사무엘하 23

1. 이는 다윗의 마지막 말이라 이새의 아들 다윗이 말함이여 높이 올리운 자, 야곱의 하나님에게 기름 부음받은 자, 이스라엘의 노래 잘하는 자가 말하도다
  These are the last words of David: "The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by the God of Jacob, Israel's singer of songs:

2. 여호와의 신이 나를 빙자하여 말씀하심이여 그 말씀이 내 혀에 있도다
  "The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

3. 이스라엘의 하나님이 말씀하시며 이스라엘의 바위가 내게 이르시기를 사람을 공의로 다스리는 자, 하나님을 경외함으로 다스리는 자여
  The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: 'When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,

4. 저는 돋는 해 아침 빛 같고 구름 없는 아침 같고 비 후의 광선으로 땅에서 움이 돋는 새 풀 같으니라 하시도다
  he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.'

5. 내 집이 하나님 앞에 이같지 아니하냐 하나님이 나로 더불어 영원한 언약을 세우사 만사에 구비하고 견고케 하셨으니 나의 모든 구원과 나의 모든 소원을 어찌 이루지 아니하시랴
  "Is not my house right with God? Has he not made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?

6. 그러나 사악한 자는 다 내어 버리울 가시나무 같으니 이는 손으로 잡을 수 없음이로다
  But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns, which are not gathered with the hand.

7. 그것들을 만지는 자는 철과 창자루를 가져야 하리니 그것들이 당장에 불사르이리로다 하니라
  Whoever touches thorns uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear; they are burned up where they lie."

8. 다윗의 용사들의 이름이 이러하니라 다그몬 사람 요셉밧세벳이라고도 하고 에센 사람 아디노라고도 하는 자는 군장의 두목이라 저가 한때에 팔백 인을 쳐죽였더라
  These are the names of David's mighty men: Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.

9. 그 다음은 아호아 사람 도대의 아들 엘르아살이니 다윗과 함께한 세 용사 중에 하나이라 블레셋 사람이 싸우려고 모이매 이스라엘 사람들이 물러간지라 세 용사가 싸움을 돋우고
  Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the men of Israel retreated,

10. 저가 나가서 손이 피곤하여 칼에 붙기까지 블레셋 사람을 치니라 그 날에 여호와께서 크게 이기게 하셨으므로 백성들은 돌아와서 저의 뒤를 따라가며 노략할 뿐이었더라
  but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead.

11. 그 다음은 하랄 사람 아게의 아들 삼마라 블레셋 사람이 떼를 지어 녹두나무가 가득한 밭에 모이매 백성들은 블레셋 사람 앞에서 도망하되
  Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel's troops fled from them.

12. 저는 그 밭 가운데 서서 막아 블레셋 사람을 친지라 여호와께서 큰 구원을 이루시니라
  But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory.

13. 또 삼십 두목 중 세 사람이 곡식 벨 때에 아둘람 굴에 이르러 다윗에게 나아갔는데 때에 블레셋 사람의 떼가 르바임 골짜기에 진쳤더라
  During harvest time, three of the thirty chief men came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

14. 그 때에 다윗은 산성에 있고 블레셋 사람의 영채는 베들레헴에 있는지라
  At that time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem.

15. 다윗이 사모하여 가로되 베들레헴 성문 곁 우물 물을 누가 나로 마시게 할꼬 하매
  David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!"

16. 세 용사가 블레셋 사람의 군대를 충돌하고 지나가서 베들레헴 성문 곁 우물 물을 길어 가지고 다윗에게로 왔으나 다윗이 마시기를 기뻐 아니하고 그 물을 여호와께 부어 드리며
  So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the LORD.

17. 가로되 여호와여 내가 결단코 이런 일을 하지 아니하리이다 이는 생명을 돌아보지 아니하고 갔던 사람들의 피니이다 하고 마시기를 즐겨 아니하니라 세 용사가 이런 일을 행하였더라
  "Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this!" he said. "Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?" And David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

18. 또 스루야의 아들 요압의 아우 아비새니 저는 그 삼 인의 두목이라 저가 창을 들어 삼백 인을 죽이고 그 삼 인 중에 이름을 얻었으니
  Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three.

