열왕기하 8

1. 엘리사가 이전에 아들을 다시 살려 준 여인에게 이르되 너는 일어나서 네 권속과 함께 거할 만한 곳으로 가서 거하라 여호와께서 기근을 명하셨으니 그대로 이 땅에 칠 년 동안 임하리라
  Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a famine in the land that will last seven years."

2. 여인이 일어나서 하나님의 사람의 말대로 행하여 그 권속과 함께 가서 블레셋 사람의 땅에 칠 년을 우거하다가
  The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3. 칠 년이 다 하매 여인이 블레셋 사람의 땅에서 돌아와서 자기 집과 전토를 위하여 호소하려 하여 왕에게 나아갔더라
  At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to the king to beg for her house and land.

4. 때에 왕이 하나님의 사람의 사환 게하시와 서로 말씀하며 가로되 너는 엘리사의 행한 모든 큰 일을 내게 고하라 하니
  The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, "Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done."

5. 게하시가 곧 엘리사가 죽은 자를 다시 살린 일을 왕에게 이야기할 때에 그 다시 살린 아이의 어미가 자기 집과 전토를 위하여 왕에게 호소하는지라 게하시가 가로되 내 주 왕이여 이는 그 여인이요 저는 그 아들이니 곧 엘리사가 다시 살린 자니이다
  Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to beg the king for her house and land. Gehazi said, "This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life."

6. 왕이 그 여인에게 물으매 여인이 고한지라 왕이 저를 위하여 한 관리를 임명하여 가로되 무릇 이 여인에게 속한 것과 이 땅에서 떠날 때부터 이제까지 그 밭의 소출을 다 돌려 주라 하였더라
  The king asked the woman about it, and she told him. Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, "Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now."

7. 엘리사가 다메섹에 갔을 때에 아람 왕 벤하닷이 병들었더니 혹이 왕에게 고하여 가로되 하나님의 사람이 여기 이르렀나이다
  Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, "The man of God has come all the way up here,"

8. 왕이 하사엘에게 이르되 너는 손에 예물을 가지고 가서 하나님의 사람을 맞고 저로 말미암아 여호와께 나의 이 병이 낫겠나 물으라
  he said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult the LORD through him; ask him, 'Will I recover from this illness?'"

9. 하사엘이 드디어 맞으러 갈쌔 다메섹 모든 아름다운 물품으로 예물을 삼아가지고 약대 사십에 싣고 나아가서 저의 앞에 서서 가로되 당신의 아들 아람 왕 벤하닷이 나를 당신에게 보내어 가로되 나의 이 병이 낫겠나이까 하더이다
  Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, "Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, 'Will I recover from this illness?'"

10. 엘리사가 가로되 너는 가서 저에게 고하기를 왕이 정녕 나으리라 하라 그러나 여호와께서 저가 정녕 죽으리라고 내게 알게 하셨느니라 하고
  Elisha answered, "Go and say to him, 'You will certainly recover'; but the LORD has revealed to me that he will in fact die."

11. 하나님의 사람이 저가 부끄러워하기까지 쏘아보다가 우니
  He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael felt ashamed. Then the man of God began to weep.

12. 하사엘이 가로되 내 주여 어찌하여 우시나이까 대답하되 네가 이스라엘 자손에게 행할 모든 악을 내가 앎이라 네가 저희 성에 불을 놓으며 장정을 칼로 죽이며 어린아이를 메어치며 아이 밴 부녀를 가르리라
  "Why is my lord weeping?" asked Hazael. "Because I know the harm you will do to the Israelites," he answered. "You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women."

13. 하사엘이 가로되 당신의 개 같은 종이 무엇이관대 이런 큰 일을 행하오리이까 엘리사가 대답하되 여호와께서 네가 아람 왕이 될 것을 내게 알게 하셨느니라
  Hazael said, "How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?" "The LORD has shown me that you will become king of Aram," answered Elisha.

14. 저가 엘리사를 떠나가서 그 주인에게 나아가니 왕이 묻되 엘리사가 네게 무슨 말을 하더냐 대답하되 저가 내게 이르기를 왕이 정녕 나으시리라 하더이다
  Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, "What did Elisha say to you?" Hazael replied, "He told me that you would certainly recover."

