창세기 11

1. 온 땅의 구음이 하나이요 언어가 하나이었더라
  Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.

2. 이에 그들이 동방으로 옮기다가 시날 평지를 만나 거기 거하고
  As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

3. 서로 말하되 자, 벽돌을 만들어 견고히 굽자 하고 이에 벽돌로 돌을 대신하며 역청으로 진흙을 대신하고
  They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.

4. 또 말하되 자, 성과 대를 쌓아 대 꼭대기를 하늘에 닿게 하여 우리 이름을 내고 온 지면에 흩어짐을 면하자 하였더니
  Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

5. 여호와께서 인생들의 쌓는 성과 대를 보시려고 강림하셨더라
  But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.

6. 여호와께서 가라사대 이 무리가 한 족속이요 언어도 하나이므로 이같이 시작하였으니 이후로는 그 경영하는 일을 금지할 수 없으리로다
  The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

7. 자, 우리가 내려가서 거기서 그들의 언어를 혼잡케 하여 그들로 서로 알아듣지 못하게 하자 하시고
  Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

8. 여호와께서 거기서 그들을 온 지면에 흩으신 고로 그들이 성 쌓기를 그쳤더라
  So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

9. 그러므로 그 이름을 바벨이라 하니 이는 여호와께서 거기서 온 땅의 언어를 혼잡케 하셨음이라 여호와께서 거기서 그들을 온 지면에 흩으셨더라
  That is why it was called Babel--because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

10. 셈의 후예는 이러하니라 셈은 일백 세 곧 홍수 후 이년에 아르박삿을 낳았고
  This is the account of Shem. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad.

11. 아르박삿을 낳은 후에 오백 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.

12. 아르박삿은 삼십오 세에 셀라를 낳았고
  When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.

13. 셀라를 낳은 후에 사백삼 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.

14. 셀라는 삼십 세에 에벨을 낳았고
  When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.

15. 에벨을 낳은 후에 사백삼 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.

16. 에벨은 삼십사 세에 벨렉을 낳았고
  When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.

17. 벨렉을 낳은 후에 사백삼십 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.

18. 벨렉은 삼십 세에 르우를 낳았고
  When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.

19. 르우를 낳은 후에 이백구 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.

20. 르우는 삼십이 세에 스룩을 낳았고
  When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.

21. 스룩을 낳은 후에 이백칠 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.

22. 스룩은 삼십 세에 나홀을 낳았고
  When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.

23. 나홀을 낳은 후에 이백 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.

24. 나홀은 이십구 세에 데라를 낳았고
  When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah.

25. 데라를 낳은 후에 일백십구 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며
  And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.

26. 데라는 칠십 세에 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았더라
  After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

27. 데라의 후예는 이러하니라 데라는 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았고 하란은 롯을 낳았으며
  This is the account of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.

28. 하란은 그 아비 데라보다 먼저 본토 갈대아 우르에서 죽었더라
  While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth.

29. 아브람과 나홀이 장가들었으니 아브람의 아내 이름은 사래며 나홀의 아내 이름은 밀가니 하란의 딸이요 하란은 밀가의 아비며 또 이스가의 아비더라
  Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.

30. 사래는 잉태하지 못하므로 자식이 없었더라
  Now Sarai was barren; she had no children.

31. 데라가 그 아들 아브람과 하란의 아들 그 손자 롯과 그 자부 아브람의 아내 사래를 데리고 갈대아 우르에서 떠나 가나안 땅으로 가고자 하더니 하란에 이르러 거기 거하였으며
  Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.

32. 데라는 이백오 세를 향수하고 하란에서 죽었더라
  Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Haran.

마태복음 10

1. 예수께서 그 열두 제자를 부르사 더러운 귀신을 쫓아내며 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치는 권능을 주시니라
  He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

2. 열두 사도의 이름은 이러하니 베드로라 하는 시몬을 비롯하여 그의 형제 안드레와 세베대의 아들 야고보와 그의 형제 요한,
  These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John;

3. 빌립과 바돌로매, 도마와 세리 마태, 알패오의 아들 야고보와 다대오,
  Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;

4. 가나안인 시몬과 및 가룟 유다 곧 예수를 판 자라
  Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

5. 예수께서 이 열둘을 내어 보내시며 명하여 가라사대 이방인의 길로도 가지 말고 사마리아인의 고을에도 들어가지 말고
  These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.

6. 차라리 이스라엘 집의 잃어버린 양에게로 가라
  Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.

