■ 시편 35장

1. 다윗의 시 여호와여 나와 다투는 자와 다투시고 나와 싸우는 자와 싸우소서

  A Psalm of David . Plead my cause, O Lord , with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

 

2. 방패와 손 방패를 잡으시고 일어나 나를 도우소서

  Take hold of shield and buckler , and stand up for mine help .

 

3. 창을 빼사 나를 쫓는 자의 길을 막으시고 또 내 영혼에게 나는 네 구원이라 이르소서

  Draw out also the spear , and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul , I am thy salvation .

 

4. 내 생명을 찾는 자로 부끄러워 수치를 당케 하시며 나를 상해하려 하는 자로 물러가 낭패케 하소서

  Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul : let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt .

 

5. 저희로 바람 앞에 겨와 같게 하시고 여호와의 사자로 몰아내소서

  Let them be as chaff before the wind : and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

 

6. 저희 길을 어둡고 미끄럽게 하시고 여호와의 사자로 저희를 따르게 하소서

  Let their way be dark and slippery : and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

 

7. 저희가 무고히 나를 잡으려고 그 그물을 웅덩이에 숨기며 무고히 내 생명을 해하려고 함정을 팠사오니

  For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit , which without cause they have digged for my soul .

 

8. 멸망으로 졸지에 저에게 임하게 하시며 그 숨긴 그물에 스스로 잡히게 하시며 멸망 중에 떨어지게 하소서

  Let destruction come upon him at unawares ; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall .

 

9. 내 영혼이 여호와를 즐거워함이여 그 구원을 기뻐하리로다

  And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord : it shall rejoice in his salvation .

 

10. 내 모든 뼈가 이르기를 여호와와 같은 자 누구리요 그는 가난한 자를 그보다 강한 자에게서 건지시고 가난하고 궁핍한 자를 노략하는 자에게서 건지시는 이라 하리로다

  All my bones shall say , Lord , who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

 

11. 불의한 증인이 일어나서 내가 알지 못하는 일로 내게 힐문하며

  False witnesses did rise up ; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

 

12. 내게 선을 악으로 갚아 나의 영혼을 외롭게 하나

  They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul .

 

13. 나는 저희가 병 들었을 때에 굵은 베옷을 입으며 금식하여 내 영혼을 괴롭게 하였더니 내 기도가 내 품으로 돌아왔도다

  But as for me, when they were sick , my clothing was sackcloth : I humbled my soul with fasting ; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom .

 

14. 내가 나의 친구와 형제에게 행함 같이 저희에게 행하였으며 내가 굽히고 슬퍼하기를 모친을 곡함 같이 하였도다

  I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother : I bowed down heavily , as one that mourneth for his mother .

 

15. 오직 내가 환난을 당하매 저희가 기뻐하여 서로 모임이여 비류가 나의 알지 못하는 중에 모여 나를 치며 찢기를 마지 아니하도다

  But in mine adversity they rejoiced , and gathered themselves together : yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

 

16. 저희는 연회에서 망령되이 조롱하는 자 같이 나를 향하여 그 이를 갈도다

  With hypocritical mockers in feasts , they gnashed upon me with their teeth .

 

17. 주여 어느 때까지 관망하시리이까 내 영혼을 저 멸망자에게서 구원하시며 내 유일한 것을 사자들에게서 건지소서

  Lord , how long wilt thou look on ? rescue my soul from their destructions , my darling from the lions .

 

18. 내가 대회 중에서 주께 감사하며 많은 백성 중에서 주를 찬송하리이다

  I will give thee thanks in the great congregation : I will praise thee among much people .

 

19. 무리하게 나의 원수된 자로 나를 인하여 기뻐하지 못하게 하시며 무고히 나를 미워하는 자로 눈짓하지 못하게 하소서

  Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause .

 

20. 대저 저희는 화평을 말하지 아니하고 평안히 땅에 거하는 자를 거짓말로 모해하며

  For they speak not peace : but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land .

 

21. 또 저희가 나를 향하여 입을 크게 벌리고 하하 우리가 목도하였다 하나이다

  Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said , Aha , aha , our eye hath seen it.

 

22. 여호와여 주께서 이를 보셨사오니 잠잠하지 마옵소서 주여 나를 멀리하지 마옵소서

  This thou hast seen , O Lord : keep not silence : O Lord , be not far from me.

 

23. 나의 하나님 나의 주여 떨치고 깨셔서 나를 공판하시며 나의 송사를 다스리소서

  Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment , even unto my cause , my God and my Lord .

 

24. 여호와 나의 하나님이여 주의 공의대로 나를 판단하사 저희로 나를 인하여 기뻐하지 못하게 하소서

  Judge me, O Lord my God , according to thy righteousness ; and let them not rejoice over me.

