열왕기상 22

1. 아람과 이스라엘 사이에 전쟁이 없이 삼 년을 지내었더라
  For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel.

2. 제 삼 년에 유다 왕 여호사밧이 이스라엘 왕에게 내려가매
  But in the third year Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down to see the king of Israel.

3. 이스라엘 왕이 그 신복에게 이르되 길르앗 라못은 본래 우리의 것인 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 우리가 어찌 아람 왕의 손에서 취하지 아니하고 잠잠히 있으리요 하고
  The king of Israel had said to his officials, "Don't you know that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us and yet we are doing nothing to retake it from the king of Aram?"

4. 여호사밧에게 이르되 당신은 나와 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가서 싸우시겠느뇨 여호사밧이 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 나는 당신과 일반이요 내 백성은 당신의 백성과 일반이요 내 말들도 당신의 말들과 일반이니이다
  So he asked Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight against Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."

5. 여호사밧이 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 청컨대 먼저 여호와의 말씀이 어떠하신지 물어 보소서
  But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "First seek the counsel of the LORD."

6. 이스라엘 왕이 이에 선지자 사백 인쯤 모으고 저희에게 이르되 내가 길르앗 라못에 가서 싸우랴 말랴 저희가 가로되 올라가소서 주께서 그 성을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다
  So the king of Israel brought together the prophets--about four hundred men--and asked them, "Shall I go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go," they answered, "for the Lord will give it into the king's hand."

7. 여호사밧이 가로되 이 외에 우리가 물을 만한 여호와의 선지자가 여기 있지 아니하니이까
  But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there not a prophet of the LORD here whom we can inquire of?"

8. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 오히려 이믈라의 아들 미가야 한 사람이 있으니 저로 말미암아 여호와께 물을 수 있으나 저는 내게 대하여 길한 일은 예언하지 아니하고 흉한 일만 예언하기로 내가 저를 미워하나이다 여호사밧이 가로되 왕은 그런 말씀을 마소서
  The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king should not say that," Jehoshaphat replied.

9. 이스라엘 왕이 한 내시를 불러 이르되 이믈라의 아들 미가야로 속히 오게 하라 하니라
  So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, "Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once."

10. 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 왕복을 입고 사마리아 문 어귀 광장에서 각기 보좌에 앉았고 모든 선지자가 그 앞에서 예언을 하는데
  Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

11. 그나아나의 아들 시드기야는 철로 뿔들을 만들어 가지고 말하되 여호와의 말씀이 왕이 이것들로 아람 사람을 찔러 진멸하리라 하셨다 하고
  Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns and he declared, "This is what the LORD says: 'With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.'"

12. 모든 선지자도 그와 같이 예언하여 이르기를 길르앗 라못으로 올라가 승리를 얻으소서 여호와께서 그 성을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다 하더라
  All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. "Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious," they said, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."

13. 미가야를 부르러 간 사자가 일러 가로되 선지자들의 말이 여출일구하여 왕에게 길하게 하니 청컨대 당신의 말도 저희 중 한 사람의 말처럼 길하게 하소서
  The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, "Look, as one man the other prophets are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably."

14. 미가야가 가로되 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 여호와께서 내게 말씀하시는 것 곧 그것을 내가 말하리라 하고
  But Micaiah said, "As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what the LORD tells me."

15. 이에 왕에게 이르니 왕이 저에게 이르되 미가야야 우리가 길르앗 라못으로 싸우러 가랴 말랴 저가 왕께 이르되 올라가서 승리를 얻으소서 여호와께서 그 성을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다
  When he arrived, the king asked him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Attack and be victorious," he answered, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."

16. 왕이 저에게 이르되 내가 몇 번이나 너로 맹세케 하여야 네가 여호와의 이름으로 진실한 것으로만 내게 고하겠느냐
  The king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

17. 저가 가로되 내가 보니 온 이스라엘이 목자 없는 양같이 산에 흩어졌는데 여호와의 말씀이 이 무리가 주인이 없으니 각각 평안히 그 집으로 돌아갈 것이니라 하셨나이다
  Then Micaiah answered, "I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD said, 'These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.'"

18. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 저 사람이 내게 대하여 길한 것을 예언하지 아니하고 흉한 것을 예언하겠다고 당신에게 말씀하지 아니하였나이까
  The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?"

19. 미가야가 가로되 그런즉 왕은 여호와의 말씀을 들으소서 내가 보니 여호와께서 그 보좌에 앉으셨고 하늘의 만군이 그 좌우편에 모시고 서 있는데
  Micaiah continued, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.

20. 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 누가 아합을 꾀어 저로 길르앗 라못에 올라가서 죽게 할꼬 하시니 하나는 이렇게 하겠다 하고 하나는 저렇게 하겠다 하였는데
  And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that.

21. 한 영이 나아와 여호와 앞에 서서 말하되 내가 저를 꾀이겠나이다
  Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.'

22. 여호와께서 저에게 이르시되 어떻게 하겠느냐 가로되 내가 나가서 거짓말하는 영이 되어 그 모든 선지자의 입에 있겠나이다 여호와께서 가라사대 너는 꾀이겠고 또 이루리라 나가서 그리하라 하셨은즉
  " 'By what means?' the LORD asked. " 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. " 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'

23. 이제 여호와께서 거짓말하는 영을 왕의 이 모든 선지자의 입에 넣으셨고 또 여호와께서 왕에게 대하여 화를 말씀하셨나이다
  "So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."

24. 그나아나의 아들 시드기야가 가까이 와서 미가야의 뺨을 치며 이르되 여호와의 영이 나를 떠나 어디로 말미암아 가서 네게 말씀하더냐
  Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go when he went from me to speak to you?" he asked.

25. 미가야가 가로되 네가 골방에 들어가서 숨는 그 날에 보리라
  Micaiah replied, "You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room."

26. 이스라엘 왕이 가로되 미가야를 잡아 부윤 아몬과 왕자 요아스에게로 끌고 돌아가서
  The king of Israel then ordered, "Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king's son

27. 말하기를 왕의 말씀이 이 놈을 옥에 가두고 내가 평안히 돌아올 때까지 고생의 떡과 고생의 물로 먹이라 하라
  and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.'"

28. 미가야가 가로되 왕이 참으로 평안히 돌아오시게 될찐대 여호와께서 나로 말씀하지 아니하셨으리이다 또 가로되 너희 백성들아 다 들을찌어다 하니라
  Micaiah declared, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he added, "Mark my words, all you people!"

29. 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 길르앗 라못으로 올라가니라
  So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

30. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 나는 변장하고 군중으로 들어가려 하노니 당신은 왕복을 입으소서 하고 이스라엘 왕이 변장하고 군중으로 들어가니라
  The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

31. 아람 왕이 그 병거의 장관 삼십이 인에게 명하여 이르기를 너희는 작은 자나 큰 자나 더불어 싸우지 말고 오직 이스라엘 왕과 싸우라 한지라
  Now the king of Aram had ordered his thirty-two chariot commanders, "Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel."

32. 병거의 장관들이 여호사밧을 보고 이르되 이가 필연 이스라엘 왕이라 하고 돌이켜 저와 싸우려 한즉 여호사밧이 소리지르는지라
  When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "Surely this is the king of Israel." So they turned to attack him, but when Jehoshaphat cried out,

33. 병거의 장관들이 저가 이스라엘 왕이 아님을 보고 쫓기를 그치고 돌이켰더라
  the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel and stopped pursuing him.

34. 한 사람이 우연히 활을 당기어 이스라엘 왕의 갑옷 솔기를 쏜지라 왕이 그 병거 모는 자에게 이르되 내가 부상하였으니 네 손을 돌이켜 나로 군중에서 나가게 하라 하였으나
  But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor. The king told his chariot driver, "Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I've been wounded."

