■ 누가복음 24장

1. 안식 후 첫날 새벽에 이 여자들이 그 예비한 향품을 가지고 무덤에 가서

  Now upon the first day of the week , very early in the morning , they came unto the sepulchre , bringing the spices which they had prepared , and certain others with them .

 

2. 돌이 무덤에서 굴려 옮기운 것을 보고

  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre .

  And as they were afraid , and bowed down their faces to the earth , they said unto them , Why seek ye the living among the dead ?

  He is not here , but is risen : remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee ,

 

7. 이르시기를 인자가 죄인의 손에 넘기워 십자가에 못 박히고 제삼일에 다시 살아나야 하리라 하셨느니라 한대

  Saying , The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men , and be crucified , and the third day rise again .

  And returned from the sepulchre , and told all these things unto the eleven , and to all the rest .

  It was Mary Magdalene , and Joanna , and Mary the mother of James , and other women that were with them , which told these things unto the apostles .

  And their words seemed to them as idle tales , and they believed them not .

 

12. 베드로는 일어나 무덤에 달려가서 구푸려 들여다 보니 세마포만 보이는지라 그 된 일을 기이히 여기며 집으로 돌아가니라

  Then arose Peter , and ran unto the sepulchre ; and stooping down , he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves , and departed , wondering in himself at that which was come to pass .

 

13. 그 날에 저희 중 둘이 예루살렘에서 이십오 리 되는 엠마오라 하는 촌으로 가면서

  And , behold , two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus , which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs .

  And they talked together of all these things which had happened .

  And it came to pass , that, while they communed together and reasoned , Jesus himself drew near , and went with them .

  But their eyes were holden that they should not know him .

 

17. 예수께서 이르시되 너희가 길 가면서 서로 주고 받고 하는 이야기가 무엇이냐 하시니 두 사람이 슬픈 빛을 띠고 머물러 서더라

  And he said unto them , What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another , as ye walk , and are sad ?

 

18. 그 한 사람인 글로바라 하는 자가 대답하여 가로되 당신이 예루살렘에 우거하면서 근일 거기서 된 일을 홀로 알지 못하느뇨

  And the one of them , whose name was Cleopas , answering said unto him , Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem , and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days ?

 

19. 가라사대 무슨 일이뇨 가로되 나사렛 예수의 일이니 그는 하나님과 모든 백성 앞에서 말과 일에 능하신 선지자여늘

  And he said unto them , What things ? And they said unto him , Concerning Jesus of Nazareth , which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people :

 

20. 우리 대제사장들과 관원들이 사형 판결에 넘겨 주어 십자가에 못 박았느니라

  And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death , and have crucified him .

 

21. 우리는 이 사람이 이스라엘을 구속할 자라고 바랐노라 이뿐 아니라 이 일이 된 지가 사흘째요

  But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel : and beside all this , to day is the third day since these things were done .

 

22. 또한 우리 중에 어떤 여자들이 우리로 놀라게 하였으니 이는 저희가 새벽에 무덤에 갔다가

  Yea , and certain women also of our company made us astonished , which were early at the sepulchre ;

 

23. 그의 시체는 보지 못하고 와서 그가 살으셨다 하는 천사들의 나타남을 보았다 함이라

  And when they found not his body , they came , saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels , which said that he was alive .

 

24. 또 우리와 함께한 자 중에 두어 사람이 무덤에 가 과연 여자들의 말한 바와 같음을 보았으나 예수는 보지 못하였느니라 하거늘

  And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre , and found it even so as the women had said : but him they saw not .

 

25. 가라사대 미련하고 선지자들의 말한 모든 것을 마음에 더디 믿는 자들이여

  Then he said unto them , O fools , and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken :

 

26. 그리스도가 이런 고난을 받고 자기의 영광에 들어가야 할 것이 아니냐 하시고

  Ought not Christ to have suffered these things , and to enter into his glory ?

 

27. 이에 모세와 및 모든 선지자의 글로 시작하여 모든 성경에 쓴 바 자기에 관한 것을 자세히 설명하시니라

  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets , he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself .

 

28. 저희의 가는 촌에 가까이 가매 예수는 더 가려 하는 것 같이 하시니

  And they drew nigh unto the village , whither they went : and he made as though he would have gone further .

