신명기 9

1. 이스라엘아 들으라 네가 오늘 요단을 건너 너보다 강대한 나라들로 들어가서 그것을 얻으리니 그 성읍들은 크고 성벽은 하늘에 닿았으며
  Hear, O Israel. You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.

2. 그 백성은 네가 아는바 장대한 아낙 자손이라 그에게 대한 말을 네가 들었나니 이르기를 누가 아낙 자손을 능히 당하리요 하거니와
  The people are strong and tall--Anakites! You know about them and have heard it said: "Who can stand up against the Anakites?"

3. 오늘날 너는 알라 네 하나님 여호와께서 맹렬한 불과 같이 네 앞에 나아가신즉 여호와께서 그들을 파하사 네 앞에 엎드러지게 하시리니 여호와께서 네게 말씀하신것 같이 너는 그들을 쫓아내며 속히 멸할 것이라
  But be assured today that the LORD your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the LORD has promised you.

4. 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내신 후에 네가 심중에 이르기를 나의 의로움을 인하여 여호와께서 나를 이 땅으로 인도하여 들여서 그것을 얻게 하셨다 하지 말라 실상은 이 민족들이 악함을 인하여 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내심이니라
  After the LORD your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, "The LORD has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness." No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is going to drive them out before you.

5. 네가 가서 그 땅을 얻음은 너의 의로움을 인함도 아니며 네 마음이 정직함을 인함도 아니요 이 민족들의 악함을 인하여 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내심이라 여호와께서 이같이 하심은 네 열조 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 하신 맹세를 이루려 하심이니라
  It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

6. 그러므로 네가 알 것은 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 이 아름다운 땅을 기업으로 주신 것이 네 의로움을 인함이 아니니라 너는 목이 곧은 백성이니라
  Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

7. 너는 광야에서 네 하나님 여호와를 격노케 하던 일을 잊지 말고 기억하라 네가 애굽 땅에서 나오던 날부터 이 곳에 이르기까지 늘 여호와를 거역하였으되
  Remember this and never forget how you provoked the LORD your God to anger in the desert. From the day you left Egypt until you arrived here, you have been rebellious against the LORD.

8. 호렙 산에서 너희가 여호와를 격노케 하였으므로 여호와께서 진노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨느니라
  At Horeb you aroused the LORD'S wrath so that he was angry enough to destroy you.

9. 그 때에 내가 돌판들 곧 여호와께서 너희와 세우신 언약의 돌판들을 받으려고 산에 올라가서 사십 주야를 산에 거하며 떡도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였더니
  When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.

10. 여호와께서 두 돌판을 내게 주셨나니 그 판의 글은 하나님이 친수로 기록하신 것이요 너희 총회 날에 여호와께서 산상 불 가운데서 너희에게 이르신 모든 말씀이니라
  The LORD gave me two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God. On them were all the commandments the LORD proclaimed to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.

11. 사십 주야가 지난 후에 여호와께서 내게 돌판 곧 언약의 두 돌판을 주시고
  At the end of the forty days and forty nights, the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

12. 내게 이르시되 일어나 여기서 속히 내려가라 네가 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 내 백성이 스스로 부패하여 내가 그들에게 명한 도를 속히 떠나 자기를 위하여 우상을 부어 만들었느니라
  Then the LORD told me, "Go down from here at once, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have become corrupt. They have turned away quickly from what I commanded them and have made a cast idol for themselves."

13. 여호와께서 또 내게 일러 가라사대 내가 이 백성을 보았노라 보라 이는 목이 곧은 백성이니라
  And the LORD said to me, "I have seen this people, and they are a stiff-necked people indeed!

14. 나를 막지 말라 내가 그들을 멸하여 그 이름을 천하에서 도말하고 너로 그들보다 강대한 나라가 되게 하리라 하시기로
  Let me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven. And I will make you into a nation stronger and more numerous than they."

15. 내가 돌이켜 산에서 내려오는데 산에는 불이 붙었고 언약의 두 돌판은 내 손에 있었느니라
  So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.

16. 내가 본즉 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와께 범죄하여 자기를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들어서 급속히 여호와의 명하신 도를 떠났기로
  When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the LORD your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the LORD had commanded you.