35. 이 날에 전쟁이 맹렬하였으므로 왕이 병거 가운데 붙들려 서서 아람 사람을 막다가 저녁에 이르러 죽었는데 상처의 피가 흘러 병거 바닥에 고였더라
  All day long the battle raged, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died.

36. 해가 질 즈음에 군중에서 외치는 소리 있어 가로되 각기 성읍으로, 각기 본향으로 하더라
  As the sun was setting, a cry spread through the army: "Every man to his town; everyone to his land!"

37. 왕이 이미 죽으매 그 시체를 메어 사마리아에 이르러 거기 장사하니라
  So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried him there.

38. 그 병거를 사마리아 못에 씻으매 개들이 그 피를 핥았으니 여호와의 하신 말씀과 같이 되었더라 거기는 창기들의 목욕하는 곳이었더라
  They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria (where the prostitutes bathed), and the dogs licked up his blood, as the word of the LORD had declared.

39. 아합의 남은 행적과 무릇 그 행한 일과 그 건축한 상아궁과 그 건축한 모든 성은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  As for the other events of Ahab's reign, including all he did, the palace he built and inlaid with ivory, and the cities he fortified, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

40. 아합이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 아들 아하시야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Ahab rested with his fathers. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.

41. 이스라엘 왕 아합 제 사 년에 아사의 아들 여호사밧이 유다 왕이 되니
  Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42. 여호사밧이 왕이 될 때에 나이 삼십오 세라 예루살렘에서 이십오 년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 아수바라 실히의 딸이더라
  Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.

43. 여호사밧이 그 부친 아사의 모든 길로 행하며 돌이켜 떠나지 아니하고 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 산당은 폐하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 오히려 산당에서 제사를 드리며 분향하였더라
  In everything he walked in the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. The high places, however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

44. 여호사밧이 이스라엘 왕으로 더불어 평화하니라
  Jehoshaphat was also at peace with the king of Israel.

45. 여호사밧의 남은 사적과 그 베푼 권세와 그 어떻게 전쟁한 것은 다 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  As for the other events of Jehoshaphat's reign, the things he achieved and his military exploits, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

46. 저가 그 부친 아사의 시대에 남아 있던 남색하는 자를 그 땅에서 쫓아내었더라
  He rid the land of the rest of the male shrine prostitutes who remained there even after the reign of his father Asa.

47. 그 때에 에돔에는 왕이 없고 섭정왕이 있었더라
  There was then no king in Edom; a deputy ruled.

48. 여호사밧이 다시스의 선척을 제조하고 오빌로 금을 취하러 보내려 하였더니 그 배가 에시온게벨에서 파선하였으므로 가지 못하게 되매
  Now Jehoshaphat built a fleet of trading ships to go to Ophir for gold, but they never set sail--they were wrecked at Ezion Geber.

49. 아합의 아들 아하시야가 여호사밧에게 이르되 나의 종으로 당신의 종과 함께 배에 가게 하라 하나 여호사밧이 허락지 아니하였더라
  At that time Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my men sail with your men," but Jehoshaphat refused.

50. 여호사밧이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 조상 다윗 성에 그 열조와 함께 장사되고 그 아들 여호람이 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  Then Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of David his father. And Jehoram his son succeeded him.

51. 유다 왕 여호사밧 제 십칠 년에 아합의 아들 아하시야가 사마리아에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어 이 년을 이스라엘을 다스리니라
  Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.

52. 저가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 그 아비의 길과 그 어미의 길과 이스라엘로 범죄케 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 길로 행하며
  He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, because he walked in the ways of his father and mother and in the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

53. 바알을 섬겨 숭배하여 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 노를 격동하기를 그 아비의 온갖 행위같이 하였더라
  He served and worshiped Baal and provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger, just as his father had done.