 

25. 저희로 그 마음에 이르기를 아하 소원 성취하였다 하지 못하게 하시며 우리가 저를 삼켰다 하지 못하게 하소서

  Let them not say in their hearts , Ah , so would we have it : let them not say , We have swallowed him up .

 

26. 나의 해를 기뻐하는 자들로 부끄러워 낭패하게 하시며 나를 향하여 자긍하는 자로 수치와 욕을 당케 하소서

  Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt : let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

 

27. 나의 의를 즐거워하는 자로 기꺼이 부르고 즐겁게 하시며 그 종의 형통을 기뻐하시는 여호와는 광대하시다 하는 말을 저희로 항상 하게 하소서

  Let them shout for joy , and be glad , that favour my righteous cause : yea, let them say continually , Let the Lord be magnified , which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant .

 

28. 나의 혀가 주의 의를 말하며 종일토록 주를 찬송하리이다

  And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

【시35:1 JFB】시35:1-28. The Psalmist invokes God's aid, contrasting the hypocrisy, cunning, and malice of his enemies with his integrity and generosity. The imprecations of the first part including a brief notice of their conduct, the fuller exposition of their hypocrisy and malice in the second, and the earnest prayer for deliverance from their scornful triumph in the last, are each closed (시35:9, 10, 18, 27, 28) with promises of praise for the desired relief, in which his friends will unite. The historical occasion is probably 삼상24:1-22.
1-3. God is invoked in the character of a warrior (출15:3; 신32:41).

 

【시35:1 CWC】Psalm 25.
In the Hebrew this prayer is arranged as an acrostic, i. e., the first word of each verse begins with a letter in alphabetical order from A to Z.
Hereafter we shall not give as much attention to every Psalm as we have thus far, but trust the reader to do the analyzing after the examples given.
The purpose of the Commentary is not so much textual explanation as a stimulus to Bible study in a broader sense, and it is assumed that the reader has been studying the Bible side by side with the Commentary from the beginning.
The more difficult Psalms, some of the more familiar and popular, and those distinctively Messianic and millennial may be treated more at length, but others must be passed over.
In the present instance the prayer is for defence (vv. 1-3), guidance (vv. 4, 5), forgiveness (vv. 6-11), etc., intermingled with testimony to the divine goodness (vv. 12-15).
Psalm 26.
Is another appeal to God on the basis of avowed integrity and innocence of the charges of enemies. Note the features of righteous character of which the psalmist speaks, as well as the description of his enemies. The Modern Reader's Bible names this Psalm, "Searchings of heart before worship."
Psalm 27.
Is called by the volume named above "An Anthem of Deliverance," and throughout it exhibits confidence, hope and joy, in God's worship, with prayer for help and guidance in danger. The secret of the psalmist's confidence is given in verse four as his delight in divine fellowship expressed in worshiping in God's tabernacle. God will protect and deliver him (vv. 5, 6). He will be more to him than earthly parents (v. 10). All he craves is guidance (v. 11). He concludes with counsel to others in a like case (vv. 13, 14).
Psalm 29.
"The Song of the Thunderstorm," encourages confidence in God by the celebration of His power in His dominion over the natural world. "Discovereth the forests" (v. 9) means "stripping them bare." In the midst of this sublimity God's worshipers cry, "Glory!" (R. V.)
Psalm 30.
States its occasion in the title, the reference being to David's own house or palace (compare 신20:5); 삼하5:11; 7:2).
Psalm 31.
Is a cry of one in distress, which some have referred to as the period of David's persecution by Saul at Keilah. Read 삼상23:1-15, and then note in the Psalm, verses 4, 8, 10-15, 20-22.
Psalm 32.
Reads like "David's Spiritual Biography." It is thought to have been written after his sin with Bath-sheba (2 Sam. 11, 12). He has been brought to repentance for that sin and forgiven (Psalm 51), and now is praising God for that forgiveness, and telling what led up to it. It opens with a general declaration of his blessedness and why (vv. 1, 2). This is followed by his experience before forgiveness and when he was undergoing conviction of sin (vv. 3, 4). Confession brought forgiveness (v. 5). Let others act similarly in the same circumstances (v. 6). See what God is to him now (v. 7). The Psalm takes the form of a dialogue at this point, and God speaks at verses eight and nine, which should be read in the Revised Version. The whole concludes with a warning and exhortation (vv. 10, 11).
Psalm 33.
Is one of praise. It opens with a general chorus (vv. 1-3). This is followed by a semi-chorus (vv. 4-11), a second semi-chorus (vv. 12-19), and a final chorus (vv. 20-22). To follow this division suggested by the Modern Reader's Bible, is to obtain a good idea of the several subjects.
Psalm 34.
Has its occasion indicated in the title which refers to 삼상21:13. The name there is Achish, but some think Abimelech was the general name given the sovereigns of Gath at that time (창20:2). This is also an acrostic, and from a musical point of view consists of an introduction (vv. 1, 2), solos and choruses. For one solo, see verses 3-6, and for another 11-14.
Psalm 35.
May be read in connection with 1 Samuel 24, which some regard as its occasion. A comparison of that chapter will throw light on the meaning of several of its expressions.
Psalm 37.
Is one of the most popular of the Psalms of trust and confidence, whose contents are illustrated in David's personal history. It is an acrostic, which requires little in the way of explanation to any heart who really knows God through Jesus Christ. The theme is the prosperity of the wicked with counsel as to how the child of God should act in regard to it.

