역대상 21

1. 사단이 일어나 이스라엘을 대적하고 다윗을 격동하여 이스라엘을 계수하게 하니라
  Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.

2. 다윗이 요압과 백성의 두목에게 이르되 너희는 가서 브엘세바에서부터 단까지 이스라엘을 계수하고 돌아와서 내게 고하여 그 수효를 알게 하라
  So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, "Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are."

3. 요압이 가로되 여호와께서 그 백성을 지금보다 백 배나 더하시기를 원하나이다 내 주 왕이여 이 백성이 다 내 주의 종이 아니니이까 내 주께서 어찌하여 이 일을 명하시나이까 어찌하여 이스라엘로 죄가 있게 하시나이까 하나
  But Joab replied, "May the LORD multiply his troops a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all my lord's subjects? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?"

4. 왕의 명령이 요압을 재촉한지라 드디어 떠나서 이스라엘 땅에 두루 다닌 후에 예루살렘으로 돌아와서
  The king's word, however, overruled Joab; so Joab left and went throughout Israel and then came back to Jerusalem.

5. 백성의 수효를 다윗에게 고하니 이스라엘 중에 칼을 뺄 만한 자가 일백십만이요 유다 중에 칼을 뺄 만한 자가 사십칠만이라
  Joab reported the number of the fighting men to David: In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who could handle a sword, including four hundred and seventy thousand in Judah.

6. 요압이 왕의 명령을 밉게 여겨 레위와 베냐민 사람은 계수하지 아니하였더라
  But Joab did not include Levi and Benjamin in the numbering, because the king's command was repulsive to him.

7. 하나님이 이 일을 괘씸히 여기사 이스라엘을 치시매
  This command was also evil in the sight of God; so he punished Israel.

8. 다윗이 하나님께 아뢰되 내가 이 일을 행함으로 큰 죄를 범하였나이다 이제 간구하옵나니 종의 죄를 사하여 주옵소서 내가 심히 미련하게 행하였나이다 하니라
  Then David said to God, "I have sinned greatly by doing this. Now, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing."

9. 여호와께서 다윗의 선견자 갓에게 이르시되
  The LORD said to Gad, David's seer,

10. 가서 다윗에게 말하여 이르기를 여호와의 말씀이 내가 네게 세 가지를 보이노니 그 중에서 하나를 택하라 내가 그것을 네게 행하리라 하셨다 하라
  "Go and tell David, 'This is what the LORD says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.'"

11. 갓이 다윗에게 나아가 고하되 여호와의 말씀이 너는 마음대로 택하라
  So Gad went to David and said to him, "This is what the LORD says: 'Take your choice:

12. 혹 삼년 기근일찌, 혹 네가 석달을 대적에게 패하여 대적의 칼에 쫓길 일일찌, 혹 여호와의 칼 곧 온역이 사흘 동안 이 땅에 유행하며 여호와의 사자가 이스라엘 온 지경을 멸할 일일찌 하셨나니 내가 무슨 말로 나를 보내신 이에게 대답할 것을 결정하소서
  three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the LORD--days of plague in the land, with the angel of the LORD ravaging every part of Israel.' Now then, decide how I should answer the one who sent me."

13. 다윗이 갓에게 이르되 내가 곤경에 있도다 여호와께서는 긍휼이 심히 크시니 내가 그의 손에 빠지고 사람의 손에 빠지지 않기를 원하나이다
  David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men."

14. 이에 여호와께서 이스라엘 백성에게 온역을 내리시매 이스라엘 백성의 죽은 자가 칠만이었더라
  So the LORD sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead.

15. 하나님이 예루살렘을 멸하러 사자를 보내셨더니 사자가 멸하려 할 때에 여호와께서 보시고 이 재앙 내림을 뉘우치사 멸하는 사자에게 이르시되 족하다 이제는 네 손을 거두라 하시니 때에 여호와의 사자가 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당 곁에 선지라
  And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and was grieved because of the calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, "Enough! Withdraw your hand." The angel of the LORD was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

16. 다윗이 눈을 들어 보매 여호와의 사자가 천지 사이에 섰고 칼을 빼어 손에 들고 예루살렘 편을 가리켰는지라 다윗이 장로들로 더불어 굵은 베를 입고 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려
  David looked up and saw the angel of the LORD standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand extended over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell facedown.