데살로니가전서 5

1. 형제들아 때와 시기에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은
  Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,

2. 주의 날이 밤에 도적같이 이를 줄을 너희 자신이 자세히 앎이라
  for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

3. 저희가 평안하다, 안전하다 할 그 때에 잉태된 여자에게 해산 고통이 이름과 같이 멸망이 홀연히 저희에게 이르리니 결단코 피하지 못하리라
  While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4. 형제들아 너희는 어두움에 있지 아니하매 그 날이 도적같이 너희에게 임하지 못하리니
  But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

5. 너희는 다 빛의 아들이요 낮의 아들이라 우리가 밤이나 어두움에 속하지 아니하나니
  You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

6. 그러므로 우리는 다른 이들과 같이 자지 말고 오직 깨어 근신할찌라
  So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.

7. 자는 자들은 밤에 자고 취하는 자들은 밤에 취하되
  For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

8. 우리는 낮에 속하였으니 근신하여 믿음과 사랑의 흉배를 붙이고 구원의 소망의 투구를 쓰자
  But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

9. 하나님이 우리를 세우심은 노하심에 이르게 하심이 아니요 오직 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 구원을 얻게 하신 것이라
  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10. 예수께서 우리를 위하여 죽으사 우리로 하여금 깨든지 자든지 자기와 함께 살게 하려 하셨느니라
  He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

11. 그러므로 피차 권면하고 피차 덕을 세우기를 너희가 하는 것같이 하라
  Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

12. 형제들아 우리가 너희에게 구하노니 너희 가운데서 수고하고 주 안에서 너희를 다스리며 권하는 자들을 너희가 알고
  Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.

13. 저의 역사로 말미암아 사랑 안에서 가장 귀히 여기며 너희끼리 화목하라
  Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

14. 또 형제들아 너희를 권면하노니 규모 없는 자들을 권계하며 마음이 약한 자들을 안위하고 힘이 없는 자들을 붙들어 주며 모든 사람을 대하여 오래 참으라
  And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

15. 삼가 누가 누구에게든지 악으로 악을 갚지 말게 하고 오직 피차 대하든지 모든 사람을 대하든지 항상 선을 좇으라
  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

16. 항상 기뻐하라
  Be joyful always;

17. 쉬지 말고 기도하라
  pray continually;

18. 범사에 감사하라 이는 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라
  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

19. 성령을 소멸치 말며
  Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

20. 예언을 멸시치 말고
  do not treat prophecies with contempt.

21. 범사에 헤아려 좋은 것을 취하고
  Test everything. Hold on to the good.

22. 악은 모든 모양이라도 버리라
  Avoid every kind of evil.

23. 평강의 하나님이 친히 너희로 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 또 너희 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도 강림하실 때에 흠없게 보전되기를 원하노라
  May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24. 너희를 부르시는 이는 미쁘시니 그가 또한 이루시리라
  The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.

25. 형제들아 우리를 위하여 기도하라
  Brothers, pray for us.

26. 거룩하게 입맞춤으로 모든 형제에게 문안하라
  Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.

27. 내가 주를 힘입어 너희를 명하노니 모든 형제에게 이 편지를 읽어 들리라
  I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.

28. 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 너희에게 있을찌어다
  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

■ 혼자 읽기

다니엘 4

1. 느부갓네살왕은 천하에 거하는 백성들과 나라들과 각 방언하는 자에게 조서하노라 원하노니 너희에게 많은 평강이 있을찌어다
  King Nebuchadnezzar, To the peoples, nations and men of every language, who live in all the world: May you prosper greatly!

2. 지극히 높으신 하나님이 내게 행하신 이적과 기사를 내가 알게 하기를 즐겨하노라
  It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.

3. 크도다 그 이적이여, 능하도다 그 기사여, 그 나라는 영원한 나라요 그 권병은 대대에 이르리로다
  How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.

4. 나 느부갓네살이 내 집에 편히 있으며 내 궁에서 평강할 때에
  I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented and prosperous.

5. 한 꿈을 꾸고 그로 인하여 두려워하였으되 곧 내 침상에서 생각 하는 것과 뇌 속으로 받은 이상을 인하여 번민하였었노라
  I had a dream that made me afraid. As I was lying in my bed, the images and visions that passed through my mind terrified me.

