출애굽기 32

1. 백성이 모세가 산에서 내려옴이 더딤을 보고 모여 아론에게 이르러 가로되 일어나라 우리를 인도할 신을 우리를 위하여 만들라 이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알지 못함이니라
  When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."

2. 아론이 그들에게 이르되 너희 아내와 자녀의 귀의 금고리를 빼어 내게로 가져오라
  Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."

3. 모든 백성이 그 귀에서 금고리를 빼어 아론에게로 가져오매
  So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.

4. 아론이 그들의 손에서 그 고리를 받아 부어서 각도로 새겨 송아지 형상을 만드니 그들이 말하되 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희 신이로다 하는지라
  He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."

5. 아론이 보고 그 앞에 단을 쌓고 이에 공포하여 가로되 내일은 여호와의 절일이니라 하니
  When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."

6. 이튿날에 그들이 일찌기 일어나 번제를 드리며 화목제를 드리고 앉아서 먹고 마시며 일어나서 뛰놀더라
  So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.

7. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 내려가라 네가 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 네 백성이 부패하였도다
  Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt.

8. 그들이 내가 그들에게 명한 길을 속히 떠나 자기를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들고 그것을 숭배하며 그것에게 희생을 드리며 말하기를 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희 신이라 하였도다
  They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'

9. 여호와께서 또 모세에게 이르시되 내가 이 백성을 보니 목이 곧은 백성이로다
  "I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people.

10. 그런즉 나대로 하게 하라 내가 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 진멸하고 너로 큰 나라가 되게 하리라
  Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation."

11. 모세가 그 하나님 여호와께 구하여 가로되 여호와여 어찌하여 그 큰 권능과 강한 손으로 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내신 주의 백성에게 진노하시나이까
  But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

12. 어찌하여 애굽 사람으로 이르기를 여호와가 화를 내려 그 백성을 산에서 죽이고 지면에서 진멸하려고 인도하여 내었다 하게 하려 하시나이까 주의 맹렬한 노를 그치시고 뜻을 돌이키사 주의 백성에게 이 화를 내리지 마옵소서
  Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.

13. 주의 종 아브라함과 이삭과 이스라엘을 기억하소서 주께서 주를 가리켜 그들에게 맹세하여 이르시기를 내가 너희 자손을 하늘의 별처럼 많게 하고 나의 허락한 이 온 땅을 너희의 자손에게 주어 영영한 기업이 되게 하리라 하셨나이다
  Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.'"

14. 여호와께서 뜻을 돌이키사 말씀하신 화를 그 백성에게 내리지 아니하시니라
  Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

15. 모세가 돌이켜 산에서 내려오는데 증거의 두 판이 그 손에 있고 그 판의 양면 이편 저편에 글자가 있으니
  Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.

16. 그 판은 하나님이 만드신 것이요 글자는 하나님이 쓰셔서 판에 새기신 것이더라
  The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

17. 여호수아가 백성의 떠듦을 듣고 모세에게 말하되 진중에서 싸우는 소리가 나나이다
  When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, "There is the sound of war in the camp."

18. 모세가 가로되 이는 승전가도 아니요 패하여 부르짖는 소리도 아니라 나의 듣기에는 노래하는 소리로다 하고
  Moses replied: "It is not the sound of victory, it is not the sound of defeat; it is the sound of singing that I hear."

19. 진에 가까이 이르러 송아지와 그 춤추는 것을 보고 대노하여 손에서 그 판들을 산 아래로 던져 깨뜨리니라
  When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

20. 모세가 그들의 만든 송아지를 가져 불살라 부수어 가루를 만들어 물에 뿌려 이스라엘 자손에게 마시우니라
  And he took the calf they had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.

21. 모세가 아론에게 이르되 이 백성이 네게 어떻게 하였기에 네가 그들로 중죄에 빠지게 하였느뇨
  He said to Aaron, "What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?"

22. 아론이 가로되 내 주여 노하지 마소서 이 백성의 악함을 당신이 아나이다
  "Do not be angry, my lord," Aaron answered. "You know how prone these people are to evil.

23. 그들이 내게 말하기를 우리를 위하여 우리를 인도할 신을 만들라 이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알 수 없노라 하기에
  They said to me, 'Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.'

24. 내가 그들에게 이르기를 금이 있는 자는 빼어 내라 한즉 그들이 그것을 내게로 가져왔기로 내가 불에 던졌더니 이 송아지가 나왔나이다
  So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"

25. 모세가 본즉 백성이 방자하니 이는 아론이 그들로 방자하게 하여 원수에게 조롱거리가 되게 하였음이라
  Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies.