7. 가면서 전파하여 말하되 천국이 가까왔다 하고
  As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

8. 병든 자를 고치며 죽은 자를 살리며 문둥이를 깨끗하게 하며 귀신을 쫓아내되 너희가 거저 받았으니 거저 주어라
  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

9. 너희 전대에 금이나 은이나 동이나 가지지 말고
  Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts;

10. 여행을 위하여 주머니나 두 벌 옷이나 신이나 지팡이를 가지지 말라 이는 일군이 저 먹을것받는 것이 마땅함이니라
  take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.

11. 아무 성이나 촌에 들어가든지 그 중에 합당한 자를 찾아내어 너희 떠나기까지 거기서 머물라
  "Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave.

12. 또 그 집에 들어가면서 평안하기를 빌라
  As you enter the home, give it your greeting.

13. 그 집이 이에 합당하면 너희 빈 평안이 거기 임할 것이요 만일 합당치 아니하면 그 평안이 너희에게 돌아올 것이니라
  If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.

14. 누구든지 너희를 영접도 아니하고 너희 말을 듣지도 아니하거든 그 집이나 성에서 나가 너희 발의 먼지를 떨어 버리라
  If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.

15. 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 심판 날에 소돔과 고모라 땅이 그 성보다 견디기 쉬우리라
  I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

16. 보라 내가 너희를 보냄이 양을 이리 가운데 보냄과 같도다 그러므로 너희는 뱀같이 지혜롭고 비둘기같이 순결하라
  I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

17. 사람들을 삼가라 저희가 너희를 공회에 넘겨 주겠고 저희 회당에서 채찍질 하리라
  "Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues.

18. 또 너희가 나를 인하여 총독들과 임금들 앞에 끌려가리니 이는 저희와 이방인들에게 증거가 되게 하려 하심이라
  On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

19. 너희를 넘겨 줄 때에 어떻게 또는 무엇을 말할까 염려치 말라 그 때에 무슨 말할 것을 주시리니
  But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

20. 말하는 이는 너희가 아니라 너희 속에서 말씀하시는 자 곧 너희 아버지의 성령이시니라
  for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

21. 장차 형제가 형제를, 아비가 자식을 죽는 데 내어 주며 자식들이 부모를 대적하여 죽게 하리라
  "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.

22. 또 너희가 내 이름을 인하여 모든 사람에게 미움을 받을 것이나 나중까지 견디는 자는 구원을 얻으리라
  All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

23. 이 동네에서 너희를 핍박하거든 저 동네로 피하라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘의 모든 동네를 다 다니지 못하여서 인자가 오리라
  When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

24. 제자가 그 선생보다, 또는 종이 그 상전보다 높지 못하나니
  "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

25. 제자가 그 선생 같고 종이 그 상전 같으면 족하도다 집주인을 바알세불이라 하였거든 하물며 그 집 사람들이랴
  It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!

26. 그런즉 저희를 두려워하지 말라 감추인 것이 드러나지 않을 것이 없고 숨은 것이 알려지지 않을 것이 없느니라
  "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

27. 내가 너희에게 어두운 데서 이르는 것을 광명한 데서 말하며 너희가 귓속으로 듣는 것을 집 위에서 전파하라
  What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

28. 몸은 죽여도 영혼은 능히 죽이지 못하는 자들을 두려워하지 말고 오직 몸과 영혼을 능히 지옥에 멸하시는 자를 두려워하라
  Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

29. 참새 두 마리가 한 앗사리온에 팔리는 것이 아니냐 그러나 너희 아버지께서 허락지 아니하시면 그 하나라도 땅에 떨어지지 아니하리라
  Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

30. 너희에게는 머리털까지 다 세신 바 되었나니
  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31. 두려워하지 말라 너희는 많은 참새보다 귀하니라
  So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

32. 누구든지 사람 앞에서 나를 시인하면 나도 하늘에 계신 내 아버지 앞에서 저를 시인할 것이요
  "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

33. 누구든지 사람 앞에서 나를 부인하면 나도 하늘에 계신 내 아버지 앞에서 저를 부인하리라
  But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

34. 내가 세상에 화평을 주러 온 줄로 생각지 말라 화평이 아니요 검을 주러 왔노라
  "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35. 내가 온 것은 사람이 그 아비와, 딸이 어미와, 며느리가 시어미와 불화하게 하려 함이니
  For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--

36. 사람의 원수가 자기 집안 식구리라
  a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

37. 아비나 어미를 나보다 더 사랑하는 자는 내게 합당치 아니하고 아들이나 딸을 나보다 더 사랑하는 자도 내게 합당치 아니하고
  "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

38. 또 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좇지 않는 자도 내게 합당치 아니하니라
  and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

39. 자기 목숨을 얻는 자는 잃을 것이요 나를 위하여 자기 목숨을 잃는 자는 얻으리라
  Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

40. 너희를 영접하는 자는 나를 영접하는 것이요 나를 영접하는 자는 나 보내신 이를 영접하는 것이니라
  "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me.

