열왕기상 19

1. 아합이 엘리야의 무릇 행한 일과 그가 어떻게 모든 선지자를 칼로 죽인 것을 이세벨에게 고하니
  Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.

2. 이세벨이 사자를 엘리야에게 보내어 이르되 내가 내일 이맘때에는 정녕 네 생명으로 저 사람들 중 한 사람의 생명 같게 하리라 아니하면 신들이 내게 벌 위에 벌을 내림이 마땅하니라 한지라
  So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them."

3. 저가 이 형편을 보고 일어나 그 생명을 위하여 도망하여 유다에 속한 브엘세바에 이르러 자기의 사환을 그 곳에 머물게 하고
  Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,

4. 스스로 광야로 들어가 하룻길쯤 행하고 한 로뎀나무 아래 앉아서 죽기를 구하여 가로되 여호와여 넉넉하오니 지금 내 생명을 취하옵소서 나는 내 열조보다 낫지 못하니이다 하고
  while he himself went a day's journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors."

5. 로뎀나무 아래 누워 자더니 천사가 어루만지며 이르되 일어나서 먹으라 하는지라
  Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat."

6. 본즉 머리맡에 숯불에 구운 떡과 한 병 물이 있더라 이에 먹고 마시고 다시 누웠더니
  He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

7. 여호와의 사자가 또다시 와서 어루만지며 이르되 일어나서 먹으라 네가 길을 이기지 못할까 하노라 하는지라
  The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you."

8. 이에 일어나 먹고 마시고 그 식물의 힘을 의지하여 사십 주 사십 야를 행하여 하나님의 산 호렙에 이르니라
  So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

9. 엘리야가 그 곳 굴에 들어가 거기서 유하더니 여호와의 말씀이 저에게 임하여 이르시되 엘리야야 네가 어찌하여 여기 있느냐
  There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

10. 저가 대답하되 내가 만군의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 열심이 특심하오니 이는 이스라엘 자손이 주의 언약을 버리고 주의 단을 헐며 칼로 주의 선지자들을 죽였음이오며 오직 나만 남았거늘 저희가 내 생명을 찾아 취하려 하나이다
  He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."

11. 여호와께서 가라사대 너는 나가서 여호와의 앞에서 산에 섰으라 하시더니 여호와께서 지나가시는데 여호와의 앞에 크고 강한 바람이 산을 가르고 바위를 부수나 바람 가운데 여호와께서 계시지 아니하며 바람 후에 지진이 있으나 지진 가운데도 여호와께서 계시지 아니하며
  The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

12. 또 지진 후에 불이 있으나 불 가운데도 여호와께서 계시지 아니하더니 불 후에 세미한 소리가 있는지라
  After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

13. 엘리야가 듣고 겉옷으로 얼굴을 가리우고 나가 굴 어귀에 서매 소리가 있어 저에게 임하여 가라사대 엘리야야 네가 어찌하여 여기 있느냐
  When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

14. 저가 대답하되 내가 만군의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 열심이 특심하오니 이는 이스라엘 자손이 주의 언약을 버리고 주의 단을 헐며 칼로 주의 선지자들을 죽였음이오며 오직 나만 남았거늘 저희가 내 생명을 찾아 취하려 하나이다
  He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."

15. 여호와께서 저에게 이르시되 너는 네 길을 돌이켜 광야로 말미암아 다메섹에 가서 이르거든 하사엘에게 기름을 부어 아람 왕이 되게 하고
  The LORD said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram.

16. 너는 또 님시의 아들 예후에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘 왕이 되게 하고 또 아벨므흘라 사밧의 아들 엘리사에게 기름을 부어 너를 대신하여 선지자가 되게 하라
  Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.

17. 하사엘의 칼을 피하는 자를 예후가 죽일 것이요 예후의 칼을 피하는 자를 엘리사가 죽이리라
  Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.

18. 그러나 내가 이스라엘 가운데 칠천 인을 남기리니 다 무릎을 바알에게 꿇지 아니하고 다 그 입을 바알에게 맞추지 아니한 자니라
  Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel--all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him."


19. 엘리야가 거기서 떠나 사밧의 아들 엘리사를 만나니 저가 열두 겨리 소를 앞세우고 밭을 가는데 자기는 열둘째 겨리와 함께 있더라 엘리야가 그리로 건너가서 겉옷을 그의 위에 던졌더니
  So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him.

20. 저가 소를 버리고 엘리야에게로 달려가서 이르되 청컨대 나로 내 부모와 입맞추게 하소서 그리한 후에 내가 당신을 따르리이다 엘리야가 저에게 이르되 돌아가라 내가 네게 어떻게 행하였느냐 하니라
  Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. "Let me kiss my father and mother good-by," he said, "and then I will come with you." "Go back," Elijah replied. "What have I done to you?"

