■ 시편 104장
1. 내 영혼아 여호와를 송축하라 여호와 나의 하나님이여 주는 심히 광대하시며 존귀와 권위를 입으셨나이다
Bless the Lord , O my soul . O Lord my God , thou art very great ; thou art clothed with honour and majesty .
2. 주께서 옷을 입음 같이 빛을 입으시며 하늘을 휘장 같이 치시며
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment : who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain :
3. 물에 자기 누각의 들보를 얹으시며 구름으로 자기 수레를 삼으시고 바람 날개로 다니시며
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters : who maketh the clouds his chariot : who walketh upon the wings of the wind :
4. 바람으로 자기 사자를 삼으시며 화염으로 자기 사역자를 삼으시며
Who maketh his angels spirits ; his ministers a flaming fire :
5. 땅의 기초를 두사 영원히 요동치 않게 하셨나이다
Who laid the foundations of the earth , that it should not be removed for ever .
6. 옷으로 덮음 같이 땅을 바다로 덮으시매 물이 산들 위에 섰더니
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment : the waters stood above the mountains .
7. 주의 견책을 인하여 도망하여 주의 우뢰 소리를 인하여 빨리 가서
At thy rebuke they fled ; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
8. 주의 정하신 처소에 이르렀고 산은 오르고 골짜기는 내려갔나이다
They go up by the mountains ; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
9. 주께서 물의 경계를 정하여 넘치지 못하게 하시며 다시 돌아와 땅을 덮지 못하게 하셨나이다
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over ; that they turn not again to cover the earth .
10. 여호와께서 샘으로 골짜기에서 솟아나게 하시고 산 사이에 흐르게 하사
He sendeth the springs into the valleys , which run among the hills .
11. 들의 각 짐승에게 마시우시니 들나귀들도 해갈하며
They give drink to every beast of the field : the wild asses quench their thirst .
12. 공중의 새들이 그 가에서 깃들이며 나무가지 사이에서 소리를 발하는도다
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation , which sing among the branches .
13. 저가 그 누각에서 산에 물을 주시니 주의 행사의 결과가 땅에 풍족하도다
He watereth the hills from his chambers : the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works .
14. 저가 가축을 위한 풀과 사람의 소용을 위한 채소를 자라게 하시며 땅에서 식물이 나게 하시고
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle , and herb for the service of man : that he may bring forth food out of the earth ;
15. 사람의 마음을 기쁘게 하는 포도주와 사람의 얼굴을 윤택케 하는 기름과 사람의 마음을 힘있게 하는 양식을 주셨도다
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man , and oil to make his face to shine , and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart .
16. 여호와의 나무가 우택에 흡족함이여 곧 그의 심으신 레바논 백향목이로다
The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon , which he hath planted ;
17. 새들이 그 속에 깃을 들임이여 학은 잣나무로 집을 삼는도다
Where the birds make their nests : as for the stork , the fir trees are her house .
18. 높은 산들은 산양을 위함이여 바위는 너구리의 피난처로다
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats ; and the rocks for the conies .
19. 여호와께서 달로 절기를 정하심이여 해는 그 지는 것을 알도다
He appointed the moon for seasons : the sun knoweth his going down .
20. 주께서 흑암을 지어 밤이 되게 하시니 삼림의 모든 짐승이 기어 나오나이다
Thou makest darkness , and it is night : wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
21. 젊은 사자가 그 잡을 것을 쫓아 부르짖으며 그 식물을 하나님께 구하다가
The young lions roar after their prey , and seek their meat from God .
22. 해가 돋으면 물러가서 그 굴혈에 눕고
The sun ariseth , they gather themselves together , and lay them down in their dens .
23. 사람은 나와서 노동하며 저녁까지 수고하는도다
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening .
24. 여호와여 주의 하신 일이 어찌 그리 많은지요 주께서 지혜로 저희를 다 지으셨으니 주의 부요가 땅에 가득하니이다
O Lord , how manifold are thy works ! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches .
25. 저기 크고 넓은 바다가 있고 그 속에 동물 곧 대소 생물이 무수하니이다
So is this great and wide sea , wherein are things creeping innumerable , both small and great beasts .
26. 선척이 거기 다니며 주의 지으신 악어가 그 속에서 노나이다
There go the ships : there is that leviathan , whom thou hast made to play therein.
27. 이것들이 다 주께서 때를 따라 식물 주시기를 바라나이다
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season .
28. 주께서 주신즉 저희가 취하며 주께서 손을 펴신즉 저희가 좋은 것으로 만족하다가
That thou givest them they gather : thou openest thine hand , they are filled with good .
29. 주께서 낯을 숨기신즉 저희가 떨고 주께서 저희 호흡을 취하신즉 저희가 죽어 본 흙으로 돌아가나이다
Thou hidest thy face , they are troubled : thou takest away their breath , they die , and return to their dust .
