■ 시편 116장
1. 여호와께서 내 음성과 내 간구를 들으시므로 내가 저를 사랑하는도다
I love the Lord , because he hath heard my voice and my supplications .
2. 그 귀를 내게 기울이셨으므로 내가 평생에 기도하리로다
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live .
3. 사망의 줄이 나를 두르고 음부의 고통이 내게 미치므로 내가 환난과 슬픔을 만났을 때에
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow .
4. 내가 여호와의 이름으로 기도하기를 여호와여 주께 구하오니 내 영혼을 건지소서 하였도다
Then called I upon the name of the Lord ; O Lord , I beseech thee, deliver my soul .
5. 여호와는 은혜로우시며 의로우시며 우리 하나님은 자비하시도다
Gracious is the Lord , and righteous ; yea, our God is merciful .

6. 여호와께서는 어리석은 자를 보존하시나니 내가 낮게 될 때에 나를 구원하셨도다
The Lord preserveth the simple : I was brought low , and he helped me.
7. 내 영혼아 네 평안함에 돌아갈지어다 여호와께서 너를 후대하심이로다
Return unto thy rest , O my soul ; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8. 주께서 내 영혼을 사망에서, 내 눈을 눈물에서, 내 발을 넘어짐에서 건지셨나이다
For thou hast delivered my soul from death , mine eyes from tears , and my feet from falling .
9. 내가 생존 세계에서 여호와 앞에 행하리로다
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living .
10. 내가 믿는고로 말하리라 내가 큰 곤란을 당하였도다
I believed , therefore have I spoken : I was greatly afflicted :
11. 내가 경겁 중에 이르기를 모든 사람은 거짓말장이라 하였도다
I said in my haste , All men are liars .
12. 여호와께서 내게 주신 모든 은혜를 무엇으로 보답할꼬
What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?
13. 내가 구원의 잔을 들고 여호와의 이름을 부르며
I will take the cup of salvation , and call upon the name of the Lord .
14. 여호와의 모든 백성 앞에서 나의 서원을 여호와께 갚으리로다
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people .
15. 성도의 죽는 것을 여호와께서 귀중히 보시는도다
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints .
16. 여호와여 나는 진실로 주의 종이요 주의 여종의 아들 곧 주의 종이라 주께서 나의 결박을 푸셨나이다
O Lord , truly I am thy servant ; I am thy servant , and the son of thine handmaid : thou hast loosed my bonds .
17. 내가 주께 감사제를 드리고 여호와의 이름을 부르리이다
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving , and will call upon the name of the Lord .
18. 내가 여호와의 모든 백성 앞에서 나의 서원을 여호와께 갚을지라
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people ,
19. 예루살렘아, 네 가운데서, 여호와의 전 정에서 내가 갚으리로다 할렐루야
In the courts of the Lord’s house , in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem . Praise ye the Lord .

