역대상 28

1. 다윗이 이스라엘 모든 방백 곧 각 지파의 어른과 체번하여 왕을 섬기는 반장들과 천부장들과 백부장들과 및 왕과 왕자의 산업과 생축의 감독과 환관과 장사와 용사를 예루살렘으로 소집하고
  David summoned all the officials of Israel to assemble at Jerusalem: the officers over the tribes, the commanders of the divisions in the service of the king, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and livestock belonging to the king and his sons, together with the palace officials, the mighty men and all the brave warriors.

2. 이에 다윗 왕이 일어서서 가로되 나의 형제들, 나의 백성들아 내 말을 들으라 나는 여호와의 언약궤 곧 우리 하나님의 발등상을 봉안할 전 건축할 마음이 있어서 건축할 재료를 준비하였으나
  King David rose to his feet and said: "Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it.

3. 오직 하나님이 내게 이르시되 너는 군인이라 피를 흘렸으니 내 이름을 위하여 전을 건축하지 못하리라 하셨느니라
  But God said to me, 'You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.'

4. 그러나 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 전에 나를 내 부친의 온 집에서 택하여 영원히 이스라엘 왕이 되게 하셨나니 곧 하나님이 유다 지파를 택하사 머리를 삼으시고 유다의 족속에서 내 부친의 집을 택하시고 내 부친의 아들들 중에서 나를 기뻐하사 온 이스라엘의 왕을 삼으셨느니라
  "Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah he chose my family, and from my father's sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.

5. 여호와께서 내게 여러 아들을 주시고 그 모든 아들 중에서 내 아들 솔로몬을 택하사 여호와의 나라 위에 앉혀 이스라엘을 다스리게 하려 하실쌔
  Of all my sons--and the LORD has given me many--he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

6. 내게 이르시기를 네 아들 솔로몬 그가 내 전을 건축하고 내 여러 뜰을 만들리니 이는 내가 저를 택하여 내 아들을 삼고 나는 그 아비가 될 것임이라
  He said to me: 'Solomon your son is the one who will build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

7. 저가 만일 나의 계명과 규례를 힘써 준행하기를 오늘날과 같이 하면 내가 그 나라를 영원히 견고케 하리라 하셨느니라
  I will establish his kingdom forever if he is unswerving in carrying out my commands and laws, as is being done at this time.'

8. 이제 너희는 온 이스라엘 곧 여호와의 회중의 보는 데와 우리 하나님의 들으시는 데서 너희 하나님 여호와의 모든 계명을 구하여 지키기로 하라 그리하면 너희가 이 아름다운 땅을 누리고 너희 후손에게 끼쳐 영원한 기업이 되게 하리라
  "So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the LORD your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.

9. 내 아들 솔로몬아 너는 네 아비의 하나님을 알고 온전한 마음과 기쁜 뜻으로 섬길찌어다 여호와께서는 뭇 마음을 감찰하사 모든 사상을 아시나니 네가 저를 찾으면 만날 것이요 버리면 저가 너를 영원히 버리시리라
  "And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

10. 그런즉 너는 삼갈찌어다 여호와께서 너를 택하여 성소의 전을 건축하게 하셨으니 힘써 행할찌니라
  Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work."

11. 다윗이 전의 낭실과 그 집들과 그 곳간과 다락과 골방과 속죄소의 식양을 그 아들 솔로몬에게 주고
  Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its storerooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of atonement.

12. 또 성신의 가르치신 모든 식양 곧 여호와의 전의 뜰과 사면의 모든 방과 하나님의 전 곳간과 성물 곳간의 식양을 주고
  He gave him the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind for the courts of the temple of the LORD and all the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things.

13. 또 제사장과 레위 사람의 반열과 여호와의 전에 섬기는 모든 일과 섬기는 데 쓰는 모든 그릇의 식양을 설명하고
  He gave him instructions for the divisions of the priests and Levites, and for all the work of serving in the temple of the LORD, as well as for all the articles to be used in its service.