15. 그 이튿날에 하사엘이 이불을 물에 적시어 왕의 얼굴에 덮으매 왕이 죽은지라 저가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king.

16. 이스라엘 왕 아합의 아들 요람 제 오 년에 유다 왕 여호사밧이 오히려 위에 있을 때에 그 아들 여호람이 왕이 되니라
  In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah.

17. 여호람이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 삼십이 세라 예루살렘에서 팔 년을 치리하니라
  He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

18. 저가 이스라엘 왕들의 길로 행하여 아합의 집과 같이 하였으니 이는 아합의 딸이 그 아내가 되었음이라 저가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으나
  He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.

19. 여호와께서 그 종 다윗을 위하여 유다 멸하기를 즐겨 하지 아니하셨으니 이는 저와 그 자손에게 항상 등불을 주겠다고 허하셨음이더라
  Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the LORD was not willing to destroy Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.

20. 여호람 때에 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 수하에서 벗어나 자기 위에 왕을 세운 고로
  In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.

21. 여호람이 모든 병거를 거느리고 사일로 갔더니 밤에 일어나 자기를 에워싼 에돔 사람과 그 병거의 장관들을 치니 이에 백성이 도망하여 각각 그 장막으로 돌아갔더라
  So Jehoram went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home.

22. 이와 같이 에돔이 배반하여 유다의 수하에서 벗어났더니 오늘날까지 그러하였으며 그 때에 립나도 배반하였더라
  To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time.

23. 여호람의 남은 사적과 그 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  As for the other events of Jehoram's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

24. 여호람이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 열조들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사되고 그 아들 아하시야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Jehoram rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.

25. 이스라엘 왕 아합의 아들 요람 제 십이 년에 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 왕이 되니
  In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

26. 아하시야가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십이 세라 예루살렘에서 일 년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 아달랴라 이스라엘 왕 오므리의 손녀더라
  Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

27. 아하시야가 아합의 집 길로 행하여 아합의 집과 같이 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으니 저는 아합의 집의 사위가 되었음이러라
  He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab and did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab's family.

28. 저가 아합의 아들 요람과 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가서 아람 왕 하사엘로 더불어 싸우더니 아람 사람들이 요람을 상하게 한지라
  Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;

29. 요람 왕이 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸울 때에 라마에서 아람 사람에게 맞아 상한 것을 치료하려 하여 이스르엘로 돌아왔더라 아합의 아들 요람이 병이 있으므로 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 이스르엘에 내려가서 방문하였더라
  so King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth in his battle with Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.

디모데전서 5

1. 늙은이를 꾸짖지 말고 권하되 아비에게 하듯 하며 젊은이를 형제에게 하듯 하고
  Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers,

2. 늙은 여자를 어미에게 하듯 하며 젊은 여자를 일절 깨끗함으로 자매에게 하듯 하라
  older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.

3. 참 과부인 과부를 경대하라
  Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.

4. 만일 어떤 과부에게 자녀나 손자들이 있거든 저희로 먼저 자기 집에서 효를 행하여 부모에게 보답하기를 배우게 하라 이것이 하나님 앞에 받으실 만한 것이니라
  But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

5. 참 과부로서 외로운 자는 하나님께 소망을 두어 주야로 항상 간구와 기도를 하거니와
  The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.

6. 일락을 좋아하는 이는 살았으나 죽었느니라
  But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.

7. 네가 또한 이것을 명하여 그들로 책망받을 것이 없게 하라
  Give the people these instructions, too, so that no one may be open to blame.

8. 누구든지 자기 친족 특히 자기 가족을 돌아보지 아니하면 믿음을 배반한 자요 불신자보다 더 악한 자니라
  If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

9. 과부로 명부에 올릴 자는 나이 육십이 덜 되지 아니하고 한 남편의 아내이었던 자로서
  No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband,

10. 선한 행실의 증거가 있어 혹은 자녀를 양육하며 혹은 나그네를 대접하며 혹은 성도들의 발을 씻기며 혹은 환난당한 자들을 구제하며 혹은 모든 선한 일을 좇은 자라야 할 것이요
  and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the saints, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.

