창세기 13

1. 아브람이 애굽에서 나올새 그와 그 아내와 모든 소유며 롯도 함께 하여 남방으로 올라가니
  So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.

2. 아브람에게 육축과 은금이 풍부하였더라
  Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

3. 그가 남방에서부터 발행하여 벧엘에 이르며 벧엘과 아이 사이 전에 장막쳤던 곳에 이르니
  From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier

4. 그가 처음으로 단을 쌓은 곳이라 그가 거기서 여호와의 이름을 불렀더라
  and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the LORD.

5. 아브람의 일행 롯도 양과 소와 장막이 있으므로
  Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

6. 그 땅이 그들의 동거함을 용납지 못하였으니 곧 그들의 소유가 많아서 동거할 수 없었음이라
  But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.

7. 그러므로 아브람의 가축의 목자와 롯의 가축의 목자가 서로 다투고 또 가나안 사람과 브리스 사람도 그 땅에 거하였는지라
  And quarreling arose between Abram's herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.

8. 아브람이 롯에게 이르되 우리는 한 골육이라 나나 너나 내 목자나 네 목자나 서로 다투게 말자
  So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.

9. 네 앞에 온 땅이 있지 아니하냐 나를 떠나라 네가 좌하면 나는 우하고 네가 우하면 나는 좌하리라
  Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left."

10. 이에 롯이 눈을 들어 요단들을 바라본즉 소알까지 온 땅에 물이 넉넉하니 여호와께서 소돔과 고모라를 멸하시기 전이었는 고로 여호와의 동산 같고 애굽 땅과 같았더라
  Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

11. 그러므로 롯이 요단 온 들을 택하고 동으로 옮기니 그들이 서로 떠난지라
  So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

12. 아브람은 가나안 땅에 거하였고 롯은 평지 성읍들에 머무르며 그 장막을 옮겨 소돔까지 이르렀더라
  Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.

13. 소돔 사람은 악하여 여호와 앞에 큰 죄인이었더라
  Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

14. 롯이 아브람을 떠난 후에 여호와께서 아브람에게 이르시되 너는 눈을 들어 너 있는 곳에서 동서 남북을 바라보라
  The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.

15. 보이는 땅을 내가 너와 네 자손에게 주리니 영원히 이르리라
  All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.

16. 내가 네 자손으로 땅의 티끌 같게 하리니 사람이 땅의 티끌을 능히 셀 수 있을찐대 네 자손도 세리라
  I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.

17. 너는 일어나 그 땅을 종과 횡으로 행하여 보라 내가 그것을 네게 주리라
  Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."

18. 이에 아브람이 장막을 옮겨 헤브론에 있는 마므레 상수리 수풀에 이르러 거하며 거기서 여호와를 위하여 단을 쌓았더라
  So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.

마태복음 12

1. 그 때에 예수께서 안식일에 밀밭 사이로 가실쌔 제자들이 시장하여 이삭을 잘라 먹으니
  At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.

2. 바리새인들이 보고 예수께 고하되 보시오 당신의 제자들이 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하나이다
  When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."

3. 예수께서 가라사대 다윗이 자기와 그 함께한 자들이 시장할 때에 한 일을 읽지 못하였느냐
  He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

4. 그가 하나님의 전에 들어가서 제사장 외에는 자기나 그 함께한 자들이 먹지 못하는 진설병을 먹지 아니하였느냐
  He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread--which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests.

5. 또 안식일에 제사장들이 성전 안에서 안식을 범하여도 죄가 없음을 너희가 율법에서 읽지 못하였느냐
  Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent?

6. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 성전보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있느니라
  I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.

7. 나는 자비를 원하고 제사를 원치 아니하노라 하신 뜻을 너희가 알았더면 무죄한 자를 죄로 정치 아니하였으리라
  If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent.

