역대하 27-28

1. 요담이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십 오세라 예루살렘에서 십 륙년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 여루사라 사독의 딸이더라
  Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.

2. 요담이 그 부친 웃시야의 모든 행위대로 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 여호와의 전에는 들어가지 아니하였고 백성은 오히려 사악을 행하였더라
  He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done, but unlike him he did not enter the temple of the LORD. The people, however, continued their corrupt practices.

3. 저가 여호와의 전 윗문을 건축하고 또 오벨 성을 많이 증축하고
  Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD and did extensive work on the wall at the hill of Ophel.

4. 유다 산중에 성읍을 건축하며 수풀 가운데 견고한 영채와 망대를 건축하고
  He built towns in the Judean hills and forts and towers in the wooded areas.

5. 암몬 자손의 왕으로 더불어 싸워 이기었더니 그 해에 암몬 자손이 은 일백 달란트와 밀 일만 석과 보리 일만 석을 드렸고 제 이 년과 제 삼 년에도 암몬 자손이 그와 같이 드렸더라
  Jotham made war on the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand cors of barley. The Ammonites brought him the same amount also in the second and third years.

6. 요담이 그 하나님 여호와 앞에서 정도를 행하였으므로 점점 강하여졌더라
  Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the LORD his God.

7. 요담의 남은 사적과 그 모든 전쟁과 행위는 이스라엘과 유다 열왕기에 기록되니라
  The other events in Jotham's reign, including all his wars and the other things he did, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8. 요담이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십 오세요 예루살렘에서 치리한지 십 륙년이라
  He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years.

9. 저가 그 열조와 함께 자매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그 아들 아하스가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.

1. 아하스가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십세라 예루살렘에서 십 륙년을 치리하였으나 그 조상 다윗과 같지 아니하여 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행치 아니하고
  Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD.

2. 이스라엘 열왕의 길로 행하여 바알들의 우상을 부어 만들고
  He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and also made cast idols for worshiping the Baals.

3. 또 힌놈의 아들 골짜기에서 분향하고 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 이방 사람의 가증한 일을 본받아 그 자녀를 불사르고
  He burned sacrifices in the Valley of Ben Hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire, following the detestable ways of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

4. 또 산당과 작은 산 위와 모든 푸른 나무 아래에서 제사를 드리며 분향한지라
  He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree.

5. 그러므로 그 하나님 여호와께서 아람 왕의 손에 붙이시매 저희가 쳐서 심히 많은 무리를 사로잡아 가지고 다메섹으로 갔으며 또 이스라엘 왕의 손에 붙이시매 저가 쳐서 크게 살륙하였으니
  Therefore the LORD his God handed him over to the king of Aram. The Arameans defeated him and took many of his people as prisoners and brought them to Damascus. He was also given into the hands of the king of Israel, who inflicted heavy casualties on him.

6. 이는 그 열조의 하나님 여호와를 버렸음이라 르말랴의 아들 베가가 유다에서 하루 동안에 용사 십이만 명을 죽였으며
  In one day Pekah son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand soldiers in Judah--because Judah had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.

7. 에브라임의 용사 시그리는 왕의 아들 마아세야와 궁내대신 아스리감과 총리대신 엘가나를 죽였더라
  Zicri, an Ephraimite warrior, killed Maaseiah the king's son, Azrikam the officer in charge of the palace, and Elkanah, second to the king.

8. 이스라엘 자손이 그 형제 중에서 그 아내와 자녀 합하여 이십만 명을 사로잡고 그 재물을 많이 노략하여 사마리아로 가져가니
  The Israelites took captive from their kinsmen two hundred thousand wives, sons and daughters. They also took a great deal of plunder, which they carried back to Samaria.