14. 또 모든 섬기는 데 쓰는 금기명을 만들 금의 중량과 모든 섬기는 데 쓰는 은기명을 만들 은의 중량을 정하고
  He designated the weight of gold for all the gold articles to be used in various kinds of service, and the weight of silver for all the silver articles to be used in various kinds of service:

15. 또 금등대들과 그 등잔 곧 각 등대와 그 등잔을 만들 금의 중량과 은등대와 그 등잔을 만들 은의 중량을 각기 적당하게 하고
  the weight of gold for the gold lampstands and their lamps, with the weight for each lampstand and its lamps; and the weight of silver for each silver lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand;

16. 또 진설병의 각 상을 만들 금의 중량을 정하고 은상을 만들 은도 그렇게 하고
  the weight of gold for each table for consecrated bread; the weight of silver for the silver tables;

17. 고기 갈고리와 대접과 종자를 만들 정금과 금잔 곧 각 잔을 만들 금의 중량과 또 은잔 곧 각 잔을 만들 은의 중량을 정하고
  the weight of pure gold for the forks, sprinkling bowls and pitchers; the weight of gold for each gold dish; the weight of silver for each silver dish;

18. 또 향단에 쓸 정금과 또 타시는 처소 된 그룹들의 식양대로 만들 금의 중량을 정하여 주니 이 그룹들은 날개를 펴서 여호와의 언약궤를 덮는 것이더라
  and the weight of the refined gold for the altar of incense. He also gave him the plan for the chariot, that is, the cherubim of gold that spread their wings and shelter the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

19. 다윗이 가로되 이 위의 모든 것의 식양을 여호와의 손이 내게 임하여 그려 나로 알게 하셨느니라
  "All this," David said, "I have in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and he gave me understanding in all the details of the plan."

20. 또 그 아들 솔로몬에게 이르되 너는 강하고 담대하게 이 일을 행하고 두려워 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 여호와의 전 역사의 모든 일을 마칠 동안에 여호와 하나님 나의 하나님이 너와 함께 하사 네게서 떠나지 아니하시고 너를 버리지 아니하시리라
  David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.

21. 제사장과 레위 사람의 반열이 있으니 여호와의 전의 모든 역사를 도울 것이요 또 모든 공역에 공교한 공장이 기쁜 마음으로 너와 함께할 것이요 또 모든 장관과 백성이 온전히 네 명령 아래 있으리라
  The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the work on the temple of God, and every willing man skilled in any craft will help you in all the work. The officials and all the people will obey your every command."

베드로후서 2

1. 그러나 민간에 또한 거짓 선지자들이 일어났었나니 이와 같이 너희 중에도 거짓 선생들이 있으리라 저희는 멸망케 할 이단을 가만히 끌어들여 자기들을 사신 주를 부인하고 임박한 멸망을 스스로 취하는 자들이라
  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.

2. 여럿이 저희 호색하는 것을 좇으리니 이로 인하여 진리의 도가 훼방을 받을 것이요
  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.

3. 저희가 탐심을 인하여 지은 말을 가지고 너희로 이를 삼으니 저희 심판은 옛적부터 지체하지 아니하며 저희 멸망은 자지 아니하느니라
  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

4. 하나님이 범죄한 천사들을 용서치 아니하시고 지옥에 던져 어두운 구덩이에 두어 심판 때까지 지키게 하셨으며
  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;

5. 옛 세상을 용서치 아니하시고 오직 의를 전파하는 노아와 그 일곱 식구를 보존하시고 경건치 아니한 자들의 세상에 홍수를 내리셨으며
  if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;

6. 소돔과 고모라 성을 멸망하기로 정하여 재가 되게 하사 후세에 경건치 아니할 자들에게 본을 삼으셨으며
  if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;

7. 무법한 자의 음란한 행실을 인하여 고통하는 의로운 롯을 건지셨으니
  and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men

8. (이 의인이 저희 중에 거하여 날마다 저 불법한 행실을 보고 들음으로 그 의로운 심령을 상하니라)
  (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--

9. 주께서 경건한 자는 시험에서 건지시고 불의한 자는 형벌 아래 두어 심판 날까지 지키시며
  if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.