17. 하나님께 아뢰되 명하여 백성을 계수하게 한 자가 내가 아니니이까 범죄하고 악을 행한 자는 곧 내니이다 이 양 무리는 무엇을 행하였나이까 청컨대 나의 하나님 여호와여 주의 손으로 나와 내 아비의 집을 치시고 주의 백성에게 재앙을 내리지 마옵소서
  David said to God, "Was it not I who ordered the fighting men to be counted? I am the one who has sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? O LORD my God, let your hand fall upon me and my family, but do not let this plague remain on your people."

18. 여호와의 사자가 갓을 명하여 다윗에게 이르시기를 올라가서 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당에서 여호와를 위하여 단을 쌓으라 하신지라
  Then the angel of the LORD ordered Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19. 다윗이 이에 갓이 여호와의 이름으로 이른 말씀대로 올라가니라
  So David went up in obedience to the word that Gad had spoken in the name of the LORD.

20. 때에 오르난이 밀을 타작하다가 돌이켜 천사를 보고 네 아들과 함께 숨었더니
  While Araunah was threshing wheat, he turned and saw the angel; his four sons who were with him hid themselves.

21. 다윗이 오르난에게 나아가매 오르난이 내어다보다가 다윗을 보고 타작 마당에서 나와서 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절하매
  Then David approached, and when Araunah looked and saw him, he left the threshing floor and bowed down before David with his face to the ground.

22. 다윗이 오르난에게 이르되 이 타작하는 곳을 내게 붙이라 너는 상당한 값으로 붙이라 내가 여호와를 위하여 여기 한 단을 쌓으리니 그리하면 온역이 백성 중에서 그치리라
  David said to him, "Let me have the site of your threshing floor so I can build an altar to the LORD, that the plague on the people may be stopped. Sell it to me at the full price."

23. 오르난이 다윗에게 고하되 왕은 취하소서 내 주 왕의 좋게 여기시는 대로 행하소서 보소서 내가 이것들을 드리나이다 소들은 번제물로, 곡식 떠는 기계는 화목으로, 밀은 소제물로 삼으시기 위하여 다 드리나이다
  Araunah said to David, "Take it! Let my lord the king do whatever pleases him. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering. I will give all this."

24. 다윗 왕이 오르난에게 이르되 그렇지 아니하다 내가 결단코 상당한 값으로 사리라 내가 여호와께 드리려고 네 물건을 취하지 아니하겠고 값없이는 번제를 드리지도 아니하리라 하고
  But King David replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing."

25. 그 기지 값으로 금 육백 세겔을 달아 오르난에게 주고
  So David paid Araunah six hundred shekels of gold for the site.

26. 다윗이 거기서 여호와를 위하여 단을 쌓고 번제와 화목제를 드려 여호와께 아뢰었더니 여호와께서 하늘에서부터 번제단 위에 불을 내려 응답하시고
  David built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He called on the LORD, and the LORD answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.

27. 사자를 명하시매 저가 칼을 집에 꽂았더라
  Then the LORD spoke to the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.

28. 이 때에 다윗이 여호와께서 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당에서 응답하심을 보고 거기서 제사를 드렸으니
  At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.

29. 옛적에 모세가 광야에서 지은 여호와의 장막과 번제단이 그 때에 기브온 산당에 있으나
  The tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses had made in the desert, and the altar of burnt offering were at that time on the high place at Gibeon.

30. 다윗이 여호와의 사자의 칼을 두려워하여 감히 그 앞에 가서 하나님께 묻지 못함이라
  But David could not go before it to inquire of God, because he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the LORD.

