역대하 18

1. 여호사밧이 부귀와 영광이 극하였고 아합으로 더불어 연혼하였더라
  Now Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honor, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.

2. 두어 해 후에 저가 사마리아에 내려가서 아합에게 나아갔더니 아합이 저와 종자를 위하여 우양을 많이 잡고 함께 가서 길르앗 라못 치기를 권하더라
  Some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him and urged him to attack Ramoth Gilead.

3. 이스라엘 왕 아합이 유다 왕 여호사밧에게 이르되 당신은 나와 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가시겠느뇨 대답하되 나는 당신과 일반이요 내 백성은 당신의 백성과 일반이니 당신과 함께 싸우리이다
  Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat replied, "I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will join you in the war."

4. 여호사밧이 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 청컨대 먼저 여호와의 말씀이 어떠하신지 물어 보소서
  But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "First seek the counsel of the LORD."

5. 이스라엘 왕이 이에 선지자 사백 인을 모으고 저희에게 이르되 우리가 길르앗 라못에 가서 싸우랴 말랴 저희가 가로되 올라가소서 하나님이 그 성을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다
  So the king of Israel brought together the prophets--four hundred men--and asked them, "Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go," they answered, "for God will give it into the king's hand."

6. 여호사밧이 가로되 이 외에 우리가 물을 만한 여호와의 선지자가 여기 있지 아니하니이까
  But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there not a prophet of the LORD here whom we can inquire of?"

7. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 오히려 이믈라의 아들 미가야 한 사람이 있으니 저로 말미암아 여호와께 물을 수 있으나 저는 내게 대하여 길한 일은 예언하지 아니하고 항상 흉한 일만 예언하기로 내가 저를 미워하나이다 여호사밧이 가로되 왕은 그런 말씀을 마소서
  The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king should not say that," Jehoshaphat replied.

8. 이스라엘 왕이 한 내시를 불러 이르되 이믈라의 아들 미가야로 속히 오게 하라 하니라
  So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, "Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once."

9. 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 왕복을 입고 사마리아 성문 어귀 광장에서 각기 보좌에 앉았고 모든 선지자가 그 앞에서 예언을 하는데
  Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance to the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

10. 그나아나의 아들 시드기야는 철로 뿔들을 만들어 가지고 말하되 여호와의 말씀이 왕이 이것들로 아람 사람을 찔러 진멸하리라 하셨다 하고
  Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns, and he declared, "This is what the LORD says: 'With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.'"

11. 모든 선지자도 그와 같이 예언하여 이르기를 길르앗 라못으로 올라가서 승리를 얻으소서 여호와께서 그 성을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다 하더라
  All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. "Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious," they said, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."

12. 미가야를 부르러 간 사자가 일러 가로되 선지자들의 말이 여출일구하여 왕에게 길하게 하니 청컨대 당신의 말도 저희 중 한 사람처럼 길하게 하소서
  The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, "Look, as one man the other prophets are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably."

13. 미가야가 가로되 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 내 하나님의 말씀하시는 것 곧 그것을 내가 말하리라 하고
  But Micaiah said, "As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what my God says."

14. 이에 왕에게 이르니 왕이 저에게 이르되 미가야야 우리가 길르앗 라못으로 싸우러 가랴 말랴 가로되 올라가서 승리를 얻으소서 저희가 왕의 손에 붙인 바 되리이다
  When he arrived, the king asked him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Attack and be victorious," he answered, "for they will be given into your hand."

15. 왕이 저에게 이르되 여호와의 이름으로 진실한 것만 말하라고 내가 몇 번이나 너로 맹세케 하여야 하겠느냐
  The king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

16. 저가 가로되 내가 보니 온 이스라엘이 목자 없는 양같이 산에 흩어졌는데 여호와의 말씀이 이 무리가 주인이 없으니 각각 평안히 그 집으로 돌아갈 것이니라 하셨나이다
  Then Micaiah answered, "I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD said, 'These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.'"

17. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 저 사람이 내게 대하여 길한 것을 예언하지 아니하고 흉한 것만 예언하겠다고 당신에게 말씀하지 아니하였나이까
  The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?"

18. 미가야가 가로되 그런즉 왕은 여호와의 말씀을 들으소서 내가 보니 여호와께서 그 보좌에 앉으셨고 하늘의 만군이 그 좌우편에 모시고 섰는데
  Micaiah continued, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing on his right and on his left.

19. 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 누가 이스라엘 왕 아합을 꾀어 저로 길르앗 라못에 올라가서 죽게 할꼬 하시니 하나는 이렇게 하겠다 하고 하나는 저렇게 하겠다 하였는데
  And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that.