10. 육체를 따라 더러운 정욕 가운데서 행하며 주관하는 이를 멸시하는 자들에게 특별히 형벌하실 줄을 아시느니라 이들은 담대하고 고집하여 떨지 않고 영광 있는 자를 훼방하거니와
  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;

11. 더 큰 힘과 능력을 가진 천사들이라도 주 앞에서 저희를 거스려 훼방하는 송사를 하지 아니하느니라
  yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.

12. 그러나 이 사람들은 본래 잡혀 죽기 위하여 난 이성 없는 짐승 같아서 그 알지 못한 것을 훼방하고 저희 멸망 가운데서 멸망을 당하며
  But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

13. 불의의 값으로 불의를 당하며 낮에 연락을 기쁘게 여기는 자들이니 점과 흠이라 너희와 함께 연회할 때에 저희 간사한 가운데 연락하며
  They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

14. 음심이 가득한 눈을 가지고 범죄하기를 쉬지 아니하고 굳세지 못한 영혼들을 유혹하며 탐욕에 연단된 마음을 가진 자들이니 저주의 자식이라
  With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed--an accursed brood!

15. 저희가 바른 길을 떠나 미혹하여 브올의 아들 발람의 길을 좇는도다 그는 불의의 삯을 사랑하다가
  They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.

16. 자기의 불법을 인하여 책망을 받되 말 못하는 나귀가 사람의 소리로 말하여 이 선지자의 미친 것을 금지하였느니라
  But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey--a beast without speech--who spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness.

17. 이 사람들은 물 없는 샘이요 광풍에 밀려가는 안개니 저희를 위하여 캄캄한 어두움이 예비되어 있나니
  These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.

18. 저희가 허탄한 자랑의 말을 토하여 미혹한 데 행하는 사람들에게서 겨우 피한 자들을 음란으로써 육체의 정욕 중에서 유혹하여
  For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error.

19. 저희에게 자유를 준다 하여도 자기는 멸망의 종들이니 누구든지 진 자는 이긴 자의 종이 됨이니라
  They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity--for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.

20. 만일 저희가 우리 주 되신 구주 예수 그리스도를 앎으로 세상의 더러움을 피한 후에 다시 그 중에 얽매이고 지면 그 나중 형편이 처음보다 더 심하리니
  If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

21. 의의 도를 안 후에 받은 거룩한 명령을 저버리는 것보다 알지 못하는 것이 도리어 저희에게 나으니라
  It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.

22. 참 속담에 이르기를 개가 그 토하였던 것에 돌아가고 돼지가 씻었다가 더러운 구덩이에 도로 누웠다 하는 말이 저희에게 응하였도다
  Of them the proverbs are true: "A dog returns to its vomit," and, "A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud."

미가 5

1. 딸 군대여 너는 떼를 모을찌어다 그들이 우리를 에워쌌으니 막대기로 이스라엘 재판자의 뺨을 치리로다
  Marshal your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel's ruler on the cheek with a rod.

2. 베들레헴 에브라다야 너는 유다 족속 중에 작을찌라도 이스라엘을 다스릴 자가 네게서 내게로 나올 것이라 그의 근본은 상고에, 태초에니라
  "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

3. 그러므로 임산한 여인이 해산하기까지 그들을 붙여 두시겠고 그 후에는 그 형제 남은 자가 이스라엘 자손에게로 돌아오리니
  Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.

4. 그가 여호와의 능력과 그 하나님 여호와의 이름의 위엄을 의지하고 서서 그 떼에게 먹여서 그들로 안연히 거하게 할 것이라 이제 그가 창대하여 땅 끝까지 미치리라
  He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.