베드로전서 2

1. 그러므로 모든 악독과 모든 궤휼과 외식과 시기와 모든 비방하는 말을 버리고
  Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

2. 갓난 아이들같이 순전하고 신령한 젖을 사모하라 이는 이로 말미암아 너희로 구원에 이르도록 자라게 하려 함이라
  Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

3. 너희가 주의 인자하심을 맛보았으면 그리하라
  now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

4. 사람에게는 버린 바가 되었으나 하나님께는 택하심을 입은 보배로운 산 돌이신 예수에게 나아와
  As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him--

5. 너희도 산 돌 같이 신령한 집으로 세워지고 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드릴 거룩한 제사장이 될찌니라
  you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

6. 경에 기록하였으되 보라 내가 택한 보배롭고 요긴한 모퉁이 돌을 시온에 두노니 저를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당치 아니하리라 하였으니
  For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

7. 그러므로 믿는 너희에게는 보배이나 믿지 아니하는 자에게는 건축자들의 버린 그 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되고
  Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,"

8. 또한 부딪히는 돌과 거치는 반석이 되었다 하니라 저희가 말씀을 순종치 아니하므로 넘어지나니 이는 저희를 이렇게 정하신 것이라
  and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.

9. 오직 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요 거룩한 나라요 그의 소유된 백성이니 이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러 내어 그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 자의 아름다운 덕을 선전하게 하려 하심이라
  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

10. 너희가 전에는 백성이 아니더니 이제는 하나님의 백성이요 전에는 긍휼을 얻지 못하였더니 이제는 긍휼을 얻은 자니라
  Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

11. 사랑하는 자들아 나그네와 행인 같은 너희를 권하노니 영혼을 거스려 싸우는 육체의 정욕을 제어하라
  Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

12. 너희가 이방인 중에서 행실을 선하게 가져 너희를 악행한다고 비방하는 자들로 하여금 너희 선한 일을 보고 권고하시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라
  Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

13. 인간에 세운 모든 제도를 주를 위하여 순복하되 혹은 위에 있는 왕이나
  Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,

14. 혹은 악행하는 자를 징벌하고 선행하는 자를 포장하기 위하여 그의 보낸 방백에게 하라
  or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

15. 곧 선행으로 어리석은 사람들의 무식한 말을 막으시는 것이라
  For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.

16. 자유하나 그 자유로 악을 가리우는 데 쓰지 말고 오직 하나님의 종과 같이 하라
  Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

17. 뭇 사람을 공경하며 형제를 사랑하며 하나님을 두려워하며 왕을 공경하라
  Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

18. 사환들아 범사에 두려워함으로 주인들에게 순복하되 선하고 관용하는 자들에게만 아니라 또한 까다로운 자들에게도 그리하라
  Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

19. 애매히 고난을 받아도 하나님을 생각함으로 슬픔을 참으면 이는 아름다우나
  For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.

20. 죄가 있어 매를 맞고 참으면 무슨 칭찬이 있으리요 오직 선을 행함으로 고난을 받고 참으면 이는 하나님 앞에 아름다우니라
  But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

21. 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 입었으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라
  To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22. 저는 죄를 범치 아니하시고 그 입에 궤사도 없으시며
  "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."

23. 욕을 받으시되 대신 욕하지 아니하시고 고난을 받으시되 위협하지 아니하시고 오직 공의로 심판하시는 자에게 부탁하시며
  When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

24. 친히 나무에 달려 그 몸으로 우리 죄를 담당하셨으니 이는 우리로 죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살게 하려 하심이라 저가 채찍에 맞음으로 너희는 나음을 얻었나니
  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

25. 너희가 전에는 양과 같이 길을 잃었더니 이제는 너희 영혼의 목자와 감독 되신 이에게 돌아왔느니라
  For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

요나 4

1. 요나가 심히 싫어하고 노하여
  But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry.

2. 여호와께 기도하여 가로되 여호와여 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이러하겠다고 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 그러므로 내가 빨리 다시스로 도망하였사오니 주께서는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시는 하나님이신 줄을 내가 알았음이니이다
  He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

3. 여호와여 원컨대 이제 내 생명을 취하소서 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나음이니이다
  Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live."

