민수기 12-13

1. 모세가 구스 여자를 취하였더니 그 구스 여자를 취하였으므로 미리암과 아론이 모세를 비방하니라
  Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.

2. 그들이 이르되 여호와께서 모세와만 말씀하셨느냐 우리와도 말씀하지 아니하셨느냐 하매 여호와께서 이 말을 들으셨더라
  "Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?" they asked. "Hasn't he also spoken through us?" And the LORD heard this.

3. 이 사람 모세는 온유함이 지면의 모든 사람보다 승하더라
  (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)

4. 여호와께서 갑자기 모세와 아론과 미리암에게 이르시되 너희 삼 인은 회막으로 나아오라 하시니 그 삼 인이 나아가매
  At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Come out to the Tent of Meeting, all three of you." So the three of them came out.

5. 여호와께서 구름 기둥 가운데로서 강림하사 장막문에 서시고 아론과 미리암을 부르시는지라 그 두 사람이 나아가매
  Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the Tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When both of them stepped forward,

6. 이르시되 내 말을 들으라 너희 중에 선지자가 있으면 나 여호와가 이상으로 나를 그에게 알리기도 하고 꿈으로 그와 말하기도 하거니와
  he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams.

7. 내 종 모세와는 그렇지 아니하니 그는 나의 온 집에 충성됨이라
  But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.

8. 그와는 내가 대면하여 명백히 말하고 은밀한 말로 아니하며 그는 또 여호와의 형상을 보겠거늘 너희가 어찌하여 내 종 모세 비방하기를 두려워 아니하느냐
  With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"

9. 여호와께서 그들을 향하여 진노하시고 떠나시매
  The anger of the LORD burned against them, and he left them.

10. 구름이 장막 위에서 떠나갔고 미리암은 문둥병이 들려 눈과 같더라 아론이 미리암을 본즉 문둥병이 들었는지라
  When the cloud lifted from above the Tent, there stood Miriam--leprous, like snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had leprosy;

11. 아론이 이에 모세에게 이르되 슬프다 내 주여 우리가 우매한 일을 하여 죄를 얻었으나 청컨대 그 허물을 우리에게 돌리지 마소서
  and he said to Moses, "Please, my lord, do not hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.

12. 그로 살이 반이나 썩고 죽어서 모태에서 나온 자같이 되게 마옵소서
  Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother's womb with its flesh half eaten away."

13. 모세가 여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 하나님이여 원컨대 그를 고쳐 주옵소서
  So Moses cried out to the LORD, "O God, please heal her!"

14. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 그의 아비가 그의 얼굴에 침을 뱉았을찌라도 그가 칠일간 부끄러워하지 않겠느냐 그런즉 그를 진밖에 칠일을 가두고 그 후에 들어오게 할찌니라 하시니
  The LORD replied to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back."

15. 이에 미리암이 진 밖에 칠 일 동안 갇혔고 백성은 그를 다시 들어오게 하기까지 진행치 아니하다가
  So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

16. 그 후에 백성이 하세롯에서 진행하여 바란 광야에 진을 치니라
  After that, the people left Hazeroth and encamped in the Desert of Paran.

1. 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대
  The LORD said to Moses,

2. 사람을 보내어 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 가나안 땅을 탐지하게 하되 그 종족의 각 지파 중에서 족장 된 자 한 사람씩 보내라
  "Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders."

3. 모세가 여호와의 명을 좇아 바란 광야에서 그들을 보내었으니 그들은 다 이스라엘 자손의 두령 된 사람이라
  So at the LORD'S command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites.

