역대하 34

1. 요시야가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 팔 세라 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년을 치리하며
  Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years.

2. 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하여 그 조상 다윗의 길로 행하여 좌우로 치우치지 아니하고
  He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.

3. 오히려 어렸을 때 곧 위에 있은 지 팔 년에 그 조상 다윗의 하나님을 비로소 구하고 그 십이년에 유다와 예루살렘을 비로소 정결케 하여 그 산당과 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들과 부어 만든 우상들을 제하여 버리매
  In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David. In his twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of high places, Asherah poles, carved idols and cast images.

4. 무리가 왕의 앞에서 바알들의 단을 훼파하였으며 왕이 또 그 단 위에 높이 달린 태양상들을 찍고 또 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들과 부어 만든 우상들을 빻아 가루를 만들어 거기 제사하던 자들의 무덤에 뿌리고
  Under his direction the altars of the Baals were torn down; he cut to pieces the incense altars that were above them, and smashed the Asherah poles, the idols and the images. These he broke to pieces and scattered over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

5. 제사장들의 뼈를 단 위에서 불살라 유다와 예루살렘을 정결케 하였으며
  He burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and so he purged Judah and Jerusalem.

6. 또 므낫세와 에브라임과 시므온과 납달리까지 사면 황폐한 성읍들에도 그렇게 행하여
  In the towns of Manasseh, Ephraim and Simeon, as far as Naphtali, and in the ruins around them,

7. 단들을 훼파하며 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들을 빻아 가루를 만들며 온 이스라엘 땅에 있는 모든 태양상을 찍고 예루살렘으로 돌아왔더라
  he tore down the altars and the Asherah poles and crushed the idols to powder and cut to pieces all the incense altars throughout Israel. Then he went back to Jerusalem.

8. 요시야가 위에 있은 지 십팔 년에 그 땅과 전을 정결케 하기를 마치고 그 하나님 여호와의 전을 수리하려 하여 아살랴의 아들 사반과 부윤 마아세야와 서기관 요아하스의 아들 요아를 보낸지라
  In the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign, to purify the land and the temple, he sent Shaphan son of Azaliah and Maaseiah the ruler of the city, with Joah son of Joahaz, the recorder, to repair the temple of the LORD his God.

9. 저희가 대제사장 힐기야에게 나아가 전에 하나님의 전에 연보한 돈을 저에게 붙이니 이 돈은 문을 지키는 레위 사람이 므낫세와 에브라임과 남아 있는 이스라엘 사람과 온 유다와 베냐민과 예루살렘 거민들에게서 거둔 것이라
  They went to Hilkiah the high priest and gave him the money that had been brought into the temple of God, which the Levites who were the doorkeepers had collected from the people of Manasseh, Ephraim and the entire remnant of Israel and from all the people of Judah and Benjamin and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10. 그 돈을 여호와의 전 역사를 감독하는 자의 손에 붙이니 저희가 여호와의 전에 있는 공장에게 주어 그 전을 수리하게 하되
  Then they entrusted it to the men appointed to supervise the work on the LORD'S temple. These men paid the workers who repaired and restored the temple.

11. 곧 목수와 건축하는 자에게 붙여 다듬은 돌과 연접하는 나무를 사며 유다 왕들이 헐어 버린 전들을 위하여 들보를 만들게 하매
  They also gave money to the carpenters and builders to purchase dressed stone, and timber for joists and beams for the buildings that the kings of Judah had allowed to fall into ruin.

12. 그 사람들이 진실히 그 일을 하니라 그 감독은 레위 사람 곧 므라리 자손 중 야핫과 오바댜요 그핫 자손 중 스가랴와 무술람이라 다 그 일을 주장하고 또 음악에 익숙한 레위 사람이 함께 하였으며
  The men did the work faithfully. Over them to direct them were Jahath and Obadiah, Levites descended from Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, descended from Kohath. The Levites--all who were skilled in playing musical instruments--

13. 저희가 또 담부하는 자를 관할하며 범백 공장을 동독하고 어떤 레위 사람은 서기와 관리와 문지기가 되었더라
  had charge of the laborers and supervised all the workers from job to job. Some of the Levites were secretaries, scribes and doorkeepers.