【시116:1 JFB】시116:1-19. The writer celebrates the deliverance from extreme perils by which he was favored, and pledges grateful and pious public acknowledgments.
1, 2. A truly grateful love will be evinced by acts of worship, which calling on God expresses (시116:13; 시55:16; 86:7; compare 시17:6; 31:2).
【시116:1 CWC】The first psalm in this lesson is one of the imprecatory or cursing psalms, in the interpretation of which we should keep in mind the principles already stated, (1) that the writer speaks as a prophet; (2), that the enemies are not merely personal to him but enemies of God; (3), that they are not individuals so much as nations; and (4), that they are considered at a time when the incorrigible condition has been reached, and they have become permanently fixed in opposition to the Most High. The allusion to Judas (v. 8), suggests a symbolical character for the whole, and it would not be difficult to discover under the surface the lineaments of the Antichrist.
Psalm 110.
"The explicit application of this psalm to the Saviour, by Himself (마22:42-45), and by the apostles (행2:34; 고전15:25; 히1:13), and their frequent reference to its language and purport (엡1:20-22; 빌2:9-11; 히10:12, 13), leaves no doubt of its prophetic character.
"Not only was there nothing in the position or character of David to justify a reference to either, but the utter severance from the royal office of all priestly functions (so clearly assigned the subject of this psalm) positively forbids such a reference.
"The psalm celebrates the exaltation of Christ to the throne of an eternal and increasing kingdom, and a perpetual priesthood (슥6:13), involving the subjugation of His enemies and the multiplication of His subjects, and rendered infallibly certain by the word and oath of Almighty God." Psalms 111, 112.
Are frequently interpreted together, the first celebrating God's gracious dealings with His people, and the second carrying on the thought as an exposition of its last verse. Using that verse as a text, the whole of Psalm 112 becomes illuminative of it.
Psalms 113-118.
Of these psalms it may be said that the Jews used them on their great festivals, calling them the Greater Hallel, which means hymn. They contrast God's majesty with His condescension (113), they celebrate His former care of His people (114), they beseech Him to vindicate His glory over the vanity of idols (115), they praise Him for deliverance from peril (116), etc.
The last-named (116), is a particularly beautiful psalm, noting three distinct experiences of the Psalmist: love (vv. 1-6); rest (vv. 7-11) and gratitude (vv. 12-19). Love because God heard him, rest even when men are false to him, and gratitude expressed both with the lips and life.
Psalm 119.
Has several peculiarities. "It is divided into twenty-two parts, or stanzas, denoted by the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Each stanza contains eight verses, and the first letter of each verse gives name to the stanza.
Its contents are mainly praises of God's word, exhortation of its perusal, and reverence for it; prayers for its proper influence, and complaints of the wicked despising it. There are but two verses (vv. 122, 132) which do not contain some term or description of God's word. These terms are of various derivations, but used, for the most part, synonymously, though the variety seems designed to express better the several aspects in which our relations to the Word are presented.
The psalm does not appear to have relation to any special occasion of the Jewish nation, but was evidently "intended as a manual of pious thoughts, especially for instructing the young, and its artificial structure was probably to aid the memory." [Jamieson, Faussett and Brown.]
【시116:1 MHCC】We have many reasons for loving the Lord, but are most affected by his loving-kindness when relieved out of deep distress. When a poor sinner is awakened to a sense of his state, and fears that he must soon sink under the just wrath of God, then he finds trouble and sorrow. But let all such call upon the Lord to deliver their souls, and they will find him gracious and true to his promise. Neither ignorance nor guilt will hinder their salvation, when they put their trust in the Lord. Let us all speak of God as we have found him; and have we ever found him otherwise than just and good? It is of his mercies that we are not consumed. Let those who labour and are heavy laden come to him, that they may find rest to their souls; and if at all drawn from their rest, let them haste to return, remembering how bountifully the Lord has dealt with them. We should deem ourselves bound to walk as in his presence. It is a great mercy to be kept from being swallowed up with over-much sorrow. It is a great mercy for God to hold us by the right hand, so that we are not overcome and overthrown by a temptation. But when we enter the heavenly rest, deliverance from sin and sorrow will be complete; we shall behold the glory of the Lord, and walk in his presence with delight we cannot now conceive.

gat hold upon me—Another sense ("found") of the same word follows, as we speak of disease finding us, and of our finding or catching disease.
【시116:5 JFB】5-8. The relief which he asked is the result not of his merit, but of God's known pity and tenderness, which is acknowledged in assuring himself (his "soul," 시11:1; 16:10) of rest and peace. All calamities [시116:8] are represented by death, tears, and falling of the feet (시56:13).
【시116:9 JFB】9. walk before the Lord—act, or live under His favor and guidance (창17:1; 시61:7).

【시116:10 JFB】10, 11. Confidence in God opposed to distrust of men, as not reliable (시68:8, 9). He speaks from an experience of the result of his faith.
【시116:10 MHCC】When troubled, we do best to hold our peace, for we are apt to speak unadvisedly. Yet there may be true faith where there are workings of unbelief; but then faith will prevail; and being humbled for our distrust of God's word, we shall experience his faithfulness to it. What can the pardoned sinner, or what can those who have been delivered from trouble or distress, render to the Lord for his benefits? We cannot in any way profit him. Our best is unworthy of his acceptance; yet we ought to devote ourselves and all we have to his service. I will take the cup of salvation; I will offer the drink-offerings appointed by the law, in token of thankfulness to God, and rejoice in God's goodness to me. I will receive the cup of affliction; that cup, that bitter cup, which is sanctified to the saints, so that to them it is a cup of salvation; it is a means of spiritual health. The cup of consolation; I will receive the benefits God bestows upon me, as from his hand, and taste his love in them, as the portion not only of mine inheritance in the other world, but of my cup in this. Let others serve what masters they will, truly I am thy servant. Two ways men came to be servants. By birth. Lord, I was born in thy house; I am the son of thine handmaid, and therefore thine. It is a great mercy to be children of godly parents. By redemption. Lord, thou hast loosed my bonds, thou hast discharged me from them, therefore I am thy servant. The bonds thou hast loosed shall tie me faster unto thee. Doing good is sacrifice, with which God is well pleased; and this must accompany giving thanks to his name. Why should we offer that to the Lord which cost us nothing? The psalmist will pay his vows now; he will not delay the payment: publicly, not to make a boast, but to show he is not ashamed of God's service, and to invite others to join him. Such are true saints of God, in whose lives and deaths he will be glorified.