30. 주의 영을 보내어 저희를 창조하사 지면을 새롭게 하시나이다
Thou sendest forth thy spirit , they are created : and thou renewest the face of the earth .
31. 여호와의 영광이 영원히 계속할지며 여호와는 자기 행사로 인하여 즐거워하실지로다
The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever : the Lord shall rejoice in his works .
32. 저가 땅을 보신즉 땅이 진동하며 산들에 접촉하신즉 연기가 발하도다
He looketh on the earth , and it trembleth : he toucheth the hills , and they smoke .
33. 나의 평생에 여호와께 노래하며 나의 생존한 동안 내 하나님을 찬양하리로다
I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live : I will sing praise to my God while I have my being .
34. 나의 묵상을 가상히 여기시기를 바라나니 나는 여호와로 인하여 즐거워하리로다
My meditation of him shall be sweet : I will be glad in the Lord .
35. 죄인을 땅에서 소멸하시며 악인을 다시 있지 못하게 하실지로다 내 영혼아 여호와를 송축하라 할렐루야
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth , and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord , O my soul . Praise ye the Lord .

【시104:1 JFB】시104:1-35. The Psalmist celebrates God's glory in His works of creation and providence, teaching the dependence of all living creatures; and contrasting the happiness of those who praise Him with the awful end of the wicked.
1. God's essential glory, and also that displayed by His mighty works, afford ground for praise.
【시104:1 CWC】The first Psalm in this lesson suggests Psalm 74 on which we did not dwell, but both of which depict the desolations of Judah by the Babylonians (cf. 렘52:12-24), On this supposition their date would be that of the captivity, and their author a later Asaph than the Asaph mentioned in David's time.
Psalm 80.
Has captivity features also, and some would say it relates to the ten tribes, as the preceding Psalm does to Judah, The next several Psalms are much alike in this respect and may easily be interpreted from that point of view.
Psalm 86.
Attributed to David, constitutes a break in the series, and is a prayer which we pause to analyze. Observe the touching picture in verse 1, a child with his arms round his father's neck. Observe the five requests for: preservation, joy, instruction, strength and encouragement, in verses 2, 4, 11, 16 and 17 respectively. Observe the grounds from the human side on which an answer is expected, his need, importunity (margin), trust, relationship to God (margin), verses 1, 3, 4 and 2. From the divine side he expected it because of God's goodness, greatness and grace, verses, 5, 10, 13.
Of the authors of Psalms 88 and 89 we know nothing save that their names are among David's singers (대상6:18,33; 15:17). There is little to show the occasion when they were written, but the last-named has been assigned to Absalom's rebellion. From that point of view it may be a contrast between the promised prosperity of David's throne (2 Sam. 7), and what now threatens its downfall; but in any event it is full of helpfulness in spiritual application.
Psalms 90 and 91 (especially the latter).
Rank with 37, 51 and 103 in popular favor, being quoted almost as frequently. The first is a contrast between man's frailty and God's eternity, and the second, an outburst, of confidence in the presence of physical peril. Many a foreign missionary has found this last "a very present help in time of trouble"! The two Psalms are also capable of a dispensational application, the first referring to Israel's day of sorrow and repentance, and the second to her deliverance and protection from the tribulation to come. Satan's use of 91:11, 12, in the temptation of our Lord, will not be forgotten (마4:6).
Psalms 93-100.
Were applied by the Jews to the times of the Messiah, who had in mind His first advent only; but we in the light of subsequent events see their application to His second advent. In Psalm 93 He is entering on His reign; in 94 He is appealed to for judgment on the evil-doers; in 95 Israel is exhorted to praise Him, and warned against unbelief. The substance of the next four is found in 1 Chronicles 16, which was used by David's direction at the dedication of the tabernacle on Mt. Zion, which typified the dispensation of the Messiah.
A break appears at Psalm 101, where David is once more named, and is making a vow of consecration corresponding to Psalm 15. In Psalm 102 he is pouring out a deep complaint, prophetic of Israel's hour of tribulation and her deliverance therefrom (vv. 13-22). Observe that when the kingdoms of the earth are serving the Lord, men will be declaring His name in Zion and praising Him in Jerusalem. As we have seen earlier, that sacred city will be the centre of things in the millennial age.
Psalms 103-108.
Are all of praise. In the first, David rises from a thankful acknowledgment of personal blessings (vv. 1-5) to a celebration of God's attributes. In the next God is praised for His works of creation and providence. In the next Israel's special reasons for praise are enumerated, the thought being carried forward into the two succeeding Psalms, although the second of the two broadens out again into a celebration of God's mercy to all men in their various emergencies. It is one of the most beautiful of the Psalms and its structure affords another good opportunity to illustrate Hebrew poetry.
