■ 시편 19장
1. 다윗의 시, 영장으로 한 노래 하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 궁창이 그 손으로 하신 일을 나타내는도다
To the chief Musician , A Psalm of David . The heavens declare the glory of God ; and the firmament sheweth his handywork .
2. 날은 날에게 말하고 밤은 밤에게 지식을 전하니
Day unto day uttereth speech , and night unto night sheweth knowledge .
3. 언어가 없고 들리는 소리도 없으나
There is no speech nor language , where their voice is not heard .
4. 그 소리가 온 땅에 통하고 그 말씀이 세계 끝까지 이르도다 하나님이 해를 위하여 하늘에 장막을 베푸셨도다
Their line is gone out through all the earth , and their words to the end of the world . In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun ,
5. 해는 그 방에서 나오는 신랑과 같고 그 길을 달리기 기뻐하는 장사 같아서
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber , and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race .
6. 하늘 이 끝에서 나와서 하늘 저 끝까지 운행함이여 그 온기에서 피하여 숨은 자 없도다
His going forth is from the end of the heaven , and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7. 여호와의 율법은 완전하여 영혼을 소성케 하고 여호와의 증거는 확실하여 우둔한 자로 지혜롭게 하며
The law of the Lord is perfect , converting the soul : the testimony of the Lord is sure , making wise the simple .
8. 여호와의 교훈은 정직하여 마음을 기쁘게 하고 여호와의 계명은 순결하여 눈을 밝게 하도다
The statutes of the Lord are right , rejoicing the heart : the commandment of the Lord is pure , enlightening the eyes .
9. 여호와를 경외하는 도는 정결하여 영원까지 이르고 여호와의 규례는 확실하여 다 의로우니
The fear of the Lord is clean , enduring for ever : the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether .
10. 금 곧 많은 정금보다 더 사모할 것이며 꿀과 송이꿀보다 더 달도다
More to be desired are they than gold , yea, than much fine gold : sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb .
11. 또 주의 종이 이로 경계를 받고 이를 지킴으로 상이 크니이다
Moreover by them is thy servant warned : and in keeping of them there is great reward .
12. 자기 허물을 능히 깨달을 자 누구리요 나를 숨은 허물에서 벗어나게 하소서
Who can understand his errors ? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13. 또 주의 종으로 고범죄를 짓지 말게 하사 그 죄가 나를 주장치 못하게 하소서 그리하시면 내가 정직하여 큰 죄과에서 벗어나겠나이다
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright , and I shall be innocent from the great transgression .
14. 나의 반석이시요 나의 구속자이신 여호와여 내 입의 말과 마음의 묵상이 주의 앞에 열납되기를 원하나이다
Let the words of my mouth , and the meditation of my heart , be acceptable in thy sight , O Lord , my strength , and my redeemer .

【시19:1 JFB】시19:1-14. After exhibiting the harmonious revelation of God's perfections made by His works and His word, the Psalmist prays for conformity to the Divine teaching.
1. the glory of God—is the sum of His perfections (시24:7-10; 롬1:20).
firmament—another word for "heavens" (창1:8).
handywork—old English for "work of His hands."
【시19:1 CWC】Psalm 18.
A song of victory. It opens with ejaculatory expressions of triumph for deliverance. All nature is described as convulsed when the Almighty presses to the rescue. The next division is meditation on the principles involved, the whole closing with a further outburst of triumph and confidence. 2 Samuel 22 is a copy of this ode saving a few variations, and the student is referred to our treatment of it at that place.
Psalm 19.
God's revelation in the world and in the Word. We have a contrast between these two in this Psalm. In verses one to six there is the general revelation of the heavens, "wordless but extending their sphere over the whole earth," which then specializes to the sun as the chief figure of it all. But in 7-14, the law is celebrated, whose function is to warn against sin, and by conformity to which only can our thought and conduct become acceptable to God.
Observe the literary beauty as well as the spiritual teaching in the description of the law —- six names, six epithets and six effects. The clearer our apprehension of the law, so the Psalm teaches, the clearer is our view of sin, and the more evident that grace only can cleanse and keep us from it.