8. 인자는 안식일의 주인이니라 하시니라
  For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

9. 거기를 떠나 저희 회당에 들어가시니
  Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue,

10. 한편 손 마른 사람이 있는지라 사람들이 예수를 송사하려 하여 물어 가로되 안식일에 병 고치는 것이 옳으니이까
  and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"

11. 예수께서 가라사대 너희 중에 어느 사람이 양 한 마리가 있어 안식일에 구덩이에 빠졌으면 붙잡아 내지 않겠느냐
  He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?

12. 사람이 양보다 얼마나 더 귀하냐 그러므로 안식일에 선을 행하는 것이 옳으니라 하시고
  How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

13. 이에 그 사람에게 이르시되 손을 내밀라 하시니 저가 내밀매 다른 손과 같이 회복되어 성하더라
  Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

14. 바리새인들이 나가서 어떻게 하여 예수를 죽일꼬 의논하거늘
  But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

15. 예수께서 아시고 거기를 떠나가시니 사람이 많이 좇는지라 예수께서 저희 병을 다 고치시고
  Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick,

16. 자기를 나타내지 말라 경계하셨으니
  warning them not to tell who he was.

17. 이는 선지자 이사야로 말씀하신 바
  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

18. 보라 나의 택한 종 곧 내 마음에 기뻐하는 바 나의 사랑하는 자로다 내가 내 성령을 줄 터이니 그가 심판을 이방에 알게 하리라
  "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.

19. 그가 다투지도 아니하며 들레지도 아니하리니 아무도 길에서 그 소리를 듣지 못하리라
  He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.

20. 상한 갈대를 꺾지 아니하며 꺼져가는 심지를 끄지 아니하기를 심판하여 이길 때까지 하리니
  A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.

21. 또한 이방들이 그 이름을 바라리라 함을 이루려 하심이니라
  In his name the nations will put their hope."

22. 그 때에 귀신들려 눈 멀고 벙어리 된 자를 데리고 왔거늘 예수께서 고쳐 주시매 그 벙어리가 말하며 보게 된지라
  Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.

23. 무리가 다 놀라 가로되 이는 다윗의 자손이 아니냐 하니
  All the people were astonished and said, "Could this be the Son of David?"

24. 바리새인들은 듣고 가로되 이가 귀신의 왕 바알세불을 힘입지 않고는 귀신을 쫓아내지 못하느니라 하거늘
  But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons."

25. 예수께서 저희 생각을 아시고 가라사대 스스로 분쟁하는 나라마다 황폐하여질 것이요 스스로 분쟁하는 동네나 집마다 서지 못하리라
  Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

26. 사단이 만일 사단을 쫓아내면 스스로 분쟁하는 것이니 그리하고야 저의 나라가 어떻게 서겠느냐
  If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

27. 또 내가 바알세불을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내면 너희 아들들은 누구를 힘입어 쫓아내느냐 그러므로 저희가 너희 재판관이 되리라
  And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.

28. 그러나 내가 하나님의 성령을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내는 것이면 하나님의 나라가 이미 너희에게 임하였느니라
  But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29. 사람이 먼저 강한 자를 결박하지 않고야 어떻게 그 강한 자의 집에 들어가 그 세간을 늑탈하겠느냐 결박한 후에야 그 집을 늑탈하리라
  "Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house.

30. 나와 함께 아니하는 자는 나를 반대하는 자요 나와 함께 모으지 아니하는 자는 헤치는 자니라
  "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.

31. 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 사람의 모든 죄와 훼방은 사하심을 얻되 성령을 훼방하는 것은 사하심을 얻지 못하겠고
  And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

32. 또 누구든지 말로 인자를 거역하면 사하심을 얻되 누구든지 말로 성령을 거역하면 이 세상과 오는 세상에도 사하심을 얻지 못하리라
  Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

33. 나무도 좋고 실과도 좋다 하든지 나무도 좋지 않고 실과도 좋지 않다 하든지 하라 그 실과로 나무를 아느니라
  "Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.

