신명기 13-14

1. 너희 중에 선지자나 꿈꾸는 자가 일어나서 이적과 기사를 네게 보이고
  If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder,

2. 네게 말하기를 네가 본래 알지 못하던 다른 신들을 우리가 좇아 섬기자 하며 이적과 기사가 그 말대로 이룰찌라도
  and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them,"

3. 너는 그 선지자나 꿈꾸는 자의 말을 청종하지 말라 이는 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희가 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하여 너희 하나님 여호와를 사랑하는 여부를 알려 하사 너희를 시험하심이니라
  you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

4. 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와를 순종하며 그를 경외하며 그 명령을 지키며 그 목소리를 청종하며 그를 섬기며 그에게 부종하고
  It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

5. 그 선지자나 꿈 꾸는 자는 죽이라 이는 그가 너희로 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내시며 종 되었던 집에서 속량하여 취하신 너희 하나님 여호와를 배반케 하려 하며 너희 하나님 여호와께서 네게 행하라 명하신 도에서 너를 꾀어내려고 말하였음이라 너는 이같이하여 너희 중에서 악을 제할찌니라
  That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

6. 네 동복 형제나 네 자녀나 네 품의 아내나 너와 생명을 함께 하는 친구가 가만히 너를 꾀어 이르기를 너와 네 열조가 알지 못하던 다른 신들
  If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known,

7. 곧 네 사방에 둘러 있는 민족 혹 네게서 가깝든지 네게서 멀든지 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 있는 민족의 신들을 우리가 가서 섬기자 할찌라도
  gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other),

8. 너는 그를 좇지 말며 듣지 말며 긍휼히 보지 말며 애석히 여기지 말며 덮어 숨기지 말고
  do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him.

9. 너는 용서 없이 그를 죽이되 죽일 때에 네가 먼저 그에게 손을 대고 후에 뭇 백성이 손을 대라
  You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people.

10. 그는 애굽 땅 종 되었던 집에서 너를 인도하여 내신 네 하나님 여호와에게서 너를 꾀어 떠나게 하려 한 자니 너는 돌로 쳐죽이라
  Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

11. 그리하면 온 이스라엘이 듣고 두려워하여 이같은 악을 다시는 너희 중에서 행하지 못하리라
  Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

12. 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주어 거하게 하시는 한 성읍에 대하여 네게 소문이 들리기를
  If you hear it said about one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you to live in

13. 너희 중 어떤 잡류가 일어나서 그 성읍 거민을 유혹하여 이르기를 너희가 알지 못하던 다른 신들을 우리가 가서 섬기자 한다 하거든
  that wicked men have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods you have not known),

14. 너는 자세히 묻고 살펴보아서 이런 가증한 일이 참 사실로 너희 중에 있으면
  then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you,

15. 너는 마땅히 그 성읍 거민을 칼날로 죽이고 그 성읍과 그 중에 거하는 모든 것과 그 생축을 칼날로 진멸하고
  you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. Destroy it completely, both its people and its livestock.

16. 또 그 속에서 빼앗아 얻은 물건을 다 거리에 모아 놓고 그 성읍과 그 탈취물 전부를 불살라 네 하나님 여호와께 드릴찌니 그 성읍은 영영히 무더기가 되어 다시는 건축됨이 없을 것이니라
  Gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. It is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt.

17. 너는 이 진멸할 물건을 조금도 네 손에 대지 말라 그리하면 여호와께서 그 진노를 그치시고 너를 긍휼히 여기시고 자비를 더하사 너의 열조에게 맹세하심같이 네 수효를 번성케 하실 것이라
  None of those condemned things shall be found in your hands, so that the LORD will turn from his fierce anger; he will show you mercy, have compassion on you, and increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your forefathers,

18. 네가 만일 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 오늘날 내가 네게 명하는 그 모든 명령을 지켜 네 하나님 여호와의 목전에 정직을 행하면 이같이 되리라
  because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.

1. 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 자녀니 죽은 자를 위하여 자기 몸을 베지 말며 눈썹 사이 이마 위의 털을 밀지 말라
  You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,

2. 너는 너의 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 여호와께서 지상 만민 중에서 너를 택하여 자기의 기업의 백성을 삼으셨느니라
  for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

3. 너는 가증한 물건은 무엇이든지 먹지 말라
  Do not eat any detestable thing.