26. 이에 모세가 진문에 서서 가로되 누구든지 여호와의 편에 있는 자는 내게로 나아오라 하매 레위 자손이 다 모여 그에게로 오는지라
  So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.

27. 모세가 그들에게 이르되 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희는 각각 허리에 칼을 차고 진 이 문에서 저 문까지 왕래하며 각 사람이 그 형제를, 각 사람이 그 친구를, 각 사람이 그 이웃을 도륙하라 하셨느니라
  Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.'"

28. 레위 자손이 모세의 말대로 행하매 이 날에 백성 중에 삼천 명 가량이 죽인 바 된지라
  The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died.

29. 모세가 이르되 각 사람이 그 아들과 그 형제를 쳤으니 오늘날 여호와께 헌신하게 되었느니라 그가 오늘날 너희에게 복을 내리시리라
  Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."

30. 이튿날 모세가 백성에게 이르되 너희가 큰 죄를 범하였도다 내가 이제 여호와께로 올라가노니 혹 너희의 죄를 속할까 하노라 하고
  The next day Moses said to the people, "You have committed a great sin. But now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin."

31. 여호와께로 다시 나아가 여짜오되 슬프도소이다 이 백성이 자기들을 위하여 금신을 만들었사오니 큰 죄를 범하였나이다
  So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

32. 그러나 합의하시면 이제 그들의 죄를 사하시옵소서 그렇지 않사오면 원컨대 주의 기록하신 책에서 내 이름을 지워 버려 주옵소서
  But now, please forgive their sin--but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written."

33. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 누구든지 내게 범죄하면 그는 내가 내 책에서 지워 버리리라
  The LORD replied to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.

34. 이제 가서 내가 네게 말한 곳으로 백성을 인도하라 내 사자가 네 앞서 가리라 그러나 내가 보응할 날에는 그들의 죄를 보응하리라
  Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin."

35. 여호와께서 백성을 치시니 이는 그들이 아론의 만든 바 그 송아지를 만들었음이더라
  And the LORD struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf Aaron had made.

요한복음 11

1. 어떤 병든 자가 있으니 이는 마리아와 그 형제 마르다의 촌 베다니에 사는 나사로라
  Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

2. 이 마리아는 향유를 주께 붓고 머리털로 주의 발을 씻기던 자요 병든 나사로는 그의 오라비러라
  This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.

3. 이에 그 누이들이 예수께 사람을 보내어 가로되 주여 보시옵소서 사랑하시는 자가 병들었나이다 하니
  So the sisters sent word to Jesus, "Lord, the one you love is sick."

4. 예수께서 들으시고 가라사대 이 병은 죽을 병이 아니라 하나님의 영광을 위함이요 하나님의 아들로 이를 인하여 영광을 얻게 하려 함이라 하시더라
  When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."

5. 예수께서 본래 마르다와 그 동생과 나사로를 사랑하시더니
  Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

6. 나사로가 병들었다 함을 들으시고 그 계시던 곳에 이틀을 더 유하시고
  Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.

7. 그 후에 제자들에게 이르시되 유대로 다시 가자 하시니
  Then he said to his disciples, "Let us go back to Judea."

8. 제자들이 말하되 랍비여 방금도 유대인들이 돌로 치려 하였는데 또 그리로 가시려 하나이까
  "But Rabbi," they said, "a short while ago the Jews tried to stone you, and yet you are going back there?"

9. 예수께서 대답하시되 낮이 열두 시가 아니냐 사람이 낮에 다니면 이 세상의 빛을 보므로 실족하지 아니하고
  Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world's light.

10. 밤에 다니면 빛이 그 사람 안에 없는 고로 실족하느니라
  It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light."

11. 이 말씀을 하신 후에 또 가라사대 우리 친구 나사로가 잠들었도다 그러나 내가 깨우러 가노라
  After he had said this, he went on to tell them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up."

12. 제자들이 가로되 주여 잠들었으면 낫겠나이다 하더라
  His disciples replied, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better."

13. 예수는 그의 죽음을 가리켜 말씀하신 것이나 저희는 잠들어 쉬는 것을 가리켜 말씀하심인 줄 생각하는지라
  Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.

14. 이에 예수께서 밝히 이르시되 나사로가 죽었느니라
  So then he told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,

15. 내가 거기 있지 아니한 것을 너희를 위하여 기뻐하노니 이는 너희로 믿게 하려 함이라 그러나 그에게로 가자 하신대
  and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him."

16. 디두모라 하는 도마가 다른 제자들에게 말하되 우리도 주와 함께 죽으러 가자 하니라
  Then Thomas (called Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with him."