21. 엘리사가 저를 떠나 돌아가서 소 한 겨리를 취하여 잡고 소의 기구를 불살라 그 고기를 삶아 백성에게 주어 먹게 하고 일어나 가서 엘리야를 좇으며 수종들었더라
  So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant.

데살로니가전서 2

1. 형제들아 우리가 너희 가운데 들어감이 헛되지 않은 줄을 너희가 친히 아나니
  You know, brothers, that our visit to you was not a failure.

2. 너희 아는 바와 같이 우리가 먼저 빌립보에서 고난과 능욕을 당하였으나 우리 하나님을 힘입어 많은 싸움 중에 하나님의 복음을 너희에게 말하였노라
  We had previously suffered and been insulted in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in spite of strong opposition.

3. 우리의 권면은 간사에서나 부정에서 난 것도 아니요 궤계에 있는 것도 아니라
  For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.

4. 오직 하나님의 옳게 여기심을 입어 복음 전할 부탁을 받았으니 우리가 이와 같이 말함은 사람을 기쁘게 하려 함이 아니요 오직 우리 마음을 감찰하시는 하나님을 기쁘시게 하려 함이라
  On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.

5. 너희도 알거니와 우리가 아무 때에도 아첨의 말이나 탐심의 탈을 쓰지 아니한 것을 하나님이 증거하시느니라
  You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed--God is our witness.

6. 우리가 그리스도의 사도로 능히 존중할 터이나 그러나 너희에게든지 다른 이에게든지 사람에게는 영광을 구치 아니하고
  We were not looking for praise from men, not from you or anyone else. As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you,

7. 오직 우리가 너희 가운데서 유순한 자 되어 유모가 자기 자녀를 기름과 같이 하였으니
  but we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children.

8. 우리가 이같이 너희를 사모하여 하나님의 복음으로만 아니라 우리 목숨까지 너희에게 주기를 즐겨함은 너희가 우리의 사랑하는 자 됨이니라
  We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.

9. 형제들아 우리의 수고와 애쓴 것을 너희가 기억하리니 너희 아무에게도 누를 끼치지 아니하려고 밤과 낮으로 일하면서 너희에게 하나님의 복음을 전파하였노라
  Surely you remember, brothers, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.

10. 우리가 너희 믿는 자들을 향하여 어떻게 거룩하고 옳고 흠없이 행한 것에 대하여 너희가 증인이요 하나님도 그러하시도다
  You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

11. 너희도 아는 바와 같이 우리가 너희 각 사람에게 아비가 자기 자녀에게 하듯 권면하고 위로하고 경계하노니
  For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,

12. 이는 너희를 부르사 자기 나라와 영광에 이르게 하시는 하나님께 합당히 행하게 하려 함이니라
  encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

13. 이러므로 우리가 하나님께 쉬지 않고 감사함은 너희가 우리에게 들은 바 하나님의 말씀을 받을 때에 사람의 말로 아니하고 하나님의 말씀으로 받음이니 진실로 그러하다 이 말씀이 또한 너희 믿는 자 속에서 역사하느니라
  And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

14. 형제들아 너희가 그리스도 예수 안에서 유대에 있는 하나님의 교회들을 본받은 자 되었으니 저희가 유대인들에게 고난을 받음과 같이 너희도 너희 나라 사람들에게 동일한 것을 받았느니라
  For you, brothers, became imitators of God's churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews,

15. 유대인은 주 예수와 선지자들을 죽이고 우리를 쫓아내고 하나님을 기쁘시게 아니하고 모든 사람에게 대적이 되어
  who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men

16. 우리가 이방인에게 말하여 구원 얻게 함을 저희가 금하여 자기 죄를 항상 채우매 노하심이 끝까지 저희에게 임하였느니라
  in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.

17. 형제들아 우리가 잠시 너희를 떠난 것은 얼굴이요 마음은 아니니 너희 얼굴 보기를 열정으로 더욱 힘썼노라
  But, brothers, when we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.

18. 그러므로 나 바울은 한번 두번 너희에게 가고자 하였으나 사단이 우리를 막았도다
  For we wanted to come to you--certainly I, Paul, did, again and again--but Satan stopped us.

19. 우리의 소망이나 기쁨이나 자랑의 면류관이 무엇이냐 그의 강림하실 때 우리 주 예수 앞에 너희가 아니냐
  For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?

20. 너희는 우리의 영광이요 기쁨이니라
  Indeed, you are our glory and joy.

다니엘 1

1. 유다 왕 여호야김이 위에 있은 지 삼 년에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 이르러 그것을 에워쌌더니
  In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.