11. 젊은 과부는 거절하라 이는 정욕으로 그리스도를 배반할 때에 시집가고자 함이니
  As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry.

12. 처음 믿음을 저버렸으므로 심판을 받느니라
  Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge.

13. 또 저희가 게으름을 익혀 집집에 돌아다니고 게으를 뿐 아니라 망령된 폄론을 하며 일을 만들며 마땅히 아니할 말을 하나니
  Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.

14. 그러므로 젊은이는 시집가서 아이를 낳고 집을 다스리고 대적에게 훼방할 기회를 조금도 주지 말기를 원하노라
  So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.

15. 이미 사단에게 돌아간 자들도 있도다
  Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.

16. 만일 믿는 여자에게 과부 친척이 있거든 자기가 도와 주고 교회로 짐지지 말게 하라 이는 참 과부를 도와 주게 하려 함이니라
  If any woman who is a believer has widows in her family, she should help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.

17. 잘 다스리는 장로들을 배나 존경할 자로 알되 말씀과 가르침에 수고하는 이들을 더할 것이니라
  The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

18. 성경에 일렀으되 곡식을 밟아 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말라 하였고 또 일군이 그 삯을 받는 것이 마땅하다 하였느니라
  For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."

19. 장로에 대한 송사는 두 세 증인이 없으면 받지 말 것이요
  Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.

20. 범죄한 자들을 모든 사람 앞에 꾸짖어 나머지 사람으로 두려워하게 하라
  Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.

21. 하나님과 그리스도 예수와 택하심을 받은 천사들 앞에서 내가 엄히 명하노니 너는 편견이 없이 이것들을 지켜 아무 일도 편벽되이 하지 말며
  I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.

22. 아무에게나 경솔히 안수하지 말고 다른 사람의 죄에 간섭지 말고 네 자신을 지켜 정결케 하라
  Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

23. 이제부터는 물만 마시지 말고 네 비위와 자주 나는 병을 인하여 포도주를 조금씩 쓰라
  Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

24. 어떤 사람들의 죄는 밝히 드러나 먼저 심판에 나아가고 어떤 사람들의 죄는 그 뒤를 좇나니
  The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.

25. 이와 같이 선행도 밝히 드러나고 그렇지 아니한 것도 숨길 수 없느니라
  In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not cannot be hidden.

■ 혼자 읽기

다니엘 12

1. 그 때에 네 민족을 호위하는 대군 미가엘이 일어날 것이요 또 환난이 있으리니 이는 개국 이래로 그 때까지 없던 환난일 것이며 그 때에 네 백성 중 무릇 책에 기록된 모든 자가 구원을 얻을 것이라
  "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people--everyone whose name is found written in the book--will be delivered.

2. 땅의 티끌 가운데서 자는 자 중에 많이 깨어 영생을 얻는 자도 있겠고 수욕을 받아서 무궁히 부끄러움을 입을 자도 있을 것이며
  Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

3. 지혜 있는 자는 궁창의 빛과 같이 빛날 것이요 많은 사람을 옳은 데로 돌아오게 한 자는 별과 같이 영원토록 비취리라
  Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

4. 다니엘아 마지막 때까지 이 말을 간수하고 이 글을 봉함하라 많은 사람이 빨리 왕래하며 지식이 더하리라
  But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."

5. 나 다니엘이 본즉 다른 두 사람이 있어 하나는 강 이편 언덕에 섰고 하나는 강 저편 언덕에 섰더니
  Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.

6. 그 중에 하나가 세마포 옷을 입은 자 곧 강물 위에 있는 자에게 이르되 이 기사의 끝이 어느 때까지냐 하기로
  One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?"

7. 내가 들은즉 그 세마포 옷을 입고 강물 위에 있는 자가 그 좌우 손을 들어 하늘을 향하여 영생하시는 자를 가리켜 맹세하여 가로되 반드시 한 때 두 때 반 때를 지나서 성도의 권세가 다 깨어지기까지니 그렇게 되면 이 모든 일이 다 끝나리라 하더라
  The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed."