4. 그들의 이름은 이러하니라 르우벤 지파에서는 삭굴의 아들 삼무아요
  These are their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;

5. 시므온 지파에서는 호리의 아들 사밧이요
  from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;

6. 유다 지파에서는 여분네의 아들 갈렙이요
  from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

7. 잇사갈 지파에서는 요셉의 아들 이갈이요
  from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;

8. 에브라임 지파에서는 눈의 아들 호세아요
  from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;

9. 베냐민 지파에서는 라부의 아들 발디요
  from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;

10. 스불론 지파에서는 소디의 아들 갓디엘이요
  from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;

11. 요셉 지파 곧 므낫세 지파에서는 수시의 아들 갓디요
  from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;

12. 단 지파에서는 그말리의 아들 암미엘이요
  from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;

13. 아셀 지파에서는 미가엘의 아들 스둘이요
  from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;

14. 납달리 지파에서는 웝시의 아들 나비요
  from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;

15. 갓 지파에서는 마기의 아들 그우엘이니
  from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Maki.

16. 이는 모세가 땅을 탐지하러 보낸 자들의 이름이라 모세가 눈의 아들 호세아를 여호수아라 칭하였더라
  These are the names of the men Moses sent to explore the land. (Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.)

17. 모세가 가나안 땅을 탐지하러 그들을 보내며 이르되 너희는 남방 길로 행하여 산지로 올라가서
  When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, "Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country.

18. 그 땅의 어떠함을 탐지하라 곧 그 땅 거민의 강약과 다소와
  See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many.

19. 그들의 거하는 땅의 호불호와 거하는 성읍이 진영인지 산성인지와
  What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified?

20. 토지의 후박과 수목의 유무니라 담대하라 또 그 땅 실과를 가져오라 하니 그 때는 포도가 처음 익을 즈음이었더라
  How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees on it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land." (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)

21. 이에 그들이 올라가서 땅을 탐지하되 신 광야에서부터 하맛 어귀 르홉에 이르렀고
  So they went up and explored the land from the Desert of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo Hamath.

22. 또 남방으로 올라가서 헤브론에 이르렀으니 헤브론은 애굽 소안보다 칠 년 전에 세운 곳이라 그 곳에 아낙 자손 아히만과 세새와 달매가 있었더라
  They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23. 또 에스골 골짜기에 이르러 거기서 포도 한 송이 달린 가지를 베어 둘이 막대기에 꿰어 메고 또 석류와 무화과를 취하니라
  When they reached the Valley of Eshcol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs.

24. 이스라엘 자손이 거기서 포도송이를 벤 고로 그 곳을 에스골 골짜기라 칭하였더라
  That place was called the Valley of Eshcol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there.

25. 사십 일 동안에 땅을 탐지하기를 마치고 돌아와
  At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.

26. 바란 광야 가데스에 이르러 모세와 아론과 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 나아와 그들에게 회보하고 그 땅 실과를 보이고
  They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.

27. 모세에게 보고하여 가로되 당신이 우리를 보낸 땅에 간즉 과연 젖과 꿀이 그 땅에 흐르고 이것은 그 땅의 실과니이다
  They gave Moses this account: "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.

28. 그러나 그 땅 거민은 강하고 성읍은 견고하고 심히 클 뿐 아니라 거기서 아낙 자손을 보았으며
  But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.

29. 아말렉인은 남방 땅에 거하고 헷인과 여부스인과 아모리인은 산지에 거하고 가나안인은 해변과 요단 가에 거하더이다
  The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan."

30. 갈렙이 모세 앞에서 백성을 안돈시켜 가로되 우리가 곧 올라가서 그 땅을 취하자 능히 이기리라 하나
  Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

31. 그와 함께 올라갔던 사람들은 가로되 우리는 능히 올라가서 그 백성을 치지 못하리라 그들은 우리보다 강하니라 하고
  But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are."

32. 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 그 탐지한 땅을 악평하여 가로되 우리가 두루 다니며 탐지한 땅은 그 거민을 삼키는 땅이요 거기서 본 모든 백성은 신장이 장대한 자들이며
  And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, "The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.

33. 거기서 또 네피림 후손 아낙 자손 대장부들을 보았나니 우리는 스스로 보기에도 메뚜기 같으니 그들의 보기에도 그와 같았을 것이니라
  We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."

시편 49

1. 만민들아 이를 들으라 세상의 거민들아 귀를 기울이라
  For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world,

2. 귀천 빈부를 물론하고 다 들을찌어다
  both low and high, rich and poor alike:

3. 내 입은 지혜를 말하겠고 내 마음은 명철을 묵상하리로다
  My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding.