34. 독사의 자식들아 너희는 악하니 어떻게 선한 말을 할 수 있느냐 이는 마음에 가득한 것을 입으로 말함이라
  You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.

35. 선한 사람은 그 쌓은 선에서 선한 것을 내고 악한 사람은 그 쌓은 악에서 악한 것을 내느니라
  The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.

36. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 사람이 무슨 무익한 말을 하든지 심판 날에 이에 대하여 심문을 받으리니
  But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

37. 네 말로 의롭다 함을 받고 네 말로 정죄함을 받으리라
  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

38. 그 때에 서기관과 바리새인 중 몇 사람이 말하되 선생님이여 우리에게 표적 보여 주시기를 원하나이다
  Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."

39. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 선지자 요나의 표적 밖에는 보일 표적이 없느니라
  He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

40. 요나가 밤낮 사흘을 큰 물고기 뱃속에 있었던 것같이 인자도 밤낮 사흘을 땅 속에 있으리라
  For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

41. 심판 때에 니느웨 사람들이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그들이 요나의 전도를 듣고 회개하였음이어니와 요나보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있으며
  The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

42. 심판 때에 남방 여왕이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그가 솔로몬의 지혜로운 말을 들으려고 땅 끝에서 왔음이어니와 솔로몬보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있느니라
  The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here.

43. 더러운 귀신이 사람에게서 나갔을 때에 물 없는 곳으로 다니며 쉬기를 구하되 얻지 못하고
  "When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

44. 이에 가로되 내가 나온 내 집으로 돌아가리라 하고 와 보니 그 집이 비고 소제되고 수리되었거늘
  Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order.

45. 이에 가서 저보다 더 악한 귀신 일곱을 데리고 들어가서 거하니 그 사람의 나중 형편이 전보다 더욱 심하게 되느니라 이 악한 세대가 또한 이렇게 되리라
  Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation."

46. 예수께서 무리에게 말씀하실 때에 그 모친과 동생들이 예수께 말하려고 밖에 섰더니
  While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.

47. 한 사람이 예수께 여짜오되 보소서 당신의 모친과 동생들이 당신께 말하려고 밖에 섰나이다 하니
  Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."

48. 말하던 사람에게 대답하여 가라사대 누가 내 모친이며 내 동생들이냐 하시고
  He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"

49. 손을 내밀어 제자들을 가리켜 가라사대 나의 모친과 나의 동생들을 보라
  Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.

50. 누구든지 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 하는 자가 내 형제요 자매요 모친이니라 하시더라
  For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

느헤미야 2

1. 아닥사스다 왕 이십년 니산월에 왕의 앞에 술이 있기로 내가 들어 왕에게 드렸는데 이 전에는 내가 왕의 앞에서 수색이 없었더니
  In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before;

2. 왕이 내게 이르시되 네가 병이 없거늘 어찌하여 얼굴에 수색이 있느냐 이는 필연 네 마음에 근심이 있음이로다 그 때에 내가 크게 두려워하여
  so the king asked me, "Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart." I was very much afraid,

3. 왕께 대답하되 왕은 만세수를 하옵소서 나의 열조의 묘실 있는 성읍이 이제까지 황무하고 성문이 소화되었사오니 내가 어찌 얼굴에 수색이 없사오리이까
  but I said to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"

4. 왕이 내게 이르시되 그러면 네가 무엇을 원하느냐 하시기로 내가 곧 하늘의 하나님께 묵도하고
  The king said to me, "What is it you want?" Then I prayed to the God of heaven,

5. 왕에게 고하되 왕이 만일 즐겨하시고 종이 왕의 목전에서 은혜를 얻었사오면 나를 유다 땅 나의 열조의 묘실 있는 성읍에 보내어 그 성을 중건하게 하옵소서 하였는데
  and I answered the king, "If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it."

6. 그 때에 왕후도 왕의 곁에 앉았더라 왕이 내게 이르시되 네가 몇 날에 행할 길이며 어느 때에 돌아오겠느냐 하고 왕이 나를 보내기를 즐겨하시기로 내가 기한을 정하고
  Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, "How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?" It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.

