사사기 21

1. 이스라엘 사람들이 미스바에서 맹세하여 이르기를 우리 중에 누구든지 딸을 베냐민 사람에게 아내로 주지 아니하리라 하였더라
  The men of Israel had taken an oath at Mizpah: "Not one of us will give his daughter in marriage to a Benjamite."

2. 백성이 벧엘에 이르러 거기서 저녁까지 하나님 앞에 앉아서 대성 통곡하여
  The people went to Bethel, where they sat before God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly.

3. 가로되 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 오늘날 이스라엘 중에 어찌하여 한 지파가 이즈러졌나이까 하더니
  "O LORD, the God of Israel," they cried, "why has this happened to Israel? Why should one tribe be missing from Israel today?"

4. 이튿날에 백성이 일찌기 일어나서 거기 한 단을 쌓고 번제와 화목제를 드렸더라
  Early the next day the people built an altar and presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings.

5. 이스라엘 자손이 가로되 이스라엘 온 지파 중에 총회와 함께 하여 여호와 앞에 올라오지 아니한 자가 누구뇨 하니 이는 그들이 크게 맹세하기를 미스바에 와서 여호와 앞에 이르지 아니하는 자는 반드시 죽일 것이라 하였음이라
  Then the Israelites asked, "Who from all the tribes of Israel has failed to assemble before the LORD?" For they had taken a solemn oath that anyone who failed to assemble before the LORD at Mizpah should certainly be put to death.

6. 이스라엘 자손이 그 형제 베냐민을 위하여 뉘우쳐 가로되 오늘날 이스라엘 중에 한 지파가 끊쳤도다
  Now the Israelites grieved for their brothers, the Benjamites. "Today one tribe is cut off from Israel," they said.

7. 그 남은 자들에게 우리가 어떻게 하면 아내를 얻게 하리요 우리가 전에 여호와로 맹세하여 우리 딸을 그들의 아내로 주지 아니하리라 하였도다
  "How can we provide wives for those who are left, since we have taken an oath by the LORD not to give them any of our daughters in marriage?"

8. 또 가로되 이스라엘 지파 중 미스바에 올라와서 여호와께 이르지 아니한 자가 누구뇨 하고 본즉 야베스 길르앗에서는 한 사람도 진에 이르러 총회에 참예치 아니하였으니
  Then they asked, "Which one of the tribes of Israel failed to assemble before the LORD at Mizpah?" They discovered that no one from Jabesh Gilead had come to the camp for the assembly.

9. 백성을 계수할 때에 야베스 길르앗 거민이 하나도 거기 없음을 보았음이라
  For when they counted the people, they found that none of the people of Jabesh Gilead were there.

10. 회중이 큰 용사 일만 이천을 그리로 보내며 그들에게 명하여 가로되 가서 야베스 길르앗 거민과 및 부녀와 어린아이를 칼날로 치라
  So the assembly sent twelve thousand fighting men with instructions to go to Jabesh Gilead and put to the sword those living there, including the women and children.

11. 너희의 행할 일은 모든 남자와 남자와 잔 여자를 진멸할 것이니라 하였더니
  "This is what you are to do," they said. "Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin."

12. 그들이 야베스 길르앗 거민 중에서 젊은 처녀 사백 인을 얻었으니 이는 아직 남자와 자지 아니하여서 남자를 알지 못하는 자라 그들이 실로 진으로 끌어오니라 이는 가나안 땅이더라
  They found among the people living in Jabesh Gilead four hundred young women who had never slept with a man, and they took them to the camp at Shiloh in Canaan.

13. 온 회중이 림몬 바위에 있는 베냐민 자손에게 보내어 평화를 공포하게 하였더니
  Then the whole assembly sent an offer of peace to the Benjamites at the rock of Rimmon.

14. 그 때에 베냐민이 돌아온지라 이에 이스라엘 사람이 야베스 길르앗 여인 중에서 살려둔 여자를 그들에게 주었으나 오히려 부족하므로
  So the Benjamites returned at that time and were given the women of Jabesh Gilead who had been spared. But there were not enough for all of them.

15. 백성들이 베냐민을 위하여 뉘우쳤으니 이는 여호와께서 이스라엘 지파들 중에 한 지파가 궐이 나게 하셨음이더라
  The people grieved for Benjamin, because the LORD had made a gap in the tribes of Israel.

16. 회중 장로들이 가로되 베냐민의 여인이 다 멸절되었으니 이제 그 남은 자들에게 어떻게 하여야 아내를 얻게 할꼬
  And the elders of the assembly said, "With the women of Benjamin destroyed, how shall we provide wives for the men who are left?