2. 주께서 유다 왕 여호야김과 하나님의 전 기구 얼마를 그의 손에 붙이시매 그가 그것을 가지고 시날 땅 자기 신의 묘에 이르러 그 신의 보고에 두었더라
  And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia and put in the treasure house of his god.

3. 왕이 환관장 아스부나스에게 명하여 이스라엘 자손 중에서 왕족과 귀족의 몇 사람
  Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility--

4. 곧 흠이 없고 아름다우며 모든 재주를 통달하며 지식이 구비하며 학문에 익숙하여 왕궁에 모실 만한 소년을 데려오게 하였고 그들에게 갈대아 사람의 학문과 방언을 가르치게 하였고
  young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.

5. 또 왕이 지정하여 자기의 진미와 자기의 마시는 포도주에서 그들의 날마다 쓸 것을 주어 삼 년을 기르게 하였으니 이는 그 후에 그들로 왕의 앞에 모셔 서게 하려 함이었더라
  The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.

6. 그들 중에 유다 자손 곧 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴가 있었더니
  Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.

7. 환관장이 그들의 이름을 고쳐 다니엘은 벨드사살이라 하고 하나냐는 사드락이라 하고 미사엘은 메삭이라 하고 아사랴는 아벳느고라 하였더라
  The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

8. 다니엘은 뜻을 정하여 왕의 진미와 그의 마시는 포도주로 자기를 더럽히지 아니하리라 하고 자기를 더럽히지 않게 하기를 환관장에게 구하니
  But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

9. 하나님이 다니엘로 환관장에게 은혜와 긍휼을 얻게 하신지라
  Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel,

10. 환관장이 다니엘에게 이르되 내가 내 주 왕을 두려워하노라 그가 너희 먹을 것과 너희 마실 것을 지정하셨거늘 너희의 얼굴이 초췌하여 동무 소년들만 못한 것을 그로 보시게 할 것이 무엇이냐 그렇게 되면 너희 까닭에 내 머리가 왕 앞에서 위태하게 되리라 하니라
  but the official told Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you."

11. 환관장이 세워 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴를 감독하게 한 자에게 다니엘이 말하되
  Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,

12. 청하오니 당신의 종들을 열흘 동안 시험하여 채식을 주어 먹게 하고 물을 주어 마시게 한 후에
  "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.

13. 당신 앞에서 우리의 얼굴과 왕의 진미를 먹는 소년들의 얼굴을 비교하여 보아서 보이는 대로 종들에게 처분하소서 하매
  Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see."

14. 그가 그들의 말을 좇아 열흘을 시험하더니
  So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

15. 열흘 후에 그들의 얼굴이 더욱 아름답고 살이 더욱 윤택하여 왕의 진미를 먹는 모든 소년보다 나아 보인지라
  At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.

16. 이러므로 감독하는 자가 그들에게 분정된 진미와 마실 포도주를 제하고 채식을 주니라
  So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.

17. 하나님이 이 네 소년에게 지식을 얻게 하시며 모든 학문과 재주에 명철하게 하신 외에 다니엘은 또 모든 이상과 몽조를 깨달아 알더라
  To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.

18. 왕의 명한 바 그들을 불러들일 기한이 찼으므로 환관장이 그들을 데리고 느부갓네살 앞으로 들어갔더니
  At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.

19. 왕이 그들과 말하여 보매 무리 중에 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴와 같은 자 없으므로 그들로 왕 앞에 모시게 하고
  The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.

20. 왕이 그들에게 모든 일을 묻는 중에 그 지혜와 총명이 온 나라 박수와 술객보다 십 배나 나은 줄을 아니라
  In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.

21. 다니엘은 고레스 왕 원년까지 있으니라
  And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

시편 105

1. 여호와께 감사하며 그 이름을 불러 아뢰며 그 행사를 만민 중에 알게 할찌어다
  Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

2. 그에게 노래하며 그를 찬양하며 그의 모든 기사를 말할찌어다
  Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.

3. 그 성호를 자랑하라 무릇 여호와를 구하는 자는 마음이 즐거울찌로다
  Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

4. 여호와와 그 능력을 구할찌어다 그 얼굴을 항상 구할찌어다
  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

5. 그 종 아브라함의 후손 곧 택하신 야곱의 자손 너희는 그의 행하신 기사와 그 이적과 그 입의 판단을 기억할찌어다
  Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

6. 5절과 같음
  O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

7. 그는 여호와 우리 하나님이시라 그의 판단이 온 땅에 있도다
  He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

8. 그는 그 언약 곧 천 대에 명하신 말씀을 영원히 기억하셨으니
  He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations,

9. 이것은 아브라함에게 하신 언약이며 이삭에게 하신 맹세며
  the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.