7. 내가 또 왕에게 아뢰되 왕이 만일 즐겨하시거든 강 서편 총독들에게 내리시는 조서를 내게 주사 저희로 나를 용납하여 유다까지 통과하게 하시고
  I also said to him, "If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah?

8. 또 왕의 삼림 감독 아삽에게 조서를 내리사 저로 전에 속한 영문의 문과 성곽과 나의 거할 집을 위하여 들보 재목을 주게 하옵소서 하매 내 하나님의 선한 손이 나를 도우심으로 왕이 허락하고
  And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king's forest, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?" And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.

9. 군대 장관과 마병을 보내어 나와 함께 하게 하시기로 내가 강 서편에 있는 총독들에게 이르러 왕의 조서를 전하였더니
  So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king's letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.

10. 호론 사람 산발랏과 종 되었던 암몬 사람 도비야가 이스라엘 자손을 흥왕케 하려는 사람이 왔다 함을 듣고 심히 근심하더라
  When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

11. 내가 예루살렘에 이르러 거한 지 삼 일에
  I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days

12. 내 하나님이 내 마음을 감화하사 예루살렘을 위하여 행하게 하신 일을 내가 아무 사람에게도 말하지 아니하고 밤에 일어나 두어 사람과 함께 나갈쌔 내가 탄 짐승 외에는 다른 짐승이 없더라
  I set out during the night with a few men. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.

13. 그 밤에 골짜기 문으로 나가서 용정으로 분문에 이르는 동안에 보니 예루살렘 성벽이 다 무너졌고 성문은 소화되었더라
  By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.

14. 앞으로 행하여 샘문과 왕의 못에 이르러는 탄 짐승이 지나갈 곳이 없는지라
  Then I moved on toward the Fountain Gate and the King's Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through;

15. 그 밤에 시내를 좇아 올라가서 성벽을 살펴본 후에 돌이켜 골짜기 문으로 들어와서 돌아왔으나
  so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.

16. 방백들은 내가 어디 갔었으며 무엇을 하였는지 알지 못하였고 나도 그 일을 유다 사람들에게나 제사장들에게나 귀인들에게나 방백들에게나 그 외에 일하는 자들에게 고하지 아니하다가
  The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the priests or nobles or officials or any others who would be doing the work.

17. 후에 저희에게 이르기를 우리의 당한 곤경은 너희도 목도하는 바라 예루살렘이 황무하고 성문이 소화되었으니 자, 예루살렘 성을 중건하여 다시 수치를 받지 말자 하고
  Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace."

18. 또 저희에게 하나님의 선한 손이 나를 도우신 일과 왕이 내게 이른 말씀을 고하였더니 저희의 말이 일어나 건축하자 하고 모두 힘을 내어 이 선한 일을 하려 하매
  I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me. They replied, "Let us start rebuilding." So they began this good work.

19. 호론 사람 산발랏과 종이 되었던 암몬 사람 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈이 이 말을 듣고 우리를 업신여기고 비웃어 가로되 너희의 하는 일이 무엇이냐 왕을 배반코자 하느냐 하기로
  But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. "What is this you are doing?" they asked. "Are you rebelling against the king?"

20. 내가 대답하여 가로되 하늘의 하나님이 우리로 형통케 하시리니 그의 종 우리가 일어나 건축하려니와 오직 너희는 예루살렘에서 아무 기업도 없고 권리도 없고 명록도 없다 하였느니라
  I answered them by saying, "The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it."

사도행전 12

1. 그 때에 헤롯 왕이 손을 들어 교회 중 몇 사람을 해하려 하여
  It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them.

2. 요한의 형제 야고보를 칼로 죽이니
  He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.

3. 유대인들이 이 일을 기뻐하는 것을 보고 베드로도 잡으려 할쌔 때는 무교절일이라
  When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

4. 잡으매 옥에 가두어 군사 넷씩인 네 패에게 맡겨 지키고 유월절 후에 백성 앞에 끌어내고자 하더라
  After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.