9. 그 곳에 여호와의 선지자가 있는데 이름은 오뎃이라 저가 사마리아로 돌아오는 군대를 영접하고 저희에게 이르되 너희 열조의 하나님 여호와께서 유다를 진노하신 고로 너희 손에 붙이셨거늘 너희 노기가 충천하여 살륙하고
  But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army when it returned to Samaria. He said to them, "Because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he gave them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches to heaven.

10. 이제 너희가 또 유다와 예루살렘 백성들을 압제하여 노예를 삼고자 생각하는도다 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와께 범죄함이 없느냐
  And now you intend to make the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem your slaves. But aren't you also guilty of sins against the LORD your God?

11. 그런즉 너희는 내 말을 듣고 너희가 형제 중에서 사로잡아 온 포로를 놓아 돌아가게 하라 여호와의 진노가 너희에게 임박하였느니라 한지라
  Now listen to me! Send back your fellow countrymen you have taken as prisoners, for the LORD'S fierce anger rests on you."

12. 에브라임 자손의 두목 몇 사람 요하난의 아들 아사랴와 무실레못의 아들 베레갸와 살룸의 아들 여히스기야와 하들래의 아들 아마사가 일어나서 전장에서 돌아오는 자를 막으며
  Then some of the leaders in Ephraim--Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berekiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai--confronted those who were arriving from the war.

13. 저희에게 이르되 너희는 이 포로를 이리로 끌어들이지 못하리라 너희의 경영하는 일이 우리로 여호와께 허물이 있게 함이니 우리의 죄와 허물을 더하게 함이로다 우리의 허물이 이미 커서 진노하심이 이스라엘에게 임박하였느니라 하매
  "You must not bring those prisoners here," they said, "or we will be guilty before the LORD. Do you intend to add to our sin and guilt? For our guilt is already great, and his fierce anger rests on Israel."

14. 이에 병기를 가진 사람이 포로와 노략한 물건을 방백들과 온 회중 앞에 둔지라
  So the soldiers gave up the prisoners and plunder in the presence of the officials and all the assembly.

15. 이 위에 이름이 기록된 자들이 일어나서 포로를 맞고 노략하여 온 중에서 옷을 취하여 벗은 자에게 입히며 신을 신기며 먹이고 마시우며 기름을 바르고 그 약한 자는 나귀에 태워 데리고 종려나무 성 여리고에 이르러 그 형제에게 돌린 후에 사마리아로 돌아갔더라
  The men designated by name took the prisoners, and from the plunder they clothed all who were naked. They provided them with clothes and sandals, food and drink, and healing balm. All those who were weak they put on donkeys. So they took them back to their fellow countrymen at Jericho, the City of Palms, and returned to Samaria.

16. 그 때에 아하스 왕이 앗수르 왕에게 보내어 도와 주기를 구하였으니
  At that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria for help.

17. 이는 에돔 사람이 다시 와서 유다를 치고 그 백성을 사로잡았음이며
  The Edomites had again come and attacked Judah and carried away prisoners,

18. 블레셋 사람도 유다의 평지와 남방 성읍들을 침노하여 벧세메스와 아얄론과 그데롯과 소고와 그 동네와 딤나와 그 동네와 김소와 그 동네를 취하고 거기 거하였으니
  while the Philistines had raided towns in the foothills and in the Negev of Judah. They captured and occupied Beth Shemesh, Aijalon and Gederoth, as well as Soco, Timnah and Gimzo, with their surrounding villages.

19. 이는 이스라엘 왕 아하스가 유다에서 망령되이 행하여 여호와께 크게 범죄하였으므로 여호와께서 유다를 낮추심이라
  The LORD had humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had promoted wickedness in Judah and had been most unfaithful to the LORD.

20. 앗수르 왕 디글랏 빌레셀이 이르렀으나 돕지 아니하고 도리어 군박하였더라
  Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came to him, but he gave him trouble instead of help.

21. 아하스가 여호와의 전과 왕궁과 방백들의 집에서 재물을 취하여 앗수르 왕에게 주었으나 유익이 없었더라
  Ahaz took some of the things from the temple of the LORD and from the royal palace and from the princes and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him.