17. 내가 그 두 돌판을 내 두 손에서 들어 던져 너희의 목전에서 깨뜨렸었노라
  So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes.

18. 그리고 내가 전과 같이 사십 주야를 여호와 앞에 엎드려서 떡도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였으니 이는 너희가 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하여 그를 격노케 하여 크게 죄를 얻었음이라
  Then once again I fell prostrate before the LORD for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the LORD'S sight and so provoking him to anger.

19. 여호와께서 심히 분노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨으므로 내가 두려워하였었노라 그러나 여호와께서 그 때에도 내 말을 들으셨고
  I feared the anger and wrath of the LORD, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the LORD listened to me.

20. 여호와께서 또 아론에게 진노하사 그를 멸하려 하셨으므로 내가 그 때에도 아론을 위하여 기도하고
  And the LORD was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him, but at that time I prayed for Aaron too.

21. 너희의 죄 곧 너희의 만든 송아지를 취하여 불살라 찧고 티끌같이 가늘게 갈아 그 가루를 산에서 흘러내리는 시내에 뿌렸었느니라
  Also I took that sinful thing of yours, the calf you had made, and burned it in the fire. Then I crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust and threw the dust into a stream that flowed down the mountain.

22. 너희가 다베라와 맛사와 기브롯 핫다아와에서도 여호와를 격노케 하였느니라
  You also made the LORD angry at Taberah, at Massah and at Kibroth Hattaavah.

23. 여호와께서 너희를 가데스 바네아에서 떠나게 하실 때에 이르시기를 너희는 올라가서 내가 너희에게 준 땅을 얻으라 하시되 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와의 명령을 거역하여 믿지 아니하고 그 말씀을 듣지 아니하였나니
  And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, he said, "Go up and take possession of the land I have given you." But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You did not trust him or obey him.

24. 내가 너희를 알던 날부터 오므로 너희가 항상 여호와를 거역하였느니라
  You have been rebellious against the LORD ever since I have known you.

25. 그 때에 여호와께서 너희를 멸하겠다 하셨으므로 내가 여전히 사십 주야를 여호와 앞에 엎드리고
  I lay prostrate before the LORD those forty days and forty nights because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

26. 여호와께 간구하여 가로되 주 여호와여 주께서 큰 위엄으로 속하시고 강한 손으로 애굽에서 인도하여 내신 주의 백성 곧 주의 기업을 멸하지 마옵소서
  I prayed to the LORD and said, "O Sovereign LORD, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

27. 주의 종 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 생각하사 이 백성의 강퍅과 악과 죄를 보지 마옵소서
  Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overlook the stubbornness of this people, their wickedness and their sin.

28. 주께서 우리를 인도하여 내신 그 땅 백성이 말하기를 여호와께서 그들에게 허락하신 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들일 능력도 없고 그들을 미워도 하사 광야에서 죽이려고 인도하여 내셨다 할까 두려워하나이다
  Otherwise, the country from which you brought us will say, 'Because the LORD was not able to take them into the land he had promised them, and because he hated them, he brought them out to put them to death in the desert.'

29. 그들은 주의 큰 능력과 펴신 팔로 인도하여 내신 주의 백성 곧 주의 기업이로소이다 하였었노라
  But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm."

시편 92-93

1. 지존자여 십현금과 비파와 수금의 정숙한 소리로 여호와께 감사하며 주의 이름을 찬양하며 아침에 주의 인자하심을 나타내며 밤마다 주의 성실하심을 베풂이 좋으니이다
  A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

2. 1절과 같음
  to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

3. 1절과 같음
  to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.

4. 여호와여 주의 행사로 나를 기쁘게 하셨으니 주의 손의 행사를 인하여 내가 높이 부르리이다
  For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.

5. 여호와여 주의 행사가 어찌 그리 크신지요 주의 생각이 심히 깊으시니이다
  How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

6. 우준한 자는 알지 못하며 무지한 자도 이를 깨닫지 못하나이다
  The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand,

7. 악인은 풀 같이 생장하고 죄악을 행하는 자는 다 흥왕할찌라도 영원히 멸망하리이다
  that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.