14. 무리가 여호와의 전에 연보한 돈을 꺼낼 때에 제사장 힐기야가 모세의 전한 여호와의 율법책을 발견하고
  While they were bringing out the money that had been taken into the temple of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the LORD that had been given through Moses.

15. 서기관 사반에게 일러 가로되 내가 여호와의 전에서 율법책을 발견하였노라 하고 그 책을 사반에게 주매
  Hilkiah said to Shaphan the secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the LORD." He gave it to Shaphan.

16. 사반이 책을 가지고 왕에게 나아가서 복명하여 가로되 왕께서 종들에게 명하신 것을 종들이 다 준행하였나이다
  Then Shaphan took the book to the king and reported to him: "Your officials are doing everything that has been committed to them.

17. 또 여호와의 전에 있던 돈을 쏟아서 감독자와 공장의 손에 붙였나이다 하고
  They have paid out the money that was in the temple of the LORD and have entrusted it to the supervisors and workers."

18. 서기관 사반이 또 왕에게 고하여 가로되 제사장 힐기야가 내게 책을 주더이다 하고 사반이 왕의 앞에서 읽으매
  Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book." And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

19. 왕이 율법의 말씀을 듣자 곧 자기 옷을 찢더라
  When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes.

20. 왕이 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가의 아들 압돈과 서기관 사반과 왕의 시신 아사야에게 명하여 가로되
  He gave these orders to Hilkiah, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Abdon son of Micah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king's attendant:

21. 너희는 가서 나와 및 이스라엘과 유다의 남은 자를 위하여 이 발견한 책의 말씀에 대하여 여호와께 물으라 우리 열조가 여호와의 말씀을 지키지 아니하고 이 책에 기록된 모든 것을 준행치 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 우리에게 쏟으신 진노가 크도다
  "Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the remnant in Israel and Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD'S anger that is poured out on us because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written in this book."

22. 이에 힐기야와 왕의 보낸 사람들이 여선지자 훌다에게로 나아가니 저는 하스라의 손자 독핫의 아들 예복을 주관하는 살룸의 아내라 예루살렘 둘째 구역에 거하였더라 저희가 그에게 이 뜻으로 고하매
  Hilkiah and those the king had sent with him went to speak to the prophetess Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District.

23. 훌다가 저희에게 이르되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀으로 너희는 너희를 내게 보낸 사람에게 고하기를
  She said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Tell the man who sent you to me,

24. 여호와의 말씀이 내가 이 곳과 그 거민에게 재앙을 내리되 곧 유다 왕 앞에서 읽은 책에 기록된 모든 저주대로 하리니
  'This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people--all the curses written in the book that has been read in the presence of the king of Judah.

25. 이는 이 백성이 나를 버리고 다른 신에게 분향하며 그 손의 모든 소위로 나의 노를 격발하였음이라 그러므로 나의 노를 이 곳에 쏟으매 꺼지지 아니하리라 하라 하셨느니라
  Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and provoked me to anger by all that their hands have made, my anger will be poured out on this place and will not be quenched.'

26. 너희를 보내어 여호와께 묻게 한 유다 왕에게는 너희가 이렇게 고하라 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 네가 들은 말을 의논컨대
  Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard:

27. 내가 이 곳과 그 거민을 가리켜 말한 것을 네가 듣고 마음이 연하여 하나님 앞 곧 내 앞에서 겸비하여 옷을 찢고 통곡하였으므로 나도 네 말을 들었노라 여호와가 말하였느니라
  Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the LORD.

28. 그러므로 내가 너로 너의 열조에게 돌아가서 평안히 묘실로 들어가게 하리니 내가 이 곳과 그 거민에게 내리는 모든 재앙을 네가 눈으로 보지 못하리라 하셨느니라 사자들이 왕에게 복명하니라
  Now I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place and on those who live here.'" So they took her answer back to the king.

29. 왕이 보내어 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로를 불러 모으고
  Then the king called together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30. 이에 여호와의 전에 올라가매 유다 모든 사람과 예루살렘 거민과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 모든 백성이 무론노소하고 다 함께 한지라 왕이 여호와의 전 안에서 발견한 언약책의 모든 말씀을 읽어 무리의 귀에 들리고
  He went up to the temple of the LORD with the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, the priests and the Levites--all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the LORD.

