가 오늘날 네게 명한 것을 온전히 따라서 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하여 여호와의 말씀을 순종하면
  and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today,

3. 네 하나님 여호와께서 마음을 돌이키시고 너를 긍휼히 여기사 네 포로를 돌리시되 네 하나님 여호와께서 너를 흩으신 그 모든 백성 중에서 너를 모으시리니
  then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.

4. 너의 쫓겨간 자들이 하늘 가에 있을찌라도 네 하나님 여호와께서 거기서 너를 모으실 것이며 거기서부터 너를 이끄실 것이라
  Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.

5. 네 하나님 여호와께서 너를 네 열조가 얻은 땅으로 돌아오게 하사 너로 다시 그것을 얻게 하실 것이며 여호와께서 또 네게 선을 행하사 너로 네 열조보다 더 번성케 하실 것이며
  He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.

6. 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 마음과 네 자손의 마음에 할례를 베푸사 너로 마음을 다하며 성품을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하게 하사 너로 생명을 얻게 하실 것이며
  The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

7. 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 대적과 너를 미워하고 핍박하던 자에게 이 모든 저주로 임하게 하시리니
  The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.

8. 너는 돌아와 다시 여호와의 말씀을 순종하고 내가 오늘날 네게 명한 그 모든 명령을 행할 것이라
  You will again obey the LORD and follow all his commands I am giving you today.

9. 네가 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 순종하여 이 율법책에 기록된 그 명령과 규례를 지키고 네 마음을 다하며 성품을 다하여 여호와 네 하나님께 돌아오면 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 손으로 하는 모든 일과 네 몸의 소생과 네 육축의 새끼와 네 토지 소산을 많게 하시고 네게 복을 주시되 곧 여호와께서 네 열조를 기뻐하신 것과 같이 너를 다시 기뻐하사 네게 복을 주시리라
  Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers,

  if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

11. 내가 오늘날 네게 명한 이 명령은 네게 어려운 것도 아니요 먼 것도 아니라
  Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.

12. 하늘에 있는 것이 아니니 네가 이르기를 누가 우리를 위하여 하늘에 올라가서 그 명령을 우리에게로 가지고 와서 우리에게 들려 행하게 할꼬 할 것이 아니요
  It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"

13. 이것이 바다 밖에 있는 것이 아니니 네가 이르기를 누가 우리를 위하여 바다를 건너가서 그 명령을 우리에게로 가지고 와서 우리에게 들려 행하게 할꼬 할 것도 아니라
  Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"

14. 오직 그 말씀이 네게 심히 가까와서 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있은즉 네가 이를 행할 수 있느니라
  No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

15. 보라 내가 오늘날 생명과 복과 사망과 화를 네 앞에 두었나니
  See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.

16. 곧 내가 오늘날 너를 명하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 그 모든 길로 행하며 그 명령과 규례와 법도를 지키라 하는 것이라 그리하면 네가 생존하며 번성할 것이요 또 네 하나님 여호와께서 네가 가서 얻을 땅에서 네게 복을 주실 것임이니라
  For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17. 그러나 네가 만일 마음을 돌이켜 듣지 아니하고 유혹을 받아서 다른 신들에게 절하고 그를 섬기면
  But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,

18. 내가 오늘날 너희에게 선언하노니 너희가 반드시 망할 것이라 너희가 요단을 건너가서 얻을 땅에서 너희의 날이 장구치 못할 것이니라
  I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19. 내가 오늘날 천지를 불러서 너희에게 증거를 삼노라 내가 생명과 사망과 복과 저주를 네 앞에 두었은즉 너와 네 자손이 살기 위하여 생명을 택하고
  This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

20. 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 그 말씀을 순종하며 또 그에게 부종하라 그는 네 생명이시요 네 장수시니 여호와께서 네 열조 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에 네가 거하리라
  and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

시편 119:73-96

73. 주의 손이 나를 만들고 세우셨사오니 나로 깨닫게 하사 주의 계명을 배우게 하소서
  Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.

74. 주를 경외하는 자가 나를 보고 기뻐할 것은 내가 주의 말씀을 바라는 연고니이다
  May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.

75. 여호와여 내가 알거니와 주의 판단은 의로우시고 주께서 나를 괴롭게 하심은 성실하심으로 말미암음이니이다
  I know, O LORD, that your laws are righteous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

76. 구하오니 주의 종에게 하신 말씀대로 주의 인자하심이 나의 위안이 되게 하시며
  May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.

77. 주의 긍휼히 여기심이 내게 임하사 나로 살게 하소서 주의 법은 나의 즐거움이니이다
  Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.

