■ 시편 139장
1. 다윗의 시, 영장으로 한 노래 여호와여 주께서 나를 감찰하시고 아셨나이다
To the chief Musician , A Psalm of David . O Lord , thou hast searched me, and known me.
2. 주께서 나의 앉고 일어섬을 아시며 멀리서도 나의 생각을 통족하시오며
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising , thou understandest my thought afar off .
3. 나의 길과 눕는 것을 감찰하시며 나의 모든 행위를 익히 아시오니
Thou compassest my path and my lying down , and art acquainted with all my ways .
4. 여호와여 내 혀의 말을 알지 못하시는 것이 하나도 없으시니이다
For there is not a word in my tongue , but, lo, O Lord , thou knowest it altogether.
5. 주께서 나의 전후를 두르시며 내게 안수하셨나이다
Thou hast beset me behind and before , and laid thine hand upon me.
6. 이 지식이 내게 너무 기이하니 높아서 내가 능히 미치지 못하나이다
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high , I cannot attain unto it.
7. 내가 주의 신을 떠나 어디로 가며 주의 앞에서 어디로 피하리이까
Whither shall I go from thy spirit ? or whither shall I flee from thy presence ?
8. 내가 하늘에 올라갈지라도 거기 계시며 음부에 내 자리를 펼지라도 거기 계시니이다
If I ascend up into heaven , thou art there: if I make my bed in hell , behold, thou art there.
9. 내가 새벽 날개를 치며 바다 끝에 가서 거할지라도
If I take the wings of the morning , and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea ;
10. 곧 거기서도 주의 손이 나를 인도하시며 주의 오른손이 나를 붙드시리이다
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11. 내가 혹시 말하기를 흑암이 정녕 나를 덮고 나를 두른 빛은 밤이 되리라 할지라도
If I say , Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me .
12. 주에게서는 흑암이 숨기지 못하며 밤이 낮과 같이 비취나니 주에게는 흑암과 빛이 일반이니이다
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day : the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13. 주께서 내 장부를 지으시며 나의 모태에서 나를 조직하셨나이다
For thou hast possessed my reins : thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb .
14. 내가 주께 감사하옴은 나를 지으심이 신묘막측하심이라 주의 행사가 기이함을 내 영혼이 잘 아나이다
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made : marvellous are thy works ; and that my soul knoweth right well .
15. 내가 은밀한 데서 지음을 받고 땅의 깊은 곳에서 기이하게 지음을 받은 때에 나의 형체가 주의 앞에 숨기우지 못하였나이다
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret , and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth .
16. 내 형질이 이루기 전에 주의 눈이 보셨으며 나를 위하여 정한 날이 하나도 되기 전에 주의 책에 다 기록이 되었나이다
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect ; and in thy book all my members were written , which in continuance were fashioned , when as yet there was none of them.
17. 하나님이여 주의 생각이 내게 어찌 그리 보배로우신지요 그 수가 어찌 그리 많은지요
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God ! how great is the sum of them!
18. 내가 세려고 할지라도 그 수가 모래보다 많도소이다 내가 깰 때에도 오히려 주와 함께 있나이다
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand : when I awake , I am still with thee.
19. 하나님이여 주께서 정녕히 악인을 죽이시리이다 피 흘리기를 즐기는 자들아 나를 떠날지어다
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked , O God : depart from me therefore, ye bloody men .
20. 저희가 주를 대하여 악하게 말하며 주의 원수들이 헛되이 주의 이름을 칭하나이다
For they speak against thee wickedly , and thine enemies take thy name in vain .
21. 여호와여 내가 주를 미워하는 자를 미워하지 아니하오며 주를 치러 일어나는 자를 한하지 아니하나이까
Do not I hate them, O Lord , that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22. 내가 저희를 심히 미워하니 저희는 나의 원수니이다
I hate them with perfect hatred : I count them mine enemies .
23. 하나님이여 나를 살피사 내 마음을 아시며 나를 시험하사 내 뜻을 아옵소서
Search me, O God , and know my heart : try me, and know my thoughts :
24. 내게 무슨 악한 행위가 있나 보시고 나를 영원한 길로 인도하소서
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting .

【시139:1 JFB】시139:1-24. After presenting the sublime doctrines of God's omnipresence and omniscience, the Psalmist appeals to Him, avowing his innocence, his abhorrence of the wicked, and his ready submission to the closest scrutiny. Admonition to the wicked and comfort to the pious are alike implied inferences from these doctrines.