8. 내가 듣고도 깨닫지 못한지라 내가 가로되 내 주여 이 모든 일의 결국이 어떠하겠삽나이까
  I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?"

9. 그가 가로되 다니엘아 갈찌어다 대저 이 말은 마지막 때까지 간수하고 봉함할 것임이니라
  He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.

10. 많은 사람이 연단을 받아 스스로 정결케 하며 희게 할 것이나 악한 사람은 악을 행하리니 악한 자는 아무도 깨닫지 못하되 오직 지혜 있는 자는 깨달으리라
  Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

11. 매일 드리는 제사를 폐하며 멸망케 할 미운 물건을 세울 때부터 일천이백구십 일을 지낼 것이요
  "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

12. 기다려서 일천삼백삼십오 일까지 이르는 그 사람은 복이 있으리라
  Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

13. 너는 가서 마지막을 기다리라 이는 네가 평안히 쉬다가 끝날에는 네 업을 누릴 것임이니라
  "As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance."

시편 119:49-72

49. 주의 종에게 하신 말씀을 기억하소서 주께서 나로 소망이 있게 하셨나이다
  Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.

50. 이 말씀은 나의 곤란 중에 위로라 주의 말씀이 나를 살리셨음이니이다
  My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

51. 교만한 자가 나를 심히 조롱하였어도 나는 주의 법을 떠나지 아니하였나이다
  The arrogant mock me without restraint, but I do not turn from your law.

52. 여호와여 주의 옛 규례를 내가 기억하고 스스로 위로하였나이다
  I remember your ancient laws, O LORD, and I find comfort in them.

53. 주의 율법을 버린 악인들을 인하여 내가 맹렬한 노에 잡혔나이다
  Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law.

54. 나의 나그네 된 집에서 주의 율례가 나의 노래가 되었나이다
  Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.

55. 여호와여 내가 밤에 주의 이름을 기억하고 주의 법을 지켰나이다
  In the night I remember your name, O LORD, and I will keep your law.

56. 내 소유는 이것이니 곧 주의 법도를 지킨 것이니이다
  This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.

57. 여호와는 나의 분깃이시니 나는 주의 말씀을 지키리라 하였나이다
  You are my portion, O LORD; I have promised to obey your words.

58. 내가 전심으로 주의 은혜를 구하였사오니 주의 말씀대로 나를 긍휼히 여기소서
  I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

59. 내가 내 행위를 생각하고 주의 증거로 내 발을 돌이켰사오며
  I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes.

60. 주의 계명을 지키기에 신속히 하고 지체치 아니하였나이다
  I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.

61. 악인의 줄이 내게 두루 얽혔을지라도 나는 주의 법을 잊지 아니하였나이다
  Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.

62. 내가 주의 의로운 규례를 인하여 밤중에 일어나 주께 감사하리이다
  At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.

63. 나는 주를 경외하는 모든 자와 주의 법도를 지키는 자의 동무라
  I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.

64. 여호와여 주의 인자하심이 땅에 충만하였사오니 주의 율례로 나를 가르치소서
  The earth is filled with your love, O LORD; teach me your decrees.

65. 여호와여 주의 말씀대로 주의 종을 선대하셨나이다
  Do good to your servant according to your word, O LORD.

66. 내가 주의 계명을 믿었사오니 명철과 지식을 내게 가르치소서
  Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.

67. 고난당하기 전에는 내가 그릇 행하였더니 이제는 주의 말씀을 지키나이다
  Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.

68. 주는 선하사 선을 행하시오니 주의 율례로 나를 가르치소서
  You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.

69. 교만한 자가 거짓을 지어 나를 치려 하였사오나 나는 전심으로 주의 법도를 지키리이다
  Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart.

70. 저희 마음은 살쪄 지방 같으나 나는 주의 법을 즐거워하나이다
  Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.

71. 고난당한 것이 내게 유익이라 이로 인하여 내가 주의 율례를 배우게 되었나이다
  It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

72. 주의 입의 법이 내게는 천천 금은보다 승하니이다
  The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.
