■ 시편 27장

1. 다윗의 시 여호와는 나의 빛이요 나의 구원이시니 내가 누구를 두려워하리요 여호와는 내 생명의 능력이시니 내가 누구를 무서워하리요

  A Psalm of David . The Lord is my light and my salvation ; whom shall I fear ? the Lord is the strength of my life ; of whom shall I be afraid ?

 

2. 나의 대적, 나의 원수된 행악자가 내 살을 먹으려고 내게로 왔다가 실족하여 넘어졌도다

  When the wicked , even mine enemies and my foes , came upon me to eat up my flesh , they stumbled and fell .

 

3. 군대가 나를 대적하여 진 칠지라도 내 마음이 두렵지 아니하며 전쟁이 일어나 나를 치려 할지라도 내가 오히려 안연하리로다

  Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear : though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident .

 

4. 내가 여호와께 청하였던 한 가지 일 곧 그것을 구하리니 곧 나로 내 생전에 여호와의 집에 거하여 여호와의 아름다움을 앙망하며 그 전에서 사모하게 하실 것이라

  One thing have I desired of the Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life , to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple .

 

5. 여호와께서 환난 날에 나를 그 초막 속에 비밀히 지키시고 그 장막 은밀한 곳에 나를 숨기시며 바위 위에 높이 두시리로다

  For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion : in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock .

 

6. 이제 내 머리가 나를 두른 내 원수 위에 들리리니 내가 그 장막에서 즐거운 제사를 드리겠고 노래하여 여호와를 찬송하리로다

  And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy ; I will sing , yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord .

 

7. 여호와여 내가 소리로 부르짖을 때에 들으시고 또한 나를 긍휼히 여기사 응답하소서

  Hear , O Lord , when I cry with my voice : have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

 

8. 너희는 내 얼굴을 찾으라 하실 때에 내 마음이 주께 말하되 여호와여 내가 주의 얼굴을 찾으리이다 하였나이다

  When thou saidst, Seek ye my face ; my heart said unto thee, Thy face , Lord , will I seek .

 

9. 주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기지 마시고 주의 종을 노하여 버리지 마소서 주는 나의 도움이 되셨나이다 나의 구원의 하나님이시여 나를 버리지 말고 떠나지 마옵소서

  Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger : thou hast been my help ; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation .

 

10. 내 부모는 나를 버렸으나 여호와는 나를 영접하시리이다

  When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up .

 

11. 여호와여 주의 길로 나를 가르치시고 내 원수를 인하여 평탄한 길로 인도하소서

  Teach me thy way , O Lord , and lead me in a plain path , because of mine enemies .

 

12. 내 생명을 내 대적의 뜻에 맡기지 마소서 위증자와 악을 토하는 자가 일어나 나를 치려 함이니이다

  Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies : for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty .

 

13. 내가 산 자의 땅에 있음이여 여호와의 은혜 볼 것을 믿었도다

  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living .

 

14. 너는 여호와를 바랄지어다 강하고 담대하며 여호와를 바랄지어다

  Wait on the Lord : be of good courage , and he shall strengthen thine heart : wait , I say, on the Lord .

【시27:1 JFB】시27:1-14. With a general strain of confidence, hope, and joy, especially in God's worship, in the midst of dangers, the Psalmist introduces prayer for divine help and guidance.
1. light—is a common figure for comfort.
strength—or, "stronghold"—affording security against all violence. The interrogations give greater vividness to the negation implied.

 

【시27:1 CWC】Psalm 25.
In the Hebrew this prayer is arranged as an acrostic, i. e., the first word of each verse begins with a letter in alphabetical order from A to Z.
Hereafter we shall not give as much attention to every Psalm as we have thus far, but trust the reader to do the analyzing after the examples given.
The purpose of the Commentary is not so much textual explanation as a stimulus to Bible study in a broader sense, and it is assumed that the reader has been studying the Bible side by side with the Commentary from the beginning.
The more difficult Psalms, some of the more familiar and popular, and those distinctively Messianic and millennial may be treated more at length, but others must be passed over.
In the present instance the prayer is for defence (vv. 1-3), guidance (vv. 4, 5), forgiveness (vv. 6-11), etc., intermingled with testimony to the divine goodness (vv. 12-15).
Psalm 26.
Is another appeal to God on the basis of avowed integrity and innocence of the charges of enemies. Note the features of righteous character of which the psalmist speaks, as well as the description of his enemies. The Modern Reader's Bible names this Psalm, "Searchings of heart before worship."
Psalm 27.
Is called by the volume named above "An Anthem of Deliverance," and throughout it exhibits confidence, hope and joy, in God's worship, with prayer for help and guidance in danger. The secret of the psalmist's confidence is given in verse four as his delight in divine fellowship expressed in worshiping in God's tabernacle. God will protect and deliver him (vv. 5, 6). He will be more to him than earthly parents (v. 10). All he craves is guidance (v. 11). He concludes with counsel to others in a like case (vv. 13, 14).
Psalm 29.
"The Song of the Thunderstorm," encourages confidence in God by the celebration of His power in His dominion over the natural world. "Discovereth the forests" (v. 9) means "stripping them bare." In the midst of this sublimity God's worshipers cry, "Glory!" (R. V.)
Psalm 30.
States its occasion in the title, the reference being to David's own house or palace (compare 신20:5); 삼하5:11; 7:2).
Psalm 31.
Is a cry of one in distress, which some have referred to as the period of David's persecution by Saul at Keilah. Read 삼상23:1-15, and then note in the Psalm, verses 4, 8, 10-15, 20-22.
Psalm 32.
Reads like "David's Spiritual Biography." It is thought to have been written after his sin with Bath-sheba (2 Sam. 11, 12). He has been brought to repentance for that sin and forgiven (Psalm 51), and now is praising God for that forgiveness, and telling what led up to it. It opens with a general declaration of his blessedness and why (vv. 1, 2). This is followed by his experience before forgiveness and when he was undergoing conviction of sin (vv. 3, 4). Confession brought forgiveness (v. 5). Let others act similarly in the same circumstances (v. 6). See what God is to him now (v. 7). The Psalm takes the form of a dialogue at this point, and God speaks at verses eight and nine, which should be read in the Revised Version. The whole concludes with a warning and exhortation (vv. 10, 11).
Psalm 33.
Is one of praise. It opens with a general chorus (vv. 1-3). This is followed by a semi-chorus (vv. 4-11), a second semi-chorus (vv. 12-19), and a final chorus (vv. 20-22). To follow this division suggested by the Modern Reader's Bible, is to obtain a good idea of the several subjects.
Psalm 34.
Has its occasion indicated in the title which refers to 삼상21:13. The name there is Achish, but some think Abimelech was the general name given the sovereigns of Gath at that time (창20:2). This is also an acrostic, and from a musical point of view consists of an introduction (vv. 1, 2), solos and choruses. For one solo, see verses 3-6, and for another 11-14.
Psalm 35.
May be read in connection with 1 Samuel 24, which some regard as its occasion. A comparison of that chapter will throw light on the meaning of several of its expressions.
Psalm 37.
Is one of the most popular of the Psalms of trust and confidence, whose contents are illustrated in David's personal history. It is an acrostic, which requires little in the way of explanation to any heart who really knows God through Jesus Christ. The theme is the prosperity of the wicked with counsel as to how the child of God should act in regard to it.