Psalms 20 and 21.
Are coupled in The Modern Reader's Bible, and called "An Antiphonal War Anthem." The first gives the prayers of the king and the people before the battle, and the second the thanksgiving after the victory.
As to the first, we hear the people (vv. 1-5), the king (v. 6), and then the people to the end. As to the second, the king is first (vv. 1-7), and then the people to the end. While this may be the historical setting of these Psalms, yet we are at liberty to apply their utterances in the spiritual scene to the experiences of believers in the Christian Church.
Psalm 22.
The Psalm of the Cross. Is this one of the great Messianic Psalms? Christ uttered the first verse on the cross (마27:46), and there is reason to think the words of the last were also heard. "He hath done it" (R. V.), in the Hebrew, corresponds closely to, "It is finished" (요19:30). If this were so, may we suppose that the whole Psalm was the language of the divine sufferer as He bare our sins on the cross?
There are three strophes, or great poetical divisions, each associated with the phrase, "Far from me." The first covers verses 1 to 10, the second 11 to 18, the third 19 to 31. In the first, we have a cry of distress (vv. 1, 2), an expression of confidence (vv. 3-5), a description of the enemies (vv. 6-8), and a second expression of confidence (vv. 9-10). In the second, we have two descriptions, the surrounding enemies (vv. 11-13), and the sufferer's experiences (vv. 14-18). In the third the whole tone is changed to a note of victory (vv. 19-21), a testimony of praise (vv. 22-26), and a prophecy of resurrection glory (vv. 27-31).
The Psalm gives a graphic picture of death by crucifixion with circumstances precisely fulfilled at Calvary. As that form of death penalty was Roman rather than Jewish, we agree with the Scofield Reference Bible that the "proof of inspiration is irresistible." At verse 22 the Psalm breaks from crucifixion to resurrection (compare 요20:17).
Psalm 23.
The Shepherd Psalm is such a favorite with all as to make an attempted exposition almost an offence. Did David compose it as a youth tending his father's sheep? If not, it must have been when occupied in reminiscences of those early days.
Note the possessive, "my shepherd," and the future, "shall not want." Because the Lord is my Shepherd I am

Being renewed -- "restoreth"
Surrendered in will -- "leadeth"
Trusting the promises -- "fear no evil"
Enjoying security -- "a table"
Doing service -- "runneth over"
Possessing hope -- "forever."
Psalm 24.
Is frequently defined as the Ascension Psalm. The Scofield Bible speaks of these last three Psalms, however, 22, 23 and 24, as a trilogy. In the first, the good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep (요10:11), in the second, the great Shepherd "brought again from the dead through the blood of the everlasting covenant," tenderly cares for His sheep (히13:20), and in the last, the chief Shepherd appears as king of glory to own and reward the sheep (벧전5:4).
From this point of view the order is: (a), the declaration of title, "The earth is the Lord's" (vv. 1, 2); (b), the challenge (vv. 3-6), it is a question of worthiness and no one is worthy but the Lamb (compare 단7:13, 14; 계5:3-10); (c), the king takes the throne (vv. 7-10), (compare 마25:31).
【시19:1 MHCC】The heavens so declare the glory of God, and proclaim his wisdom, power, and goodness, that all ungodly men are left without excuse. They speak themselves to be works of God's hands; for they must have a Creator who is eternal, infinitely wise, powerful, and good. The counter-changing of day and night is a great proof of the power of God, and calls us to observe, that, as in the kingdom of nature, so in that of providence, he forms the light, and creates the darkness, 사45:7, and sets the one against the other. The sun in the firmament is an emblem of the Sun of righteousness, the Bridegroom of the church, and the Light of the world, diffusing Divine light and salvation by his gospel to the nations of the earth. He delights to bless his church, which he has espoused to himself; and his course will be unwearied as that of the sun, till the whole earth is filled with his light and salvation. Let us pray for the time when he shall enlighten, cheer, and make fruitful every nation on earth, with the blessed salvation. They have no speech or language, so some read it, and yet their voice is heard. All people may hear these preachers speak in their own tongue the wonderful works of God. Let us give God the glory of all the comfort and benefit we have by the lights of heaven, still looking above and beyond them to the Sun of righteousness.