22. 이 아하스 왕이 곤고할 때에 더욱 여호와께 범죄하여
  In his time of trouble King Ahaz became even more unfaithful to the LORD.

23. 자기를 친 다메섹 신들에게 제사하여 가로되 아람 열왕의 신들이 저희를 도왔으니 나도 그 신에게 제사하여 나를 돕게 하리라 하였으나 그 신이 아하스와 온 이스라엘을 망케 하였더라
  He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, "Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me." But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.

24. 아하스가 하나님의 전의 기구들을 모아 훼파하고 또 여호와의 전 문들을 닫고 예루살렘 구석마다 단을 쌓고
  Ahaz gathered together the furnishings from the temple of God and took them away. He shut the doors of the LORD'S temple and set up altars at every street corner in Jerusalem.

25. 유다 각 성읍에 산당을 세워 다른 신에게 분향하여 그 열조의 하나님 여호와의 노를 격발케 하였더라
  In every town in Judah he built high places to burn sacrifices to other gods and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers, to anger.

26. 아하스의 이 외의 시종 사적과 모든 행위는 유다와 이스라엘 열왕기에 기록되니라
  The other events of his reign and all his ways, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27. 아하스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 이스라엘 열왕의 묘실에 들이지 아니하고 예루살렘 성에 장사하였더라 그 아들 히스기야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son succeeded him as king.

요한계시록 14

1. 또 내가 보니 보라 어린 양이 시온 산에 섰고 그와 함께 십사만 사천이 섰는데 그 이마에 어린 양의 이름과 그 아버지의 이름을 쓴 것이 있도다
  Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

2. 내가 하늘에서 나는 소리를 들으니 많은 물 소리도 같고 큰 뇌성도 같은데 내게 들리는 소리는 거문고 타는 자들의 그 거문고 타는 것 같더라
  And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps.

3. 저희가 보좌와 네 생물과 장로들 앞에서 새 노래를 부르니 땅에서 구속함을 얻은 십사만 사천 인밖에는 능히 이 노래를 배울 자가 없더라
  And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.

4. 이 사람들은 여자로 더불어 더럽히지 아니하고 정절이 있는 자라 어린 양이 어디로 인도하든지 따라가는 자며 사람 가운데서 구속을 받아 처음 익은 열매로 하나님과 어린 양에게 속한 자들이니
  These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.

5. 그 입에 거짓말이 없고 흠이 없는 자들이더라
  No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

6. 또 보니 다른 천사가 공중에 날아가는데 땅에 거하는 자들 곧 여러 나라와 족속과 방언과 백성에게 전할 영원한 복음을 가졌더라
  Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth--to every nation, tribe, language and people.

7. 그가 큰 음성으로 가로되 하나님을 두려워하며 그에게 영광을 돌리라 이는 그의 심판하실 시간이 이르렀음이니 하늘과 땅과 바다와 물들의 근원을 만드신 이를 경배하라 하더라
  He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water."

8. 또 다른 천사 곧 둘째가 그 뒤를 따라 말하되 무너졌도다 무너졌도다 큰 성 바벨론이여 모든 나라를 그 음행으로 인하여 진노의 포도주로 먹이던 자로다 하더라
  A second angel followed and said, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries."

9. 또 다른 천사 곧 세째가 그 뒤를 따라 큰 음성으로 가로되 만일 누구든지 짐승과 그의 우상에게 경배하고 이마에나 손에 표를 받으면
  A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand,

10. 그도 하나님의 진노의 포도주를 마시리니 그 진노의 잔에 섞인 것이 없이 부은 포도주라 거룩한 천사들 앞과 어린 양 앞에서 불과 유황으로 고난을 받으리니
  he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.

