신명기 5

1. 모세가 온 이스라엘을 불러 그들에게 이르되 이스라엘아 오늘 내가 너희 귀에 말하는 규례와 법도를 듣고 그것을 배우며 지켜 행하라
  Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them.

2. 우리 하나님 여호와께서 호렙 산에서 우리와 언약을 세우셨나니
  The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

3. 이 언약은 여호와께서 우리 열조와 세우신 것이 아니요 오늘날 여기 살아 있는 우리 곧 우리와 세우신 것이라
  It was not with our fathers that the LORD made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.

4. 여호와께서 산 위 불 가운데서 너희와 대면하여 말씀하시매
  The LORD spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.

5. 그 때에 너희가 불을 두려워하여 산에 오르지 못하므로 내가 여호와와 너희 중간에 서서 여호와의 말씀을 너희에게 전하였노라 여호와께서 가라사대
  (At that time I stood between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:

6. 나는 너를 애굽 땅에서 종 되었던 집에서 인도하여 낸 너희 하나님 여호와로라
  "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

7. 나 외에는 위하는 신들을 네게 있게 말찌니라
  "You shall have no other gods before me.

8. 너는 자기를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅 밑 물 속에 있는 것의 아무 형상이든지 만들지 말며
  "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

9. 그것들에게 절하지 말며 그것들을 섬기지 말라 나 여호와 너의 하나님은 질투하는 하나님인즉 나를 미워하는 자의 죄를 갚되 아비로부터 아들에게로 삼 사대까지 이르게 하거니와
  You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

10. 나를 사랑하고 내 계명을 지키는 자에게는 천 대까지 은혜를 베푸느니라
  but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11. 너는 너의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 망령되이 일컫지 말라 나 여호와는 나의 이름을 망령되이 일컫는 자를 죄 없는 줄로 인정치 아니하리라
  "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

12. 여호와 너의 하나님이 네게 명한 대로 안식일을 지켜 거룩하게 하라
  "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

13. 엿새 동안은 힘써 네 모든 일을 행할 것이나
  Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

14. 제 칠일은 너의 하나님 여호와의 안식인즉 너나 네 아들이나 네 딸이나 네 남종이나 네 여종이나 네 소나 네 나귀나 네 모든 육축이나 네 문 안에 유하는 객이라도 아무 일도 하지 말고 네 남종이나 네 여종으로 너 같이 안식하게 할찌니라
  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do.

15. 너는 기억하라 네가 애굽 땅에서 종이 되었더니 너의 하나님 여호와가 강한 손과 편 팔로 너를 거기서 인도하여 내었나니 그러므로 너의 하나님 여호와가 너를 명하여 안식일을 지키라 하느니라
  Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

16. 너는 너의 하나님 여호와의 명한 대로 네 부모를 공경하라 그리하면 너의 하나님 여호와가 네게 준 땅에서 네가 생명이 길고 복을 누리리라
  "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

17. 살인하지 말찌니라
  "You shall not murder.

18. 간음하지도 말찌니라
  "You shall not commit adultery.

19. 도적질 하지도 말찌니라
  "You shall not steal.

20. 네 이웃에 대하여 거짓 증거하지도 말찌니라
  "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

21. 네 이웃의 아내를 탐내지도 말찌니라 네 이웃의 집이나 그의 밭이나 그의 남종이나 그의 여종이나 그의 소나 그의 나귀나 무릇 네 이웃의 소유를 탐내지도 말찌니라
  "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

22. 여호와께서 이 모든 말씀을 산 위 불 가운데, 구름 가운데, 흑암 가운데서 큰 음성으로 너희 총회에 이르신 후에 더 말씀하지 아니하시고 그것을 두 돌판에 써서 내게 주셨느니라
  These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

23. 산이 불에 타며 캄캄한 가운데서 나오는 그 소리를 너희가 듣고 너희 지파의 두령과 장로들이 내게 나아와
  When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leading men of your tribes and your elders came to me.

24. 말하되 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그 영광과 위엄을 우리에게 보이시매 불 가운데서 나오는 음성을 우리가 들었고 하나님이 사람과 말씀하시되 그 사람이 생존하는 것을 오늘날 우리가 보았나이다
  And you said, "The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.

25. 이제 우리가 죽을 까닭이 무엇이니이까 이 큰 불이 우리를 삼킬 것이요 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와의 음성을 다시 들으면 죽을 것이라
  But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer.

26. 무릇 육신을 가진 자가 우리처럼 사시는 하나님의 음성이 불 가운데서 발함을 듣고 생존한 자가 누구니이까
  For what mortal man has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?