4. 여호와께서 이르시되 너의 성냄이 어찌 합당하냐 하시니라
  But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"

5. 요나가 성에서 나가서 그 성 동편에 앉되 거기서 자기를 위하여 초막을 짓고 그 그늘 아래 앉아서 성읍이 어떻게 되는 것을 보려 하니라
  Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city.

6. 하나님 여호와께서 박넝쿨을 준비하사 요나 위에 가리우게 하셨으니 이는 그 머리를 위하여 그늘이 지게 하며 그 괴로움을 면케 하려 하심이었더라 요나가 박넝쿨을 인하여 심히 기뻐하였더니
  Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.

7. 하나님이 벌레를 준비하사 이튿날 새벽에 그 박넝쿨을 씹게 하시매 곧 시드니라
  But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered.

8. 해가 뜰 때에 하나님이 뜨거운 동풍을 준비하셨고 해는 요나의 머리에 쬐매 요나가 혼곤하여 스스로 죽기를 구하여 가로되 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나으니이다
  When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah's head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, "It would be better for me to die than to live."

9. 하나님이 요나에게 이르시되 네가 이 박 넝쿨로 인하여 성냄이 어찌 합당하냐 그가 대답하되 내가 성내어 죽기까지 할찌라도 합당하니이다
  But God said to Jonah, "Do you have a right to be angry about the vine?" "I do," he said. "I am angry enough to die."

10. 여호와께서 가라사대 네가 수고도 아니하였고 배양도 아니하였고 하룻밤에 났다가 하룻밤에 망한 이 박넝쿨을 네가 아꼈거든
  But the LORD said, "You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight.

11. 하물며 이 큰 성읍, 니느웨에는 좌우를 분변치 못하는 자가 십이만여 명이요 육축도 많이 있나니 내가 아끼는 것이 어찌 합당치 아니하냐
  But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

누가복음 9

1. 예수께서 열 두 제자를 불러 모으사 모든 귀신을 제어하며 병을 고치는 능력과 권세를 주시고
  When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases,

2. 하나님의 나라를 전파하며 앓는 자를 고치게 하려고 내어 보내시며
  and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

3. 이르시되 여행을 위하여 아무것도 가지지 말라 지팡이나 주머니나 양식이나 돈이나 두 벌 옷을 가지지 말며
  He told them: "Take nothing for the journey--no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic.

4. 어느 집에 들어가든지 거기서 유하다가 거기서 떠나라
  Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town.

5. 누구든지 너희를 영접지 아니하거든 그 성에서 떠날 때에 너희 발에서 먼지를 떨어 버려 저희에게 증거를 삼으라 하시니
  If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them."

6. 제자들이 나가 각 촌에 두루 행하여 처처에 복음을 전하며 병을 고치더라
  So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.

7. 분봉왕 헤롯이 이 모든 일을 듣고 심히 당황하여 하니 이는 혹은 요한이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아났다고도 하며
  Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead,

8. 혹은 엘리야가 나타났다고도 하며 혹은 옛 선지자 하나가 다시 살아났다고도 함이라
  others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.

9. 헤롯이 가로되 요한은 내가 목을 베었거늘 이제 이런 일이 들리니 이 사람이 누군고 하며 저를 보고자 하더라
  But Herod said, "I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?" And he tried to see him.

10. 사도들이 돌아와 자기들의 모든 행한 것을 예수께 고한대 데리시고 따로 벳새다라는 고을로 떠나가셨으나
  When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida,

11. 무리가 알고 따라왔거늘 예수께서 저희를 영접하사 하나님 나라의 일을 이야기하시며 병 고칠 자들은 고치시더라
  but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

12. 날이 저물어 가매 열 두 사도가 나아와 여짜오되 무리를 보내어 두루 마을과 촌으로 가서 유하며 먹을 것을 얻게 하소서 우리 있는 여기가 빈 들이니이다
  Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, "Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here."