41. 선지자의 이름으로 선지자를 영접하는 자는 선지자의 상을 받을 것이요 의인의 이름으로 의인을 영접하는 자는 의인의 상을 받을 것이요
  Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward.

42. 또 누구든지 제자의 이름으로 이 소자 중 하나에게 냉수 한 그릇이라도 주는 자는 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그 사람이 결단코 상을 잃지 아니하리라 하시니라
  And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."

■ 혼자 읽기

에스라 10

1. 에스라가 하나님의 전 앞에 엎드려 울며 기도하여 죄를 자복할 때에 많은 백성이 심히 통곡하매 이스라엘 중에서 백성의 남녀와 어린아이의 큰 무리가 그 앞에 모인지라
  While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself down before the house of God, a large crowd of Israelites--men, women and children--gathered around him. They too wept bitterly.

2. 엘람 자손 중 여히엘의 아들 스가냐가 에스라에게 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님께 범죄하여 이 땅 이방 여자를 취하여 아내를 삼았으나 이스라엘에게 오히려 소망이 있나니
  Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, one of the descendants of Elam, said to Ezra, "We have been unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the peoples around us. But in spite of this, there is still hope for Israel.

3. 곧 내 주의 교훈을 좇으며 우리 하나님의 명령을 떨며 준행하는 자의 의논을 좇아 이 모든 아내와 그 소생을 다 내어 보내기로 우리 하나님과 언약을 세우고 율법대로 행할 것이라
  Now let us make a covenant before our God to send away all these women and their children, in accordance with the counsel of my lord and of those who fear the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law.

4. 이는 당신의 주장할 일이니 일어나소서 우리가 도우리니 힘써 행하소서
  Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it."

5. 이에 에스라가 일어나 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 온 이스라엘에게 이 말대로 행하기를 맹세하게 하매 무리가 맹세하는지라
  So Ezra rose up and put the leading priests and Levites and all Israel under oath to do what had been suggested. And they took the oath.

6. 이에 에스라가 하나님의 전 앞에서 일어나 엘리아십의 아들 여호하난의 방으로 들어가니라 저가 들어가서 사로잡혔던 자의 죄를 근심하여 떡도 먹지 아니하며 물도 마시지 아니하더니
  Then Ezra withdrew from before the house of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. While he was there, he ate no food and drank no water, because he continued to mourn over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.

7. 유다와 예루살렘의 사로잡혔던 자의 자손들에게 공포하기를 너희는 예루살렘으로 모이라
  A proclamation was then issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem for all the exiles to assemble in Jerusalem.

8. 누구든지 방백들과 장로들의 훈시를 좇아 삼 일 내에 오지 아니하면 그 재산을 적몰하고 사로잡혔던 자의 회에서 쫓아내리라 하매
  Anyone who failed to appear within three days would forfeit all his property, in accordance with the decision of the officials and elders, and would himself be expelled from the assembly of the exiles.

9. 유다와 베냐민 모든 사람이 삼 일 내에 예루살렘에 모이니 때는 구월 이십일이라 무리가 하나님의 전 앞 광장에 앉아서 이 일과 큰 비를 인하여 떨더니
  Within the three days, all the men of Judah and Benjamin had gathered in Jerusalem. And on the twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people were sitting in the square before the house of God, greatly distressed by the occasion and because of the rain.

10. 제사장 에스라가 일어서서 저희에게 이르되 너희가 범죄하여 이방 여자로 아내를 삼아 이스라엘의 죄를 더하게 하였으니
  Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, "You have been unfaithful; you have married foreign women, adding to Israel's guilt.

11. 이제 너희 열조의 하나님 앞에서 죄를 자복하고 그 뜻대로 행하여 이 땅 족속들과 이방 여인을 끊어 버리라
  Now make confession to the LORD, the God of your fathers, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples around you and from your foreign wives."