 

【시27:1 MHCC】The Lord, who is the believer's light, is the strength of his life; not only by whom, but in whom he lives and moves. In God let us strengthen ourselves. The gracious presence of God, his power, his promise, his readiness to hear prayer, the witness of his Spirit in the hearts of his people; these are the secret of his tabernacle, and in these the saints find cause for that holy security and peace of mind in which they dwell at ease. The psalmist prays for constant communion with God in holy ordinances. All God's children desire to dwell in their Father's house. Not to sojourn there as a wayfaring man, to tarry but for a night; or to dwell there for a time only, as the servant that abides not in the house for ever; but to dwell there all the days of their life, as children with a father. Do we hope that the praising of God will be the blessedness of our eternity? Surely then we ought to make it the business of our time. This he had at heart more than any thing. Whatever the Christian is as to this life, he considers the favour and service of God as the one thing needful. This he desires, prays for and seeks after, and in it he rejoices.

 

【시27:2 JFB】2. eat … my flesh—(욥19:22; 시14:4). The allusion to wild beasts illustrates their rapacity.
they stumbled—"they" is emphatic; not I, but they were destroyed.

 

【시27:3 JFB】3. In the greatest dangers.
in this—that is, then, in such extremity.

 

【시27:4 JFB】4, 5. The secret of his confidence is his delight in communion with God (시16:11; 23:6), beholding the harmony of His perfections, and seeking His favor in His temple or palace; a term applicable to the tabernacle (compare 시5:7). There he is safe (시31:21; 61:5). The figure is changed in the last clause, but the sentiment is the same.

 

【시27:6 JFB】6. head be lifted up—I shall be placed beyond the reach of my enemies. Hence he avows his purpose of rendering joyful thank offerings.

 

【시27:7 JFB】7. Still pressing need extorts prayer for help.
cry with my voice—denotes earnestness. Other things equal, Christians in earnest pray audibly, even in secret.

 

【시27:7 MHCC】Wherever the believer is, he can find a way to the throne of grace by prayer. God calls us by his Spirit, by his word, by his worship, and by special providences, merciful and afflicting. When we are foolishly making court to lying vanities, God is, in love to us, calling us to seek our own mercies in him. The call is general, “Seek ye my face;” but we must apply it to ourselves, “I will seek it.” The word does us no good, when we do not ourselves accept the exhortation: a gracious heart readily answers to the call of a gracious God, being made willing in the day of his power. The psalmist requests the favour of the Lord; the continuance of his presence with him; the benefit of Divine guidance, and the benefit of Divine protection. God's time to help those that trust in him, is, when all other helpers fail. He is a surer and better Friend than earthly parents are, or can be. What was the belief which supported the psalmist? That he should see the goodness of the Lord. There is nothing like the believing hope of eternal life, the foresights of that glory, and foretastes of those pleasures, to keep us from fainting under all calamities. In the mean time he should be strengthened to bear up under his burdens. Let us look unto the suffering Saviour, and pray in faith, not to be delivered into the hands of our enemies. Let us encourage each other to wait on the Lord, with patient expectation, and fervent prayer.

 

【시27:8 JFB】8. The meaning is clear, though the construction in a literal translation is obscure. The English Version supplies the implied clause. To seek God's face is to seek His favor (시105:4).

 

【시27:9 JFB】9. Hide not, &c.—(시4:6; 22:24). Against rejection he pleads former mercy and love.

 

【시27:10 JFB】10. In the extremity of earthly destitution (시31:11; 38:11), God provides (compare 마25:35).

a plain path—(시26:12).
enemies—literally, "watchers for my fall" (시5:8).

 

【시27:12 JFB】12. will—literally, "soul," "desire" (시35:25).
enemies—literally, "oppressors." Falsehood aids cruelty against him.
breathe out—as being filled with it (행9:1).

 

【시27:13 JFB】13. The strong emotion is indicated by the incomplete sentence, for which the English Version supplies a proper clause; or, omitting that, and rendering, "yet I believed," &c., the contrast of his faith and his danger is expressed.
to see—is to experience (시22:17).