11. 그 고난의 연기가 세세토록 올라가리로다 짐승과 그의 우상에게 경배하고 그 이름의 표를 받는 자는 누구든지 밤낮 쉼을 얻지 못하리라 하더라
  And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."

12. 성도들의 인내가 여기 있나니 저희는 하나님의 계명과 예수 믿음을 지키는 자니라
  This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

13. 또 내가 들으니 하늘에서 음성이 나서 가로되 기록하라 자금 이후로 주 안에서 죽는 자들은 복이 있도다 하시매 성령이 가라사대 그러하다 저희 수고를 그치고 쉬리니 이는 저희의 행한 일이 따름이라 하시더라
  Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."

14. 또 내가 보니 흰 구름이 있고 구름 위에 사람의 아들과 같은 이가 앉았는데 그 머리에는 금면류관이 있고 그 손에는 이한 낫을 가졌더라
  I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one "like a son of man" with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.

15. 또 다른 천사가 성전으로부터 나와 구름 위에 앉은 이를 향하여 큰 음성으로 외쳐 가로되 네 낫을 휘둘러 거두라 거둘 때가 이르러 땅에 곡식이 다 익었음이로다 하니
  Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, "Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe."

16. 구름 위에 앉으신 이가 낫을 땅에 휘두르매 곡식이 거두어지니라
  So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.

17. 또 다른 천사가 하늘에 있는 성전에서 나오는데 또한 이한 낫을 가졌더라
  Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.

18. 또 불을 다스리는 다른 천사가 제단으로부터 나와 이한 낫 가진 자를 향하여 큰 음성으로 불러 가로되 네 이한 낫을 휘둘러 땅의 포도송이를 거두라 그 포도가 익었느니라 하더라
  Still another angel, who had charge of the fire, came from the altar and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, "Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth's vine, because its grapes are ripe."

19. 천사가 낫을 땅에 휘둘러 땅의 포도를 거두어 하나님의 진노의 큰 포도주 틀에 던지매
  The angel swung his sickle on the earth, gathered its grapes and threw them into the great winepress of God's wrath.

20. 성 밖에서 그 틀이 밟히니 틀에서 피가 나서 말굴레까지 닿았고 일천육백 스다디온에 퍼졌더라
  They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses' bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.

스가랴 10

1. 봄비 때에 여호와 곧 번개를 내는 여호와께 비를 구하라 무리에게 소낙비를 내려서 밭의 채소를 각 사람에게 주리라
  Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone.

2. 대저 드라빔들은 허탄한 것을 말하며 복술자는 진실치 않은 것을 보고 거짓 꿈을 말한즉 그 위로함이 헛되므로 백성이 양같이 유리하며 목자가 없으므로 곤고를 당하나니
  The idols speak deceit, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.

3. 내가 목자들에게 노를 발하며 내가 수염소들을 벌하리라 만군의 여호와가 그 무리 곧 유다 족속을 권고하여 그들로 전쟁의 준마와 같게 하리니
  "My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders; for the LORD Almighty will care for his flock, the house of Judah, and make them like a proud horse in battle.

4. 모퉁이 돌이 그에게로서, 말뚝이 그에게로서, 싸우는 활이 그에게로서, 권세 잡은 자가 다 일제히 그에게로서 나와서
  From Judah will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler.

5. 싸울 때에 용사 같이 거리의 진흙 중에 대적을 밟을 것이라 여호와가 그들과 함께한즉 그들이 싸워 말 탄 자들로 부끄러워하게하리라
  Together they will be like mighty men trampling the muddy streets in battle. Because the LORD is with them, they will fight and overthrow the horsemen.

6. 내가 유다 족속을 견고하게 하며 요셉 족속을 구원할지라 내가 그들을 긍휼히 여김으로 그들로 돌아오게 하리니 그들이 내게 내어 버리움이 없었음같이 되리라 나는 그들의 하나님 여호와라 내가 그들을 들으리라
  "I will strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them. They will be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God and I will answer them.