4. 너희의 먹을 만한 짐승은 이러하니 곧 소와 양과 염소와
  These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

5. 사슴과 노루와 불그스럼한 사슴과 산 염소와 볼기 흰 노루와 뿔 긴 사슴과 산양들
  the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.

6. 무릇 짐승 중에 굽이 갈라져 쪽발도 되고 새김질도 하는 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니라
  You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.

7. 다만 새김질을 하거나 굽이 갈라진 짐승 중에도 너희가 먹지 못할 것은 이것이니 곧 약대와 토끼와 사반 그것들은 새김질은 하나 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으니 너희에게 부정하고
  However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.

8. 돼지는 굽은 갈라졌으나 새김질을 못하므로 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 이런 것의 고기를 먹지 말 것이며 그 사체도 만지지 말 것이니라
  The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.

9. 물에 있는 어족 중에 이런 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니 무릇 지느러미와 비늘 있는 것은 너희가 먹을 것이요
  Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales.

10. 무릇 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 것은 너희가 먹지 말찌니 이는 너희에게 부정하니라
  But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean.

11. 무릇 정한 새는 너희가 먹으려니와
  You may eat any clean bird.

12. 이런 것은 먹지 못할찌니 곧 독수리와 솔개와 어응과
  But these you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

13. 매와 새매와 매의 종류와
  the red kite, the black kite, any kind of falcon,

14. 까마귀 종류와
  any kind of raven,

15. 타조와 다호마스와 갈매기와 새매 종류와
  the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

16. 올빼미와 부엉이와 따오기와
  the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,

17. 당아와 올응과 노자와
  the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,

18. 학과 황새 종류와 대승과 박쥐며
  the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

19. 또 무릇 날기도 하고 기어다니기도 하는 것은 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 먹지 말 것이나
  All flying insects that swarm are unclean to you; do not eat them.

20. 무릇 정한 새는 너희가 먹을찌니라
  But any winged creature that is clean you may eat.

21. 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 무릇 스스로 죽은 것은 먹지 말 것이니 그것을 성중에 우거하는 객에게 주어 먹게 하거나 이방인에게 팔아도 가하니라 너는 염소 새끼를 그 어미의 젖에 삶지 말찌니라
  Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to an alien living in any of your towns, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. But you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.

22. 너는 마땅히 매년에 토지 소산의 십일조를 드릴 것이며
  Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.

23. 네 하나님 여호와 앞 곧 여호와께서 그 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳에서 네 곡식과 포도주와 기름의 십일조를 먹으며 또 네 우양의 처음 난 것을 먹고 네 하나님 여호와 경외하기를 항상 배울 것이니라
  Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

24. 그러나 네 하나님 여호와께서 그 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳이 네게서 너무 멀고 행로가 어려워서 그 풍부히 주신 것을 가지고 갈 수 없거든
  But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away),

25. 그것을 돈으로 바꾸어 그 돈을 싸서 가지고 네 하나님 여호와의 택하신 곳으로 가서
  then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.

26. 무릇 네 마음에 좋아하는 것을 그 돈으로 사되 우양이나 포도주나 독주 등 무릇 네 마음에 원하는 것을 구하고 거기 네 하나님 여호와의 앞에서 너와 네 권속이 함께 먹고 즐거워할 것이며
  Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice.

27. 네 성읍에 거하는 레위인은 너의 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 자니 또한 저버리지 말찌니라
  And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

28. 매 삼 년 끝에 그 해 소산의 십분 일을 다 내어 네 성읍에 저축하여
  At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns,

29. 너의 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 레위인과 네 성중에 우거하는 객과 및 고아와 과부들로 와서 먹어 배부르게 하라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 너의 손으로 하는 범사에 네게 복을 주시리라
  so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

시편 99-101

1. 여호와께서 통치하시니 만민이 떨 것이요 여호와께서 그룹 사이에 좌정하시니 땅이 요동할 것이로다
  The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.

2. 여호와께서 시온에서 광대하시고 모든 민족 위에 높으시도다
  Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.

3. 주의 크고 두려운 이름을 찬송할찌어다 그는 거룩하시도다
  Let them praise your great and awesome name--he is holy.