 

29. 저희가 강권하여 가로되 우리와 함께 유하사이다 때가 저물어 가고 날이 이미 기울었나이다 하니 이에 저희와 함께 유하러 들어가시니라

  But they constrained him , saying , Abide with us : for it is toward evening , and the day is far spent . And he went in to tarry with them .

 

30. 저희와 함께 음식 잡수실 때에 떡을 가지사 축사하시고 떼어 저희에게 주시매

  And it came to pass , as he sat at meat with them , he took bread , and blessed it, and brake , and gave to them .

 

31. 저희 눈이 밝아져 그인 줄 알아보더니 예수는 저희에게 보이지 아니하시는지라

  And their eyes were opened , and they knew him ; and he vanished out of their sight .

 

32. 저희가 서로 말하되 길에서 우리에게 말씀하시고 우리에게 성경을 풀어 주실 때에 우리 속에서 마음이 뜨겁지 아니하더냐 하고

  And they said one to another , Did not our heart burn within us , while he talked with us by the way , and while he opened to us the scriptures ?

 

33. 곧 그 시로 일어나 예루살렘에 돌아가 보니 열한 사도와 및 그와 함께 한 자들이 모여 있어

  And they rose up the same hour , and returned to Jerusalem , and found the eleven gathered together , and them that were with them ,

 

34. 말하기를 주께서 과연 살아나시고 시몬에게 나타나셨다 하는지라

  Saying , The Lord is risen indeed , and hath appeared to Simon .

 

35. 두 사람도 길에서 된 일과 예수께서 떡을 떼심으로 자기들에게 알려지신 것을 말하더라

  And they told what things were done in the way , and how he was known of them in breaking of bread .

 

36. 이 말을 할 때에 예수께서 친히 그 가운데 서서 가라사대 너희에게 평강이 있을지어다 하시니

  And as they thus spake , Jesus himself stood in the midst of them , and saith unto them , Peace be unto you .

 

37. 저희가 놀라고 무서워하여 그 보는 것을 영으로 생각하는지라

  But they were terrified and affrighted , and supposed that they had seen a spirit .

 

38. 예수께서 가라사대 어찌하여 두려워하며 어찌하여 마음에 의심이 일어나느냐

  And he said unto them , Why are ye troubled ? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts ?

 

39. 내 손과 발을 보고 나인 줄 알라 또 나를 만져보라 영은 살과 뼈가 없으되 너희 보는 바와 같이 나는 있느니라

  Behold my hands and my feet , that it is I myself : handle me , and see ; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones , as ye see me have .

  And when he had thus spoken , he shewed them his hands and his feet .

 

41. 저희가 너무 기쁘므로 오히려 믿지 못하고 기이히 여길 때에 이르시되 여기 무슨 먹을 것이 있느냐 하시니

  And while they yet believed not for joy , and wondered , he said unto them , Have ye here any meat ?

 

42. 이에 구운 생선 한 토막을 드리매

  And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish , and of an honeycomb .

 

43. 받으사 그 앞에서 잡수시더라

  And he took it, and did eat before them .

 

44. 또 이르시되 내가 너희와 함께 있을 때에 너희에게 말한 바 곧 모세의 율법과 선지자의 글과 시편에 나를 가리켜 기록된 모든 것이 이루어져야 하리라 한 말이 이것이라 하시고

  And he said unto them , These are the words which I spake unto you , while I was yet with you , that all things must be fulfilled , which were written in the law of Moses , and in the prophets , and in the psalms , concerning me .

  Then opened he their understanding , that they might understand the scriptures ,

  And said unto them , Thus it is written , and thus it behoved Christ to suffer , and to rise from the dead the third day :

 

47. 또 그의 이름으로 죄 사함을 얻게 하는 회개가 예루살렘으로부터 시작하여 모든 족속에게 전파될 것이 기록되었으니

  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations , beginning at Jerusalem .

 

48. 너희는 이 모든 일의 증인이라

  And ye are witnesses of these things .

 

49. 볼지어다 내가 내 아버지의 약속하신 것을 너희에게 보내리니 너희는 위로부터 능력을 입히울 때까지 이 성에 유하라 하시니라

  And , behold , I send the promise of my Father upon you : but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem , until ye be endued with power from on high .

【눅24:1 JFB】Lu 24:1-12. Angelic Announcement to the Women That Christ Is Risen—Peter's Visit to the Empty Sepulchre.
(See on 막16:1-8; and 마28:1-5).