17. 또 가로되 베냐민의 도망하여 면한 자에게 마땅히 기업이 있어야 하리니 그리하면 이스라엘 중에 한 지파가 사라짐이 없으리라
  The Benjamite survivors must have heirs," they said, "so that a tribe of Israel will not be wiped out.

18. 그러나 우리가 우리의 딸을 그들의 아내로 주지 못하리니 이는 이스라엘 자손이 맹세하여 이르기를 딸을 베냐민에게 아내로 주는 자는 저주를 받으리라 하였음이로다
  We can't give them our daughters as wives, since we Israelites have taken this oath: 'Cursed be anyone who gives a wife to a Benjamite.'

19. 또 가로되 보라 벧엘 북편, 르보나 남편 벧엘에서 세겜으로 올라가는 큰 길 동편 실로에 매년 여호와의 절기가 있도다 하고
  But look, there is the annual festival of the LORD in Shiloh, to the north of Bethel, and east of the road that goes from Bethel to Shechem, and to the south of Lebonah."

20. 베냐민 자손에게 명하여 가로되 가서 포도원에 숨어
  So they instructed the Benjamites, saying, "Go and hide in the vineyards

21. 보다가 실로의 여자들이 무도하러 나오거든 너희는 포도원에서 나와서 실로의 딸 중에서 각각 그 아내로 붙들어 가지고 베냐민 땅으로 돌아가라
  and watch. When the girls of Shiloh come out to join in the dancing, then rush from the vineyards and each of you seize a wife from the girls of Shiloh and go to the land of Benjamin.

22. 만일 그 아비나 형제가 와서 우리에게 쟁론하면 우리가 그에게 말하기를 청컨대 너희는 우리에게 은혜를 베풀어 그들을 우리에게 줄찌니라 이는 우리가 전쟁할 때에 각 사람을 위하여 그 아내를 얻어 주지 못하였고 너희가 자의로 그들에게 준것이 아니니 너희에게 죄가 없을 것임이니라 하겠노라 하매
  When their fathers or brothers complain to us, we will say to them, 'Do us a kindness by helping them, because we did not get wives for them during the war, and you are innocent, since you did not give your daughters to them.'"

23. 베냐민 자손이 그같이 행하여 춤추는 여자 중에서 자기들의 수효대로 아내로 붙들어 가지고 자기 기업에 돌아가서 성읍들을 중건하고 거기 거하니라
  So that is what the Benjamites did. While the girls were dancing, each man caught one and carried her off to be his wife. Then they returned to their inheritance and rebuilt the towns and settled in them.

24. 그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 그 곳을 떠나 각각 그 지파, 그 가족에게로 돌아가되 곧 각각 그 곳에서 나와서 자기 기업으로 돌아갔더라
  At that time the Israelites left that place and went home to their tribes and clans, each to his own inheritance.

25. 그 때에 이스라엘에 왕이 없으므로 사람이 각각 그 소견에 옳은 대로 행하였더라
  In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

사도행전 25

1. 베스도가 도임한 지 삼 일 후에 가이사랴에서 예루살렘으로 올라가니
  Three days after arriving in the province, Festus went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem,

2. 대제사장들과 유대인 중 높은 사람들이 바울을 고소할쌔
  where the chief priests and Jewish leaders appeared before him and presented the charges against Paul.

3. 베스도의 호의로 바울을 예루살렘으로 옮겨 보내기를 청하니 이는 길에 매복하였다가 그를 죽이고자 함이러라
  They urgently requested Festus, as a favor to them, to have Paul transferred to Jerusalem, for they were preparing an ambush to kill him along the way.

4. 베스도가 대답하여 바울이 가이사랴에 구류된 것과 자기도 미구에 떠나갈 것을 말하고
  Festus answered, "Paul is being held at Caesarea, and I myself am going there soon.

5. 또 가로되 너희 중 유력한 자들은 나와 함께 내려가서 그 사람에게 만일 옳지 아니한 일이 있거든 송사하라 하니라
  Let some of your leaders come with me and press charges against the man there, if he has done anything wrong."

6. 베스도가 그들 가운데서 팔 일 혹 십 일을 지낸 후 가이사랴로 내려가서 이튿날 재판 자리에 앉고 바울을 데려오라 명하니
  After spending eight or ten days with them, he went down to Caesarea, and the next day he convened the court and ordered that Paul be brought before him.

7. 그가 나오매 예루살렘에서 내려온 유대인들이 둘러서서 여러 가지 중대한 사건으로 송사하되 능히 증명하지 못한지라
  When Paul appeared, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many serious charges against him, which they could not prove.