17. 예수께서 와서 보시니 나사로가 무덤에 있은 지 이미 나흘이라
  On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.

18. 베다니는 예루살렘에서 가깝기가 한 오 리쯤 되매
  Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem,

19. 많은 유대인이 마르다와 마리아에게 그 오라비의 일로 위문하러 왔더니
  and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother.

20. 마르다는 예수 오신다는 말을 듣고 곧 나가 맞되 마리아는 집에 앉았더라
  When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.

21. 마르다가 예수께 여짜오되 주께서 여기 계셨더면 내 오라비가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다
  "Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

22. 그러나 나는 이제라도 주께서 무엇이든지 하나님께 구하시는 것을 하나님이 주실 줄을 아나이다
  But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask."

23. 예수께서 가라사대 네 오라비가 다시 살리라
  Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."

24. 마르다가 가로되 마지막 날 부활에는 다시 살 줄을 내가 아나이다
  Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

25. 예수께서 가라사대 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고
  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;

26. 무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐
  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

27. 가로되 주여 그러하외다 주는 그리스도시요 세상에 오시는 하나님의 아들이신 줄 내가 믿나이다
  "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."

28. 이 말을 하고 돌아가서 가만히 그 형제 마리아를 불러 말하되 선생님이 오셔서 너를 부르신다 하니
  And after she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. "The Teacher is here," she said, "and is asking for you."

29. 마리아가 이 말을 듣고 급히 일어나 예수께 나아가매
  When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him.

30. 예수는 아직 마을로 들어오지 아니하시고 마르다의 맞던 곳에 그저 계시더라
  Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him.

31. 마리아와 함께 집에 있어 위로하던 유대인들은 그의 급히 일어나 나가는 것을 보고 곡하러 무덤에 가는 줄로 생각하고 따라가더니
  When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.

32. 마리아가 예수 계신 곳에 와서 보이고 그 발 앞에 엎드리어 가로되 주께서 여기 계셨더면 내 오라비가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다 하더라
  When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."

33. 예수께서 그의 우는 것과 또 함께 온 유대인들의 우는 것을 보시고 심령에 통분히 여기시고 민망히 여기사
  When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

34. 가라사대 그를 어디 두었느냐 가로되 주여 와서 보옵소서 하니
  "Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied.

35. 예수께서 눈물을 흘리시더라
  Jesus wept.

36. 이에 유대인들이 말하되 보라 그를 어떻게 사랑하였는가 하며
  Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"

37. 그 중 어떤 이는 말하되 소경의 눈을 뜨게 한 이 사람이 그 사람은 죽지 않게 할 수 없었더냐 하더라
  But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?"

38. 이에 예수께서 다시 속으로 통분히 여기시며 무덤에 가시니 무덤이 굴이라 돌로 막았거늘
  Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.

39. 예수께서 가라사대 돌을 옮겨 놓으라 하시니 그 죽은 자의 누이 마르다가 가로되 주여 죽은 지가 나흘이 되었으매 벌써 냄새가 나나이다
  "Take away the stone," he said. "But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days."

40. 예수께서 가라사대 내 말이 네가 믿으면 하나님의 영광을 보리라 하지 아니하였느냐 하신대
  Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

41. 돌을 옮겨 놓으니 예수께서 눈을 들어 우러러 보시고 가라사대 아버지여 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다
  So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me.

42. 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 내가 알았나이다 그러나 이 말씀하옵는 것은 둘러선 무리를 위함이니 곧 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 저희로 믿게 하려 함이니이다
  I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."

43. 이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니
  When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!"

44. 죽은 자가 수족을 베로 동인 채로 나오는데 그 얼굴은 수건에 싸였더라 예수께서 가라사대 풀어 놓아 다니게 하라 하시니라
  The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."

45. 마리아에게 와서 예수의 하신 일을 본 많은 유대인이 저를 믿었으나
  Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him.

46. 그 중에 어떤 자는 바리새인들에게 가서 예수의 하신 일을 고하니라
  But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.

47. 이에 대제사장들과 바리새인들이 공회를 모으고 가로되 이 사람이 많은 표적을 행하니 우리가 어떻게 하겠느냐
  Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin. "What are we accomplishing?" they asked. "Here is this man performing many miraculous signs.

48. 만일 저를 이대로 두면 모든 사람이 저를 믿을 것이요 그리고 로마인들이 와서 우리 땅과 민족을 빼앗아 가리라 하니
  If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."