78. 교만한 자가 무고히 나를 엎드러뜨렸으니 저희로 수치를 당케 하소서 나는 주의 법도를 묵상하리이다
  May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts.

79. 주를 경외하는 자로 내게 돌아오게 하소서 그리하시면 저희가 주의 증거를 알리이다
  May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes.

80. 내 마음으로 주의 율례에 완전케 하사 나로 수치를 당치 않게 하소서
  May my heart be blameless toward your decrees, that I may not be put to shame.

81. 나의 영혼이 주의 구원을 사모하기에 피곤하오나 나는 오히려 주의 말씀을 바라나이다
  My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.

82. 나의 말이 주께서 언제나 나를 안위하시겠나이까 하면서 내 눈이 주의 말씀을 바라기에 피곤하니이다
  My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?"

83. 내가 연기 중의 가죽병같이 되었으나 오히려 주의 율례를 잊지 아니하나이다
  Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees.

84. 주의 종의 날이 얼마나 되나이까 나를 핍박하는 자를 주께서 언제나 국문하시리이까
  How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors?

85. 주의 법을 좇지 아니하는 교만한 자가 나를 해하려고 웅덩이를 팠나이다
  The arrogant dig pitfalls for me, contrary to your law.

86. 주의 모든 계명은 신실하니이다 저희가 무고히 나를 핍박하오니 나를 도우소서
  All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for men persecute me without cause.

87. 저희가 나를 세상에서 거의 멸하였으나 나는 주의 법도를 버리지 아니하였사오니
  They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts.

88. 주의 인자하심을 따라 나로 소성케 하소서 그리하시면 주의 입의 증거를 내가 지키리이다
  Preserve my life according to your love, and I will obey the statutes of your mouth.

89. 여호와여 주의 말씀이 영원히 하늘에 굳게 섰사오며
  Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

90. 주의 성실하심은 대대에 이르나이다 주께서 땅을 세우셨으므로 땅이 항상 있사오니
  Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.

91. 천지가 주의 규례대로 오늘까지 있음은 만물이 주의 종이 된 연고니이다
  Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.

92. 주의 법이 나의 즐거움이 되지 아니하였더면 내가 내 고난 중에 멸망하였으리이다
  If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

93. 내가 주의 법도를 영원히 잊지 아니하오니 주께서 이것들로 나를 살게 하심이니이다
  I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.

94. 나는 주의 것이오니 나를 구원하소서 내가 주의 법도를 찾았나이다
  Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts.

95. 악인이 나를 멸하려고 엿보오나 나는 주의 증거를 생각하겠나이다
  The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes.

96. 내가 보니 모든 완전한 것이 다 끝이 있어도 주의 계명은 심히 넓으니이다
  To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 57

1. 의인이 죽을찌라도 마음에 두는 자가 없고 자비한 자들이 취하여 감을 입을찌라도 그 의인은 화액 전에 취하여 감을 입은 것인줄로 깨닫는 자가 없도다
  The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.

2. 그는 평안에 들어갔나니 무릇 정로로 행하는 자는 자기들의 침상에서 편히 쉬느니라
  Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

3. 무녀의 자식, 간음자와 음녀의 씨 너희는 가까이 오라
  "But you--come here, you sons of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!

4. 너희가 누구를 희롱하느냐 누구를 향하여 입을 크게 벌리며 혀를 내미느냐 너희는 패역의 자식, 궤휼의 종류가 아니냐
  Whom are you mocking? At whom do you sneer and stick out your tongue? Are you not a brood of rebels, the offspring of liars?

5. 너희가 상수리나무 사이, 모든 푸른 나무 아래서 음욕을 피우며 골짜기 가운데 바위 틈에서 자녀를 죽이는도다
  You burn with lust among the oaks and under every spreading tree; you sacrifice your children in the ravines and under the overhanging crags.

6. 골짜기 가운데 매끄러운 돌 중에 너희 소득이 있으니 그것이 곧 너희가 제비뽑아 얻은 것이라 너희가 전제와 예물을 그것들에게 드리니 내가 어찌 이를 용인하겠느냐
  The idols among the smooth stones of the ravines are your portion; they, they are your lot. Yes, to them you have poured out drink offerings and offered grain offerings. In the light of these things, should I relent?

7. 네가 높고 높은 산 위에 네 침상을 베풀었고 네가 또 그리로 올라가서 제사를 드렸으며
  You have made your bed on a high and lofty hill; there you went up to offer your sacrifices.