10. 야곱에게 세우신 율례 곧 이스라엘에게 하신 영영한 언약이라
  He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

11. 이르시기를 내가 가나안 땅을 네게 주어 너희 기업의 지경이 되게 하리라 하셨도다
  "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit."

12. 때에 저희 인수가 적어 매우 영성하며 그 땅에 객이 되어
  When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,

13. 이 족속에게서 저 족속에게로, 이 나라에서 다른 민족에게로 유리하였도다
  they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.

14. 사람이 그들을 해하기를 용납지 아니하시고 그들의 연고로 열왕을 꾸짖어
  He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:

15. 이르시기를 나의 기름 부은 자를 만지지 말며 나의 선지자를 상하지 말라 하셨도다
  "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm."

16. 그가 또 기근을 불러 그 땅에 임하게 하여 그 의뢰하는 양식을 다 끊으셨도다
  He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;

17. 한 사람을 앞서 보내셨음이여 요셉이 종으로 팔렸도다
  and he sent a man before them--Joseph, sold as a slave.

18. 그 발이 착고에 상하며 그 몸이 쇠사슬에 매였으니
  They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons,

19. 곧 여호와의 말씀이 응할 때까지라 그 말씀이 저를 단련하였도다
  till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true.

20. 왕이 사람을 보내어 저를 방석함이여 열방의 통치자가 저로 자유케 하였도다
  The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free.

21. 저로 그 집의 주관자를 삼아 그 모든 소유를 관리케 하고
  He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed,

22. 임의로 백관을 제어하며 지혜로 장로들을 교훈하게 하였도다
  to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.

23. 이에 이스라엘이 애굽에 들어감이여 야곱이 함 땅에 객이 되었도다
  Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.

24. 여호와께서 그 백성을 크게 번성케 하사 그들의 대적보다 강하게 하셨으며
  The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes,

25. 또 저희 마음을 변하여 그 백성을 미워하게 하시며 그 종들에게 교활히 행하게 하셨도다
  whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants.

26. 또 그 종 모세와 그 택하신 아론을 보내시니
  He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.

27. 저희가 그 백성 중에 여호와의 표징을 보이고 함 땅에서 기사를 행하였도다
  They performed his miraculous signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham.

28. 여호와께서 흑암을 보내사 어둡게 하시니 그 말씀을 어기지 아니하였도다
  He sent darkness and made the land dark--for had they not rebelled against his words?

29. 저희 물을 변하여 피가 되게 하사 저희 물고기를 죽이셨도다
  He turned their waters into blood, causing their fish to die.

30. 그 땅에 개구리가 번성하여 왕의 궁실에도 있었도다
  Their land teemed with frogs, which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.

31. 여호와께서 말씀하신즉 파리 떼가 오며 저희 사경에 이가 생겼도다
  He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country.

32. 비 대신 우박을 내리시며 저희 땅에 화염을 내리셨도다
  He turned their rain into hail, with lightning throughout their land;

33. 저희 포도나무와 무화과나무를 치시며 저희 사경의 나무를 찍으셨도다
  he struck down their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country.

34. 여호와께서 말씀하신즉 황충과 무수한 메뚜기가 이르러
  He spoke, and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number;

35. 저희 땅에 모든 채소를 먹으며 그 밭에 열매를 먹었도다
  they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil.

36. 여호와께서 또 저희 땅의 모든 장자를 치시니 곧 저희 모든 기력의 시작이로다
  Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood.

37. 그들을 인도하여 은금을 가지고 나오게 하시니 그 지파 중에 약한 자가 하나도 없었도다
  He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered.

38. 그들의 떠날 때에 애굽이 기뻐하였으니 저희가 그들을 두려워함이로다
  Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them.

39. 여호와께서 구름을 펴사 덮개를 삼으시고 밤에 불로 밝히셨으며
  He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night.

40. 그들이 구한즉 메추라기로 오게 하시며 또 하늘 양식으로 그들을 만족케 하셨도다
  They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41. 반석을 가르신즉 물이 흘러나서 마른 땅에 강같이 흘렀으니
  He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert.

42. 이는 그 거룩한 말씀과 그 종 아브라함을 기억하셨음이로다
  For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham.

43. 그 백성으로 즐거이 나오게 하시며 그 택한 자로 노래하며 나오게 하시고
  He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy;

44. 열방의 땅을 저희에게 주시며 민족들의 수고한 것을 소유로 취하게 하셨으니
  he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for--

45. 이는 저희로 그 율례를 지키며 그 법을 좇게 하려 하심이로다 할렐루야
  that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.