19. 저는 삼 인 중에 가장 존귀한 자가 아니냐 저가 저희의 두목이 되었으나 그러나 첫 삼 인에게는 미치지 못하였더라
  Was he not held in greater honor than the Three? He became their commander, even though he was not included among them.

20. 또 갑스엘 용사의 손자 여호야다의 아들 브나야니 저는 효용한 일을 행한 자라 일찌기 모압 아리엘의 아들 둘을 죽였고 또 눈 올 때에 함정에 내려가서 한 사자를 죽였으며
  Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, who performed great exploits. He struck down two of Moab's best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.

21. 또 장대한 애굽 사람을 죽였는데 그의 손에 창이 있어도 저가 막대를 가지고 내려가서 그 애굽 사람의 손에서 창을 빼앗아 그 창으로 죽였더라
  And he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear.

22. 여호야다의 아들 브나야가 이런 일을 행하였으므로 세 용사 중에 이름을 얻고
  Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he too was as famous as the three mighty men.

23. 삼십 인보다 존귀하나 그러나 첫 삼 인에게는 미치지 못하였더라 다윗이 저를 세워 시위대 장관을 삼았더라
  He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty, but he was not included among the Three. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard.

24. 요압의 아우 아사헬은 삼십 인 중에 하나요 또 베들레헴 도도의 아들 엘하난과
  Among the Thirty were: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo from Bethlehem,

25. 하롯 사람 삼훗과 하롯 사람 엘리가와
  Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26. 발디 사람 헬레스와 드고아 사람 익게스의 아들 이라와
  Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh from Tekoa,

27. 아나돗 사람 아비에셀과 후사 사람 므분내와
  Abiezer from Anathoth, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28. 아호아 사람 살몬과 느도바 사람 마하래와
  Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29. 느도바 사람 바아나의 아들 헬렙과 베냐민 자손에 속한 기브아 사람 리배의 아들 잇대와
  Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah in Benjamin,

30. 비라돈 사람 브나야와 가아스 시냇가에 사는 힛대와
  Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai from the ravines of Gaash,

31. 아르바 사람 아비알본과 바르훔 사람 아스마웻과
  Abi-Albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

32. 사알본 사람 엘리아바와 야센의 아들 요나단과
  Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan

33. 하랄 사람 삼마와 아랄 사람 사랄의 아들 아히암과
  son of Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam son of Sharar the Hararite,

34. 마아가 사람의 손자 아하스배의 아들 엘리벨렛과 길로 사람 아히도벨의 아들 엘리암과
  Eliphelet son of Ahasbai the Maacathite, Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

35. 갈멜 사람 헤스래와 아랍 사람 바아래와
  Hezro the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

36. 소바 나단의 아들 이갈과 갓 사람 바니와
  Igal son of Nathan from Zobah, the son of Hagri,

37. 암몬 사람 셀렉과 스루야의 아들 요압의 병기 잡은 자 브에롯 사람 나하래와
  Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,

38. 이델 사람 이라와 이델 사람 가렙과
  Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite

39. 헷 사람 우리아라 이상 도합이 삼십칠 인이었더라
  and Uriah the Hittite. There were thirty-seven in all.

갈라디아서 3

1. 어리석도다 갈라디아 사람들아 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에 못 박히신 것이 너희 눈 앞에 밝히 보이거늘 누가 너희를 꾀더냐
  You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.

2. 내가 너희에게 다만 이것을 알려 하노니 너희가 성령을 받은 것은 율법의 행위로냐 듣고 믿음으로냐
  I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?

3. 너희가 이같이 어리석으냐 성령으로 시작하였다가 이제는 육체로 마치겠느냐
  Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

4. 너희가 이같이 많은 괴로움을 헛되이 받았느냐 과연 헛되냐
  Have you suffered so much for nothing--if it really was for nothing?