8. 네가 또 네 기념표를 문과 문설주 뒤에 두었으며 네가 나를 배반하고 다른 자를 위하여 몸을 드러내고 올라가며 네 침상을 넓히고 그들과 언약하며 또 그들의 침상을 사랑하여 그 처소를 예비하였으며
  Behind your doors and your doorposts you have put your pagan symbols. Forsaking me, you uncovered your bed, you climbed into it and opened it wide; you made a pact with those whose beds you love, and you looked on their nakedness.

9. 네가 기름을 가지고 몰렉에게 나아가되 향품을 더욱 더하였으며 네가 또 사신을 원방에 보내고 음부까지 스스로 낮추었으며
  You went to Molech with olive oil and increased your perfumes. You sent your ambassadors far away; you descended to the grave itself!

10. 네가 길이 멀어서 피곤할찌라도 헛되다 아니함은 네 힘이 소성되었으므로 쇠약하여 가지 아니함이니라
  You were wearied by all your ways, but you would not say, 'It is hopeless.' You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

11. 네가 누구를 두려워하며 누구로하여 놀랐기에 거짓을 말하며 나를 생각지 아니하며 이를 마음에 두지 아니하였느냐 네가 나를 경외치 아니함은 내가 오래 동안 잠잠함을 인함이 아니냐
  "Whom have you so dreaded and feared that you have been false to me, and have neither remembered me nor pondered this in your hearts? Is it not because I have long been silent that you do not fear me?

12. 너의 의를 내가 보이리라 너의 소위가 네게 무익하니라
  I will expose your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you.

13. 네가 부르짖을 때에 네가 모은 우상으로 너를 구원하게 하라 그것은 다 바람에 떠 가겠고 기운에 불려 갈 것이로되 나를 의뢰하는 자는 땅을 차지하겠고 나의 거룩한 산을 기업으로 얻으리라
  When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But the man who makes me his refuge will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain."

14. 장차 말하기를 돋우고 돋우어 길을 수축하여 내 백성의 길에서 거치는 것을 제하여 버리라 하리라
  And it will be said: "Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people."

15. 지존 무상하며 영원히 거하며 거룩하다 이름하는 자가 이같이 말씀하시되 내가 높고 거룩한 곳에 거하며 또한 통회하고 마음이 겸손한 자와 함께 거하나니 이는 겸손한 자의 영을 소성케 하며 통회하는 자의 마음을 소성케 하려 함이라
  For this is what the high and lofty One says--he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

16. 내가 영원히는 다투지 아니하며 내가 장구히는 노하지 아니할 것은 나의 지은 그 영과 혼이 내 앞에서 곤비할까 함이니라
  I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me--the breath of man that I have created.

17. 그의 탐심의 죄악을 인하여 내가 노하여 그를 쳤으며 또 내 얼굴을 가리우고 노하였으나 그가 오히려 패역하여 자기 마음의 길로 행하도다
  I was enraged by his sinful greed; I punished him, and hid my face in anger, yet he kept on in his willful ways.

18. 내가 그 길을 보았은즉 그를 고쳐 줄 것이라 그를 인도하며 그와 그의 슬퍼하는 자에게 위로를 다시 얻게 하리라
  I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him,

19. 입술의 열매를 짓는 나 여호와가 말하노라 먼데 있는 자에게든지 가까운데 있는 자에게든지 평강이 있을찌어다 평강이 있을찌어다 내가 그를 고치리라 하셨느니라
  creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel. Peace, peace, to those far and near," says the LORD. "And I will heal them."

20. 오직 악인은 능히 안정치 못하고 그 물이 진흙과 더러운 것을 늘 솟쳐내는 요동하는 바다와 같으니라
  But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud.

21. 내 하나님의 말씀에 악인에게는 평강이 없다 하셨느니라
  "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."

마태복음 5

1. 예수께서 무리를 보시고 산에 올라가 앉으시니 제자들이 나아온지라
  Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,

2. 입을 열어 가르쳐 가라사대
  and he began to teach them, saying:

3. 심령이 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이요
  "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4. 애통하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 위로를 받을 것임이요
  Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5. 온유한 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 땅을 기업으로 받을 것임이요
  Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6. 의에 주리고 목마른 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 배부를 것임이요
  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

7. 긍휼히 여기는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것임이요
  Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

8. 마음이 청결한 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님을 볼 것임이요
  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9. 화평케 하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님의 아들이라 일컬음을 받을 것임이요
  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

10. 의를 위하여 핍박을 받은 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이라
  Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11. 나를 인하여 너희를 욕하고 핍박하고 거짓으로 너희를 거스려 모든 악한 말을 할 때에는 너희에게 복이 있나니
  "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