27. 당신은 가까이 나아가서 우리 하나님 여호와의 하시는 말씀을 다 듣고 우리 하나님 여호와의 당신에게 이르시는 것을 다 우리에게 전하소서 우리가 듣고 행하겠나이다 하였느니라
  Go near and listen to all that the LORD our God says. Then tell us whatever the LORD our God tells you. We will listen and obey."

28. 여호와께서 너희가 내게 말할 때에 너희의 말하는 소리를 들으신지라 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 이 백성이 네게 말하는 그 말소리를 내가 들은즉 그 말이 다 옳도다
  The LORD heard you when you spoke to me and the LORD said to me, "I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good.

29. 다만 그들이 항상 이같은 마음을 품어 나를 경외하며 나의 모든 명령을 지켜서 그들과 그 자손이 영원히 복 받기를 원하노라
  Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

30. 가서 그들에게 각기 장막으로 돌아가라 이르고
  "Go, tell them to return to their tents.

31. 너는 여기 내 곁에 섰으라 내가 모든 명령과 규례와 법도를 네게 이르리니 너는 그것을 그들에게 가르쳐서 내가 그들에게 기업으로 주는 땅에서 그들로 이를 행하게 하라 하셨나니
  But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess."

32. 그런즉 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 명령하신 대로 너희는 삼가 행하여 좌로나 우로나 치우치지 말고
  So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.

33. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 명하신 모든 도를 행하라 그리하면 너희가 삶을 얻고 복을 얻어서 너희의 얻은 땅에서 너희의 날이 장구하리라
  Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

시편 88

1. 여호와 내 구원의 하나님이여 내가 주야로 주의 앞에 부르짖었사오니
  A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. For the director of music. According to mahalath leannoth. A maskil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.

2. 나의 기도로 주의 앞에 달하게 하시며 주의 귀를 나의 부르짖음에 기울이소서
  May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry.

3. 대저 나의 영혼에 곤란이 가득하며 나의 생명은 음부에 가까왔사오니
  For my soul is full of trouble and my life draws near the grave.

4. 나는 무덤에 내려가는 자와 함께 인정되고 힘이 없는 사람과 같으며
  I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like a man without strength.

5. 사망자 중에 던지운 바 되었으며 살륙을 당하여 무덤에 누운 자 같으니이다 주께서 저희를 다시 기억지 아니하시니 저희는 주의 손에서 끊어진 자니이다
  I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care.

6. 주께서 나를 깊은 웅덩이 어두운 곳 음침한 데 두셨사오며
  You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths.

7. 주의 노가 나를 심히 누르시고 주의 모든 파도로 나를 괴롭게 하셨나이다 (셀라)
  Your wrath lies heavily upon me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. Selah

8. 주께서 나의 아는 자로 내게서 멀리 떠나게 하시고 나로 저희에게 가증되게 하셨사오니 나는 갇혀서 나갈 수 없게 되었나이다
  You have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot escape;

9. 곤란으로 인하여 내 눈이 쇠하였나이다 여호와여 내가 매일 주께 부르며 주를 향하여 나의 두 손을 들었나이다
  my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you.

10. 주께서 사망한 자에게 기사를 보이시겠나이까 유혼이 일어나 주를 찬송하리이까 (셀라)
  Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do those who are dead rise up and praise you? Selah

11. 주의 인자하심을 무덤에서, 주의 성실하심을 멸망 중에서 선포할 수 있으리이까
  Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction?

12. 흑암 중에서 주의 기사와 잊음의 땅에서 주의 의를 알 수 있으리이까
  Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?

13. 여호와여 오직 주께 내가 부르짖었사오니 아침에 나의 기도가 주의 앞에 달하리이다
  But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

14. 여호와여 어찌하여 나의 영혼을 버리시며 어찌하여 주의 얼굴을 내게 숨기시나이까
  Why, O LORD, do you reject me and hide your face from me?

15. 내가 소시부터 곤란을 당하여 죽게 되었사오며 주의 두렵게 하심을 당할 때에 황망하였나이다
  From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death; I have suffered your terrors and am in despair.

16. 주의 진노가 내게 넘치고 주의 두렵게 하심이 나를 끊었나이다
  Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me.

17. 이런 일이 물같이 종일 나를 에우며 함께 나를 둘렀나이다
  All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me.

18. 주께서 나의 사랑하는 자와 친구를 내게서 멀리 떠나게 하시며 나의 아는 자를 흑암에 두셨나이다
  You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 33

1. 화 있을찐저 너 학대를 당치 아니하고도 학대하며 속임을 입지 아니하고도 속이는 자여 네가 학대하기를 마치면 네가 학대를 당할 것이며 네가 속이기를 그치면 사람이 너를 속이리라
  Woe to you, O destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, O traitor, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.