8. 바울이 변명하여 가로되 유대인의 율법이나 성전이나 가이사에게나 내가 도무지 죄를 범하지 아니하였노라 하니
  Then Paul made his defense: "I have done nothing wrong against the law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar."

9. 베스도가 유대인의 마음을 얻고자 하여 바울더러 묻되 네가 예루살렘에 올라가서 이 사건에 대하여 내 앞에서 심문을 받으려느냐
  Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there on these charges?"

10. 바울이 가로되 내가 가이사의 재판 자리 앞에 섰으니 마땅히 거기서 심문을 받을 것이라 당신도 잘 아시는 바에 내가 유대인들에게 불의를 행한 일이 없나이다
  Paul answered: "I am now standing before Caesar's court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well.

11. 만일 내가 불의를 행하여 무슨 사죄를 범하였으면 죽기를 사양치 아니할 것이나 만일 이 사람들의 나를 송사하는 것이 다 사실이 아니면 누구든지 나를 그들에게 내어 줄 수 없삽나이다 내가 가이사께 호소하노라 한대
  If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!"

12. 베스도가 배석자들과 상의하고 가로되 네가 가이사에게 호소하였으니 가이사에게 갈 것이라 하니라
  After Festus had conferred with his council, he declared: "You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!"

13. 수일 후에 아그립바 왕과 버니게가 베스도에게 문안하러 가이사랴에 와서
  A few days later King Agrippa and Bernice arrived at Caesarea to pay their respects to Festus.

14. 여러 날을 있더니 베스도가 바울의 일로 왕에게 고하여 가로되 벨릭스가 한 사람을 구류하여 두었는데
  Since they were spending many days there, Festus discussed Paul's case with the king. He said: "There is a man here whom Felix left as a prisoner.

15. 내가 예루살렘에 있을 때에 유대인의 대제사장들과 장로들이 그를 고소하여 정죄하기를 청하기에
  When I went to Jerusalem, the chief priests and elders of the Jews brought charges against him and asked that he be condemned.

16. 내가 대답하되 무릇 피고가 원고들 앞에서 고소 사건에 대하여 변명할 기회가 있기 전에 내어 주는 것이 로마 사람의 법이 아니라 하였노라
  "I told them that it is not the Roman custom to hand over any man before he has faced his accusers and has had an opportunity to defend himself against their charges.

17. 그러므로 저희가 나와 함께 여기 오매 내가 지체하지 아니하고 이튿날 재판 자리에 앉아 명하여 그 사람을 데려왔으나
  When they came here with me, I did not delay the case, but convened the court the next day and ordered the man to be brought in.

18. 원고들이 서서 나의 짐작하던 것 같은 악행의 사건은 하나도 제출치 아니하고
  When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected.

19. 오직 자기들의 종교와 또는 예수라 하는 이의 죽은 것을 살았다고 바울이 주장하는 그 일에 관한 문제로 송사하는 것뿐이라
  Instead, they had some points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive.

20. 내가 이 일을 어떻게 사실할는지 의심이 있어서 바울에게 묻되 예루살렘에 올라가서 이 일에 심문을 받으려느냐 한즉
  I was at a loss how to investigate such matters; so I asked if he would be willing to go to Jerusalem and stand trial there on these charges.

21. 바울은 황제의 판결을 받도록 자기를 지켜 주기를 호소하므로 내가 그를 가이사에게 보내기까지 지켜 두라 명하였노라 하니
  When Paul made his appeal to be held over for the Emperor's decision, I ordered him held until I could send him to Caesar."

22. 아그립바가 베스도더러 이르되 나도 이 사람의 말을 듣고자 하노라 베스도가 가로되 내일 들으시리이다 하더라
  Then Agrippa said to Festus, "I would like to hear this man myself." He replied, "Tomorrow you will hear him."

23. 이튿날 아그립바와 버니게가 크게 위의를 베풀고 와서 천부장들과 성중의 높은 사람들과 함께 신문소에 들어오고 베스도의 명으로 바울을 데려오니
  The next day Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp and entered the audience room with the high ranking officers and the leading men of the city. At the command of Festus, Paul was brought in.

24. 베스도가 말하되 아그립바 왕과 여기 같이 있는 여러분이여 당신들이 보는 이 사람은 유대의 모든 무리가 크게 외치되 살려 두지 못할 사람이라고 하여 예루살렘에서와 여기서도 내게 청원하였으나
  Festus said: "King Agrippa, and all who are present with us, you see this man! The whole Jewish community has petitioned me about him in Jerusalem and here in Caesarea, shouting that he ought not to live any longer.