12. 회 무리가 큰 소리로 대답하여 가로되 당신의 말씀대로 우리가 마땅히 행할 것이니이다
  The whole assembly responded with a loud voice: "You are right! We must do as you say.

13. 그러나 백성이 많고 또 큰 비가 내리는 때니 능히 밖에 서지 못할 것이요 우리가 이 일로 크게 범죄하였은즉 하루 이틀에 할 일이 아니오니
  But there are many people here and it is the rainy season; so we cannot stand outside. Besides, this matter cannot be taken care of in a day or two, because we have sinned greatly in this thing.

14. 이제 온 회중을 위하여 우리 방백들을 세우고 우리 모든 성읍에 이방 여자에게 장가든 자는 다 기한에 본성 장로들과 재판장과 함께 오게 하여 우리 하나님의 이 일로 인하신 진노가 우리에게서 떠나게 하소서 하나
  Let our officials act for the whole assembly. Then let everyone in our towns who has married a foreign woman come at a set time, along with the elders and judges of each town, until the fierce anger of our God in this matter is turned away from us."

15. 오직 아사헬의 아들 요나단과 디과의 아들 야스야가 일어나 그 일을 반대하고 므술람과 레위 사람 삽브대가 저희를 돕더라
  Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, opposed this.

16. 사로잡혔던 자의 자손이 그대로 한지라 제사장 에스라가 그 종족을 따라 각기 지명된 족장 몇 사람을 위임하고 시월 초하루에 앉아 그 일을 조사하여
  So the exiles did as was proposed. Ezra the priest selected men who were family heads, one from each family division, and all of them designated by name. On the first day of the tenth month they sat down to investigate the cases,

17. 정월 초하루에 이르러 이방 여인을 취한 자의 일 조사하기를 마치니라
  and by the first day of the first month they finished dealing with all the men who had married foreign women.

18. 제사장의 무리 중에 이방 여인을 취한 자는 예수아 자손 중 요사닥의 아들과 그 형제 마아세야와 엘리에셀과 야립과 그달랴라
  Among the descendants of the priests, the following had married foreign women: From the descendants of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib and Gedaliah.

19. 저희가 다 손을 잡아 맹세하여 그 아내를 보내기로 하고 또 그 죄를 인하여 수양 하나를 속건제로 드렸으며
  (They all gave their hands in pledge to put away their wives, and for their guilt they each presented a ram from the flock as a guilt offering.)

20. 또 임멜 자손 중에는 하나니와 스바댜요
  From the descendants of Immer: Hanani and Zebadiah.

21. 하림 자손 중에는 마아세야와 엘리야와 스마야와 여히엘과 웃시야요
  From the descendants of Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel and Uzziah.

22. 바스훌 자손 중에는 엘료에내와 마아세야와 이스마엘과 느다넬과 요사밧과 엘라사였더라
  From the descendants of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad and Elasah.

23. 레위 사람 중에는 요사밧과 시므이와 글라야라 하는 글리다와 브다히야와 유다와 엘리에셀이었더라
  Among the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah and Eliezer.

24. 노래하는 자 중에는 엘리아십이요 문지기 중에는 살룸과 델렘과 우리였더라
  From the singers: Eliashib. From the gatekeepers: Shallum, Telem and Uri.

25. 이스라엘 중에는 바로스 자손 중 라먀와 잇시야와 말기야와 미야민과 엘르아살과 말기야와 브나야요
  And among the other Israelites: From the descendants of Parosh: Ramiah, Izziah, Malkijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malkijah and Benaiah.

26. 엘람 자손 중 맛다냐와 스가랴와 여히엘과 압디와 여레못과 엘리야요
  From the descendants of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth and Elijah.

27. 삿두 자손 중 엘료에내와 엘리아십과 맛다냐와 여레못과 사밧과 아시사요
  From the descendants of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad and Aziza.

28. 베배 자손 중 여호하난과 하나냐와 삽배와 아들래요
  From the descendants of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai and Athlai.

29. 바니 자손 중 므술람과 말룩과 아다야와 야숩과 스알과 여레못이요
  From the descendants of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal and Jeremoth.

30. 바핫모압 자손 중 앗나와 글랄과 브나야와 마아세야와 맛다냐와 브살렐과 빈누이와 므낫세요
  From the descendants of Pahath-Moab: Adna, Kelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui and Manasseh.