7. 에브라임이 용사 같아서 포도주를 마심같이 마음이 즐거울 것이요 그 자손은 보고 기뻐하며 여호와를 인하여 마음에 즐거워하리라
  The Ephraimites will become like mighty men, and their hearts will be glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will rejoice in the LORD.

8. 내가 그들을 향하여 휘파람 불어 모을 것은 내가 그들을 구속하였음이라 그들이 전에 번성하던 것같이 번성하리라
  I will signal for them and gather them in. Surely I will redeem them; they will be as numerous as before.

9. 내가 그들을 열방에 뿌리려니와 그들이 원방에서 나를 기억하고 그들의 자녀와 함께 다 생존하여 돌아올찌라
  Though I scatter them among the peoples, yet in distant lands they will remember me. They and their children will survive, and they will return.

10. 내가 그들을 애굽 땅에서 이끌어 돌아오며 그들을 앗수르에서부터 모으며 길르앗 땅과 레바논으로 그들을 이끌어 가리니 그 거할 곳이 부족하리라
  I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them to Gilead and Lebanon, and there will not be room enough for them.

11. 내가 그들로 고해를 지나게 하며 바다 물결을 치리니 나일의 깊은 곳이 다 마르겠고 앗수르의 교만이 낮아지겠고 애굽의 홀이 없어지리라
  They will pass through the sea of trouble; the surging sea will be subdued and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. Assyria's pride will be brought down and Egypt's scepter will pass away.

12. 내가 그들로 나 여호와를 의지하여 견고케 하리니 그들이 내 이름을 받들어 왕래하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  I will strengthen them in the LORD and in his name they will walk," declares the LORD.

요한복음 13

1. 유월절 전에 예수께서 자기가 세상을 떠나 아버지께로 돌아가실 때가 이른 줄 아시고 세상에 있는 자기 사람들을 사랑하시되 끝까지 사랑하시니라
  It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

2. 마귀가 벌써 시몬의 아들 가룟 유다의 마음에 예수를 팔려는 생각을 넣었더니
  The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

3. 저녁 먹는 중 예수는 아버지께서 모든 것을 자기 손에 맡기신 것과 또 자기가 하나님께로부터 오셨다가 하나님께로 돌아가실 것을 아시고
  Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;

4. 저녁 잡수시던 자리에서 일어나 겉옷을 벗고 수건을 가져다가 허리에 두르시고
  so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

5. 이에 대야에 물을 담아 제자들의 발을 씻기시고 그 두르신 수건으로 씻기기를 시작하여
  After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6. 시몬 베드로에게 이르시니 가로되 주여 주께서 내 발을 씻기시나이까
  He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"

7. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 나의 하는 것을 네가 이제는 알지 못하나 이후에는 알리라
  Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

8. 베드로가 가로되 내 발을 절대로 씻기지 못하시리이다 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 너를 씻기지 아니하면 네가 나와 상관이 없느니라
  "No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."

9. 시몬 베드로가 가로되 주여 내 발뿐 아니라 손과 머리도 씻겨 주옵소서
  "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!"

10. 예수께서 가라사대 이미 목욕한 자는 발밖에 씻을 필요가 없느니라 온 몸이 깨끗하니라 너희가 깨끗하나 다는 아니니라 하시니
  Jesus answered, "A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you."

11. 이는 자기를 팔 자가 누구인지 아심이라 그러므로 다는 깨끗지 아니하다 하시니라
  For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

12. 저희 발을 씻기신 후에 옷을 입으시고 다시 앉아 저희에게 이르시되 내가 너희에게 행한 것을 너희가 아느냐
  When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them.

13. 너희가 나를 선생이라 또는 주라 하니 너희 말이 옳도다 내가 그러하다
  "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am.

14. 내가 주와 또는 선생이 되어 너희 발을 씻겼으니 너희도 서로 발을 씻기는 것이 옳으니라
  Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.