6. 이러므로 내가 명을 내려 바벨론 모든 박사를 내 앞으로 불러다가 그 꿈의 해석을 내게 알게 하라 하매
  So I commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be brought before me to interpret the dream for me.

7. 박수와 술객과 갈대아 술사와 점장이가 들어왔기로 내가 그 꿈을 그들에게 고하였으나 그들이 그 해석을 내게 알게 하지 못하였느니라
  When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.

8. 그 후에 다니엘이 내 앞에 들어왔으니 그는 내 신의 이름을 좇아 벨드사살이라 이름한 자요 그의 안에는 거룩한 신들의 영이 있는 자라 내가 그에게 꿈을 고하여 가로되
  Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)

9. 박수장 벨드사살아 네 안에는 거룩한 신들의 영이 있은즉 아무 은밀한 것이라도 네게는 어려울 것이 없는 줄을 내가 아노니 내 꿈에 본 이상의 해석을 내게 고하라
  I said, "Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Here is my dream; interpret it for me.

10. 내가 침상에서 나의 뇌 속으로 받은 이상이 이러하니라 내가 본즉 땅의 중앙에 한 나무가 있는데 고가 높더니
  These are the visions I saw while lying in my bed: I looked, and there before me stood a tree in the middle of the land. Its height was enormous.

11. 그 나무가 자라서 견고하여지고 그 고는 하늘에 닿았으니 땅 끝에서도 보이겠고
  The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth.

12. 그 잎사귀는 아름답고 그 열매는 많아서 만민의 식물이 될만하고 들짐승이 그 그늘에 있으며 공중에 나는 새는 그 가지에 깃들이고 무릇 혈기 있는 자가 거기서 식물을 얻더라
  Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant, and on it was food for all. Under it the beasts of the field found shelter, and the birds of the air lived in its branches; from it every creature was fed.

13. 내가 침상에서 뇌 속으로 받은 이상 가운데 또 본즉 한 순찰자, 한 거룩한 자가 하늘에서 내려왔는데
  "In the visions I saw while lying in my bed, I looked, and there before me was a messenger, a holy one, coming down from heaven.

14. 그가 소리질러 외쳐서 이처럼 이르기를 그 나무를 베고 그 가지를 찍고 그 잎사귀를 떨고 그 열매를 헤치고 짐승들로 그 아래서 떠나게 하고 새들을 그 가지에서 쫓아내라
  He called in a loud voice: 'Cut down the tree and trim off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches.

15. 그러나 그 뿌리의 그루터기를 땅에 남겨 두고 철과 놋줄로 동이고 그것으로 들청초 가운데 있게 하라 그것이 하늘 이슬에 젖고 땅의 풀 가운데서 짐승으로 더불어 그 분량을 같이 하리라
  But let the stump and its roots, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the grass of the field. "'Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the animals among the plants of the earth.

16. 또 그 마음은 변하여 인생의 마음 같지 아니하고 짐승의 마음을 받아 일곱 때를 지나리라
  Let his mind be changed from that of a man and let him be given the mind of an animal, till seven times pass by for him.

17. 이는 순찰자들의 명령대로요 거룩한 자들의 말대로니 곧 인생으로 지극히 높으신 자가 인간 나라를 다스리시며 자기의 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시며 또 지극히 천한 자로 그 위에 세우시는 줄을 알게 하려 함이니라 하였느니라
  "'The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.'

18. 나 느부갓네살 왕이 이 꿈을 꾸었나니 너 벨드사살아 그 해석을 밝히 말하라 내 나라 모든 박사가 능히 그 해석을 내게 알게 하지 못하였으나 오직 너는 능히 하리니 이는 거룩한 신들의 영이 네 안에 있음이니라
  "This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, had. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me what it means, for none of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret it for me. But you can, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you."