4. 내가 비유에 내 귀를 기울이고 수금으로 나의 오묘한 말을 풀리로다
  I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound my riddle:

5. 죄악이 나를 따라 에우는 환난의 날에 내가 어찌 두려워하랴
  Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers surround me--

6. 자기의 재물을 의지하고 풍부함으로 자긍하는 자는
  those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?

7. 아무도 결코 그 형제를 구속하지 못하며 저를 위하여 하나님께 속전을 바치지도 못할 것은
  No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him--

8. 저희 생명의 구속이 너무 귀하며 영영히 못할 것임이라
  the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough--

9. 저로 영존하여 썩음을 보지 않게 못하리니
  that he should live on forever and not see decay.

10. 저가 보리로다 지혜 있는 자도 죽고 우준하고 무지한 자도 같이 망하고 저희의 재물을 타인에게 끼치는도다
  For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others.

11. 저희의 속 생각에 그 집이 영영히 있고 그 거처가 대대에 미치리라 하여 그 전지를 자기 이름으로 칭하도다
  Their tombs will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations, though they had named lands after themselves.

12. 사람은 존귀하나 장구치 못함이여 멸망하는 짐승 같도다
  But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beasts that perish.

13. 저희의 이 행위는 저희의 우매함이나 후세 사람은 오히려 저희 말을 칭찬하리로다 (셀라)
  This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings. Selah

14. 양같이 저희를 음부에 두기로 작정되었으니 사망이 저희 목자일 것이라 정직한 자가 아침에 저희를 다스리리니 저희 아름다움이 음부에서 소멸하여 그 거처조차 없어지려니와
  Like sheep they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them. The upright will rule over them in the morning; their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.

15. 하나님은 나를 영접하시리니 이러므로 내 영혼을 음부의 권세에서 구속하시리로다 (셀라)
  But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself. Selah

16. 사람이 치부하여 그 집 영광이 더할 때에 너는 두려워 말찌어다
  Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases;

17. 저가 죽으매 가져가는 것이 없고 그 영광이 저를 따라 내려가지 못함이로다
  for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his splendor will not descend with him.

18. 저가 비록 생시에 자기를 축하하며 스스로 좋게 함으로 사람들에게 칭찬을 받을찌라도
  Though while he lived he counted himself blessed--and men praise you when you prosper--

19. 그 역대의 열조에게로 돌아가리니 영영히 빛을 보지 못하리로다
  he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of life.

20. 존귀에 처하나 깨닫지 못하는 사람은 멸망하는 짐승 같도다
  A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

■ 혼자 읽기

이사야 2

1. 아모스의 아들 이사야가 받은 바 유다와 예루살렘에 관한 말씀이라
  This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:

2. 말일에 여호와의 전의 산이 모든 산꼭대기에 굳게 설 것이요 모든 작은 산 위에 뛰어나리니 만방이 그리로 모여들 것이라
  In the last days the mountain of the LORD'S temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.

3. 많은 백성이 가며 이르기를 오라 우리가 여호와의 산에 오르며 야곱의 하나님의 전에 이르자 그가 그 도로 우리에게 가르치실 것이라 우리가 그 길로 행하리라 하리니 이는 율법이 시온에서부터 나올 것이요 여호와의 말씀이 예루살렘에서부터 나올 것임이니라
  Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

4. 그가 열방 사이에 판단하시며 많은 백성을 판결하시리니 무리가 그 칼을 쳐서 보습을 만들고 그 창을 쳐서 낫을 만들 것이며 이 나라와 저 나라가 다시는 칼을 들고 서로 치지 아니하며 다시는 전쟁을 연습지 아니하리라
  He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

5. 야곱 족속아 오라 우리가 여호와의 빛에 행하자
  Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

6. 주께서 주의 백성 야곱 족속을 버리셨음은 그들에게 동방 풍속이 가득하며 그들이 블레셋 사람같이 술객이 되며 이방인으로 더불어 손을 잡아 언약하였음이라
  You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans.