2. 여호와여 우리에게 은혜를 베푸소서 우리가 주를 앙망하오니 주는 아침마다 우리의 팔이 되시며 환난 때에 우리의 구원이 되소서
  O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

3. 진동시키시는 소리로 인하여 민족들이 도망하며 주께서 일어나심으로 인하여 열방이 흩어졌나이다
  At the thunder of your voice, the peoples flee; when you rise up, the nations scatter.

4. 황충의 모임같이 사람이 너희 노략물을 모을 것이며 메뚜기의 뛰어오름같이 그들이 그 위로 뛰어오르리라
  Your plunder, O nations, is harvested as by young locusts; like a swarm of locusts men pounce on it.

5. 여호와께서는 지존하시니 이는 높은 데 거하심이요 공평과 의로 시온에 충만케 하심이라
  The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.

6. 너의 시대에 평안함이 있으며 구원과 지혜와 지식이 풍성할 것이니 여호와를 경외함이 너의 보배니라
  He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

7. 보라 그들의 용사가 밖에서 부르짖으며 평화의 사신들이 슬피 곡하며
  Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.

8. 대로가 황폐하여 행인이 끊치며 대적이 조약을 파하고 성읍들을 멸시하며 사람을 생각지 아니하며
  The highways are deserted, no travelers are on the roads. The treaty is broken, its witnesses are despised, no one is respected.

9. 땅이 슬퍼하고 쇠잔하며 레바논은 부끄러워 마르고 사론은 사막과 같고 바산과 갈멜은 목엽을 떨어치는도다
  The land mourns and wastes away, Lebanon is ashamed and withers; Sharon is like the Arabah, and Bashan and Carmel drop their leaves.

10. 여호와께서 가라사대 내가 이제 일어나며 내가 이제 나를 높이며 내가 이제 지극히 높이우리니
  "Now will I arise," says the LORD. "Now will I be exalted; now will I be lifted up.

11. 너희가 겨를 잉태하고 짚을 해산할 것이며 너희의 호흡은 불이 되어 너희를 삼킬 것이며
  You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw; your breath is a fire that consumes you.

12. 민족들은 불에 굽는 횟돌 같겠고 베어서 불에 사르는 가시나무 같으리로다
  The peoples will be burned as if to lime; like cut thornbushes they will be set ablaze."

13. 너희 먼 데 있는 자들아 나의 행한 것을 들으라 너희 가까이 있는 자들아 나의 권능을 알라
  You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my power!

14. 시온의 죄인들이 두려워하며 경건치 아니한 자들이 떨며 이르기를 우리 중에 누가 삼키는 불과 함께 거하겠으며 우리 중에 누가 영영히 타는 것과 함께 거하리요 하도다
  The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless: "Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?"

15. 오직 의롭게 행하는 자, 정직히 말하는 자, 토색한 재물을 가증히 여기는 자, 손을 흔들어 뇌물을 받지 아니하는 자, 귀를 막아 피 흘리려는 꾀를 듣지 아니하는 자, 눈을 감아 악을 보지 아니하는 자,
  He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil--

16. 그는 높은 곳에 거하리니 견고한 바위가 그 보장이 되며 그 양식은 공급되고 그 물은 끊치지 아니하리라 하셨느니라
  this is the man who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail him.

17. 너의 눈은 그 영광 중의 왕을 보며 광활한 땅을 목도하겠고
  Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar.

18. 너의 마음에는 두려워하던 것을 생각하여 내리라 계산하던 자가 어디 있느냐 공세를 칭량하던 자가 어디 있느냐 망대를 계수하던 자가 어디 있느냐
  In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: "Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?"

19. 네가 강포한 백성을 다시 보지 아니하리라 그 백성은 방언이 어려워서 네가 알아듣지 못하며 말이 이상하여 네가 깨닫지 못하는 자니라
  You will see those arrogant people no more, those people of an obscure speech, with their strange, incomprehensible tongue.

20. 우리의 절기 지키는 시온 성을 보라 네 눈에 안정한 처소 된 예루살렘이 보이리니 그것은 옮겨지지 아니할 장막이라 그 말뚝이 영영히 뽑히지 아니할 것이요 그 줄이 하나도 끊치지 아니할 것이며
  Look upon Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved; its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes broken.

21. 여호와께서는 거기서 위엄 중에 우리와 함께 계시리니 그 곳은 마치 노질하는 배나 큰 배가 통행치 못할 넓은 하수나 강이 둘림 같을 것이라
  There the LORD will be our Mighty One. It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams. No galley with oars will ride them, no mighty ship will sail them.