19. 벨드사살이라 이름한 다니엘이 얼마 동안 놀라 벙벙하며 마음이 번민하여 하는지라 왕이 그에게 말하여 이르기를 벨드사살아 너는 이 꿈과 그 해석을 인하여 번민할 것이 아니니라 벨드사살이 대답하여 가로되 내 주여 그 꿈은 왕을 미워하는 자에게 응하기를 원하며 그 해석은 왕의 대적에게 응하기를 원하나이다
  Then Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified him. So the king said, "Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you." Belteshazzar answered, "My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries!

20. 왕의 보신 그 나무가 자라서 견고하여지고 그 고는 하늘에 닿았으니 땅 끝에서도 보이겠고
  The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth,

21. 그 잎사귀는 아름답고 그 열매는 많아서 만민의 식물이 될만하고 들짐승은 그 아래 거하며 공중에 나는 새는 그 가지에 깃들이더라 하시오니
  with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the beasts of the field, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds of the air--

22. 왕이여 이 나무는 곧 왕이시라 이는 왕이 자라서 견고하여지고 창대하사 하늘에 닿으시며 권세는 땅 끝까지 미치심이니이다
  you, O king, are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.

23. 왕이 보신즉 한 순찰자, 한 거룩한 자가 하늘에서 내려와서 이르기를 그 나무를 베고 멸하라 그러나 그 뿌리의 그루터기는 땅에 남겨 두고 철과 놋줄로 동이고 그것을 들청초 가운데 있게 하라 그것이 하늘 이슬에 젖고 또 들짐승으로 더불어 그 분량을 같이 하며 일곱 때를 지내리라 하더라 하시오니
  "You, O king, saw a messenger, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump, bound with iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, while its roots remain in the ground. Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven; let him live like the wild animals, until seven times pass by for him.'

24. 왕이여 그 해석은 이러하니이다 곧 지극히 높으신 자의 명정하신 것이 내 주 왕에게 미칠 것이라
  "This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king:

25. 왕이 사람에게서 쫓겨나서 들짐승과 함께 거하며 소처럼 풀을 먹으며 하늘 이슬에 젖을 것이요 이와 같이 일곱 때를 지낼 것이라 그 때에 지극히 높으신 자가 인간 나라를 다스리시며 자기의 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시는 줄을 아시리이다
  You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.

26. 또 그들이 그 나무뿌리의 그루터기를 남겨 두라 하였은즉 하나님이 다스리시는 줄을 왕이 깨달은 후에야 왕의 나라가 견고하리이다
  The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.

27. 그런즉 왕이여 나의 간하는 것을 받으시고 공의를 행함으로 죄를 속하고 가난한 자를 긍휼히 여김으로 죄악을 속하소서 그리하시면 왕의 평안함이 혹시 장구하리이다 하였느니라
  Therefore, O king, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue."

28. 이 모든 일이 다 나 느부갓네살 왕에게 임하였느니라
  All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.

29. 열 두달이 지난 후에 내가 바벨론 궁 지붕에서 거닐쌔
  Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,

30. 나 왕이 말하여 가로되 이 큰 바벨론은 내가 능력과 권세로 건설하여 나의 도성을 삼고 이것으로 내 위엄의 영광을 나타낸 것이 아니냐 하였더니
  he said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?"

31. 이 말이 오히려 나 왕의 입에 있을 때에 하늘에서 소리가 내려 가로되 느부갓네살 왕아 네게 말하노니 나라의 위가 네게서 떠났느니라
  The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, "This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.

32. 네가 사람에게서 쫓겨나서 들짐승과 함께 거하며 소처럼 풀을 먹을 것이요 이와 같이 일곱 때를 지내서 지극히 높으신 자가 인간 나라를 다스리시며 자기의 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시는 줄을 알기까지 이르리라 하더니
  You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes."

33. 그 동시에 이 일이 나 느부갓네살에게 응하므로 내가 사람에게 쫓겨나서 소처럼 풀을 먹으며 몸이 하늘 이슬에 젖고 머리털이 독수리 털과 같았고 손톱은 새 발톱과 같았었느니라
  Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.