5. 너희에게 성령을 주시고 너희 가운데서 능력을 행하시는 이의 일이 율법의 행위에서냐 듣고 믿음에서냐
  Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?

6. 아브라함이 하나님을 믿으매 이것을 그에게 의로 정하셨다 함과 같으니라
  Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."

7. 그런즉 믿음으로 말미암은 자들은 아브라함의 아들인줄 알찌어다
  Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham.

8. 또 하나님이 이방을 믿음으로 말미암아 의로 정하실 것을 성경이 미리 알고 먼저 아브라함에게 복음을 전하되 모든 이방이 너를 인하여 복을 받으리라 하였으니
  The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."

9. 그러므로 믿음으로 말미암은 자는 믿음이 있는 아브라함과 함께 복을 받느니라
  So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

10. 무릇 율법 행위에 속한 자들은 저주 아래 있나니 기록된 바 누구든지 율법책에 기록된 대로 온갖 일을 항상 행하지 아니하는 자는 저주 아래 있는 자라 하였음이라
  All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."

11. 또 하나님 앞에서 아무나 율법으로 말미암아 의롭게 되지 못할 것이 분명하니 이는 의인이 믿음으로 살리라 하였음이니라
  Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."

12. 율법은 믿음에서 난 것이 아니라 이를 행하는 자는 그 가운데서 살리라 하였느니라
  The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them."

13. 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 저주를 받은 바 되사 율법의 저주에서 우리를 속량하셨으니 기록된 바 나무에 달린 자마다 저주 아래 있는 자라 하였음이라
  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

14. 이는 그리스도 예수 안에서 아브라함의 복이 이방인에게 미치게 하고 또 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 성령의 약속을 받게 하려 함이니라
  He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

15. 형제들아 사람의 예대로 말하노니 사람의 언약이라도 정한 후에는 아무나 폐하거나 더하거나 하지 못하느니라
  Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.

16. 이 약속들은 아브라함과 그 자손에게 말씀하신 것인데 여럿을 가리켜 그 자손들이라 하지 아니하시고 오직 하나를 가리켜 네 자손이라 하셨으니 곧 그리스도라
  The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.

17. 내가 이것을 말하노니 하나님의 미리 정하신 언약을 사백삼십 년 후에 생긴 율법이 없이 하지 못하여 그 약속을 헛되게 하지 못하리라
  What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

18. 만일 그 유업이 율법에서 난 것이면 약속에서 난 것이 아니리라 그러나 하나님이 약속으로 말미암아 아브라함에게 은혜로 주신 것이라
  For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

19. 그런즉 율법은 무엇이냐 범법함을 인하여 더한 것이라 천사들로 말미암아 중보의 손을 빌어 베푸신 것인데 약속하신 자손이 오시기까지 있을 것이라
  What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator.

20. 중보는 한편만 위한 자가 아니니 오직 하나님은 하나이시니라
  A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one.

21. 그러면 율법이 하나님의 약속들을 거스리느냐 결코 그럴 수 없느니라 만일 능히 살게 하는 율법을 주셨더면 의가 반드시 율법으로 말미암았으리라
  Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.

22. 그러나 성경이 모든 것을 죄 아래 가두었으니 이는 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암은 약속을 믿는 자들에게 주려 함이니라
  But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

23. 믿음이 오기 전에 우리가 율법 아래 매인 바 되고 계시될 믿음의 때까지 갇혔느니라
  Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.

24. 이같이 율법이 우리를 그리스도에게로 인도하는 몽학선생이 되어 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭다 함을 얻게 하려 함이니라
  So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.