 

【눅24:1 CWC】[FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK]
The order of our Lord's appearances on this day was given in the comment on Matthew 28, and need not be repeated. Indeed all of the events in the chapter were dealt with there, except the walk to Emmaus (vv. 13-35). Three score furlongs represent nearly eight miles (v. 13). Cleopas, one of the two on this journey is not met with elsewhere, and is to be distinguished from the "Clopas" of 요19:25. Luke has sometimes been identified as the other, but this is conjecture. The story runs on smoothly and requires little explanation; but, following Stuart, we remark on the wisdom Christ displayed in dealing with the men. He brought them to the written word, and He left them there (vv. 25-27), furnishing no fresh revelation, but expecting them to rest on the old one. What He expected of them, He still expects of His disciples, and the sooner we realize and act on it, the sooner will we have peace.
Another interesting item is the reference to Simon Peter (v. 34) which no other evangelist mentions, but which Paul records later (1 Corinthians 15; 5). The reason for silence concerning it was the question of communion with His Lord that had to be settled for Peter. Could he again enjoy it after what he had done? "That visit settled it," says Stuart: "We say visit because evidently it was the Lord who sought him out." He "hath appeared unto Simon." The effect of this interview on Peter is seen in 요21:7.
Luke is very definite concerning the evidences of Christ's resurrection. "A spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have" (39). There is no mention of blood, for that is the life of the flesh (레17:14), and was poured out when He died for guilty men.
Luke's version of the commission to the disciples is new, in that "repentance and remission of sins" were to "be preached in His Name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem" (v. 47). This is "the gospel of the grace of God" (행20:24), and is to be distinguished from the gospel of the Kingdom which our Lord Himself and His disciples preached throughout His earthly life. That gospel will be preached again as we have seen (마24:14), but not until after the translation of the church, and Israel takes up her mission once more among the Gentiles.
Power was needed for the preaching of this gospel, and it is promised (v. 49), but our Lord must first ascend ere it can be "shed forth," hence the record following (vv. 50-51). This reference to the ascension in Luke makes his Gospel the most complete outline of the four, for it begins with the announcement of the birth of John the Baptist as none of the others do, and closes with this event which Mark alone alludes to but in the briefest manner. Speaking of verse 51, the Scofield Bible says very beautifully, "the attitude of our Lord here characterizes this age as one of grace, an ascended Lord is blessing a believing people with spiritual blessings. The Jewish, or Mosaic age was marked by temporal blessings as the reward of an obedient people (신28:1-15). In the Kingdom or Millennial age, spiritual and temporal blessings unite."

 

【눅24:1 MHCC】See the affection and respect the women showed to Christ, after he was dead and buried. Observe their surprise when they found the stone rolled away, and the grave empty. Christians often perplex themselves about that with which they should comfort and encourage themselves. They look rather to find their Master in his grave-clothes, than angels in their shining garments. The angels assure them that he is risen from the dead; is risen by his own power. These angels from heaven bring not any new gospel, but remind the women of Christ's words, and teach them how to apply them. We may wonder that these disciples, who believed Jesus to be the Son of God and the true Messiah, who had been so often told that he must die, and rise again, and then enter into his glory, who had seen him more than once raise the dead, yet should be so backward to believe his raising himself. But all our mistakes in religion spring from ignorance or forgetfulness of the words Christ has spoken. Peter now ran to the sepulchre, who so lately ran from his Master. He was amazed. There are many things puzzling and perplexing to us, which would be plain and profitable, if we rightly understood the words of Christ.

13. two of them—One was Cleopas (Lu 24:18); who the other was is mere conjecture.
Emmaus—about seven and a half miles from Jerusalem. They probably lived there and were going home after the Passover.

 