22. 대저 여호와는 우리 재판장이시요 여호와는 우리에게 율법을 세우신 자시요 여호와는 우리의 왕이시니 우리를 구원하실 것임이니라
  For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us.

23. 너의 돛대 줄이 풀렸었고 돛대 밑을 튼튼히 하지 못하였었고 돛을 달지 못하였었느니라 때가 되면 많은 재물을 탈취하여 나누리니 저는 자도 그 재물을 취할 것이며
  Your rigging hangs loose: The mast is not held secure, the sail is not spread. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided and even the lame will carry off plunder.

24. 그 거민은 내가 병들었노라 하지 아니할 것이라 거기 거하는 백성이 사죄함을 받으리라
  No one living in Zion will say, "I am ill"; and the sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.

요한계시록 3

1. 사데 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 하나님의 일곱 영과 일곱 별을 가진 이가 가라사대 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 살았다 하는 이름은 가졌으나 죽은 자로다
  "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

2. 너는 일깨워 그 남은 바 죽게 된 것을 굳게 하라 내 하나님 앞에 네 행위의 온전한 것을 찾지 못하였노니
  Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.

3. 그러므로 네가 어떻게 받았으며 어떻게 들었는지 생각하고 지키어 회개하라 만일 일깨지 아니하면 내가 도적같이 이르리니 어느 시에 네게 임할는지 네가 알지 못하리라
  Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

4. 그러나 사데에 그 옷을 더럽히지 아니한 자 몇 명이 네게 있어 흰 옷을 입고 나와 함께 다니리니 그들은 합당한 자인 연고라
  Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.

5. 이기는 자는 이와 같이 흰 옷을 입을 것이요 내가 그 이름을 생명책에서 반드시 흐리지 아니하고 그 이름을 내 아버지 앞과 그 천사들 앞에서 시인하리라
  He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

6. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

7. 빌라델비아 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 거룩하고 진실하사 다윗의 열쇠를 가지신 이 곧 열면 닫을 사람이 없고 닫으면 열 사람이 없는 그이가 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

8. 볼찌어다 내가 네 앞에 열린 문을 두었으되 능히 닫을 사람이 없으리라 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 적은 능력을 가지고도 내 말을 지키며 내 이름을 배반치 아니하였도다
  I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

9. 보라 사단의 회 곧 자칭 유대인이라 하나 그렇지 않고 거짓말 하는 자들 중에서 몇을 네게 주어 저희로 와서 네 발 앞에 절하게 하고 내가 너를 사랑하는 줄을 알게 하리라
  I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.

10. 네가 나의 인내의 말씀을 지켰은즉 내가 또한 너를 지키어 시험의 때를 면하게 하리니 이는 장차 온 세상에 임하여 땅에 거하는 자들을 시험할 때라
  Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

11. 내가 속히 임하리니 네가 가진 것을 굳게 잡아 아무나 네 면류관을 빼앗지 못하게 하라
  I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

12. 이기는 자는 내 하나님 성전에 기둥이 되게 하리니 그가 결코 다시 나가지 아니하리라 내가 하나님의 이름과 하나님의 성 곧 하늘에서 내 하나님께로부터 내려오는 새 예루살렘의 이름과 나의 새 이름을 그이 위에 기록하리라
  Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

13. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

14. 라오디게아 교회의 사자에게 편지하기를 아멘이시요 충성되고 참된 증인이시요 하나님의 창조의 근본이신 이가 가라사대
  "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.

15. 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 차지도 아니하고 더웁지도 아니하도다 네가 차든지 더웁든지 하기를 원하노라
  I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

16. 네가 이같이 미지근하여 더웁지도 아니하고 차지도 아니하니 내 입에서 너를 토하여 내치리라
  So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

17. 네가 말하기를 나는 부자라 부요하여 부족한 것이 없다 하나 네 곤고한 것과 가련한 것과 가난한 것과 눈먼 것과 벌거벗은 것을 알지 못하도다
  You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

18. 내가 너를 권하노니 내게서 불로 연단한 금을 사서 부요하게 하고 흰 옷을 사서 입어 벌거벗은 수치를 보이지 않게 하고 안약을 사서 눈에 발라 보게 하라
  I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19. 무릇 내가 사랑하는 자를 책망하여 징계하노니 그러므로 네가 열심을 내라 회개하라
  Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.

20. 볼찌어다 내가 문밖에 서서 두드리노니 누구든지 내 음성을 듣고 문을 열면 내가 그에게로 들어가 그로 더불어 먹고 그는 나로 더불어 먹으리라
  Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

21. 이기는 그에게는 내가 내 보좌에 함께 앉게 하여 주기를 내가 이기고 아버지 보좌에 함께 앉은 것과 같이 하리라
  To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

22. 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다
  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