15. 내가 너희에게 행한 것같이 너희도 행하게 하려 하여 본을 보였노라
  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

16. 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 종이 상전보다 크지 못하고 보냄을 받은 자가 보낸 자보다 크지 못하니
  I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

17. 너희가 이것을 알고 행하면 복이 있으리라
  Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

18. 내가 너희를 다 가리켜 말하는 것이 아니라 내가 나의 택한 자들이 누구인지 앎이라 그러나 내 떡을 먹는 자가 내게 발꿈치를 들었다 한 성경을 응하게 하려는 것이니라
  "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'

19. 지금부터 일이 이루기 전에 미리 너희에게 이름은 일이 이룰 때에 내가 그인 줄 너희로 믿게 하려 함이로라
  "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.

20. 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 나의 보낸 자를 영접하는 자는 나를 영접하는 것이요 나를 영접하는 자는 나를 보내신 이를 영접하는 것이니라
  I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

21. 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 심령에 민망하여 증거하여 가라사대 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중 하나가 나를 팔리라 하시니
  After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me."

22. 제자들이 서로 보며 뉘게 대하여 말씀하시는지 의심하더라
  His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.

23. 예수의 제자 중 하나 곧 그의 사랑하시는 자가 예수의 품에 의지하여 누웠는지라
  One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.

24. 시몬 베드로가 머릿짓을 하여 말하되 말씀하신 자가 누구인지 말하라 한대
  Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means."

25. 그가 예수의 가슴에 그대로 의지하여 말하되 주여 누구오니이까
  Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"

26. 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 한 조각을 찍어다가 주는 자가 그니라 하시고 곧 한 조각을 찍으셔다가 가룟 시몬의 아들 유다를 주시니
  Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.

27. 조각을 받은 후 곧 사단이 그 속에 들어간지라 이에 예수께서 유다에게 이르시되 네 하는 일을 속히 하라 하시니
  As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. "What you are about to do, do quickly," Jesus told him,

28. 이 말씀을 무슨 뜻으로 하셨는지 그 앉은 자 중에 아는 이가 없고
  but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.

29. 어떤 이들은 유다가 돈 궤를 맡았으므로 명절에 우리의 쓸 물건을 사라 하시는지 혹 가난한 자들에게 무엇을 주라 하시는 줄로 생각하더라
  Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.

30. 유다가 그 조각을 받고 곧 나가니 밤이러라
  As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.

31. 저가 나간 후에 예수께서 가라사대 지금 인자가 영광을 얻었고 하나님도 인자를 인하여 영광을 얻으셨도다
  When he was gone, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him.

32. 만일 하나님이 저로 인하여 영광을 얻으셨으면 하나님도 자기로 인하여 저에게 영광을 주시리니 곧 주시리라
  If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

33. 소자들아 내가 아직 잠시 너희와 함께 있겠노라 너희가 나를 찾을 터이나 그러나 일찍 내가 유대인들에게 너희는 나의 가는 곳에 올 수 없다고 말한 것과 같이 지금 너희에게도 이르노라
  "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.

34. 새 계명을 너희에게 주노니 서로 사랑하라 내가 너희를 사랑한 것같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라
  "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

35. 너희가 서로 사랑하면 이로써 모든 사람이 너희가 내 제자인 줄 알리라
  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

36. 시몬 베드로가 가로되 주여 어디로 가시나이까 예수께서 대답하시되 나의 가는 곳에 네가 지금은 따라올 수 없으나 후에는 따라오리라
  Simon Peter asked him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later."

37. 베드로가 가로되 주여 내가 지금은 어찌하여 따를 수 없나이까 주를 위하여 내 목숨을 버리겠나이다
  Peter asked, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."

38. 예수께서 대답하시되 네가 나를 위하여 네 목숨을 버리겠느냐 내가 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라
  Then Jesus answered, "Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