34. 그 기한이 차매 나 느부갓네살이 하늘을 우러러 보았더니 내 총명이 다시 내게로 돌아온지라 이에 내가 지극히 높으신 자에게 감사하며 영생하시는 자를 찬양하고 존경하였노니 그 권세는 영원한 권세요 그 나라는 대대에 이르리로다
  At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

35. 땅의 모든 거민을 없는 것 같이 여기시며 하늘의 군사에게든지 땅의 거민에게든지 그는 자기 뜻대로 행하시나니 누가 그의 손을 금하든지 혹시 이르기를 네가 무엇을 하느냐 할 자가 없도다
  All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: "What have you done?"

36. 그 동시에 내 총명이 내게로 돌아왔고 또 내 나라 영광에 대하여도 내 위엄과 광명이 내게로 돌아왔고 또 나의 모사들과 관원들이 내게 조회하니 내가 내 나라에서 다시 세움을 입고 또 지극한 위세가 내게 더하였느니라
  At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before.

37. 그러므로 지금 나 느부갓네살이 하늘의 왕을 찬양하며 칭송하며 존경하노니 그의 일이 다 진실하고 그의 행하심이 의로우시므로 무릇 교만하게 행하는 자를 그가 능히 낮추심이니라
  Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

시편 108-109

1. 하나님이여 내 마음을 정하였사오니 내가 노래하며 내 심령으로 찬양하리로다
  A song. A psalm of David. My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul.

2. 비파야, 수금아, 깰지어다 내가 새벽을 깨우리로다
  Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.

3. 여호와여 내가 만민 중에서 주께 감사하고 열방 중에서 주를 찬양하오리니
  I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.

4. 대저 주의 인자하심이 하늘 위에 광대하시며 주의 진실은 궁창에 미치나이다
  For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

5. 하나님이여 주는 하늘 위에 높이 들리시며 주의 영광이 온 세계 위에 높으시기를 원하나이다
  Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.

6. 주의 사랑하는 자를 건지시기 위하여 우리에게 응답하사 오른손으로 구원하소서
  Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.

7. 하나님이 그 거룩하심으로 말씀하시되 내가 뛰놀리라 내가 세겜을 나누며 숙곳 골짜기를 척량하리라
  God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth.

8. 길르앗이 내 것이요 므낫세도 내 것이며 에브라임은 내 머리의 보호자요 유다는 나의 홀이며
  Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter.

9. 모압은 내 목욕통이라 에돔에는 내 신을 던질지며 블레셋 위에서 내가 외치리라 하셨도다
  Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph."

10. 누가 나를 이끌어 견고한 성에 들이며 누가 나를 에돔에 인도할꼬
  Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

11. 하나님이여 주께서 우리를 버리지 아니하셨나이까 하나님이여 주께서 우리 군대와 함께 나아가지 아니하시나이다
  Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?

12. 우리를 도와 대적을 치게 하소서 사람의 구원은 헛됨이니이다
  Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.

13. 우리가 하나님을 의지하고 용감히 행하리니 저는 우리의 대적을 밟으실 자이심이로다
  With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

1. 나의 찬송하는 하나님이여 잠잠하지 마옵소서
  For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent,

2. 대저 저희가 악한 입과 궤사한 입을 열어 나를 치며 거짓된 혀로 내게 말하며
  for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues.

3. 또 미워하는 말로 나를 두르고 무고히 나를 공격하였나이다
  With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.

4. 나는 사랑하나 저희는 도리어 나를 대적하니 나는 기도할 뿐이라
  In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.

5. 저희가 악으로 나의 선을 갚으며 미워함으로 나의 사랑을 갚았사오니
  They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.

6. 악인으로 저를 제어하게 하시며 대적으로 그 오른편에 서게 하소서
  Appoint an evil man to oppose him; let an accuser stand at his right hand.