20. 한 영이 나아와 여호와 앞에 서서 말하되 내가 저를 꾀이겠나이다 여호와께서 저에게 이르시되 어떻게 하겠느냐
  Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' "'By what means?' the LORD asked.

21. 가로되 내가 나가서 거짓말하는 영이 되어 그 모든 선지자의 입에 있겠나이다 여호와께서 가라사대 너는 꾀이겠고 또 이루리라 나가서 그리하라 하셨은즉
  "'I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. "'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'

22. 이제 여호와께서 거짓말하는 영을 왕의 이 모든 선지자의 입에 넣으셨고 또 여호와께서 왕에게 대하여 화를 말씀하셨나이다
  "So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."

23. 그나아나의 아들 시드기야가 가까이 와서 미가야의 뺨을 치며 이르되 여호와의 영이 나를 떠나 어디로 말미암아 가서 네게 말씀하더냐
  Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go when he went from me to speak to you?" he asked.

24. 미가야가 가로되 네가 골방에 들어가서 숨는 그 날에 보리라
  Micaiah replied, "You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room."

25. 이스라엘 왕이 가로되 미가야를 잡아 부윤 아몬과 왕자 요아스에게로 끌고 돌아가서
  The king of Israel then ordered, "Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king's son,

26. 말하기를 왕의 말씀이 이 놈을 옥에 가두고 내가 평안히 돌아올 때까지 고생의 떡과 고생의 물로 먹이라 하라
  and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.'"

27. 미가야가 가로되 왕이 참으로 평안히 돌아오시게 될찐대 여호와께서 나로 말씀하지 아니하셨으리이다 또 가로되 너희 백성들아다 들을찌어다 하니라
  Micaiah declared, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he added, "Mark my words, all you people!"

28. 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 길르앗 라못으로 올라가니라
  So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

29. 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 나는 변장하고 군중으로 들어가려 하노니 당신은 왕복을 입으소서 하고 이스라엘 왕이 변장하고 둘이 군중으로 들어가니라
  The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

30. 아람 왕이 그 병거 장관들에게 이미 명하여 이르기를 너희는 작은 자나 큰 자나 더불어 싸우지 말고 오직 이스라엘 왕과 싸우라 한지라
  Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, "Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel."

31. 병거의 장관들이 여호사밧을 보고 이르되 이가 이스라엘 왕이라 하고 돌이켜 저와 싸우려 한즉 여호사밧이 소리를 지르매 여호와께서 저를 도우시며 하나님이 저희를 감동시키사 저를 떠나가게 하신지라
  When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "This is the king of Israel." So they turned to attack him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him,

32. 병거의 장관들이 저가 이스라엘 왕이 아님을 보고 쫓기를 그치고 돌이켰더라
  for when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they stopped pursuing him.

33. 한 사람이 우연히 활을 당기어 이스라엘 왕의 갑옷 솔기를 쏜지라 왕이 그 병거 모는 자에게 이르되 내가 부상하였으니 네 손을 돌이켜 나로 군중에서 나가게 하라 하였으나
  But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor. The king told the chariot driver, "Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I've been wounded."

34. 이 날의 전쟁이 맹렬하였으므로 이스라엘 왕이 병거에서 스스로 부지하며 저녁때까지 아람 사람을 막다가 해가 질 즈음에 죽었더라
  All day long the battle raged, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. Then at sunset he died.

요한계시록 7

1. 이 일 후에 내가 네 천사가 땅 네 모퉁이에 선 것을 보니 땅의 사방의 바람을 붙잡아 바람으로 하여금 땅에나 바다에나 각종 나무에 불지 못하게 하더라
  After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

2. 또 보매 다른 천사가 살아 계신 하나님의 인을 가지고 해 돋는 데로부터 올라와서 땅과 바다를 해롭게 할 권세를 얻은 네 천사를 향하여 큰 소리로 외쳐
  Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:

3. 가로되 우리가 우리 하나님의 종들의 이마에 인치기까지 땅이나 바다나 나무나 해하지 말라 하더라
  "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

4. 내가 인 맞은 자의 수를 들으니 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파 중에서 인 맞은 자들이 십사만 사천이니
  Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

5. 유다 지파 중에 인 맞은 자가 일만 이천이요 르우벤 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 갓 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

6. 아셀 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 납달리 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 므낫세 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  from the tribe of Asher 12,000, from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000, from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

7. 시므온 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 레위 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 잇사갈 지파 중에 일만 이천이요
  from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