31. 왕이 자기 처소에 서서 여호와 앞에서 언약을 세우되 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하여 여호와를 순종하고 그 계명과 법도와 율례를 지켜 이 책에 기록된 언약의 말씀을 이루리라 하고
  The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD--to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.

32. 예루살렘과 베냐민에 있는 자들로 다 이에 참가하게 하매 예루살렘 거민이 하나님 곧 그 열조의 하나님의 언약을 좇으니라
  Then he had everyone in Jerusalem and Benjamin pledge themselves to it; the people of Jerusalem did this in accordance with the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

33. 이와 같이 요시야가 이스라엘 자손에게 속한 모든 땅에서 가증한 것을 다 제하여 버리고 이스라엘의 모든 사람으로 그 하나님 여호와를 섬기게 하였으므로 요시야가 사는 날에 백성이 그 열조의 하나님 여호와께 복종하고 떠나지 아니하였더라
  Josiah removed all the detestable idols from all the territory belonging to the Israelites, and he had all who were present in Israel serve the LORD their God. As long as he lived, they did not fail to follow the LORD, the God of their fathers.

요한계시록 20

1. 또 내가 보매 천사가 무저갱 열쇠와 큰 쇠사슬을 그 손에 가지고 하늘로서 내려와서
  And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.

2. 용을 잡으니 곧 옛 뱀이요 마귀요 사단이라 잡아 일천 년 동안 결박하여
  He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

3. 무저갱에 던져 잠그고 그 위에 인봉하여 천년이 차도록 다시는 만국을 미혹하지 못하게 하였다가 그 후에는 반드시 잠간 놓이리라
  He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

4. 또 내가 보좌들을 보니 거기 앉은 자들이 있어 심판하는 권세를 받았더라 또 내가 보니 예수의 증거와 하나님의 말씀을 인하여 목 베임을 받은 자의 영혼들과 또 짐승과 그의 우상에게 경배하지도 아니하고 이마와 손에 그의 표를 받지도 아니한 자들이 살아서 그리스도로 더불어 천 년 동안 왕 노릇 하니
  I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5. (그 나머지 죽은 자들은 그 천년이 차기까지 살지 못하더라) 이는 첫째 부활이라
  (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.

6. 이 첫째 부활에 참예하는 자들은 복이 있고 거룩하도다 둘째 사망이 그들을 다스리는 권세가 없고 도리어 그들이 하나님과 그리스도의 제사장이 되어 천 년 동안 그리스도로 더불어 왕 노릇 하리라
  Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

7. 천 년이 차매 사단이 그 옥에서 놓여
  When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison

8. 나와서 땅의 사방 백성 곧 곡과 마곡을 미혹하고 모아 싸움을 붙이리니 그 수가 바다 모래 같으리라
  and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth--Gog and Magog--to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.

9. 저희가 지면에 널리 퍼져 성도들의 진과 사랑하시는 성을 두르매 하늘에서 불이 내려와 저희를 소멸하고
  They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

10. 또 저희를 미혹하는 마귀가 불과 유황 못에 던지우니 거기는 그 짐승과 거짓 선지자도 있어 세세토록 밤낮 괴로움을 받으리라
  And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11. 또 내가 크고 흰 보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 자를 보니 땅과 하늘이 그 앞에서 피하여 간데없더라
  Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.

12. 또 내가 보니 죽은 자들이 무론 대소하고 그 보좌 앞에 섰는데 책들이 펴 있고 또 다른 책이 펴졌으니 곧 생명책이라 죽은 자들이 자기 행위를 따라 책들에 기록된 대로 심판을 받으니
  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

13. 바다가 그 가운데서 죽은 자들을 내어 주고 또 사망과 음부도 그 가운데서 죽은 자들을 내어 주매 각 사람이 자기의 행위대로 심판을 받고
  The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.

14. 사망과 음부도 불못에 던지우니 이것은 둘째 사망 곧 불못이라
  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

15. 누구든지 생명책에 기록되지 못한 자는 불못에 던지우더라
  If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

말라기 2

1. 너희 제사장들아 이제 너희에게 이같이 명령하노라
  "And now this admonition is for you, O priests.

