■ 시편 125장

1. 성전에 올라가는 노래 여호와를 의뢰하는 자는 시온 산이 요동치 아니하고 영원히 있음 같도다

  A Song of degrees . They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion , which cannot be removed , but abideth for ever .

 

2. 산들이 예루살렘을 두름과 같이 여호와께서 그 백성을 지금부터 영원까지 두르시리로다

  As the mountains are round about Jerusalem , so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever .

 

3. 악인의 권세가 의인의 업에 미치지 못하리니 이는 의인으로 죄악에 손을 대지 않게 함이로다

  For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous ; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity .

 

4. 여호와여 선인에게와 마음이 정직한 자에게 선을 행하소서

  Do good , O Lord , unto those that be good , and to them that are upright in their hearts .

 

5. 자기의 굽은 길로 치우치는 자를 여호와께서 죄악을 짓는 자와 함께 다니게 하시리로다 이스라엘에게는 평강이 있을지어다

  As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways , the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity : but peace shall be upon Israel .

【시125:1 JFB】시125:1-5. God honors the confidence of His people, by protection and deliverance, and leaves hypocrites to the doom of the wicked.
1, 2. Mount Zion—as an emblem of permanence, and locality of Jerusalem as one of security, represent the firm and protected condition of God's people (compare 시46:5), supported not only by Providence, but by covenant promise. Even the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but God's kindness shall not depart, nor His covenant of peace be removed (사54:10).
They that trust—are "His people," (시125:2).

 

【시125:1 CWC】This group is differentiated by the title attached to each, "A Song of Degrees," or "A Song of Ascents." The title seems derived from the going up of the people to Jerusalem at the great festivals which came three times a year. (Compare 신16:16; 왕상12:27, 28, etc.); the thought being that they chanted the psalms at different stages in their journey.
The pertinency of this application of these psalms is more apparent in some than others. For example. Psalm 121 represents the pilgrim looking towards the goal of his journey, and inspired by its contemplation to apply the thought of the strength of its hills to the care of God for His people, and especially His care for them on their journey, by night or day (vv. 3-6). The spiritual application is easily suggestive. Psalms 124, 126, 129 and 130, suggest the Babylonian captivity. Psalm 134 represents the companies arriving at the sanctuary and calling on the priests to unite in praising God on their behalf, to which the priests reply in the language of the Mosaic blessing which they only could pronounce (v. 3).
Of the whole group Psalm 132 is the most important in some respects. May Solomon have been its author? It opens with a declaration of his father David's zeal for the building of the temple (vv. 1-7). "Ephratah" (v. 6) is another name for Bethlehem (창48:7). "The fields of the wood" stands for "Jair" or "Kirjath-jearim" whence the ark was brought up by David to Jerusalem. The psalm next pleads with God for fulfillment of His promises to David concerning the temple (vv. 8-18). The Solomonic application is clear in verses 10-12, and yet, it has a typical reference to the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

【시125:1 MHCC】All those minds shall be truly stayed, that are stayed on God. They shall be as Mount Zion, firm as it is; a mountain supported by providence, much more as a holy mountain supported by promise. They cannot be removed from confidence in God. They abide for ever in that grace which is the earnest of their everlasting continuance in glory. Committing themselves to God, they shall be safe from their enemies. Even mountains may moulder and come to nothing, and rocks be removed, but God's covenant with his people cannot be broken, nor his care of them cease. Their troubles shall last no longer than their strength will bear them up under them. The rod of the wicked may come, may fall upon the righteous, upon their persons, their estates, their liberties, their families names, on any thing that falls to their lot; only it cannot reach their souls. And though it may come upon their lot, it shall not rest thereon. The Lord will make all work together for their good. The wicked shall only prove a correcting rod, not a destroying sword; even this rod shall not remain upon them, lest they distrust the promise, thinking God has cast them off.

 

【시125:3 JFB】3. Though God may leave them for a time under the "rod," or power (시2:9), and oppression of the wicked for a time, as a chastisement, He will not suffer them to be tempted so as to fall into sin (고전10:13). The wicked shall only prove a correcting rod to them, not a destroying sword; even this rod shall not remain ("rest") on them, lest they be tempted to despair and apostasy (시73:13, 14). God may even try His people to the uttermost: when nothing is before our eyes but pure despair, then He delivers us and gives life in death, and makes us blessed in the curse (고후1:8, 9) [Luther].
the lot—the possession, literally, "Canaan," spiritually, the heavenly inheritance of holiness and bliss which is appointed to the righteous. Sin's dominion shall not permanently come between the believer and his inheritance.

 

【시125:4 JFB】4. (Compare 시7:10; 84:11).

 

【시125:4 MHCC】God's promises should quicken our prayers. The way of holiness is straight; there are no windings or shiftings in it. But the ways of sinners are crooked. They shift from one purpose to another, and turn hither and thither to deceive; but disappointment and misery shall befal them. Those who cleave to the ways of God, though they may have trouble in their way, their end shall be peace. The pleading of their Saviour for them, secures to them the upholding power and preserving grace of their God. Lord, number us with them, in time, and to eternity.