49. 그 중에 한 사람 그 해 대제사장인 가야바가 저희에게 말하되 너희가 아무것도 알지 못하는도다
  Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, "You know nothing at all!

50. 한 사람이 백성을 위하여 죽어서 온 민족이 망하지 않게 되는 것이 너희에게 유익한 줄을 생각지 아니하는도다 하였으니
  You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish."

51. 이 말은 스스로 함이 아니요 그 해에 대제사장이므로 예수께서 그 민족을 위하시고
  He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,

52. 또 그 민족만 위할 뿐 아니라 흩어진 하나님의 자녀를 모아 하나가 되게 하기 위하여 죽으실 것을 미리 말함이러라
  and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.

53. 이 날부터는 저희가 예수를 죽이려고 모의하니라
  So from that day on they plotted to take his life.

54. 그러므로 예수께서 다시 유대인 가운데 드러나게 다니지 아니하시고 여기를 떠나 빈 들 가까운 곳인 에브라임이라는 동네에 가서 제자들과 함께 거기 유하시니라
  Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the Jews. Instead he withdrew to a region near the desert, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.

55. 유대인의 유월절이 가까우매 많은 사람이 자기를 성결케 하기 위하여 유월절 전에 시골서 예루살렘으로 올라갔더니
  When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover.

56. 저희가 예수를 찾으며 성전에 서서 서로 말하되 너희 생각에는 어떠하뇨 저가 명절에 오지 아니하겠느냐 하니
  They kept looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple area they asked one another, "What do you think? Isn't he coming to the Feast at all?"

57. 이는 대제사장들과 바리새인들이 누구든지 예수 있는 곳을 알거든 고하여 잡게 하라 명령하였음이러라
  But the chief priests and Pharisees had given orders that if anyone found out where Jesus was, he should report it so that they might arrest him.

잠언 8

1. 지혜가 부르지 아니하느냐 명철이 소리를 높이지 아니하느냐
  Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

2. 그가 길가의 높은 곳과 사거리에 서며
  On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;

3. 성문 곁과 문 어귀와 여러 출입하는 문에서 불러 가로되
  beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:

4. 사람들아 내가 너희를 부르며 내가 인자들에게 소리를 높이노라
  "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.

5. 어리석은 자들아 너희는 명철할찌니라 미련한 자들아 너희는 마음이 밝을찌니라 너희는 들을찌어다
  You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.

6. 내가 가장 선한 것을 말하리라 내 입술을 열어 정직을 내리라
  Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.

7. 내 입은 진리를 말하며 내 입술은 악을 미워하느니라
  My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.

8. 내 입의 말은 다 의로운즉 그 가운데 굽은 것과 패역한 것이 없나니
  All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.

9. 이는 다 총명 있는 자의 밝히 아는 바요 지식 얻은 자의 정직히 여기는 바니라
  To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.

10. 너희가 은을 받지 말고 나의 훈계를 받으며 정금보다 지식을 얻으라
  Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,

11. 대저 지혜는 진주보다 나으므로 무릇 원하는 것을 이에 비교할 수 없음이니라
  for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

12. 나 지혜는 명철로 주소를 삼으며 지식과 근신을 찾아 얻나니
  "I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.

13. 여호와를 경외하는 것은 악을 미워하는 것이라 나는 교만과 거만과 악한 행실과 패역한 입을 미워하느니라
  To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

14. 내게는 도략과 참 지식이 있으며 나는 명철이라 내게 능력이 있으므로
  Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.

15. 나로 말미암아 왕들이 치리하며 방백들이 공의를 세우며
  By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;

16. 나로 말미암아 재상과 존귀한 자 곧 세상의 모든 재판관들이 다스리느니라
  by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.

17. 나를 사랑하는 자들이 나의 사랑을 입으며 나를 간절히 찾는 자가 나를 만날 것이니라
  I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

18. 부귀가 내게 있고 장구한 재물과 의도 그러하니라
  With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.

19. 내 열매는 금이나 정금보다 나으며 내 소득은 천은보다 나으니라
  My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.

20. 나는 의로운 길로 행하며 공평한 길 가운데로 다니나니
  I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,

21. 이는 나를 사랑하는 자로 재물을 얻어서 그 곳간에 채우게 하려 함이니라
  bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

22. 여호와께서 그 조화의 시작 곧 태초에 일하시기 전에 나를 가지셨으며
  "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

23. 만세전부터, 상고부터, 땅이 생기기 전부터 내가 세움을 입었나니
  I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.