31. 하림 자손 중 엘리에셀과 잇시야와 말기야와 스마야와 시므온과
  From the descendants of Harim: Eliezer, Ishijah, Malkijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

32. 베냐민과 말룩과 스마랴요
  Benjamin, Malluch and Shemariah.

34. 바니 자손 중 마아대와 아므람과 우엘과
  From the descendants of Bani: Maadai, Amram, Uel,

35. 브나야와 베드야와 글루히와
  Benaiah, Bedeiah, Keluhi,

36. 와냐와 므레못과 에랴십과
  Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

37. 맛다냐와 맛드내와 야아수와
  Mattaniah, Mattenai and Jaasu.

38. 바니와 빈누이와 시므이와
  From the descendants of Binnui: Shimei,

39. 셀레먀와 나단과 아다야와
  Shelemiah, Nathan, Adaiah,

40. 막나드배와 사새와 사래와
  Macnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

41. 아사렐과 셀레먀와 스마랴와
  Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah,

42. 살룸과 아마랴와 요셉이요
  Shallum, Amariah and Joseph.

43. 느보 자손 중 여이엘과 맛디디야와 사밧과 스비내와 잇도와 요엘과 브나야더라
  From the descendants of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel and Benaiah.

44. 이상은 모두 이방 여인을 취한 자라 그 중에 자녀를 낳은 여인도 있었더라
  All these had married foreign women, and some of them had children by these wives.

사도행전 10

1. 가이사랴에 고넬료라 하는 사람이 있으니 이달리야대라 하는 군대의 백부장이라
  At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment.

2. 그가 경건하여 온 집으로 더불어 하나님을 경외하며 백성을 많이 구제하고 하나님께 항상 기도하더니
  He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.

3. 하루는 제 구 시쯤 되어 환상 중에 밝히 보매 하나님의 사자가 들어와 가로되 고넬료야 하니
  One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!"

4. 고넬료가 주목하여 보고 두려워 가로되 주여 무슨 일이니이까 천사가 가로되 네 기도와 구제가 하나님 앞에 상달하여 기억하신 바가 되었으니
  Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.

5. 네가 지금 사람들을 욥바에 보내어 베드로라 하는 시몬을 청하라
  Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.

6. 저는 피장 시몬의 집에 우거하니 그 집은 해변에 있느니라 하더라
  He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea."

7. 마침 말하던 천사가 떠나매 고넬료가 집안 하인 둘과 종졸 가운데 경건한 사람 하나를 불러
  When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.

8. 이 일을 다 고하고 욥바로 보내니라
  He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa.

9. 이튿날 저희가 행하여 성에 가까이 갔을 그 때에 베드로가 기도하려고 지붕에 올라가니 시간은 제 육 시더라
  About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

10. 시장하여 먹고자 하매 사람이 준비할 때에 비몽사몽간에
  He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

11. 하늘이 열리며 한 그릇이 내려오는 것을 보니 큰 보자기 같고 네 귀를 매어 땅에 드리웠더라
  He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.

12. 그 안에는 땅에 있는 각색 네 발 가진 짐승과 기는 것과 공중에 나는 것들이 있는데
  It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air.

13. 또 소리가 있으되 베드로야 일어나 잡아 먹으라 하거늘
  Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

14. 베드로가 가로되 주여 그럴 수 없나이다 속되고 깨끗지 아니한 물건을 내가 언제든지 먹지 아니하였삽나이다 한대
  "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15. 또 두 번째 소리 있으되 하나님께서 깨끗케 하신 것을 네가 속되다 하지 말라 하더라
  The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

16. 이런 일이 세 번 있은 후 그 그릇이 곧 하늘로 올리워 가니라
  This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

17. 베드로가 본 바 환상이 무슨 뜻인지 속으로 의심하더니 마침 고넬료의 보낸 사람들이 시몬의 집을 찾아 문 밖에 서서
  While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon's house was and stopped at the gate.

18. 불러 묻되 베드로라 하는 시몬이 여기 우거하느냐 하거늘
  They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.

19. 베드로가 그 환상에 대하여 생각할 때에 성령께서 저더러 말씀하시되 두 사람이 너를 찾으니
  While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three men are looking for you.

20. 일어나 내려가 의심치 말고 함께 가라 내가 저희를 보내었느니라 하시니
  So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

21. 베드로가 내려가 그 사람들을 보고 가로되 내가 곧 너희의 찾는 사람이니 너희가 무슨 일로 왔느냐
  Peter went down and said to the men, "I'm the one you're looking for. Why have you come?"