2. 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 만일 듣지 아니하며 마음에 두지 아니하여 내 이름을 영화롭게 하지 아니하면 내가 너희에게 저주를 내려 너희의 복을 저주하리라 내가 이미 저주하였나니 이는 너희가 그것을 마음에 두지 아니하였음이니라
  If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name," says the LORD Almighty, "I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me.

3. 보라 내가 너희의 종자를 견책할 것이요 똥 곧 너희 절기의 희생의 똥을 너희 얼굴에 바를 것이라 너희가 그것과 함께 제하여 버림을 당하리라
  "Because of you I will rebuke your descendants; I will spread on your faces the offal from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it.

4. 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 내가 이 명령을 너희에게 내린 것은 레위와 세운 나의 언약이 항상 있게 하려 함인 줄을 너희가 알리라
  And you will know that I have sent you this admonition so that my covenant with Levi may continue," says the LORD Almighty.

5. 레위와 세운 나의 언약은 생명과 평강의 언약이라 내가 이것으로 그에게 준 것은 그로 경외하게 하려 함이라 그가 나를 경외하고 내 이름을 두려워하였으며
  "My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.

6. 그 입에는 진리의 법이 있었고 그 입술에는 불의함이 없었으며 그가 화평과 정직한 중에서 나와 동행하며 많은 사람을 돌이켜 죄악에서 떠나게 하였느니라
  True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.

7. 대저 제사장의 입술은 지식을 지켜야 하겠고 사람들이 그 입에서 율법을 구하게 되어야 할 것이니 제사장은 만군의 여호와의 사자가 됨이어늘
  "For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction--because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.

8. 너희는 정도에서 떠나 많은 사람으로 율법에 거치게 하도다 나 만군의 여호와가 이르노니 너희가 레위의 언약을 파하였느니라
  But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi," says the LORD Almighty.

9. 너희가 내 도를 지키지 아니하고 율법을 행할 때에 사람에게 편벽되이 하였으므로 나도 너희로 모든 백성 앞에 멸시와 천대를 당하게 하였느니라 하시니라
  "So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law."

10. 우리는 한 아버지를 가지지 아니하였느냐 한 하나님의 지으신 바가 아니냐 어찌하여 우리 각 사람이 자기 형제에게 궤사를 행하여 우리 열조의 언약을 욕되게 하느냐
  Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our fathers by breaking faith with one another?

11. 유다는 궤사를 행하였고 이스라엘과 예루살렘 중에서는 가증한 일을 행하였으며 유다는 여호와의 사랑하시는 그 성결을 욕되게 하여 이방 신의 딸과 결혼하였으니
  Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD loves, by marrying the daughter of a foreign god.

12. 이 일을 행하는 사람에게 속한 자는 깨는 자나 응답하는 자는 물론이요 만군의 여호와께 제사를 드리는 자도 여호와께서 야곱의 장막 가운데서 끊어 버리시리라
  As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD cut him off from the tents of Jacob--even though he brings offerings to the LORD Almighty.

13. 너희가 이런 일도 행하나니 곧 눈물과 울음과 탄식으로 여호와의 단을 가리우게 하도다 그러므로 여호와께서 다시는 너희의 헌물을 돌아보지도 아니하시며 그것을 너희 손에서 기꺼이 받지도 아니하시거늘
  Another thing you do: You flood the LORD'S altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.

14. 너희는 이르기를 어찜이니까 하는도다 이는 너와 너의 어려서 취한 아내 사이에 여호와께서 일찌기 증거하셨음을 인함이니라 그는 네 짝이요 너와 맹약한 아내로되 네가 그에게 궤사를 행하도다
  You ask, "Why?" It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.

15. 여호와는 영이 유여하실찌라도 오직 하나를 짓지 아니하셨느냐 어찌하여 하나만 지으셨느냐 이는 경건한 자손을 얻고자 하심이니라 그러므로 네 심령을 삼가 지켜 어려서 취한 아내에게 궤사를 행치 말찌니라
  Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.

16. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이르노니 나는 이혼하는 것과 학대로 옷을 가리우는 자를 미워하노라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라 그러므로 너희 심령을 삼가 지켜 궤사를 행치 말찌니라
  "I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.

17. 너희가 말로 여호와를 괴로우시게 하고도 이르기를 우리가 어떻게 여호와를 괴로우시게 하였나 하는도다 이는 너희가 말하기를 모든 행악하는 자는 여호와의 눈에 선히 보이며 그에게 기쁨이 된다 하며 또 말하기를 공의의 하나님이 어디 계시냐 함이니라
  You have wearied the LORD with your words. "How have we wearied him?" you ask. By saying, "All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them" or "Where is the God of justice?"

요한복음 19

1. 이에 빌라도가 예수를 데려다가 채찍질하더라
  Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.

2. 군병들이 가시로 면류관을 엮어 그의 머리에 씌우고 자색 옷을 입히고
  The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe

3. 앞에 와서 가로되 유대인의 왕이여 평안할찌어다 하며 손바닥으로 때리더라
  and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face.

4. 빌라도가 다시 밖에 나가 말하되 보라 이 사람을 데리고 너희에게 나오나니 이는 내가 그에게서 아무 죄도 찾지 못한 것을 너희로 알게 하려 함이로라 하더라
  Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, "Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him."

5. 이에 예수께서 가시 면류관을 쓰고 자색 옷을 입고 나오시니 빌라도가 저희에게 말하되 보라 이 사람이로다 하매
  When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"

6. 대제사장들과 하속들이 예수를 보고 소리질러 가로되 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 하는지라 빌라도가 가로되 너희가 친히 데려다가 십자가에 못 박으라 나는 그에게서 죄를 찾지 못하노라
  As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him."

7. 유대인들이 대답하되 우리에게 법이 있으니 그 법대로 하면 저가 당연히 죽을 것은 저가 자기를 하나님 아들이라 함이니이다
  The Jews insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God."

8. 빌라도가 이 말을 듣고 더욱 두려워하여
  When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,

9. 다시 관정에 들어가서 예수께 말하되 너는 어디로서냐 하되 예수께서 대답하여 주지 아니하시는지라
  and he went back inside the palace. "Where do you come from?" he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

10. 빌라도가 가로되 내게 말하지 아니하느냐 내가 너를 놓을 권세도 있고 십자가에 못 박을 권세도 있는 줄 알지 못하느냐
  "Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?"

11. 예수께서 대답하시되 위에서 주지 아니하셨더면 나를 해할 권세가 없었으리니 그러므로 나를 네게 넘겨 준 자의 죄는 더 크니라 하시니
  Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

12. 이러하므로 빌라도가 예수를 놓으려고 힘썼으나 유대인들이 소리질러 가로되 이 사람을 놓으면 가이사의 충신이 아니니이다 무릇 자기를 왕이라 하는 자는 가이사를 반역하는 것이니이다
  From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."

13. 빌라도가 이 말을 듣고 예수를 끌고 나와서 박석 (히브리 말로 가바다) 이란 곳에서 재판석에 앉았더라
  When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge's seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha).

14. 이 날은 유월절의 예비일이요 때는 제 육 시라 빌라도가 유대인들에게 이르되 보라 너희 왕이로다
  It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour. "Here is your king," Pilate said to the Jews.

15. 저희가 소리지르되 없이 하소서 없이 하소서 저를 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 빌라도가 가로되 내가 너희 왕을 십자가에 못 박으랴 대제사장들이 대답하되 가이사 외에는 우리에게 왕이 없나이다 하니
  But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!" "Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked. "We have no king but Caesar," the chief priests answered.

16. 이에 예수를 십자가에 못 박히게 저희에게 넘겨 주니라
  Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.

17. 저희가 예수를 맡으매 예수께서 자기의 십자가를 지시고 해골 ( 히브리 말로 골고다) 이라 하는 곳에 나오시니
  Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).