12. 기뻐하고 즐거워하라 하늘에서 너희의 상이 큼이라 너희 전에 있던 선지자들을 이같이 핍박하였느니라
  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13. 너희는 세상의 소금이니 소금이 만일 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요 후에는 아무 쓸데없어 다만 밖에 버리워 사람에게 밟힐 뿐이니라
  "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14. 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨기우지 못할 것이요
  "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

15. 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집안 모든 사람에게 비취느니라
  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

16. 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

17. 내가 율법이나 선지자나 폐하러 온 줄로 생각지 말라 폐하러 온 것이 아니요 완전케 하려 함이로라
  "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

18. 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 천지가 없어지기 전에는 율법의 일점 일획이라도 반드시 없어지지 아니하고 다 이루리라
  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

19. 그러므로 누구든지 이 계명 중에 지극히 작은 것 하나라도 버리고 또 그같이 사람을 가르치는 자는 천국에서 지극히 작다 일컬음을 받을 것이요 누구든지 이를 행하며 가르치는 자는 천국에서 크다 일컬음을 받으리라
  Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 의가 서기관과 바리새인보다 더 낫지 못하면 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라
  For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

21. 옛 사람에게 말한 바 살인치 말라 누구든지 살인하면 심판을 받게 되리라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
  "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.'

22. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 형제에게 노하는 자마다 심판을 받게 되고 형제를 대하여 라가라 하는 자는 공회에 잡히게 되고 미련한 놈이라 하는 자는 지옥 불에 들어가게 되리라
  But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23. 그러므로 예물을 제단에 드리다가 거기서 네 형제에게 원망 들을 만한 일이 있는 줄 생각나거든
  "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

24. 예물을 제단 앞에 두고 먼저 가서 형제와 화목하고 그 후에 와서 예물을 드리라
  leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

25. 너를 송사하는 자와 함께 길에 있을 때에 급히 사화하라 그 송사하는 자가 너를 재판관에게 내어 주고 재판관이 관예에게 내어 주어 옥에 가둘까 염려하라
  "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

26. 진실로 네게 이르노니 네가 호리라도 남김이 없이 다 갚기 전에는 결단코 거기서 나오지 못하리라
  I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

27. 또 간음치 말라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
  "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'

28. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 여자를 보고 음욕을 품는 자마다 마음에 이미 간음하였느니라
  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29. 만일 네 오른눈이 너로 실족케 하거든 빼어 내버리라 네 백체 중 하나가 없어지고 온 몸이 지옥에 던지우지 않는 것이 유익하며
  If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

30. 또한 만일 네 오른손이 너로 실족케 하거든 찍어 내버리라 네 백체 중 하나가 없어지고 온 몸이 지옥에 던지우지 않는 것이 유익하니라
  And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

31. 또 일렀으되 누구든지 아내를 버리거든 이혼 증서를 줄 것이라 하였으나
  "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'

32. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 음행한 연고없이 아내를 버리면 이는 저로 간음하게 함이요 또 누구든지 버린 여자에게 장가드는 자도 간음함이니라
  But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

33. 또 옛 사람에게 말한 바 헛 맹세를 하지 말고 네 맹세한 것을 주께 지키라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
  "Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.'

34. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 도무지 맹세하지 말찌니 하늘로도 말라 이는 하나님의 보좌임이요
  But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne;

35. 땅으로도 말라 이는 하나님의 발등상임이요 예루살렘으로도 말라 이는 큰 임금의 성임이요
  or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

36. 네 머리로도 말라 이는 네가 한 터럭도 희고 검게 할 수 없음이라
  And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

37. 오직 너희 말은 옳다 옳다, 아니라 아니라 하라 이에서 지나는 것은 악으로 좇아 나느니라
  Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

38. 또 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚으라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
  "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'

39. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 악한 자를 대적지 말라 누구든지 네 오른편 뺨을 치거든 왼편도 돌려대며
  But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40. 또 너를 송사하여 속옷을 가지고자 하는 자에게 겉옷까지도 가지게 하며
  And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

41. 또 누구든지 너로 억지로 오리를 가게 하거든 그 사람과 십리를 동행하고
  If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

42. 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네게 꾸고자 하는 자에게 거절하지 말라
  Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43. 또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
  "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

44. 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 핍박하는 자를 위하여 기도하라
  But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45. 이같이 한즉 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 아들이 되리니 이는 하나님이 그 해를 악인과 선인에게 비취게 하시며 비를 의로운 자와 불의한 자에게 내리우심이니라
  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

46. 너희가 너희를 사랑하는 자를 사랑하면 무슨 상이 있으리요 세리도 이같이 아니하느냐
  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

47. 또 너희가 너희 형제에게만 문안하면 남보다 더하는 것이 무엇이냐 이방인들도 이같이 아니하느냐
  And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

48. 그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라
  Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