4. 왕의 능력은 공의를 사랑하는 것이라 주께서 공평을 견고히 세우시고 야곱 중에서 공과 의를 행하시나이다
  The King is mighty, he loves justice--you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right.

5. 너희는 여호와 우리 하나님을 높여 그 발등상 앞에서 경배할찌어다 그는 거룩하시도다
  Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

6. 그 제사장 중에는 모세와 아론이요 그 이름을 부르는 자 중에는 사무엘이라 저희가 여호와께 간구하매 응답하셨도다
  Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the LORD and he answered them.

7. 여호와께서 구름 기둥에서 저희에게 말씀하시니 저희가 그 주신 증거와 율례를 지켰도다
  He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

8. 여호와 우리 하나님이여 주께서는 저희에게 응답하셨고 저희 행한 대로 갚기는 하셨으나 저희를 사하신 하나님이시니이다
  O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.

9. 너희는 여호와 우리 하나님을 높이고 그 성산에서 경배할찌어다 대저 여호와 우리 하나님은 거룩하시도다
  Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.

1. 온 땅이여 여호와께 즐거이 부를찌어다
  A psalm. For giving thanks. Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2. 기쁨으로 여호와를 섬기며 노래하면서 그 앞에 나아갈찌어다
  Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

3. 여호와가 우리 하나님이신줄 너희는 알찌어다 그는 우리를 지으신 자시요 우리는 그의 것이니 그의 백성이요 그의 기르시는 양이로다
  Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4. 감사함으로 그 문에 들어가며 찬송함으로 그 궁정에 들어가서 그에게 감사하며 그 이름을 송축할찌어다
  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

5. 대저 여호와는 선하시니 그 인자하심이 영원하고 그 성실하심이 대대에 미치리로다
  For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

1. 내가 인자와 공의를 찬송하겠나이다 여호와여 내가 주께 찬양하리이다
  Of David. A psalm. I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise.

2. 내가 완전한 길에 주의하오리니 주께서 언제나 내게 임하시겠나이까 내가 완전한 마음으로 내 집 안에서 행하리이다
  I will be careful to lead a blameless life--when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart.

3. 나는 비루한 것을 내 눈 앞에 두지 아니할 것이요 배도자들의 행위를 미워하니 이것이 내게 붙접지 아니하리이다
  I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me.

4. 사특한 마음이 내게서 떠날 것이니 악한 일을 내가 알지 아니하리로다
  Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.

5. 그 이웃을 그윽히 허는 자를 내가 멸할 것이요 눈이 높고 마음이 교만한 자를 내가 용납지 아니하리로다
  Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure.

6. 내 눈이 이 땅의 충성된 자를 살펴 나와 함께 거하게 하리니 완전한 길에 행하는 자가 나를 수종하리로다
  My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me.

7. 거짓 행하는 자가 내 집 안에 거하지 못하며 거짓말하는 자가 내 목전에 서지 못하리로다
  No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.

8. 아침마다 내가 이 땅의 모든 악인을 멸하리니 죄악 행하는 자는 여호와의 성에서 다 끊어지리로다
  Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 41

1. 섬들아 내 앞에 잠잠하라 민족들아 힘을 새롭게 하라 가까이 나아오라 그리하고 말하라 우리가 가까이 하여 서로 변론하자
  "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment.

2. 누가 동방에서 사람을 일으키며 의로 불러서 자기 발 앞에 이르게 하였느뇨 열국으로 그 앞에 굴복케 하며 그로 왕들을 치리하게 하되 그들로 그의 칼에 티끌 같게, 그의 활에 불리는 초개 같게 하매
  "Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow.

3. 그가 그들을 쫓아서 그 발로 가 보지 못한 길을 안전히 지났나니
  He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before.

4. 이 일을 누가 행하였느냐 누가 이루었느냐 누가 태초부터 만대를 명정하였느냐 나 여호와라 태초에도 나요 나중 있을 자에게도 내가 곧 그니라
  Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD--with the first of them and with the last--I am he."

5. 섬들이 보고 두려워하며 땅 끝이 무서워 떨며 함께 모여 와서
  The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward;

6. 각기 이웃을 도우며 그 형제에게 이르기를 너는 담대하라 하고
  each helps the other and says to his brother, "Be strong!"