【시19:4 JFB】4. Their line—or, "instruction"—the influence exerted by their tacit display of God's perfections. Paul (롬10:18), quoting from the Septuagint, uses "sound," which gives the same sense.
【시19:5 JFB】5, 6. The sun, as the most glorious heavenly body, is specially used to illustrate the sentiment; and his vigorous, cheerful, daily, and extensive course, and his reviving heat (including light), well display the wondrous wisdom of his Maker.
【시19:7 JFB】7-9. The law is described by six names, epithets, and effects. It is a rule, God's testimony for the truth, His special and general prescription of duty, fear (as its cause) and judicial decision. It is distinct and certain, reliable, right, pure, holy, and true. Hence it revives those depressed by doubts, makes wise the unskilled (딤후3:15), rejoices the lover of truth, strengthens the desponding (시13:4; 34:6), provides permanent principles of conduct, and by God's grace brings a rich reward.
【시19:7 MHCC】The Holy Scripture is of much greater benefit to us than day or night, than the air we breathe, or the light of the sun. To recover man out of his fallen state, there is need of the word of God. The word translated “law,” may be rendered doctrine, and be understood as meaning all that teaches us true religion. The whole is perfect; its tendency is to convert or turn the soul from sin and the world, to God and holiness. It shows our sinfulness and misery in departing from God, and the necessity of our return to him. This testimony is sure, to be fully depended on: the ignorant and unlearned believing what God saith, become wise unto salvation. It is a sure direction in the way of duty. It is a sure fountain of living comforts, and a sure foundation of lasting hopes. The statues of the Lord are right, just as they should be; and, because they are right, they rejoice the heart. The commandments of the Lord are pure, holy, just, and good. By them we discover our need of a Saviour; and then learn how to adorn his gospel. They are the means which the Holy Spirit uses in enlightening the eyes; they bring us to a sight and sense of our sin and misery, and direct us in the way of duty. The fear of the Lord, that is, true religion and godliness, is clean, it will cleanse our way; and it endureth for ever. The ceremonial law is long since done away, but the law concerning the fear of God is ever the same. The judgments of the Lord, his precepts, are true; they are righteous, and they are so altogether; there is no unrighteousness in any of them. Gold is only for the body, and the concerns of time; but grace is for the soul, and the concerns of eternity. The word of God, received by faith, is more precious than gold; it is sweet to the soul, sweeter than honey. The pleasure of sense soon surfeit, yet never satisfy; but those of religion are substantial and satisfying; there is no danger of excess.
【시19:11 MHCC】God's word warns the wicked not to go on in his wicked way, and warns the righteous not to turn from his good way. There is a reward, not only after keeping, but in keeping God's commandments. Religion makes our comforts sweet, and our crosses easy, life truly valuable, and death itself truly desirable. David not only desired to be pardoned and cleansed from the sins he had discovered and confessed, but from those he had forgotten or overlooked. All discoveries of sin made to us by the law, should drive us to the throne of grace, there to pray. His dependence was the same with that of every Christian who says, Surely in the Lord Jesus have I righteousness and strength. No prayer can be acceptable before God which is not offered in the strength of our Redeemer or Divine Kinsman, through Him who took our nature upon him, that he might redeem us unto God, and restore the long-lost inheritance. May our hearts be much affected with the excellence of the word of God; and much affected with the evil of sin, and the danger we are in of it, and the danger we are in by it.
【시19:12 JFB】12-14. The clearer our view of the law, the more manifest are our sins. Still for its full effect we need divine grace to show us our faults, acquit us, restrain us from the practice, and free us from the power, of sin. Thus only can our conduct be blameless, and our words and thoughts acceptable to God.