22. 저희가 대답하되 백부장 고넬료는 의인이요 하나님을 경외하는 자라 유대 온 족속이 칭찬하더니 저가 거룩한 천사의 지시를 받아 너를 그 집으로 청하여 말을 들으려 하느니라 한대
  The men replied, "We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to have you come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say."

23. 베드로가 불러 들여 유숙하게 하니라 이튿날 일어나 저희와 함께 갈쌔 욥바 두어 형제도 함께 가니라
  Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along.

24. 이튿날 가이사랴에 들어가니 고넬료가 일가와 가까운 친구들을 모아 기다리더니
  The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

25. 마침 베드로가 들어올 때에 고넬료가 맞아 발 앞에 엎드리어 절하니
  As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence.

26. 베드로가 일으켜 가로되 일어서라 나도 사람이라 하고
  But Peter made him get up. "Stand up," he said, "I am only a man myself."

27. 더불어 말하며 들어가 여러 사람의 모인 것을 보고
  Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people.

28. 이르되 유대인으로서 이방인을 교제하는 것과 가까이 하는 것이 위법인 줄은 너희도 알거니와 하나님께서 내게 지시하사 아무도 속되다 하거나 깨끗지 않다 하지 말라 하시기로
  He said to them: "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

29. 부름을 사양치 아니하고 왔노라 묻노니 무슨 일로 나를 불렀느뇨
  So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?"

30. 고넬료가 가로되 나흘 전 이맘때까지 내 집에서 제 구 시 기도를 하는데 홀연히 한 사람이 빛난 옷을 입고 내 앞에 서서
  Cornelius answered: "Four days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me

31. 말하되 고넬료야 하나님이 네 기도를 들으시고 네 구제를 기억하셨으니
  and said, 'Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.

32. 사람을 욥바에 보내어 베드로라 하는 시몬을 청하라 저가 바닷가 피장 시몬의 집에 우거하느니라 하시기로
  Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.'

33. 내가 곧 당신에게 사람을 보내었더니 오셨으니 잘하였나이다 이제 우리는 주께서 당신에게 명하신 모든 것을 듣고자 하여 다 하나님 앞에 있나이다
  So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us."

34. 베드로가 입을 열어 가로되 내가 참으로 하나님은 사람의 외모를 취하지 아니하시고
  Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism

35. 각 나라 중 하나님을 경외하며 의를 행하는 사람은 하나님이 받으시는 줄 깨달았도다
  but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.

36. 만유의 주 되신 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 화평의 복음을 전하사 이스라엘 자손들에게 보내신 말씀
  You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

37. 곧 요한이 그 세례를 반포한 후에 갈릴리에서 시작되어 온 유대에 두루 전파된 그것을 너희도 알거니와
  You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached--

38. 하나님이 나사렛 예수에게 성령과 능력을 기름붓듯 하셨으매 저가 두루 다니시며 착한 일을 행하시고 마귀에게 눌린 모든 자를 고치셨으니 이는 하나님이 함께 하셨음이라
  how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

39. 우리는 유대인의 땅과 예루살렘에서 그의 행하신 모든 일에 증인이라 그를 저희가 나무에 달아 죽였으나
  "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,

40. 하나님이 사흘 만에 다시 살리사 나타내시되
  but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.

41. 모든 백성에게 하신 것이 아니요 오직 미리 택하신 증인 곧 죽은 자 가운데서 일어나신 후 모시고 음식을 먹은 우리에게 하신 것이라
  He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

42. 우리를 명하사 백성에게 전도하되 하나님이 산 자와 죽은 자의 재판장으로 정하신 자가 곧 이 사람인 것을 증거하게 하셨고
  He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.

43. 저에 대하여 모든 선지자도 증거하되 저를 믿는 사람들이 다 그 이름을 힘입어 죄 사함을 받는다 하였느니라
  All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

44. 베드로가 이 말 할 때에 성령이 말씀 듣는 모든 사람에게 내려오시니
  While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.

45. 베드로와 함께 온 할례받은 신자들이 이방인들에게도 성령 부어 주심을 인하여 놀라니
  The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

46. 이는 방언을 말하며 하나님 높임을 들음이러라
  For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,

47. 이에 베드로가 가로되 이 사람들이 우리와 같이 성령을 받았으니 누가 능히 물로 세례 줌을 금하리요 하고
  "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."

48. 명하여 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 주라 하니라 저희가 베드로에게 수일 더 유하기를 청하니라
  So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.