25. 믿음이 온 후로는 우리가 몽학선생 아래 있지 아니하도다
  Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

26. 너희가 다 믿음으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 아들이 되었으니
  You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,

27. 누구든지 그리스도와 합하여 세례를 받은 자는 그리스도로 옷 입었느니라
  for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

28. 너희는 유대인이나 헬라인이나 종이나 자주자나 남자나 여자 없이 다 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나이니라
  There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29. 너희가 그리스도께 속한 자면 곧 아브라함의 자손이요 약속대로 유업을 이을 자니라
  If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

에스겔 30

1. 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 가라사대
  The word of the LORD came to me:

2. 인자야 너는 예언하여 이르라 주 여호와의 말씀에 너희는 통곡하며 이르기를 슬프다 이 날이여 하라
  "Son of man, prophesy and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Wail and say, "Alas for that day!"

3. 그 날이 가까왔도다 여호와의 날이 가까왔도다 구름의 날일 것이요 열국의 때이리로다
  For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near--a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations.

4. 애굽에 칼이 임할 것이라 애굽에서 살륙당한 자들이 엎드러질 때에 구스에 심한 근심이 있을 것이며 애굽의 무리가 옮기우며 그 기지가 헐릴 것이요
  A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.

5. 구스와 붓과 룻과 모든 섞인 백성과 굽과 및 동맹한 땅의 백성들이 그들과 함께 칼에 엎드러지리라
  Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

6. 나 여호와가 말하노라 애굽을 붙들어 주는 자도 엎드러질 것이요 애굽의 교만한 권세도 낮아질 것이라 믹돌에서부터 수에네까지 무리가 그 가운데서 칼에 엎드러지리라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라
  "'This is what the LORD says: "'The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign LORD.

7. 황무한 열방같이 그들도 황무할 것이며 사막이 된 성읍들같이 그 성읍들도 사막이 될 것이라
  "'They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities.

8. 내가 애굽에 불을 일으키며 그 모든 돕는 자를 멸할 때에 그들이 나를 여호와인 줄 알리라
  Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.

9. 그 날에 사자들이 내 앞에서 배로 나아가서 염려 없는 구스 사람을 두렵게 하리니 애굽의 재앙의 날과 같이 그들에게도 심한 근심이 있으리라 이것이 오리로다
  "'On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt's doom, for it is sure to come.

10. 나 주 여호와가 말하노라 내가 또 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손으로 애굽 무리들을 끊으리니
  "'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

11. 그가 열국 중에 강포한 자기 군대를 거느리고 와서 그 땅을 멸할 때에 칼을 빼어 애굽을 쳐서 살륙당한 자로 땅에 가득하게 하리라
  He and his army--the most ruthless of nations--will be brought in to destroy the land. They will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.

12. 내가 그 모든 강을 말리우고 그 땅을 악인의 손에 팔겠으며 타국 사람의 손으로 그 땅과 그 가운데 있는 모든 것을 황무케 하리라 나 여호와의 말이니라
  I will dry up the streams of the Nile and sell the land to evil men; by the hand of foreigners I will lay waste the land and everything in it. I the LORD have spoken.

13. 나 주 여호와가 말하노라 내가 그 우상들을 멸하며 신상들을 놉 가운데서 끊으며 애굽 땅에서 왕이 다시 나지 못하게 하고 그 땅에 두려움이 있게 하리라
  "'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. No longer will there be a prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land.

14. 내가 바드로스를 황무케 하며 소안에 불을 일으키며 노를 국문하며
  I will lay waste Upper Egypt, set fire to Zoan and inflict punishment on Thebes.

15. 내 분노를 애굽의 견고한 성 신에 쏟고 또 노의 무리를 끊을 것이라
  I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, the stronghold of Egypt, and cut off the hordes of Thebes.

16. 내가 애굽에 불을 일으키리니 신이 심히 근심할 것이며 노는 찢어 나뉠 것이며 놉은 날로 대적이 있을 것이며
  I will set fire to Egypt; Pelusium will writhe in agony. Thebes will be taken by storm; Memphis will be in constant distress.

17. 아웬과 비베셋의 소년들은 칼에 엎드러질 것이며 그 성읍 거민들은 포로될 것이라
  The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis will fall by the sword, and the cities themselves will go into captivity.