8. 여호와여 주는 영원토록 지존하시니이다
  But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.

9. 여호와여 주의 원수 곧 주의 원수가 패망하리니 죄악을 행하는 자는 다 흩어지리이다
  For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

10. 그러나 주께서 내 뿔을 들소의 뿔같이 높이셨으며 내게 신선한 기름으로 부으셨나이다
  You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured upon me.

11. 내 원수의 보응받는 것을 내 눈으로 보며 일어나 나를 치는 행악자에게 보응하심을 내 귀로 들었도다
  My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12. 의인은 종려나무같이 번성하며 레바논의 백향목같이 발육하리로다
  The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

13. 여호와의 집에 심겼음이여 우리 하나님의 궁정에서 흥왕하리로다
  planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

14. 늙어도 결실하며 진액이 풍족하고 빛이 청청하여
  They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

15. 여호와의 정직하심을 나타내리로다 여호와는 나의 바위시라 그에게는 불의가 없도다
  proclaiming, "The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."

1. 여호와께서 통치하시니 스스로 권위를 입으셨도다 여호와께서 능력을 입으시며 띠셨으므로 세계도 견고히 서서 요동치 아니하도다
  The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

2. 주의 보좌는 예로부터 견고히 섰으며 주는 영원부터 계셨나이다
  Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

3. 여호와여 큰 물이 소리를 높였고 큰 물이 그 소리를 높였고 큰 물이 그 물결을 높이나이다
  The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

4. 높이 계신 여호와의 능력은 많은 물 소리와 바다의 큰 파도보다 위대하시니이다
  Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea--the LORD on high is mighty.

5. 여호와여 주의 증거하심이 확실하고 거룩함이 주의 집에 합당하여 영구하리이다
  Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 37

1. 히스기야 왕이 듣고 그 옷을 찢고 굵은 베를 입고 여호와의 전으로 갔고
  When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD.

2. 궁내대신 엘리아김과 서기관 셉나와 제사장 중 어른들도 굵은 베를 입으니라 왕이 그들을 아모스의 아들 선지자 이사야에게로 보내매
  He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

3. 그들이 이사야에게 이르되 히스기야의 말씀에 오늘은 환난과 책벌과 능욕의 날이라 아이를 낳으려 하나 해산할 힘이 없음 같도다
  They told him, "This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.

4. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 랍사게의 말을 들으셨을 것이라 그가 그 주 앗수르 왕의 보냄을 받고 사시는 하나님을 훼방하였은즉 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 혹시 그 말에 견책하실까 하노라 그런즉 바라건대 당신은 이 남아 있는 자를 위하여 기도하라 하시더이다
  It may be that the LORD your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives."

5. 이와 같이 히스기야 왕의 신하들이 이사야에게 나아가매
  When King Hezekiah's officials came to Isaiah,

6. 이사야가 그들에게 이르되 너희는 너희 주에게 이렇게 고하라 여호와께서 말씀하시되 너희의 들은 바 앗수르 왕의 종들이 나를 능욕한 말을 인하여 두려워 말라
  Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard--those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

7. 보라 내가 신을 그의 속에 두리니 그가 풍성을 듣고 그 고토로 돌아갈 것이며 또 내가 그를 그 고토에서 칼에 죽게 하리라 하셨느니라
  Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.'"

8. 랍사게가 앗수르 왕이 라기스를 떠났다 함을 듣고 돌아가다가 그 왕이 립나 치는 것을 만나니라
  When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.

9. 그 때에 앗수르 왕이 구스 왕 디르하가의 일에 대하여 들은즉 이르기를 그가 나와서 왕과 싸우려 한다 하는지라 이 말을 듣고 사자들을 히스기야에게 보내며 가로되
  Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the Cushite king of Egypt, was marching out to fight against him. When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word:

10. 너희는 유다 왕 히스기야에게 이같이 고하여 이르기를 너는 너의 의뢰하는 하나님이 예루살렘이 앗수르 왕의 손에 넘어가지 아니하리라 하는 말에 속지 말라
  "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.'