24. 아직 바다가 생기지 아니하였고 큰 샘들이 있기 전에 내가 이미 났으며
  When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;

25. 산이 세우심을 입기 전에, 언덕이 생기기 전에 내가 이미 났으니
  before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,

26. 하나님이 아직 땅도, 들도, 세상 진토의 근원도 짓지 아니하셨을 때에라
  before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.

27. 그가 하늘을 지으시며 궁창으로 해면에 두르실 때에 내가 거기 있었고
  I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,

28. 그가 위로 구름 하늘을 견고하게 하시며 바다의 샘들을 힘있게 하시며
  when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,

29. 바다의 한계를 정하여 물로 명령을 거스리지 못하게 하시며 또 땅의 기초를 정하실 때에
  when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

30. 내가 그 곁에 있어서 창조자가 되어 날마다 그 기뻐하신 바가 되었으며 항상 그 앞에서 즐거워하였으며
  Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,

31. 사람이 거처할 땅에서 즐거워하며 인자들을 기뻐하였었느니라
  rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.

32. 아들들아 이제 내게 들으라 내 도를 지키는 자가 복이 있느니라
  "Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.

33. 훈계를 들어서 지혜를 얻으라 그것을 버리지 말라
  Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.

34. 누구든지 내게 들으며 날마다 내 문 곁에서 기다리며 문설주 옆에서 기다리는 자는 복이 있나니
  Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

35. 대저 나를 얻는 자는 생명을 얻고 여호와께 은총을 얻을 것임이니라
  For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.

36. 그러나 나를 잃는 자는 자기의 영혼을 해하는 자라 무릇 나를 미워하는 자는 사망을 사랑하느니라
  But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."

에베소서 1

1. 하나님의 뜻으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수의 사도 된 바울은 에베소에 있는 성도들과 그리스도 예수 안의 신실한 자들에게 편지하노니
  Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:

2. 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로 좇아 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있을찌어다
  Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3. 찬송하리로다 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께서 그리스도 안에서 하늘에 속한 모든 신령한 복으로 우리에게 복 주시되
  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

4. 곧 창세 전에 그리스도 안에서 우리를 택하사 우리로 사랑 안에서 그 앞에 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하시려고
  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

5. 그 기쁘신 뜻대로 우리를 예정하사 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 자기의 아들들이 되게 하셨으니
  he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--

6. 이는 그의 사랑하시는 자 안에서 우리에게 거저 주시는 바 그의 은혜의 영광을 찬미하게 하려는 것이라
  to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

7. 우리가 그리스도 안에서 그의 은혜의 풍성함을 따라 그의 피로 말미암아 구속 곧 죄 사함을 받았으니
  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

8. 이는 그가 모든 지혜와 총명으로 우리에게 넘치게 하사
  that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

9. 그 뜻의 비밀을 우리에게 알리셨으니 곧 그 기쁘심을 따라 그리스도 안에서 때가 찬 경륜을 위하여 예정하신 것이니
  And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,

10. 하늘에 있는 것이나 땅에 있는 것이 다 그리스도 안에서 통일되게 하려 하심이라
  to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

11. 모든 일을 그 마음의 원대로 역사하시는 자의 뜻을 따라 우리가 예정을 입어 그 안에서 기업이 되었으니
  In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

12. 이는 그리스도 안에서 전부터 바라던 우리로 그의 영광의 찬송이 되게 하려 하심이라
  in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

13. 그 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀 곧 너희의 구원의 복음을 듣고 그 안에서 또한 믿어 약속의 성령으로 인치심을 받았으니
  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

14. 이는 우리의 기업에 보증이 되사 그 얻으신 것을 구속하시고 그의 영광을 찬미하게 하려 하심이라
  who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

15. 이를 인하여 주 예수 안에서 너희 믿음과 모든 성도를 향한 사랑을 나도 듣고
  For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

16. 너희를 인하여 감사하기를 마지 아니하고 내가 기도할 때에 너희를 말하노라
  I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

17. 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 영광의 아버지께서 지혜와 계시의 정신을 너희에게 주사 하나님을 알게 하시고
  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

18. 너희 마음 눈을 밝히사 그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 안에서 그 기업의 영광의 풍성이 무엇이며
  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

19. 그의 힘의 강력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떤 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라
  and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,

20. 그 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사
  which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

21. 모든 정사와 권세와 능력과 주관하는 자와 이 세상뿐 아니라 오는 세상에 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나게 하시고
  far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

22. 또 만물을 그 발 아래 복종하게 하시고 그를 만물 위에 교회의 머리로 주셨느니라
  And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,

23. 교회는 그의 몸이니 만물 안에서 만물을 충만케 하시는 자의 충만이니라
  which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