 

【시35:1 MHCC】It is no new thing for the most righteous men, and the most righteous cause, to meet with enemies. This is a fruit of the old enmity in the seed of the serpent against the Seed of the woman. David in his afflictions, Christ in his sufferings, the church under persecution, and the Christian in the hour temptation, all beseech the Almighty to appear in their behalf, and to vindicate their cause. We are apt to justify uneasiness at the injuries men do us, by our never having given them cause to use us so ill; but this should make us easy, for then we may the more expect that God will plead our cause. David prayed to God to manifest himself in his trial. Let me have inward comfort under all outward troubles, to support my soul. If God, by his Spirit, witness to our spirits that he is our salvation, we need desire no more to make us happy. If God is our Friend, no matter who is our enemy. By the Spirit of prophecy, David foretells the just judgments of God that would come upon his enemies for their great wickedness. These are predictions, they look forward, and show the doom of the enemies of Christ and his kingdom. We must not desire or pray for the ruin of any enemies, except our lusts and the evil spirits that would compass our destruction. A traveller benighted in a bad road, is an expressive emblem of a sinner walking in the slippery and dangerous ways of temptation. But David having committed his cause to God, did not doubt of his own deliverance. The bones are the strongest parts of the body. The psalmist here proposes to serve and glorify God with all his strength. If such language may be applied to outward salvation, how much more will it apply to heavenly things in Christ Jesus!

【시35:7 JFB】7, 8. net in a pit—or, "pit of their net"—or, "net-pit," as "holy hill" for "hill of holiness" (시2:6); a figure from hunting (시7:15). Their imprecations on impenitent rebels against God need no vindication; His justice and wrath are for such; His mercy for penitents. Compare 시7:16; 11:5, on the peculiar fate of the wicked here noticed.

【시35:11 JFB】11. False witnesses—literally, "Witnesses of injustice and cruelty" (compare 시11:5; 25:19).

 

【시35:11 MHCC】Call a man ungrateful, and you can call him no worse: this was the character of David's enemies. Herein he was a type of Christ. David shows how tenderly he had behaved towards them in afflictions. We ought to mourn for the sins of those who do not mourn for themselves. We shall not lose by the good offices we do to any, how ungrateful soever they may be. Let us learn to possess our souls in patience and meekness like David, or rather after Christ's example.

 

【시35:12 JFB】12-14. Though they rendered evil for good, he showed a tender sympathy in their affliction.
spoiling—literally, "bereavement." The usual modes of showing grief are made, as figures, to express his sorrow.

 

【시35:13 JFB】13. prayer … bosom—may denote either the posture—the head bowed—(compare 왕상18:42)—or, that the prayer was in secret. Some think there is a reference to the result—the prayer would benefit him if not them.

heavily—or, "squalidly," his sorrowing occasioning neglect of his person. Altogether, his grief was that of one for a dearly loved relative.

abjects—either as cripples (compare 삼하4:4), contemptible; or, degraded persons, such as had been beaten (compare 욥30:1-8).
I knew it not—either the persons, or, reasons of such conduct.
tear me, and ceased not—literally, "were not silent"—showing that the tearing meant slandering.

【시35:17 MHCC】Though the people of God are, and study to be, quiet, yet it has been common for their enemies to devise deceitful matters against them. David prays, My soul is in danger, Lord, rescue it; it belongs to thee the Father of spirits, therefore claim thine own; it is thine, save it! Lord, be not far from me, as if I were a stranger. He who exalted the once suffering Redeemer, will appear for all his people: the roaring lion shall not destroy their souls, any more than he could that of Christ, their Surety. They trust their souls in his hands, they are one with him by faith, are precious in his sight, and shall be rescued from destruction, that they may give thanks in heaven.