25. 나는 살피건대 죽일 죄를 범한 일이 없더이다 그러나 저가 황제에게 호소한 고로 보내기를 작정하였나이다
  I found he had done nothing deserving of death, but because he made his appeal to the Emperor I decided to send him to Rome.

26. 그에게 대하여 황제께 확실한 사실을 아뢸 것이 없으므로 심문한 후 상소할 재료가 있을까 하여 당신들 앞 특히 아그립바 왕 당신 앞에 그를 내어 세웠나이다
  But I have nothing definite to write to His Majesty about him. Therefore I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that as a result of this investigation I may have something to write.

27. 그 죄목을 베풀지 아니하고 죄수를 보내는 것이 무리한 일인 줄 아나이다 하였더라
  For I think it is unreasonable to send on a prisoner without specifying the charges against him."

■ 혼자 읽기

예레미야 35

1. 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야김 때에 여호와께로서 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니라 가라사대
  This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD during the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:

2. 너는 레갑 족속에게 가서 그들에게 말하고 그들을 여호와의 집 한 방으로 데려다가 포도주를 마시우라
  "Go to the Recabite family and invite them to come to one of the side rooms of the house of the LORD and give them wine to drink."

3. 이에 내가 하바시냐의 손자요 예레미야의 아들인 야아사냐와 그 형제와 그 모든 아들과 레갑 온 족속을 데리고
  So I went to get Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons--the whole family of the Recabites.

4. 여호와의 집에 이르러 익다랴의 아들 하나님의 사람 하난의 아들들의 방에 들였는데 그 방은 방백들의 방 곁이요 문을 지키는 살룸의 아들 마아세야의 방 위더라
  I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the room of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah the man of God. It was next to the room of the officials, which was over that of Maaseiah son of Shallum the doorkeeper.

5. 내가 레갑 족속 사람들 앞에 포도주가 가득한 사발과 잔을 놓고 마시라 권하매
  Then I set bowls full of wine and some cups before the men of the Recabite family and said to them, "Drink some wine."

6. 그들이 가로되 우리는 포도주를 마시지 아니하겠노라 레갑의 아들 우리 선조 요나답이 우리에게 명하여 이르기를 너희와 너희 자손은 영영히 포도주를 마시지 말며
  But they replied, "We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jonadab son of Recab gave us this command: 'Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine.

7. 집도 짓지 말며 파종도 하지 말며 포도원도 재배치 말며 두지도 말고 너희 평생에 장막에 거처하라 그리하면 너희의 우거하는 땅에서 너희 생명이 길리라 하였으므로
  Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents. Then you will live a long time in the land where you are nomads.'

8. 우리가 레갑의 아들 우리 선조 요나답의 우리에게 명한 모든 말을 순종하여 우리와 우리 아내와 자녀가 평생에 포도주를 마시지 아니하며
  We have obeyed everything our forefather Jonadab son of Recab commanded us. Neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters have ever drunk wine

9. 거처할 집도 짓지 아니하며 포도원이나 밭이나 종자도 두지 아니하고
  or built houses to live in or had vineyards, fields or crops.

10. 장막에 거처하여 우리 선조 요나답의 우리에게 명한 대로 다 준행하였노라
  We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed everything our forefather Jonadab commanded us.

11. 그러나 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 이 땅에 올라왔을 때에 우리가 말하기를 갈대아인의 군대와 수리아인의 군대가 두려운즉 예루살렘으로 가자 하고 우리가 예루살렘에 거하였노라
  But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded this land, we said, 'Come, we must go to Jerusalem to escape the Babylonian and Aramean armies.' So we have remained in Jerusalem."

12. 때에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 가라사대
  Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying:

13. 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라 너는 가서 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 거민에게 이르기를 여호와의 말씀에 너희가 내 말을 들으며 교훈을 받지 아니하겠느냐
  "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, 'Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?' declares the LORD.

14. 레갑의 아들 요나답이 그 자손에게 포도주를 마시지 말라 한 그 명령은 실행되도다 그들은 그 선조의 명령을 순종하여 오늘까지 마시지 아니하거늘 내가 너희에게 말하고 부지런히 말하여도 너희는 나를 듣지 아니하도다
  'Jonadab son of Recab ordered his sons not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather's command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.

15. 나도 내 종 모든 선지자를 너희에게 보내고 부지런히 보내며 이르기를 너희는 이제 각기 악한 길에서 돌이켜 행위를 고치고 다른 신을 좇아 그를 섬기지 말라 그리하면 너희가 나의 너희와 너희 선조에게 준 이 땅에 거하리라 하여도 너희가 귀를 기울이지 아니하며 나를 듣지 아니하였느니라
  Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said, "Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your fathers." But you have not paid attention or listened to me.