7. 그 땅에는 은금이 가득하고 보화가 무한하며 그 땅에는 마필이 가득하고 병거가 무수하며
  Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots.

8. 그 땅에는 우상도 가득하므로 그들이 자기 손으로 짓고 자기 손가락으로 만든 것을 공경하여
  Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.

9. 천한 자도 절하며 귀한 자도 굴복하오니 그들을 용서하지 마옵소서
  So man will be brought low and mankind humbled--do not forgive them.

10. 너희는 바위 틈에 들어가며 진토에 숨어 여호와의 위엄과 그 광대하심의 영광을 피하라
  Go into the rocks, hide in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!

11. 그 날에 눈이 높은 자가 낮아지며 교만한 자가 굴복되고 여호와께서 홀로 높임을 받으시리라
  The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

12. 대저 만군의 여호와의 한 날이 모든 교만자와 거만자와 자고한 자에게 임하여 그들로 낮아지게 하고
  The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),

13. 또 레바논의 높고 높은 모든 백향목과 바산의 모든 상수리나무와
  for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,

14. 모든 높은 산과 모든 솟아오른 작은 산과
  for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,

15. 모든 높은 망대와 견고한 성벽과
  for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,

16. 다시스의 모든 배와 모든 아름다운 조각물에 임하리니
  for every trading ship and every stately vessel.

17. 그 날에 자고한 자는 굴복되며 교만한 자는 낮아지고 여호와께서 홀로 높임을 받으실 것이요
  The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

18. 우상들은 온전히 없어질 것이며
  and the idols will totally disappear.

19. 사람들이 암혈과 토굴로 들어가서 여호와께서 일어나사 땅을 진동시키시는 그의 위엄과 그 광대하심의 영광을 피할 것이라
  Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.

20. 사람이 숭배하려고 만들었던 그 은 우상과 금 우상을 그 날에 두더쥐와 박쥐에게 던지고
  In that day men will throw away to the rodents and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.

21. 암혈과 험악한 바위 틈에 들어가서 여호와께서 일어나사 땅을 진동시키시는 그의 위엄과 그 광대하심의 영광을 피하리라
  They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.

22. 너희는 인생을 의지하지 말라 그의 호흡은 코에 있나니 수에 칠 가치가 어디 있느뇨
  Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?

히브리서 10

1. 율법은 장차 오는 좋은 일의 그림자요 참 형상이 아니므로 해마다 늘 드리는 바 같은 제사로는 나아오는 자들을 언제든지 온전케 할 수 없느니라
  The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

2. 그렇지 아니하면 섬기는 자들이 단번에 정결케 되어 다시 죄를 깨닫는 일이 없으리니 어찌 드리는 일을 그치지 아니하였으리요
  If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.

3. 그러나 이 제사들은 해마다 죄를 생각하게 하는 것이 있나니
  But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins,

4. 이는 황소와 염소의 피가 능히 죄를 없이 하지 못함이라
  because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5. 그러므로 세상에 임하실 때에 가라사대 하나님이 제사와 예물을 원치 아니하시고 오직 나를 위하여 한 몸을 예비하셨도다
  Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

6. 전체로 번제함과 속죄제는 기뻐하지 아니하시나니
  with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.

7. 이에 내가 말하기를 하나님이여 보시옵소서 두루마리 책에 나를 가리켜 기록한 것과 같이 하나님의 뜻을 행하러 왔나이다 하시니라
  Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll--I have come to do your will, O God.'"

8. 위에 말씀하시기를 제사와 예물과 전체로 번제함과 속죄제는 원치도 아니하고 기뻐하지도 아니하신다 하셨고 (이는 다 율법을 따라 드리는 것이라)
  First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made).

9. 그 후에 말씀하시기를 보시옵소서 내가 하나님의 뜻을 행하러 왔나이다 하셨으니 그 첫 것을 폐하심은 둘째 것을 세우려 하심이니라
  Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.