7. 저가 판단을 받을 때에 죄를 지고 나오게 하시며 그 기도가 죄로 변케 하시며
  When he is tried, let him be found guilty, and may his prayers condemn him.

8. 그 년수를 단촉케 하시며 그 직분을 타인이 취하게 하시며
  May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.

9. 그 자녀는 고아가 되고 그 아내는 과부가 되며
  May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.

10. 그 자녀가 유리 구걸하며 그 황폐한 집을 떠나 빌어먹게 하소서
  May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.

11. 고리대금하는 자로 저의 소유를 다 취하게 하시며 저의 수고한 것을 외인이 탈취하게 하시며
  May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.

12. 저에게 은혜를 계속할 자가 없게 하시며 그 고아를 연휼할 자도 없게 하시며
  May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.

13. 그 후사가 끊어지게 하시며 후대에 저희 이름이 도말되게 하소서
  May his descendants be cut off, their names blotted out from the next generation.

14. 여호와는 그 열조의 죄악을 기억하시며 그 어미의 죄를 도말하지 마시고
  May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD; may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.

15. 그 죄악을 항상 여호와 앞에 있게 하사 저희 기념을 땅에서 끊으소서
  May their sins always remain before the LORD, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

16. 저가 긍휼히 여길 일을 생각지 아니하고 가난하고 궁핍한 자와 마음이 상한 자를 핍박하여 죽이려 한 연고니이다
  For he never thought of doing a kindness, but hounded to death the poor and the needy and the brokenhearted.

17. 저가 저주하기를 좋아하더니 그것이 자기에게 임하고 축복하기를 기뻐 아니하더니 복이 저를 멀리 떠났으며
  He loved to pronounce a curse--may it come on him; he found no pleasure in blessing--may it be far from him.

18. 또 저주하기를 옷 입듯 하더니 저주가 물같이 그 내부에 들어가며 기름같이 그 뼈에 들어갔나이다
  He wore cursing as his garment; it entered into his body like water, into his bones like oil.

19. 저주가 그 입는 옷 같고 항상 띠는 띠와 같게 하소서
  May it be like a cloak wrapped about him, like a belt tied forever around him.

20. 이는 대적 곧 내 영혼을 대적하여 악담하는 자가 여호와께 받는 보응이니이다
  May this be the LORD'S payment to my accusers, to those who speak evil of me.

21. 주 여호와여 주의 이름을 인하여 나를 선대하시며 주의 인자하심이 선함을 인하여 나를 건지소서
  But you, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.

22. 나는 가난하고 궁핍하여 중심이 상함이니이다
  For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

23. 나의 가는 것은 석양 그림자 같고 또 메뚜기같이 불려 가오며
  I fade away like an evening shadow; I am shaken off like a locust.

24. 금식함을 인하여 내 무릎은 약하고 내 육체는 수척하오며
  My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt.

25. 나는 또 저희의 훼방거리라 저희가 나를 본즉 머리를 흔드나이다
  I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads.

26. 여호와 나의 하나님이여 나를 도우시며 주의 인자하심을 좇아 나를 구원하소서
  Help me, O LORD my God; save me in accordance with your love.

27. 이것이 주의 손인 줄을 저희로 알게 하소서 여호와께서 이를 행하셨나이다
  Let them know that it is your hand, that you, O LORD, have done it.

28. 저희는 저주하여도 주는 내게 복을 주소서 저희는 일어날 때에 수치를 당할찌라도 주의 종은 즐거워하리이다
  They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice.

29. 나의 대적으로 욕을 옷 입듯 하게 하시며 자기 수치를 겉옷같이 입게 하소서
  My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.

30. 내가 입으로 여호와께 크게 감사하며 무리 중에서 찬송하리니
  With my mouth I will greatly extol the LORD; in the great throng I will praise him.

31. 저가 궁핍한 자의 우편에 서사 그 영혼을 판단하려 하는 자에게서 구원하실 것임이로다
  For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.