5. 이 사람은 우리의 평강이 될 것이라 앗수르 사람이 우리 땅에 들어와서 우리 궁들을 밟을 때에는 우리가 일곱 목자와 여덟 군왕을 일으켜 그를 치리니
  And he will be their peace. When the Assyrian invades our land and marches through our fortresses, we will raise against him seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.

6. 그들이 칼로 앗수르 땅을 황무케 하며 니므롯 땅의 어귀를 황무케 하리라 앗수르 사람이 우리 땅에 들어와서 우리 지경을 밟을 때에는 그가 우리를 그에게서 건져내리라
  They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he invades our land and marches into our borders.

7. 야곱의 남은 자는 많은 백성 중에 있으리니 그들은 여호와에게로서 내리는 이슬 같고 풀 위에 내리는 단비 같아서 사람을 기다리지 아니하며 인생을 기다리지 아니할 것이며
  The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man or linger for mankind.

8. 야곱의 남은 자는 열국 중과 여러 백성 중에 있으리니 그들은 수풀의 짐승 중의 사자 같고 양 떼 중의 젊은 사자 같아서 만일 지나간즉 밟고 찢으리니 능히 구원할 자가 없을 것이라
  The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles as it goes, and no one can rescue.

9. 네 손이 네 대적 위에 들려서 네 모든 원수를 진멸하기를 바라노라
  Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.

10. 여호와께서 가라사대 그 날에 이르러는 내가 너의 말을 너의 중에서 멸절하며 너의 병거를 훼파하며
  "In that day," declares the LORD, "I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

11. 너의 땅의 성읍들을 멸하며 너의 모든 견고한 성을 무너뜨릴 것이며
  I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strongholds.

12. 내가 또 복술을 너의 손에서 끊으리니 네게 다시는 점장이가 없게 될 것이며
  I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.

13. 내가 너의 새긴 우상과 주상을 너의 중에서 멸절하리니 네가 네 손으로 만든 것을 다시는 섬기지 아니하리라
  I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

14. 내가 또 너의 아세라 목상을 너의 중에서 빼어 버리고 너의 성읍들을 멸할 것이며
  I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles and demolish your cities.

15. 내가 또 진노와 분한으로 청종치 아니한 나라에 갚으리라 하셨느니라
  I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed me."

누가복음 14

1. 안식일에 예수께서 바리새인의 한 두령의 집에 떡 잡수시러 들어가시니 저희가 엿보고 있더라
  One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched.

2. 주의 앞에 고창병 든 한 사람이 있는지라
  There in front of him was a man suffering from dropsy.

3. 예수께서 대답하여 율법사들과 바리새인들에게 일러 가라사대 안식일에 병 고쳐 주는 것이 합당하냐 아니하냐
  Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"

4. 저희가 잠잠하거늘 예수께서 그 사람을 데려다가 고쳐 보내시고
  But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him away.

5. 또 저희에게 이르시되 너희 중에 누가 그 아들이나 소나 우물에 빠졌으면 안식일에라도 곧 끌어내지 않겠느냐 하시니
  Then he asked them, "If one of you has a son or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull him out?"

6. 저희가 이에 대하여 대답지 못하니라
  And they had nothing to say.

7. 청함을 받은 사람들의 상좌 택함을 보시고 저희에게 비유로 말씀하여 가라사대
  When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable:

8. 네가 누구에게나 혼인 잔치에 청함을 받았을 때에 상좌에 앉지 말라 그렇지 않으면 너보다 더 높은 사람이 청함을 받은 경우에
  "When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited.

9. 너와 저를 청한 자가 와서 너더러 이 사람에게 자리를 내어 주라 하리니 그 때에 네가 부끄러워 말석으로 가게 되리라
  If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, 'Give this man your seat.' Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place.

10. 청함을 받았을 때에 차라리 가서 말석에 앉으라 그러면 너를 청한 자가 와서 너더러 벗이여 올라 앉으라 하리니 그 때에야 함께 앉은 모든 사람 앞에 영광이 있으리라
  But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, 'Friend, move up to a better place.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests.