5. 이에 베드로는 옥에 갇혔고 교회는 그를 위하여 간절히 하나님께 빌더라
  So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

6. 헤롯이 잡아 내려고 하는 그 전날 밤에 베드로가 두 군사 틈에서 두 쇠사슬에 매여 누워 자는데 파숫군들이 문 밖에서 옥을 지키더니
  The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.

7. 홀연히 주의 사자가 곁에 서매 옥중에 광채가 조요하며 또 베드로의 옆구리를 쳐 깨워 가로되 급히 일어나라 하니 쇠사슬이 그 손에서 벗어지더라
  Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.

8. 천사가 가로되 띠를 띠고 신을 들메라 하거늘 베드로가 그대로 하니 천사가 또 가로되 겉옷을 입고 따라오라 한대
  Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the angel told him.

9. 베드로가 나와서 따라갈쌔 천사의 하는 것이 참인줄 알지 못하고 환상을 보는가 하니라
  Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.

10. 이에 첫째와 둘째 파수를 지나 성으로 통한 쇠문에 이르니 문이 절로 열리는지라 나와 한 거리를 지나매 천사가 곧 떠나더라
  They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

11. 이에 베드로가 정신이 나서 가로되 내가 이제야 참으로 주께서 그의 천사를 보내어 나를 헤롯의 손과 유대 백성의 모든 기대에서 벗어나게 하신 줄 알겠노라 하여
  Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating."

12. 깨닫고 마가라 하는 요한의 어머니 마리아의 집에 가니 여러 사람이 모여 기도하더라
  When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.

13. 베드로가 대문을 두드린대 로데라 하는 계집아이가 영접하러 나왔다가
  Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door.

14. 베드로의 음성인 줄 알고 기뻐하여 문을 미처 열지 못하고 달려들어가 말하되 베드로가 대문 밖에 섰더라 하니
  When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!"

15. 저희가 말하되 네가 미쳤다 하나 계집아이는 힘써 말하되 참말이라 하니 저희가 말하되 그러면 그의 천사라 하더라
  "You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel."

16. 베드로가 문 두드리기를 그치지 아니하니 저희가 문을 열어 베드로를 보고 놀라는지라
  But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

17. 베드로가 저희에게 손짓하여 종용하게 하고 주께서 자기를 이끌어 옥에서 나오게 하던 일을 말하고 또 야고보와 형제들에게 이 말을 전하라 하고 떠나 다른 곳으로 가니라
  Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and the brothers about this," he said, and then he left for another place.

18. 날이 새매 군사들은 베드로가 어떻게 되었는지 알지 못하여 적지 않게 소동하니
  In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.

19. 헤롯이 그를 찾아도 보지 못하매 파숫군들을 심문하고 죽이라 명하니라 헤롯이 유대를 떠나 가이사랴로 내려가서 거하니라
  After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there a while.

20. 헤롯이 두로와 시돈 사람들을 대단히 노여워하나 저희 지방이 왕국에서 나는 양식을 쓰는 고로 일심으로 그에게 나아와 왕의 침소 맡은 신하 블라스도를 친하여 화목하기를 청한지라
  He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king's country for their food supply.

21. 헤롯이 날을 택하여 왕복을 입고 위에 앉아 백성을 효유한대
  On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people.

22. 백성들이 크게 부르되 이것은 신의 소리요 사람의 소리는 아니라 하거늘
  They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man."

23. 헤롯이 영광을 하나님께로 돌리지 아니하는 고로 주의 사자가 곧 치니 충이 먹어 죽으니라
  Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

24. 하나님의 말씀은 흥왕하여 더하더라
  But the word of God continued to increase and spread.

25. 바나바와 사울이 부조의 일을 마치고 마가라 하는 요한을 데리고 예루살렘에서 돌아오니라
  When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.