16. 레갑의 아들 요나답의 자손은 그 선조가 그들에게 명한 그 명령을 준행하나 이 백성은 나를 듣지 아니하도다
  The descendants of Jonadab son of Recab have carried out the command their forefather gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.'

17. 그러므로 나 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라 보라 내가 유다와 예루살렘 모든 거민에게 나의 그들에게 대하여 선포한 모든 재앙을 내리리니 이는 내가 그들에게 말하여도 듣지 아니하며 불러도 대답지 아니함이니라 하셨다 하라
  "Therefore, this is what the LORD God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Listen! I am going to bring on Judah and on everyone living in Jerusalem every disaster I pronounced against them. I spoke to them, but they did not listen; I called to them, but they did not answer.'"

18. 예레미야가 레갑 족속에게 이르되 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 너희 선조 요나답의 명령을 준종하여 그 모든 훈계를 지키며 그가 너희에게 명한 것을 행하였도다
  Then Jeremiah said to the family of the Recabites, "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'You have obeyed the command of your forefather Jonadab and have followed all his instructions and have done everything he ordered.'

19. 그러므로 나 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라 레갑의 아들 요나답에게서 내 앞에 설 사람이 영영히 끊어지지 아니하리라
  Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Jonadab son of Recab will never fail to have a man to serve me.'"

시편 7-8

1. 여호와 내 하나님이여 주께 피하오니 나를 쫓는 모든 자에게서 나를 구하여 건지소서
  A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,

2. 건져낼 자 없으면 저희가 사자같이 나를 찢고 뜯을까 하나이다
  or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

3. 여호와 내 하나님이여 내가 이것을 행하였거나 내 손에 죄악이 있거나
  O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands--

4. 화친한 자를 악으로 갚았거나 내 대적에게 무고히 빼앗았거든
  if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe--

5. 원수로 나의 영혼을 쫓아 잡아 내 생명을 땅에 짓밟고 내 영광을 진토에 떨어뜨리게 하소서 (셀라)
  then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. Selah

6. 여호와여 진노로 일어나사 내 대적들의 노를 막으시며 나를 위하여 깨소서 주께서 심판을 명하셨나이다
  Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice.

7. 민족들의 집회로 주를 두르게 하시고 그 위 높은 자리에 돌아오소서
  Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high;

8. 여호와께서 만민에게 심판을 행하시오니 여호와여 나의 의와 내게 있는 성실함을 따라 나를 판단하소서
  let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High.

9. 악인의 악을 끊고 의인을 세우소서 의로우신 하나님이 사람의 심장을 감찰하시나이다
  O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.

10. 나의 방패는 마음이 정직한 자를 구원하시는 하나님께 있도다
  My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.

11. 하나님은 의로우신 재판장이심이여 매일 분노하시는 하나님이시로다
  God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.

12. 사람이 회개치 아니하면 저가 그 칼을 갈으심이여 그 활을 이미 당기어 예비하셨도다
  If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.

13. 죽일 기계를 또한 예비하심이여 그 만든 살은 화전이로다
  He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows.

14. 악인이 죄악을 해산함이여 잔해를 잉태하여 궤휼을 낳았도다
  He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment.

15. 저가 웅덩이를 파 만듦이여 제가 만든 함정에 빠졌도다
  He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made.

16. 그 잔해는 자기 머리로 돌아오고 그 포학은 자기 정수리에 내리리로다

17. 내가 여호와의 의를 따라 감사함이여 지극히 높으신 여호와의 이름을 찬양하리로다

2. 주의 대적을 인하여 어린아이와 젖먹이의 입으로 말미암아 권능을 세우심이여 이는 원수와 보수자로 잠잠케 하려 하심이니이다
  From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

3. 주의 손가락으로 만드신 주의 하늘과 주의 베풀어 두신 달과 별들을 내가 보오니
  When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

4. 사람이 무엇이관대 주께서 저를 생각하시며 인자가 무엇이관대 주께서 저를 권고하시나이까
  what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?

5. 저를 천사보다 조금 못하게 하시고 영화와 존귀로 관을 씌우셨나이다
  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.

6. 주의 손으로 만드신 것을 다스리게 하시고 만물을 그 발 아래 두셨으니
  You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:

7. 곧 모든 우양과 들짐승이며
  all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,

8. 공중의 새와 바다의 어족과 해로에 다니는 것이니이다
  the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

9. 여호와 우리 주여 주의 이름이 온 땅에 어찌 그리 아름다운지요
  O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