【시139:1 CWC】Psalm 135.
Praises God for choosing Jacob (vv. 1-4), extols His power in the natural world (vv. 5-7), and in the deliverance of His people from Egypt (vv. 8, 9) and bringing them into the promised land (vv. 10-12). All this is in contrast to the vanity pf idols (vv. 13-18).
Psalm 136.
Is of the same character as the preceding, but is notable for the chorus attached to each verse -- a chorus with which we have become familiar in other psalms (106:1; 118:1-4), and which may have been used by the people somewhat like the "Amen."
Psalm 137.
Is plainly identified as to its period and design.
Psalm 139.
Is perhaps the most sublime declaration of the omnipresence of God found in the Holy Scriptures. In the light of that attribute the Psalmist is willing to submit himself to the closest scrutinizing (v. 23), and for the reason indicated at the close. Who will follow in his train?
We have now reached another group of David's psalms (138-140) whose structure and style are like some of the earlier ones -- complaint, prayer, hope, praise.
Psalm 142.
Is unique in the historical note attached to it. The "cave" spoken of may have been Adullam (삼상22:1), or Engedi (삼상24:3), but it is not necessary to believe that the psalm was composed while David was in the cave. It may have been written later when his experience in the cave furnished a good illustration of his present need and an argument for his relief.
Psalms 147-150.
Are thought to especially celebrate the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and correspond to the conditions in 느6:16; 12:27 and other places, although their millennial application is not far to seek.
The last psalm is a fitting close to the book, "reciting the place, theme, mode and extent of Jehovah's exalted praise."
【시139:1 MHCC】God has perfect knowledge of us, and all our thoughts and actions are open before him. It is more profitable to meditate on Divine truths, applying them to our own cases, and with hearts lifted to God in prayer, than with a curious or disputing frame of mind. That God knows all things, is omniscient; that he is every where, is omnipresent; are truths acknowledged by all, yet they are seldom rightly believed in by mankind. God takes strict notice of every step we take, every right step and every by step. He knows what rule we walk by, what end we walk toward, what company we walk with. When I am withdrawn from all company, thou knowest what I have in my heart. There is not a vain word, not a good word, but thou knowest from what thought it came, and with what design it was uttered. Wherever we are, we are under the eye and hand of God. We cannot by searching find how God searches us out; nor do we know how we are known. Such thoughts should restrain us from sin.
【시139:7 MHCC】We cannot see God, but he can see us. The psalmist did not desire to go from the Lord. Whither can I go? In the most distant corners of the world, in heaven, or in hell, I cannot go out of thy reach. No veil can hide us from God; not the thickest darkness. No disguise can save any person or action from being seen in the true light by him. Secret haunts of sin are as open before God as the most open villanies. On the other hand, the believer cannot be removed from the supporting, comforting presence of his Almighty Friend. Should the persecutor take his life, his soul will the sooner ascend to heaven. The grave cannot separate his body from the love of his Saviour, who will raise it a glorious body. No outward circumstances can separate him from his Lord. While in the path of duty, he may be happy in any situation, by the exercise of faith, hope, and prayer.
【시139:17 MHCC】God's counsels concerning us and our welfare are deep, such as cannot be known. We cannot think how many mercies we have received from him. It would help to keep us in the fear of the Lord all the day long, if, when we wake in the morning, our first thoughts were of him: and how shall we admire and bless our God for his precious salvation, when we awake in the world of glory! Surely we ought not to use our members and senses, which are so curiously fashioned, as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin. But our immortal and rational souls are a still more noble work and gift of God. Yet if it were not for his precious thoughts of love to us, our reason and our living for ever would, through our sins, prove the occasion of our eternal misery. How should we then delight to meditate on God's love to sinners in Jesus Christ, the sum of which exceeds all reckoning! Sin is hated, and sinners lamented, by all who fear the Lord. Yet while we shun them we should pray for them; with God their conversion and salvation are possible. As the Lord knows us thoroughly, and we are strangers to ourselves, we should earnestly desire and pray to be searched and proved by his word and Spirit. if there be any wicked way in me, let me see it; and do thou root it out of me. The way of godliness is pleasing to God, and profitable to us; and will end in everlasting life. It is the good old way. All the saints desire to be kept and led in this way, that they may not miss it, turn out of it, or tire in it.