8. 스불론 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 요셉 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 베냐민 지파 중에 인 맞은 자가 일만 이천이라
  from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

9. 이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무라도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 흰 옷을 입고 손에 종려가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서
  After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

10. 큰 소리로 외쳐 가로되 구원하심이 보좌에 앉으신 우리 하나님과 어린 양에게 있도다 하니
  And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

11. 모든 천사가 보좌와 장로들과 네 생물의 주위에 섰다가 보좌 앞에 엎드려 얼굴을 대고 하나님께 경배하여
  All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

12. 가로되 아멘 찬송과 영광과 지혜와 감사와 존귀와 능력과 힘이 우리 하나님께 세세토록 있을찌로다 아멘 하더라
  saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

13. 장로 중에 하나가 응답하여 내게 이르되 이 흰 옷 입은 자들이 누구며 또 어디서 왔느뇨
  Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes--who are they, and where did they come from?"

14. 내가 가로되 내 주여 당신이 알리이다 하니 그가 나더러 이르되 이는 큰 환난에서 나오는 자들인데 어린 양의 피에 그 옷을 씻어 희게 하였느니라
  I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15. 그러므로 그들이 하나님의 보좌 앞에 있고 또 그의 성전에서 밤낮 하나님을 섬기매 보좌에 앉으신 이가 그들 위에 장막을 치시리니
  Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

16. 저희가 다시 주리지도 아니하며 목마르지도 아니하고 해나 아무 뜨거운 기운에 상하지 아니할찌니
  Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.

17. 이는 보좌 가운데 계신 어린 양이 저희의 목자가 되사 생명수 샘으로 인도하시고 하나님께서 저희 눈에서 모든 눈물을 씻어 주실 것임이러라
  For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

스가랴 3

1. 대제사장 여호수아는 여호와의 사자 앞에 섰고 사단은 그의 우편에 서서 그를 대적하는 것을 여호와께서 내게 보이시니라
  Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.

2. 여호와께서 사단에게 이르시되 사단아 여호와가 너를 책망하노라 예루살렘을 택한 여호와가 너를 책망하노라 이는 불에서 꺼낸 그슬린 나무가 아니냐 하실 때에
  The LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?"

3. 여호수아가 더러운 옷을 입고 천사 앞에 섰는지라
  Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.

4. 여호와께서 자기 앞에 선 자들에게 명하사 그 더러운 옷을 벗기라 하시고 또 여호수아에게 이르시되 내가 네 죄과를 제하여 버렸으니 네게 아름다운 옷을 입히리라 하시기로
  The angel said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes." Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."

5. 내가 말하되 정한 관을 그 머리에 씌우소서 하매 곧 정한 관을 그 머리에 씌우며 옷을 입히고 여호와의 사자는 곁에 섰더라
  Then I said, "Put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the LORD stood by.

6. 여호와의 사자가 여호수아에게 증거하여 가로되
  The angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua:

7. 만군의 여호와의 말씀에 네가 만일 내 도를 준행하며 내 율례를 지키면 네가 내 집을 다스릴 것이요 내 뜰을 지킬 것이며 내가 또 너로 여기 섰는 자들 중에 왕래케 하리라
  "This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.

8. 대제사장 여호수아야 너와 네 앞에 앉은 네 동료들은 내 말을 들을 것이니라 이들은 예표의 사람이라 내가 내 종 순을 나게 하리라
  "'Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.

9. 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 내가 너 여호수아 앞에 세운 돌을 보라 한 돌에 일곱 눈이 있느니라 내가 새길 것을 새기며 이 땅의 죄악을 하루에 제하리라
  See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.

10. 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 그 날에 너희가 각각 포도나무와 무화과나무 아래로 서로 초대하리라 하셨느니라
  "'In that day each of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and fig tree,' declares the LORD Almighty."

요한복음 6

1. 그 후에 예수께서 갈릴리 바다 곧 디베랴 바다 건너편으로 가시매
  Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias),

2. 큰 무리가 따르니 이는 병인들에게 행하시는 표적을 봄이러라
  and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick.

3. 예수께서 산에 오르사 제자들과 함께 거기 앉으시니
  Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples.

4. 마침 유대인의 명절인 유월절이 가까운지라
  The Jewish Passover Feast was near.

5. 예수께서 눈을 들어 큰 무리가 자기에게로 오는 것을 보시고 빌립에게 이르시되 우리가 어디서 떡을 사서 이 사람들로 먹게 하겠느냐 하시니
  When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?"