18. 내가 애굽 멍에를 꺾으며 그 교만한 권세를 그 가운데서 그치게 할 때에 드합느헤스에서는 날이 어둡겠고 그 성읍에는 구름이 덮일 것이며 그 딸들은 포로될 것이라
  Dark will be the day at Tahpanhes when I break the yoke of Egypt; there her proud strength will come to an end. She will be covered with clouds, and her villages will go into captivity.

19. 이와 같이 내가 애굽을 국문하리니 그들이 나를 여호와인 줄 알리라 하셨다 하라
  So I will inflict punishment on Egypt, and they will know that I am the LORD.'"

20. 제 십일 년 정월 칠일에 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 가라사대
  In the eleventh year, in the first month on the seventh day, the word of the LORD came to me:

21. 인자야 내가 애굽 왕 바로의 팔을 꺾었더니 칼을 잡을 힘이 있도록 그것을 그저 싸매지도 못하였고 약을 붙여 싸매지도 못하였느니라
  "Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt. It has not been bound up for healing or put in a splint so as to become strong enough to hold a sword.

22. 그러므로 나 주 여호와가 말하노라 내가 애굽 왕 바로를 대적하여 그 두 팔 곧 성한 팔과 이미 꺾인 팔을 꺾어서 칼이 그 손에서 떨어지게 하고
  Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break both his arms, the good arm as well as the broken one, and make the sword fall from his hand.

23. 애굽 사람을 열국 가운데로 흩으며 열방 가운데로 헤칠찌라
  I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.

24. 내가 바벨론 왕의 팔을 견고하게 하고 내 칼을 그 손에 붙이려니와 내가 바로의 팔을 꺾으리니 그가 바벨론 왕의 앞에서 고통하기를 죽게 상한 자의 고통하듯 하리라
  I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him like a mortally wounded man.

25. 내가 바벨론 왕의 팔은 들어 주고 바로의 팔은 떨어뜨릴 것이라 내가 내 칼을 바벨론 왕의 손에 붙이고 그로 들어 애굽 땅을 치게 하리니 그들이 나를 여호와인 줄 알겠고
  I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he brandishes it against Egypt.

26. 내가 애굽 사람을 열국 가운데로 흩으며 열방 가운데로 헤치리니 그들이 나를 여호와인 줄 알리라
  I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. Then they will know that I am the LORD."

시편 78:38-72

38. 오직 하나님은 자비하심으로 죄악을 사하사 멸하지 아니하시고 그 진노를 여러 번 돌이키시며 그 분을 다 발하지 아니하셨으니
  Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.

39. 저희는 육체뿐이라 가고 다시 오지 못하는 바람임을 기억하셨음이로다
  He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.

40. 저희가 광야에서 그를 반항하며 사막에서 그를 슬프시게 함이 몇 번인고
  How often they rebelled against him in the desert and grieved him in the wasteland!

41. 저희가 돌이켜 하나님을 재삼 시험하며 이스라엘의 거룩한 자를 격동하였도다
  Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel.

42. 저희가 그의 권능을 기억지 아니하며 대적에게서 구속하신 날도 생각지 아니하였도다
  They did not remember his power--the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,

43. 그 때에 하나님이 애굽에서 그 징조를, 소안 들에서 그 기사를 나타내사
  the day he displayed his miraculous signs in Egypt, his wonders in the region of Zoan.

44. 저희의 강과 시내를 피로 변하여 저희로 마실 수 없게 하시며
  He turned their rivers to blood; they could not drink from their streams.

45. 파리 떼를 저희 중에 보내어 물게 하시고 개구리를 보내어 해하게 하셨으며
  He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.

46. 저희의 토산물을 황충에게 주시며 저희의 수고한 것을 메뚜기에게 주셨으며
  He gave their crops to the grasshopper, their produce to the locust.

47. 저희 포도나무를 우박으로, 저희 뽕나무를 서리로 죽이셨으며
  He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore-figs with sleet.