7. 목공은 금장색을 장려하며 마치로 고르게 하는 자는 메질군을 장려하며 가로되 땜이 잘 된다 하며 못을 단단히 박아 우상으로 흔들리지 않게 하는도다
  The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding, "It is good." He nails down the idol so it will not topple.

8. 그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아 나의 택한 야곱아 나의 벗 아브라함의 자손아
  "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,

9. 내가 땅 끝에서부터 너를 붙들며 땅 모퉁이에서부터 너를 부르고 네게 이르기를 너는 나의 종이라 내가 너를 택하고 싫어 버리지 아니하였다 하였노라
  I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

10. 두려워 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이니라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이니라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라
  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11. 보라 네게 노하던 자들이 수치와 욕을 당할 것이요 너와 다투는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 것같이 될 것이며 멸망할 것이라
  "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

12. 네가 찾아도 너와 싸우던 자들을 만나지 못할 것이요 너를 치는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것같이, 허무한 것같이 되리니
  Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

13. 이는 나 여호와 너의 하나님이 네 오른손을 붙들고 네게 이르기를 두려워 말라 내가 너를 도우리라 할 것임이니라
  For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

14. 지렁이 같은 너 야곱아, 너희 이스라엘 사람들아 두려워 말라 나 여호와가 말하노니 내가 너를 도울 것이라 네 구속자는 이스라엘의 거룩한 자니라
  Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15. 보라 내가 너로 이가 날카로운 새 타작 기계를 삼으리니 네가 산들을 쳐서 부스러기를 만들 것이며 작은 산들로 겨 같게 할 것이라
  "See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.

16. 네가 그들을 까부른즉 바람이 그것을 날리겠고 회리바람이 그것을 흩어 버릴 것이로되 너는 여호와로 인하여 즐거워하겠고 이스라엘의 거룩한 자로 인하여 자랑하리라
  You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17. 가련하고 빈핍한 자가 물을 구하되 물이 없어서 갈증으로 그들의 혀가 마를 때에 나 여호와가 그들에게 응답하겠고 나 이스라엘의 하나님이 그들을 버리지 아니할 것이라
  "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18. 내가 자산에 강을 열며 골짜기 가운데 샘이 나게 하며 광야로 못이 되게 하며 마른 땅으로 샘 근원이 되게 할 것이며
  I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

19. 내가 광야에는 백향목과 싯딤나무와 화석류와 들감람나무를 심고 사막에는 잣나무와 소나무와 황양목을 함께 두리니
  I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,

20. 무리가 그것을 보고 여호와의 손이 지은 바요 이스라엘의 거룩한 자가 창조한 바인 줄 알며 헤아리며 깨달으리라
  so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

21. 나 여호와가 말하노니 너희 우상들은 소송을 일으키라 야곱의 왕이 말하노니 너희는 확실한 증거를 보이라
  "Present your case," says the LORD. "Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King.

22. 장차 당할 일을 우리에게 진술하라 또 이전 일의 어떠한 것도 고하라 우리가 연구하여 그 결국을 알리라 혹 장래사를 보이며
  "Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come,

23. 후래사를 진술하라 너희의 신 됨을 우리가 알리라 또 복을 내리든지 화를 내리라 우리가 함께 보고 놀라리라
  tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.

24. 과연 너희는 아무것도 아니며 너희 일은 허망하며 너희를 택한 자는 가증하니라
  But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; he who chooses you is detestable.

25. 내가 한 사람을 일으켜 북방에서 오게 하며 내 이름을 부르는 자를 해 돋는 곳에서 오게 하였나니 그가 이르러 방백들을 회삼물같이, 토기장이의 진흙을 밟음같이 밟을 것이니
  "I have stirred up one from the north, and he comes--one from the rising sun who calls on my name. He treads on rulers as if they were mortar, as if he were a potter treading the clay.

26. 누가 처음부터 이 일을 우리에게 고하여 알게 하였느뇨 누가 이전부터 우리에게 고하여 이가 옳다고 말하게 하였느뇨 능히 고하는 자도 없고 보이는 자도 없고 너희 말을 듣는 자도 없도다
  Who told of this from the beginning, so we could know, or beforehand, so we could say, 'He was right'? No one told of this, no one foretold it, no one heard any words from you.

27. 내가 비로소 시온에 이르기를 너희는 보라 그들을 보라 하였노라 내가 기쁜 소식 전할 자를 예루살렘에 주리라
  I was the first to tell Zion, 'Look, here they are!' I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.