【시104:1 MHCC】Every object we behold calls on us to bless and praise the Lord, who is great. His eternal power and Godhead are clearly shown by the things which he hath made. God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. The Lord Jesus, the Son of his love, is the Light of the world.
【시104:2 JFB】2. light—is a figurative representation of the glory of the invisible God (마17:2; 딤전6:16). Its use in this connection may refer to the first work of creation (창1:3).
stretchest out the heavens—the visible heavens or sky which cover the earth as a curtain (사40:12).
【시104:3 JFB】3. in the waters—or, it may be "with"; using this fluid for the beams, or frames, of His residence accords with the figure of clouds for chariots, and wind as a means of conveyance.
walketh—or, "moveth" (compare 시18:10, 11; 암9:6).
【시104:4 JFB】4. This is quoted by Paul (히1:7) to denote the subordinate position of angels; that is, they are only messengers as other and material agencies.
spirits—literally, "winds."
flaming fire—(시105:32) being here so called.
【시104:5 JFB】5. The earth is firmly fixed by His power.
【시104:6 JFB】6-9. These verses rather describe the wonders of the flood than the creation (창7:19, 20; 벧후3:5, 6). God's method of arresting the flood and making its waters subside is poetically called a "rebuke" (시76:6; 사50:2), and the process of the flood's subsiding by undulations among the hills and valleys is vividly described.
【시104:10 JFB】10-13. Once destructive, these waters are subjected to the service of God's creatures. In rain and dew from His chambers (compare 시104:3), and fountains and streams, they give drink to thirsting animals and fertilize the soil. Trees thus nourished supply homes to singing birds, and the earth teems with the productions of God's wise agencies,
【시104:10 MHCC】When we reflect upon the provision made for all creatures, we should also notice the natural worship they render to God. Yet man, forgetful ungrateful man, enjoys the largest measure of his Creator's kindness. the earth, varying in different lands. Nor let us forget spiritual blessings; the fruitfulness of the church through grace, the bread of everlasting life, the cup of salvation, and the oil of gladness. Does God provide for the inferior creatures, and will he not be a refuge to his people?
【시104:14 JFB】14, 15. so that men and beasts are abundantly provided with food.
for the service—literally, "for the culture," &c., by which he secures the results.
oil … shine—literally, "makes his face to shine more than oil," that is, so cheers and invigorates him, that outwardly he appears better than if anointed.
strengtheneth … heart—gives vigor to man (compare 유19:5).
【시104:16 JFB】16-19. God's care of even wild animals and uncultivated parts of the earth.
【시104:19 MHCC】We are to praise and magnify God for the constant succession of day and night. And see how those are like to the wild beasts, who wait for the twilight, and have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Does God listen to the language of mere nature, even in ravenous creatures, and shall he not much more interpret favourably the language of grace in his own people, though weak and broken groanings which cannot be uttered? There is the work of every day, which is to be done in its day, which man must apply to every morning, and which he must continue in till evening; it will be time enough to rest when the night comes, in which no man can work. The psalmist wonders at the works of God. The works of art, the more closely they are looked upon, the more rough they appear; the works of nature appear more fine and exact. They are all made in wisdom, for they all answer the end they were designed to serve. Every spring is an emblem of the resurrection, when a new world rises, as it were, out of the ruins of the old one. But man alone lives beyond death. When the Lord takes away his breath, his soul enters on another state, and his body will be raised, either to glory or to misery. May the Lord send forth his Spirit, and new-create our souls to holiness.

【시104:24 JFB】24-26. From a view of the earth thus full of God's blessings, the writer passes to the sea, which, in its immensity, and as a scene and means of man's activity in commerce, and the home of countless multitudes of creatures, also displays divine power and beneficence. The mention of
【시104:26 JFB】26. leviathan—(욥40:20) heightens the estimate of the sea's greatness, and of His power who gives such a place for sport to one of His creatures.
【시104:27 JFB】27-30. The entire dependence of this immense family on God is set forth. With Him, to kill or make alive is equally easy. To hide His face is to withdraw favor (시13:1). By His spirit, or breath, or mere word, He gives life. It is His constant providence which repairs the wastes of time and disease.
【시104:31 JFB】31-34. While God could equally glorify His power in destruction, that He does it in preservation is of His rich goodness and mercy, so that we may well spend our lives in grateful praise, honoring to Him, and delightful to pious hearts (시147:1).
【시104:31 MHCC】Man's glory is fading; God's glory is everlasting: creatures change, but with the Creator there is no variableness. And if mediation on the glories of creation be so sweet to the soul, what greater glory appears to the enlightened mind, when contemplating the great work of redemption! There alone can a sinner perceive ground of confidence and joy in God. While he with pleasure upholds all, governs all, and rejoices in all his works, let our souls, touched by his grace, meditate on and praise him.