48. 저희 가축을 우박에, 저희 양 떼를 번갯불에 붙이셨으며
  He gave over their cattle to the hail, their livestock to bolts of lightning.

49. 그 맹렬한 노와 분과 분노와 고난 곧 벌하는 사자들을 저희에게 내려보내셨으며
  He unleashed against them his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility--a band of destroying angels.

50. 그 노를 위하여 치도하사 저희 혼의 사망을 면케 아니하시고 저희 생명을 염병에 붙이셨으며
  He prepared a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death but gave them over to the plague.

51. 애굽에서 모든 장자 곧 함의 장막에 있는 그 기력의 시작을 치셨으나
  He struck down all the firstborn of Egypt, the firstfruits of manhood in the tents of Ham.

52. 자기 백성을 양같이 인도하여 내시고 광야에서 양 떼같이 지도하셨도다
  But he brought his people out like a flock; he led them like sheep through the desert.

53. 저희를 안전히 인도하시니 저희는 두려움이 없었으나 저희 원수는 바다에 엄몰되었도다
  He guided them safely, so they were unafraid; but the sea engulfed their enemies.

54. 저희를 그 성소의 지경 곧 그의 오른손이 취하신 산으로 인도하시고
  Thus he brought them to the border of his holy land, to the hill country his right hand had taken.

55. 또 열방을 저희 앞에서 쫓아내시며 줄로 저희 기업을 분배하시고 이스라엘 지파로 그 장막에 거하게 하셨도다
  He drove out nations before them and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance; he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.

56. 그럴찌라도 저희가 지존하신 하나님을 시험하며 반항하여 그 증거를 지키지 아니하며
  But they put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep his statutes.

57. 저희 열조같이 배반하고 궤사를 행하여 속이는 활같이 빗가서
  Like their fathers they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.

58. 자기 산당으로 그 노를 격동하며 저희 조각한 우상으로 그를 진노케 하였으매
  They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.

59. 하나님이 들으시고 분내어 이스라엘을 크게 미워하사
  When God heard them, he was very angry; he rejected Israel completely.

60. 실로의 성막 곧 인간에 세우신 장막을 떠나시고
  He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent he had set up among men.

61. 그 능력 된 자를 포로에 붙이시며 자기 영광을 대적의 손에 붙이시고
  He sent the ark of his might into captivity, his splendor into the hands of the enemy.

62. 그 백성을 또 칼에 붙이사 그의 기업에게 분내셨으니
  He gave his people over to the sword; he was very angry with his inheritance.

63. 저희 청년은 불에 살라지고 저희 처녀에게는 혼인 노래가 없으며
  Fire consumed their young men, and their maidens had no wedding songs;

64. 저희 제사장들은 칼에 엎드러지고 저희 과부들은 애곡하지 못하였도다
  their priests were put to the sword, and their widows could not weep.

65. 때에 주께서 자다가 깬자 같이, 포도주로 인하여 외치는 용사 같이 일어나사
  Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a man wakes from the stupor of wine.

66. 그 대적을 쳐 물리쳐서 길이 욕되게 하시고
  He beat back his enemies; he put them to everlasting shame.

67. 또 요셉의 장막을 싫어 버리시며 에브라임 지파를 택하지 아니하시고
  Then he rejected the tents of Joseph, he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim;

68. 오직 유다 지파와 그 사랑하시는 시온 산을 택하시고
  but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.

69. 그 성소를 산의 높음같이, 영원히 두신 땅같이 지으셨으며
  He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever.

70. 또 그 종 다윗을 택하시되 양의 우리에서 취하시며
  He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens;

71. 젖양을 지키는 중에서 저희를 이끄사 그 백성인 야곱, 그 기업인 이스라엘을 기르게 하셨더니
  from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance.

72. 이에 저가 그 마음의 성실함으로 기르고 그 손의 공교함으로 지도하였도다
  And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.