11. 앗수르 왕들이 모든 나라에 어떤 일을 행하였으며 그것을 어떻게 멸절시켰는지 네가 들었으리니 네가 건짐을 얻겠느냐
  Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

12. 나의 열조가 멸하신 열방 고산과 하란과 레셉과 및 들라살에 거하는 에덴 자손을 그 나라 신들이 건졌더냐
  Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them--the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?

13. 하맛 왕과 아르밧 왕과 스발와임 성의 왕과 헤나 왕과 이와 왕이 어디 있느냐 하라 하였더라
  Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?"

14. 히스기야가 사자의 손에서 글을 받아 보고 여호와의 전에 올라가서 그 글을 여호와 앞에 펴놓고
  Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.

15. 여호와께 기도하여 가로되
  And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD:

16. 그룹 사이에 계신 이스라엘 하나님 만군의 여호와여 주는 천하 만국의 유일하신 하나님이시라 주께서 천지를 조성하셨나이다
  "O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

17. 여호와여 귀를 기울여 들으시옵소서 여호와여 눈을 떠 보시옵소서 산헤립이 사자로 사시는 하나님을 훼방한 모든 말을 들으시옵소서
  Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to all the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.

18. 여호와여 앗수르 왕들이 과연 열국과 그 땅을 황폐케 하였고
  "It is true, O LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands.

19. 그들의 신들을 불에 던졌사오나 이들은 참 신이 아니라 사람의 손으로 만든 것뿐이요 나무와 돌이라 그러므로 멸망을 당하였나이다
  They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.

20. 우리 하나님 여호와여 이제 우리를 그의 손에서 구원하사 천하 만국으로 주만 여호와이신 줄을 알게 하옵소서
  Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God."

21. 아모스의 아들 이사야가 보내어 히스기야에게 이르되 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 말씀하시되 네가 앗수르 왕 산헤립의 일로 내게 기도하였도다 하시고
  Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,

22. 여호와께서 그에 대하여 이같이 이르시되 처녀 딸 시온이 너를 멸시하며 조소하였고 딸 예루살렘이 너를 향하여 머리를 흔들었느니라
  this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: "The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.

23. 네가 훼방하며 능욕한 것은 누구에게냐 네가 소리를 높이며 눈을 높이 들어 향한 것은 누구에게냐 곧 이스라엘의 거룩한 자에게니라
  Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

24. 네가 네 종으로 주를 훼방하여 이르기를 내가 나의 허다한 병거를 거느리고 산들의 꼭대기에 올라가며 레바논의 깊은 곳에 이르렀으니 높은 백향목과 아름다운 향나무를 베고 또 그 한계 되는 높은 곳에 들어가며 살진 땅의 수풀에 이를 것이며
  By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord. And you have said, 'With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.

25. 내가 우물을 파서 물을 마셨으니 나의 발바닥으로 애굽의 모든 하수를 밟아 말리리라 하였도다
  I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.'

26. 네가 어찌 듣지 못하였겠느냐 이 일들은 내가 태초부터 행한 바요 상고부터 정한 바로서 이제 내가 이루어 너로 견고한 성을 헐어 돌무더기가 되게 하였노라
  "Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.

27. 그러므로 그 거민들이 힘이 약하여 놀라며 수치를 당하여 들의 풀같이, 푸른 나물같이, 지붕의 풀같이, 자라지 못한 곡초 같았었느니라
  Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.

28. 네 거처와 네 출입과 나를 거스려 분노함을 내가 아노라
  "But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me.

29. 네가 나를 거스려 분노함과 네 오만함이 내 귀에 들렸으므로 내가 갈고리로 네 코를 꿰며 자갈을 네 입에 먹여 너를 오던 길로 돌아가게 하리라 하셨나이다
  Because you rage against me and because your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.

30. 왕이여 이것이 왕에게 징조가 되리니 금년에는 스스로 난 것을 먹을 것이요 제 이 년에는 또 거기서 난 것을 먹을 것이요 제 삼 년에는 심고 거두며 포도나무를 심고 그 열매를 먹을 것이니이다
  "This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

31. 유다 족속 중에 피하여 남는 자는 다시 아래로 뿌리를 박고 위로 열매를 맺히리니
  Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.