6. 이렇게 말씀하심은 친히 어떻게 하실 것을 아시고 빌립을 시험코자 하심이라
  He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

7. 빌립이 대답하되 각 사람으로 조금씩 받게 할찌라도 이백 데나리온의 떡이 부족하리이다
  Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"

8. 제자 중 하나 곧 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레가 예수께 여짜오되
  Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up,

9. 여기 한 아이가 있어 보리떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가졌나이다 그러나 그것이 이 많은 사람에게 얼마나 되겠삽나이까
  "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"

10. 예수께서 가라사대 이 사람들로 앉게 하라 하신대 그 곳에 잔디가 많은지라 사람들이 앉으니 수효가 오천쯤 되더라
  Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them.

11. 예수께서 떡을 가져 축사하신 후에 앉은 자들에게 나눠 주시고 고기도 그렇게 저희의 원대로 주시다
  Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12. 저희가 배부른 후에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 남은 조각을 거두고 버리는 것이 없게 하라 하시므로
  When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted."

13. 이에 거두니 보리떡 다섯 개로 먹고 남은 조각이 열두 바구니에 찼더라
  So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

14. 그 사람들이 예수의 행하신 이 표적을 보고 말하되 이는 참으로 세상에 오실 그 선지자라 하더라
  After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

15. 그러므로 예수께서 저희가 와서 자기를 억지로 잡아 임금 삼으려는 줄을 아시고 다시 혼자 산으로 떠나가시니라
  Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

16. 저물매 제자들이 바다에 내려가서
  When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake,

17. 배를 타고 바다를 건너 가버나움으로 가는데 이미 어두웠고 예수는 아직 저희에게 오시지 아니하셨더니
  where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them.

18. 큰 바람이 불어 파도가 일어나더라
  A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough.

19. 제자들이 노를 저어 십여 리쯤 가다가 예수께서 바다 위로 걸어 배에 가까이 오심을 보고 두려워하거늘
  When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified.

20. 가라사대 내니 두려워 말라 하신대
  But he said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid."

21. 이에 기뻐서 배로 영접하니 배는 곧 저희의 가려던 땅에 이르렀더라
  Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

22. 이튿날 바다 건너편에 섰는 무리가 배 한 척밖에 다른 배가 거기 없는 것과 또 어제 예수께서 제자들과 함께 그 배에 오르지 아니하시고 제자들만 가는 것을 보았더니
  The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone.

23. (그러나 디베랴에서 배들이 주의 축사하신 후 여럿이 떡 먹던 그 곳에 가까이 왔더라)
  Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

24. 무리가 거기 예수도 없으시고 제자들도 없음을 보고 곧 배들을 타고 예수를 찾으러 가버나움으로 가서
  Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.

25. 바다 건너편에서 만나 랍비여 어느 때에 여기 오셨나이까 하니
  When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"

26. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 나를 찾는 것은 표적을 본 까닭이 아니요 떡을 먹고 배부른 까닭이로다
  Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.

27. 썩는 양식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생하도록 있는 양식을 위하여 하라 이 양식은 인자가 너희에게 주리니 인자는 아버지 하나님의 인치신 자니라
  Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

28. 저희가 묻되 우리가 어떻게 하여야 하나님의 일을 하오리이까
  Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

29. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 하나님의 보내신 자를 믿는 것이 하나님의 일이니라 하시니
  Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

30. 저희가 묻되 그러면 우리로 보고 당신을 믿게 행하시는 표적이 무엇이니이까, 하시는 일이무엇이니이까
  So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

31. 기록된 바 하늘에서 저희에게 떡을 주어 먹게 하였다 함과 같이 우리 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었나이다
  Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"

32. 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 하늘에서 내린 떡은 모세가 준 것이 아니라 오직 내 아버지가 하늘에서 내린 참 떡을 너희에게 주시나니
  Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.

33. 하나님의 떡은 하늘에서 내려 세상에게 생명을 주는 것이니라
  For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

34. 저희가 가로되 주여 이 떡을 항상 우리에게 주소서
  "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."

35. 예수께서 가라사대 내가 곧 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라
  Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

36. 그러나 내가 너희더러 이르기를 너희는 나를 보고도 믿지 아니하는도다 하였느니라
  But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

37. 아버지께서 내게 주시는 자는 다 내게로 올 것이요 내게 오는 자는 내가 결코 내어쫓지 아니하리라
  All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

38. 내가 하늘로서 내려온 것은 내 뜻을 행하려 함이 아니요
  For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

39. 나를 보내신 이의 뜻을 행하려 함이니라 나를 보내신 이의 뜻은 내게 주신 자 중에 내가 하나도 잃어버리지 아니하고 마지막 날에 다시 살리는 이것이니라
  And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

40. 내 아버지의 뜻은 아들을 보고 믿는 자마다 영생을 얻는 이것이니 마지막 날에 내가 이를 다시 살리리라 하시니라
  For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

41. 자기가 하늘로서 내려온 떡이라 하시므로 유대인들이 예수께 대하여 수군거려
  At this the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."