10. 이 뜻을 좇아 예수 그리스도의 몸을 단번에 드리심으로 말미암아 우리가 거룩함을 얻었노라
  And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11. 제사장마다 매일 서서 섬기며 자주 같은 제사를 드리되 이 제사는 언제든지 죄를 없게 하지 못하거니와
  Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

12. 오직 그리스도는 죄를 위하여 한 영원한 제사를 드리시고 하나님 우편에 앉으사
  But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

13. 그 후에 자기 원수들로 자기 발등상이 되게 하실 때까지 기다리시나니
  Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool,

14. 저가 한 제물로 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨느니라
  because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

15. 또한 성령이 우리에게 증거하시되
  The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

16. 주께서 가라사대 그 날 후로는 저희와 세울 언약이 이것이라 하시고 내 법을 저희 마음에 두고 저희 생각에 기록하리라 하신 후에
  "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."

17. 또 저희 죄와 저희 불법을 내가 다시 기억지 아니하리라 하셨으니
  Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."

18. 이것을 사하셨은즉 다시 죄를 위하여 제사드릴 것이 없느니라
  And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.

19. 그러므로 형제들아 우리가 예수의 피를 힘입어 성소에 들어갈 담력을 얻었나니
  Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

20. 그 길은 우리를 위하여 휘장 가운데로 열어 놓으신 새롭고 산 길이요 휘장은 곧 저의 육체니라
  by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

21. 또 하나님의 집 다스리는 큰 제사장이 계시매
  and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

22. 우리가 마음에 뿌림을 받아 양심의 악을 깨닫고 몸을 맑은 물로 씻었으니 참 마음과 온전한 믿음으로 하나님께 나아가자
  let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

23. 또 약속하신 이는 미쁘시니 우리가 믿는 도리의 소망을 움직이지 말고 굳게 잡아
  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

24. 서로 돌아보아 사랑과 선행을 격려하며
  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

25. 모이기를 폐하는 어떤 사람들의 습관과 같이 하지 말고 오직 권하여 그 날이 가까움을 볼수록 더욱 그리하자
  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

26. 우리가 진리를 아는 지식을 받은 후 짐짓 죄를 범한즉 다시 속죄하는 제사가 없고
  If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

27. 오직 무서운 마음으로 심판을 기다리는 것과 대적하는 자를 소멸할 맹렬한 불만 있으리라
  but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

28. 모세의 법을 폐한 자도 두 세 증인을 인하여 불쌍히 여김을 받지 못하고 죽었거든
  Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

29. 하물며 하나님 아들을 밟고 자기를 거룩하게 한 언약의 피를 부정한 것으로 여기고 은혜의 성령을 욕되게 하는 자의 당연히 받을 형벌이 얼마나 더 중하겠느냐 너희는 생각하라
  How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

30. 원수 갚는 것이 내게 있으니 내가 갚으리라 하시고 또다시 주께서 그의 백성을 심판하리라 말씀하신 것을 우리가 아노니
  For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people."

31. 살아 계신 하나님의 손에 빠져 들어가는 것이 무서울진저
  It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32. 전날에 너희가 빛을 받은 후에 고난의 큰 싸움에 참은 것을 생각하라
  Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.

33. 혹 비방과 환난으로써 사람에게 구경거리가 되고 혹 이런 형편에 있는 자들로 사귀는 자 되었으니
  Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.

34. 너희가 갇힌 자를 동정하고 너희 산업을 빼앗기는 것도 기쁘게 당한 것은 더 낫고 영구한 산업이 있는 줄 앎이라
  You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

35. 그러므로 너희 담대함을 버리지 말라 이것이 큰 상을 얻느니라
  So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

36. 너희에게 인내가 필요함은 너희가 하나님의 뜻을 행한 후에 약속을 받기 위함이라
  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

37. 잠시 잠깐 후면 오실 이가 오시리니 지체하지 아니하시리라
  For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay.

38. 오직 나의 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 또한 뒤로 물러가면 내 마음이 저를 기뻐하지 아니하리라 하셨느니라
  But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."

39. 우리는 뒤로 물러가 침륜에 빠질 자가 아니요 오직 영혼을 구원함에 이르는 믿음을 가진 자니라
  But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