13. 예수께서 이르시되 너희가 먹을 것을 주어라 하시니 여짜오되 우리에게 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리 밖에 없으니 이 모든 사람을 위하여 먹을 것을 사지 아니하고는 할 수 없삽나이다 하였으니
  He replied, "You give them something to eat." They answered, "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish--unless we go and buy food for all this crowd."

14. 이는 남자가 한 오천 명 됨이러라 제자들에게 이르시되 떼를 지어 한 오십 명씩 앉히라 하시니
  (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each."

15. 제자들이 이렇게 하여 다 앉힌 후
  The disciples did so, and everybody sat down.

16. 예수께서 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지사 하늘을 우러러 축사하시고 떼어 제자들에게 주어 무리 앞에 놓게 하시니
  Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before the people.

17. 먹고 다 배불렀더라 그 남은 조각 열두 바구니를 거두니라
  They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

18. 예수께서 따로 기도하실 때에 제자들이 주와 함께 있더니 물어 가라사대 무리가 나를 누구라고 하느냐
  Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say I am?"

19. 대답하여 가로되 세례 요한이라 하고 더러는 엘리야라, 더러는 옛 선지자 중의 하나가 살아났다 하나이다
  They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life."

20. 예수께서 이르시되 너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 하나님의 그리스도시니이다 하니
  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "The Christ of God."

21. 경계하사 이 말을 아무에게도 이르지 말라 명하시고
  Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone.

22. 가라사대 인자가 많은 고난을 받고 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 버린 바 되어 죽임을 당하고 제 삼 일에 살아나야 하리라 하시고
  And he said, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life."

23. 또 무리에게 이르시되 아무든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 날마다 제 십자가를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라
  Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

24. 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원코자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 구원하리라
  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.

25. 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 자기를 잃든지 빼앗기든지 하면 무엇이 유익하리요
  What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

26. 누구든지 나와 내 말을 부끄러워하면 인자도 자기와 아버지와 거룩한 천사들의 영광으로 올 때에 그 사람을 부끄러워하리라
  If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

27. 내가 참으로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 섰는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 하나님의 나라를 볼 자들도 있느니라
  I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."

28. 이 말씀을 하신 후 팔 일쯤 되어 예수께서 베드로와 요한과 야고보를 데리시고 기도하시러 산에 올라가사
  About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.

29. 기도하실 때에 용모가 변화되고 그 옷이 희어져 광채가 나더라
  As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

30. 문득 두 사람이 예수와 함께 말하니 이는 모세와 엘리야라
  Two men, Moses and Elijah,

31. 영광 중에 나타나서 장차 예수께서 예루살렘에서 별세하실 것을 말씀할쌔
  appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.

32. 베드로와 및 함께 있는 자들이 곤하여 졸다가 아주 깨어 예수의 영광과 및 함께 선 두 사람을 보더니
  Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

33. 두 사람이 떠날 때에 베드로가 예수께 여짜오되 주여 우리가 여기 있는 것이 좋사오니 우리가 초막 셋을 짓되 하나는 주를 위하여, 하나는 모세를 위하여, 하나는 엘리야를 위하여 하사이다 하되 자기의 하는 말을 자기도 알지 못하더라
  As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what he was saying.)

34. 이 말 할 즈음에 구름이 와서 저희를 덮는지라 구름 속으로 들어갈 때에 저희가 무서워하더니
  While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

35. 구름 속에서 소리가 나서 가로되 이는 나의 아들 곧 택함을 받은 자니 너희는 저의 말을 들으라 하고
  A voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him."

36. 소리가 그치매 오직 예수만 보이시더라 제자들이 잠잠하여 그 본 것을 무엇이든지 그 때에는 아무에게도 이르지 아니하니라
  When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves, and told no one at that time what they had seen.

37. 이튿날 산에서 내려 오시니 큰 무리가 맞을쌔
  The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.

38. 무리 중에 한 사람이 소리질러 가로되 선생님 청컨대 내 아들을 돌아보아 주옵소서 이는 내 외아들이니이다
  A man in the crowd called out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child.