42. 가로되 이는 요셉의 아들 예수가 아니냐 그 부모를 우리가 아는데 제가 지금 어찌하여 하늘로서 내려왔다 하느냐
  They said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?"

43. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 너희는 서로 수군거리지 말라
  "Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered.

44. 나를 보내신 아버지께서 이끌지 아니하면 아무라도 내게 올 수 없으니 오는 그를 내가 마지막 날에 다시 살리리라
  "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

45. 선지자의 글에 저희가 다 하나님의 가르치심을 받으리라 기록되었은즉 아버지께 듣고 배운 사람마다 내게로 오느니라
  It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.

46. 이는 아버지를 본 자가 있다는 것이 아니라 오직 하나님에게서 온 자만 아버지를 보았느니라
  No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

47. 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 믿는 자는 영생을 가졌나니
  I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.

48. 내가 곧 생명의 떡이로라
  I am the bread of life.

49. 너희 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었어도 죽었거니와
  Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.

50. 이는 하늘로서 내려오는 떡이니 사람으로 하여금 먹고 죽지 아니하게 하는 것이니라
  But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

51. 나는 하늘로서 내려온 산 떡이니 사람이 이 떡을 먹으면 영생하리라 나의 줄 떡은 곧 세상의 생명을 위한 내 살이로라 하시니라
  I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

52. 이러므로 유대인들이 서로 다투어 가로되 이 사람이 어찌 능히 제 살을 우리에게 주어 먹게 하겠느냐
  Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"

53. 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 인자의 살을 먹지 아니하고 인자의 피를 마시지 아니하면 너희 속에 생명이 없느니라
  Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

54. 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 자는 영생을 가졌고 마지막 날에 내가 그를 다시 살리리니
  Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

55. 내 살은 참된 양식이요 내 피는 참된 음료로다
  For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

56. 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 자는 내 안에 거하고 나도 그 안에 거하나니
  Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

57. 살아계신 아버지께서 나를 보내시매 내가 아버지로 인하여 사는 것 같이 나를 먹는 그 사람도 나로 인하여 살리라
  Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

58. 이것은 하늘로서 내려온 떡이니 조상들이 먹고도 죽은 그것과 같지 아니하여 이 떡을 먹는 자는 영원히 살리라
  This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever."

59. 이 말씀은 예수께서 가버나움 회당에서 가르치실 때에 하셨느니라
  He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

60. 제자 중 여럿이 듣고 말하되 이 말씀은 어렵도다 누가 들을 수 있느냐 한대
  On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"

61. 예수께서 스스로 제자들이 이 말씀에 대하여 수군거리는 줄 아시고 가라사대 이 말이 너희에게 걸림이 되느냐
  Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?

62. 그러면 너희가 인자의 이전 있던 곳으로 올라가는 것을 볼 것 같으면 어찌 하려느냐
  What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!

63. 살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말이 영이요 생명이라
  The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

64. 그러나 너희 중에 믿지 아니하는 자들이 있느니라 하시니 이는 예수께서 믿지 아니하는 자들이 누구며 자기를 팔 자가 누군지 처음부터 아심이러라
  Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

65. 또 가라사대 이러하므로 전에 너희에게 말하기를 내 아버지께서 오게 하여 주지 아니하시면 누구든지 내게 올 수 없다 하였노라 하시니라
  He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."

66. 이러므로 제자 중에 많이 물러가고 다시 그와 함께 다니지 아니하더라
  From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

67. 예수께서 열두 제자에게 이르시되 너희도 가려느냐
  "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.

68. 시몬 베드로가 대답하되 주여 영생의 말씀이 계시매 우리가 뉘게로 가오리이까
  Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

69. 우리가 주는 하나님의 거룩하신 자신 줄 믿고 알았삽나이다
  We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

70. 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 너희 열둘을 택하지 아니하였느냐 그러나 너희 중에 한 사람은 마귀니라 하시니
  Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!"

71. 이 말씀은 가룟 시몬의 아들 유다를 가리키심이라 저는 열둘 중의 하나로 예수를 팔 자러라
  (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