11. 무릇 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라
  For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

12. 또 자기를 청한 자에게 이르시되 네가 점심이나 저녁이나 베풀거든 벗이나 형제나 친척이나 부한 이웃을 청하지 말라 두렵건대 그 사람들이 너를 도로 청하여 네게 갚음이 될까 하라
  Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.

13. 잔치를 배설하거든 차라리 가난한 자들과 병신들과 저는 자들과 소경들을 청하라
  But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,

14. 그리하면 저희가 갚을 것이 없는 고로 네게 복이 되리니 이는 의인들의 부활시에 네가 갚음을 받겠음이니라 하시더라
  and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

15. 함께 먹는 사람 중에 하나가 이 말을 듣고 이르되 무릇 하나님의 나라에서 떡을 먹는 자는 복되도다 하니
  When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, "Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God."

16. 이르시되 어떤 사람이 큰 잔치를 배설하고 많은 사람을 청하였더니
  Jesus replied: "A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests.

17. 잔치할 시간에 그 청하였던 자들에게 종을 보내어 가로되 오소서 모든 것이 준비되었나이다 하매
  At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.'

18. 다 일치하게 사양하여 하나는 가로되 나는 밭을 샀으매 불가불 나가 보아야 하겠으니 청컨대 나를 용서하도록 하라 하고
  "But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, 'I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.'

19. 또 하나는 가로되 나는 소 다섯 겨리를 샀으매 시험하러 가니 청컨대 나를 용서하도록 하라 하고
  "Another said, 'I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I'm on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.'

20. 또 하나는 가로되 나는 장가들었으니 그러므로 가지 못하겠노라 하는지라
  "Still another said, 'I just got married, so I can't come.'

21. 종이 돌아와 주인에게 그대로 고하니 이에 집주인이 노하여 그 종에게 이르되 빨리 시내의 거리와 골목으로 나가서 가난한 자들과 병신들과 소경들과 저는 자들을 데려오라 하니라
  "The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.'

22. 종이 가로되 주인이여 명하신 대로 하였으되 오히려 자리가 있나이다
  "'Sir,' the servant said, 'what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.'

23. 주인이 종에게 이르되 길과 산울 가로 나가서 사람을 강권하여 데려다가 내 집을 채우라
  "Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.

24. 내가 너희에게 말하노니 전에 청하였던 그 사람은 하나도 내 잔치를 맛보지 못하리라 하였다 하시니라
  I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.'"

25. 허다한 무리가 함께 갈쌔 예수께서 돌이키사 이르시되
  Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said:

26. 무릇 내게 오는 자가 자기 부모와 처자와 형제와 자매와 및 자기 목숨까지 미워하지 아니하면 능히 나의 제자가 되지 못하고
  "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple.

27. 누구든지 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좇지 않는 자도 능히 나의 제자가 되지 못하리라
  And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

28. 너희 중에 누가 망대를 세우고자 할찐대 자기의 가진 것이 준공하기까지에 족할는지 먼저 앉아 그 비용을 예산하지 아니하겠느냐
  "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?

29. 그렇게 아니하여 그 기초만 쌓고 능히 이루지 못하면 보는 자가 다 비웃어
  For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him,

30. 가로되 이 사람이 역사를 시작하고 능히 이루지 못하였다 하리라
  saying, 'This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.'

31. 또 어느 임금이 다른 임금과 싸우러 갈 때에 먼저 앉아 일만으로서 저 이만을 가지고 오는 자를 대적할 수 있을까 헤아리지 아니하겠느냐
  "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

32. 만일 못할터이면 저가 아직 멀리 있을 동안에 사신을 보내어 화친을 청할찌니라
  If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.

33. 이와 같이 너희 중에 누구든지 자기의 모든 소유를 버리지 아니하면 능히 내 제자가 되지 못하리라
  In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.

34. 소금이 좋은 것이나 소금도 만일 그 맛을 잃었으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요
  "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?

35. 땅에도, 거름에도 쓸데 없어 내어버리느니라 들을 귀가 있는 자는 들을찌어다 하시니라
  It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