39. 귀신이 저를 잡아 졸지에 부르짖게 하고 경련을 일으켜 거품을 흘리게 하며 심히 상하게 하고야 겨우 떠나가나이다
  A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.

40. 당신의 제자들에게 내어쫓아 주기를 구하였으나 저희가 능히 못하더이다
  I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not."

41. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 믿음이 없고 패역한 세대여 내가 얼마나 너희와 함께 있으며 너희를 참으리요 네 아들을 이리로 데리고 오라 하시니
  "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here."

42. 올 때에 귀신이 거꾸러뜨리고 심한 경련을 일으키게 하는지라 예수께서 더러운 귀신을 꾸짖으시고 아이를 낫게 하사 그 아비에게 도로 주시니
  Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father.

43. 사람들이 다 하나님의 위엄을 놀라니라 저희가 다 그 행하시는 모든 일을 기이히 여길쌔 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되
  And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

44. 이 말을 너희 귀에 담아 두라 인자가 장차 사람들의 손에 넘기우리라 하시되
  "Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men."

45. 저희가 이 말씀을 알지 못하였나니 이는 저희로 깨닫지 못하게 숨김이 되었음이라 또 저희는 이 말씀을 묻기도 두려워하더라
  But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

46. 제자 중에서 누가 크냐 하는 변론이 일어나니
  An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.

47. 예수께서 그 마음에 변론하는 것을 아시고 어린아이 하나를 데려다가 자기 곁에 세우시고
  Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him.

48. 저희에게 이르시되 누구든지 내 이름으로 이 어린아이를 영접하면 곧 나를 영접함이요 또 누구든지 나를 영접하면 곧 나 보내신 이를 영접함이라 너희 모든 사람 중에 가장 작은 그이가 큰 자니라
  Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all--he is the greatest."

49. 요한이 여짜오되 주여 어떤 사람이 주의 이름으로 귀신을 내어쫓는 것을 우리가 보고 우리와 함께 따르지 아니하므로 금하였나이다
  "Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us."

50. 예수께서 가라사대 금하지 말라 너희를 반대하지 않는 자는 너희를 위하는 자니라 하시니라
  "Do not stop him," Jesus said, "for whoever is not against you is for you."

51. 예수께서 승천하실 기약이 차가매 예루살렘을 향하여 올라가기로 굳게 결심하시고
  As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

52. 사자들을 앞서 보내시매 저희가 가서 예수를 위하여 예비하려고 사마리아인의 한 촌에 들어갔더니
  And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him;

53. 예수께서 예루살렘을 향하여 가시는 고로 저희가 받아들이지 아니하는지라
  but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem.

54. 제자 야고보와 요한이 이를 보고 가로되 주여 우리가 불을 명하여 하늘로 좇아 내려 저희를 멸하라 하기를 원하시나이까
  When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"

55. 예수께서 돌아보시며 꾸짖으시고
  But Jesus turned and rebuked them,

56. 함께 다른 촌으로 가시니라
  and they went to another village.

57. 길 가실 때에 혹이 여짜오되 어디로 가시든지 저는 좇으리이다
  As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."

58. 예수께서 가라사대 여우도 굴이 있고 공중의 새도 집이 있으되 인자는 머리 둘 곳이 없도다 하시고
  Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

59. 또 다른 사람에게 나를 좇으라 하시니 그가 가로되 나로 먼저 가서 내 부친을 장사하게 허락하옵소서
  He said to another man, "Follow me." But the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."

60. 가라사대 죽은 자들로 자기의 죽은 자들을 장사하게 하고 너는 가서 하나님의 나라를 전파하라 하시고
  Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."

61. 또 다른 사람이 가로되 주여 내가 주를 좇겠나이다마는 나로 먼저 내 가족을 작별케 허락하소서
  Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family."

62. 예수께서 이르시되 손에 쟁기를 잡고 뒤를 돌아보는 자는 하나님의 나라에 합당치 아니하니라 하시니라
  Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."