32. 이는 남는 자가 예루살렘에서 나오며 피하는 자가 시온에서 나올 것임이라 만군의 여호와의 열심이 이를 이루시리이다
  For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

33. 그러므로 여호와께서 앗수르 왕에 대하여 가라사대 그가 이 성에 이르지 못하며 한 살도 이리로 쏘지 못하며 방패를 가지고 성에 가까이 오지도 못하며 흉벽을 쌓고 치지도 못할 것이요
  "Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria: "He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.

34. 그가 오던 길 곧 그 길로 돌아가고 이 성에 이르지 못하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city," declares the LORD.

35. 대저 내가 나를 위하며 내 종 다윗을 위하여 이 성을 보호하며 구원하리라 하셨나이다
  "I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!"

36. 여호와의 사자가 나가서 앗수르 진중에서 십팔만 오천 인을 쳤으므로 아침에 일찌기 일어나 본즉 시체뿐이라
  Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!

37. 이에 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 떠나 돌아가서 니느웨에 거하더니
  So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

38. 자기 신 니스록의 묘에서 경배할 때에 그 아들 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 그를 칼로 죽이고 아라랏 땅으로 도망한 고로 그 아들 에살핫돈이 이어 왕이 되니라
  One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

요한계시록 7

1. 이 일 후에 내가 네 천사가 땅 네 모퉁이에 선 것을 보니 땅의 사방의 바람을 붙잡아 바람으로 하여금 땅에나 바다에나 각종 나무에 불지 못하게 하더라
  After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

2. 또 보매 다른 천사가 살아 계신 하나님의 인을 가지고 해 돋는 데로부터 올라와서 땅과 바다를 해롭게 할 권세를 얻은 네 천사를 향하여 큰 소리로 외쳐
  Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:

3. 가로되 우리가 우리 하나님의 종들의 이마에 인치기까지 땅이나 바다나 나무나 해하지 말라 하더라
  "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

4. 내가 인 맞은 자의 수를 들으니 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파 중에서 인 맞은 자들이 십사만 사천이니
  Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

5. 유다 지파 중에 인 맞은 자가 일만 이천이요 르우벤 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 갓 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

6. 아셀 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 납달리 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 므낫세 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  from the tribe of Asher 12,000, from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000, from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

7. 시므온 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 레위 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 잇사갈 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

8. 스불론 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 요셉 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 베냐민 지파 중에 인 맞은 자가 일만 이천이라
  from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

9. 이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무라도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 흰 옷을 입고 손에 종려가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서
  After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

10. 큰 소리로 외쳐 가로되 구원하심이 보좌에 앉으신 우리 하나님과 어린 양에게 있도다 하니
  And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

11. 모든 천사가 보좌와 장로들과 네 생물의 주위에 섰다가 보좌 앞에 엎드려 얼굴을 대고 하나님께 경배하여
  All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

12. 가로되 아멘 찬송과 영광과 지혜와 감사와 존귀와 능력과 힘이 우리 하나님께 세세토록 있을찌로다 아멘 하더라
  saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

13. 장로 중에 하나가 응답하여 내게 이르되 이 흰 옷 입은 자들이 누구며 또 어디서 왔느뇨
  Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes--who are they, and where did they come from?"

14. 내가 가로되 내 주여 당신이 알리이다 하니 그가 나더러 이르되 이는 큰 환난에서 나오는 자들인데 어린 양의 피에 그 옷을 씻어 희게 하였느니라
  I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15. 그러므로 그들이 하나님의 보좌 앞에 있고 또 그의 성전에서 밤낮 하나님을 섬기매 보좌에 앉으신 이가 그들 위에 장막을 치시리니
  Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

16. 저희가 다시 주리지도 아니하며 목마르지도 아니하고 해나 아무 뜨거운 기운에 상하지 아니할찌니
  Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.

17. 이는 보좌 가운데 계신 어린 양이 저희의 목자가 되사 생명수 샘으로 인도하시고 하나님께서 저희 눈에서 모든 눈물을 씻어 주실 것임이러라
  For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