18. 저희가 거기서 예수를 십자가에 못 박을쌔 다른 두 사람도 그와 함께 좌우편에 못 박으니 예수는 가운데 있더라
  Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

19. 빌라도가 패를 써서 십자가 위에 붙이니 나사렛 예수 유대인의 왕이라 기록되었더라
  Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20. 예수의 못 박히신 곳이 성에서 가까운 고로 많은 유대인이 이 패를 읽는데 히브리와 로마와 헬라 말로 기록되었더라
  Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

21. 유대인의 대제사장들이 빌라도에게 이르되 유대인의 왕이라 말고 자칭 유대인의 왕이라 쓰라 하니
  The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, "Do not write 'The King of the Jews,' but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews."

22. 빌라도가 대답하되 나의 쓸 것을 썼다 하니라
  Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."

23. 군병들이 예수를 십자가에 못 박고 그의 옷을 취하여 네 깃에 나눠 각각 한 깃씩 얻고 속옷도 취하니 이 속옷은 호지 아니하고 위에서부터 통으로 짠 것이라
  When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

24. 군병들이 서로 말하되 이것을 찢지 말고 누가 얻나 제비뽑자 하니 이는 성경에 저희가 내 옷을 나누고 내 옷을 제비뽑나이다 한 것을 응하게 하려 함이러라 군병들은 이런 일을 하고
  "Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it." This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, "They divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing." So this is what the soldiers did.

25. 예수의 십자가 곁에는 그 모친과 이모와 글로바의 아내 마리아와 막달라 마리아가 섰는지라
  Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

26. 예수께서 그 모친과 사랑하시는 제자가 곁에 섰는 것을 보시고 그 모친께 말씀하시되 여자여 보소서 아들이니이다 하시고
  When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son,"

27. 또 그 제자에게 이르시되 보라 네 어머니라 하신대 그 때부터 그 제자가 자기 집에 모시니라
  and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

28. 이 후에 예수께서 모든 일이 이미 이룬 줄 아시고 성경으로 응하게 하려 하사 가라사대 내가 목마르다 하시니
  Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty."

29. 거기 신 포도주가 가득히 담긴 그릇이 있는지라 사람들이 신 포도주를 머금은 해융을 우슬초에 매어 예수의 입에 대니
  A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips.

30. 예수께서 신 포도주를 받으신 후 가라사대 다 이루었다 하시고 머리를 숙이시고 영혼이 돌아가시니라
  When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31. 이 날은 예비일이라 유대인들은 그 안식일이 큰 날이므로 그 안식일에 시체들을 십자가에 두지 아니하려 하여 빌라도에게 그들의 다리를 꺾어 시체를 치워 달라 하니
  Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

32. 군병들이 가서 예수와 함께 못 박힌 첫째 사람과 또 그 다른 사람의 다리를 꺾고
  The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.

33. 예수께 이르러는 이미 죽은 것을 보고 다리를 꺾지 아니하고
  But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

34. 그 중 한 군병이 창으로 옆구리를 찌르니 곧 피와 물이 나오더라
  Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

35. 이를 본 자가 증거하였으니 그 증거가 참이라 저가 자기의 말하는 것이 참인 줄 알고 너희로 믿게 하려 함이니라
  The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

36. 이 일이 이룬 것은 그 뼈가 하나도 꺾이우지 아니하리라 한 성경을 응하게 하려 함이라
  These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken,"

37. 또 다른 성경에 저희가 그 찌른 자를 보리라 하였느니라
  and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced."

38. 아리마대 사람 요셉이 예수의 제자나 유대인을 두려워하여 은휘하더니 이 일 후에 빌라도더러 예수의 시체를 가져가기를 구하매 빌라도가 허락하는지라 이에 가서 예수의 시체를 가져가니라
  Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away.

39. 일찍 예수께 밤에 나아왔던 니고데모도 몰약과 침향 섞은 것을 백 근쯤 가지고 온지라
  He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.

40. 이에 예수의 시체를 가져다가 유대인의 장례법대로 그 향품과 함께 세마포로 쌌더라
  Taking Jesus' body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

41. 예수의 십자가에 못 박히신 곳에 동산이 있고 동산 안에 아직 사람을 장사한 일이 없는 새 무덤이 있는지라
  At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.

42. 이 날은 유대인의 예비일이요 또 무덤이 가까운 고로 예수를 거기 두니라
  Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.