28. 내가 본즉 한 사람도 없으며 내가 물어도 그들 가운데 한 말도 능히 대답할 모사가 없도다
  I look but there is no one--no one among them to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.

29. 과연 그들의 모든 행사는 공허하며 허무하며 그들의 부어 만든 우상은 바람이요 허탄한 것뿐이니라
  See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.

요한계시록 11

1. 또 내게 지팡이 같은 갈대를 주며 말하기를 일어나서 하나님의 성전과 제단과 그 안에서 경배하는 자들을 척량하되
  I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there.

2. 성전 밖 마당은 척량하지 말고 그냥 두라 이것을 이방인에게 주었은즉 저희가 거룩한 성을 마흔두 달 동안 짓밟으리라
  But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.

3. 내가 나의 두 증인에게 권세를 주리니 저희가 굵은 베옷을 입고 일천이백육십 일을 예언하리라
  And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth."

4. 이는 이 땅의 주 앞에 섰는 두 감람나무와 두 촛대니
  These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.

5. 만일 누구든지 저희를 해하고자 한즉 저희 입에서 불이 나서 그 원수를 소멸할찌니 누구든지 해하려 하면 반드시 이와 같이 죽임을 당하리라
  If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.

6. 저희가 권세를 가지고 하늘을 닫아 그 예언을 하는 날 동안 비 오지 못하게 하고 또 권세를 가지고 물을 변하여 피 되게 하고 아무 때든지 원하는 대로 여러 가지 재앙으로 땅을 치리로다
  These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

7. 저희가 그 증거를 마칠 때에 무저갱으로부터 올라오는 짐승이 저희로 더불어 전쟁을 일으켜 저희를 이기고 저희를 죽일 터인즉
  Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.

8. 저희 시체가 큰 성 길에 있으리니 그 성은 영적으로 하면 소돔이라고도 하고 애굽이라고도 하니 곧 저희 주께서 십자가에 못 박히신 곳이니라
  Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

9. 백성들과 족속과 방언과 나라 중에서 사람들이 그 시체를 사흘 반 동안을 목도하며 무덤에 장사하지 못하게 하리로다
  For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial.

10. 이 두 선지자가 땅에 거하는 자들을 괴롭게 한 고로 땅에 거하는 자들이 저희의 죽음을 즐거워하고 기뻐하여 서로 예물을 보내리라 하더라
  The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

11. 삼 일 반 후에 하나님께로부터 생기가 저희 속에 들어가매 저희가 발로 일어서니 구경하는 자들이 크게 두려워하더라
  But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them.

12. 하늘로부터 큰 음성이 있어 이리로 올라오라 함을 저희가 듣고 구름을 타고 하늘로 올라가니 저희 원수들도 구경하더라
  Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

13. 그 시에 큰 지진이 나서 성 십분의 일이 무너지고 지진에 죽은 사람이 칠천이라 그 남은 자들이 두려워하여 영광을 하늘의 하나님께 돌리더라
  At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14. 둘째 화는 지나갔으나 보라 세째 화가 속히 이르는도다
  The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.

15. 일곱째 천사가 나팔을 불매 하늘에 큰 음성들이 나서 가로되 세상 나라가 우리 주와 그 그리스도의 나라가 되어 그가 세세토록 왕 노릇 하시리로다 하니
  The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

16. 하나님 앞에 자기 보좌에 앉은 이십사 장로들이 엎드려 얼굴을 대고 하나님께 경배하여
  And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,

17. 가로되 감사하옵나니 옛적에도 계셨고 시방도 계신 주 하나님 곧 전능하신 이여 친히 큰 권능을 잡으시고 왕 노릇 하시도다
  saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

18. 이방들이 분노하매 주의 진노가 임하여 죽은 자를 심판하시며 종 선지자들과 성도들과 또 무론 대소하고 주의 이름을 경외하는 자들에게 상주시며 또 땅을 망하게 하는 자들을 멸망시키실 때로소이다 하더라
  The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great--and for destroying those who destroy the earth."

19. 이에 하늘에 있는 하나님의 성전이 열리니 성전 안에 하나님의 언약궤가 보이며 또 번개와 음성들과 뇌성과 지진과 큰 우박이 있더라
  Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