【눅24:13 MHCC】This appearance of Jesus to the two disciples going to Emmaus, happened the same day that he rose from the dead. It well becomes the disciples of Christ to talk together of his death and resurrection; thus they may improve one another's knowledge, refresh one another's memory, and stir up each other's devout affections. And where but two together are well employed in work of that kind, he will come to them, and make a third. Those who seek Christ, shall find him: he will manifest himself to those that inquire after him; and give knowledge to those who use the helps for knowledge which they have. No matter how it was, but so it was, they did not know him; he so ordering it, that they might the more freely discourse with him. Christ's disciples are often sad and sorrowful, even when they have reason to rejoice; but through the weakness of their faith, they cannot take the comfort offered to them. Though Christ is entered into his state of exaltation, yet he notices the sorrows of his disciples, and is afflicted in their afflictions. Those are strangers in Jerusalem, that know not of the death and sufferings of Jesus. Those who have the knowledge of Christ crucified, should seek to spread that knowledge. Our Lord Jesus reproved them for the weakness of their faith in the Scriptures of the Old Testament. Did we know more of the Divine counsels as far as they are made known in the Scriptures, we should not be subject to the perplexities we often entangle ourselves in. He shows them that the sufferings of Christ were really the appointed way to his glory; but the cross of Christ was that to which they could not reconcile themselves. Beginning at Moses, the first inspired writer of the Old Testament, Jesus expounded to them the things concerning himself. There are many passages throughout all the Scriptures concerning Christ, which it is of great advantage to put together. We cannot go far in any part, but we meet with something that has reference to Christ, some prophecy, some promise, some prayer, some type or other. A golden thread of gospel grace runs through the whole web of the Old Testament. Christ is the best expositor of Scripture; and even after his resurrection, he led people to know the mystery concerning himself, not by advancing new notions, but by showing how the Scripture was fulfilled, and turning them to the earnest study of it.

A doleful tale truly, told out of the deepest despondency.

【눅24:28 MHCC】If we would have Christ dwell with us, we must be earnest with him. Those that have experienced the pleasure and profit of communion with him, cannot but desire more of his company. He took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. This he did with his usual authority and affection, with the same manner, perhaps with the same words. He here teaches us to crave a blessing on every meal. See how Christ by his Spirit and grace makes himself known to the souls of his people. He opens the Scriptures to them. He meets them at his table, in the ordinance of the Lord's supper; is known to them in breaking of bread. But the work is completed by the opening of the eyes of their mind; yet it is but short views we have of Christ in this world, but when we enter heaven, we shall see him for ever. They had found the preaching powerful, even when they knew not the preacher. Those Scriptures which speak of Christ, will warm the hearts of his true disciples. That is likely to do most good, which affects us with the love of Jesus in dying for us. It is the duty of those to whom he has shown himself, to let others know what he has done for their souls. It is of great use for the disciples of Christ to compare their experiences, and tell them to each other.

【눅24:30 JFB】30, 31. he took … and blessed … and their eyes were opened—The stranger first startles them by taking the place of master at their own table, but on proceeding to that act which reproduced the whole scene of the last Supper, a rush of associations and recollections disclosed their guest, and He stood confessed before their astonished gaze—THEIR RISEN Lord! They were going to gaze on Him, perhaps embrace Him, but that moment He is gone! It was enough.

 

【눅24:32 JFB】32-34. They now tell each to the other how their hearts burned—were fired—within them at His talk and His expositions of Scripture. "Ah! this accounts for it: We could not understand the glow of self-evidencing light, love, glory that ravished our hearts; but now we do." They cannot rest—how could they?—they must go straight back and tell the news. They find the eleven, but ere they have time to tell their tale, their ears are saluted with the thrilling news, "The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon." Most touching and precious intelligence this. The only one of the Eleven to whom He appeared alone was he, it seems, who had so shamefully denied Him. What passed at that interview we shall never know here. Probably it was too sacred for disclosure. (See on 막16:7). The two from Emmaus now relate what had happened to them, and while thus comparing notes of their Lord's appearances, lo! Christ Himself stands in the midst of them. What encouragement to doubting, dark, true-hearted disciples!

【눅24:36 MHCC】Jesus appeared in a miraculous manner, assuring the disciples of his peace, though they had so lately forsaken him, and promising spiritual peace with every blessing. Many troublesome thoughts which disquiet our minds, rise from mistakes concerning Christ. All the troublesome thoughts which rise in our hearts at any time, are known to the Lord Jesus, and are displeasing to him. He spake with them on their unreasonable unbelief. Nothing had passed but what was foretold by the prophets, and necessary for the salvation of sinners. And now all men should be taught the nature and necessity of repentance, in order to the forgiveness of their sins. And these blessings were to be sought for, by faith in the name of Jesus. Christ by his Spirit works on the minds of men. Even good men need to have their understandings opened. But that we may have right thoughts of Christ, there needs no more than to be made to understand the Scriptures.

Then opened he, &c.—a statement of unspeakable value; expressing, on the one hand, Christ's immediate access to the human spirit and absolute power over it, to the adjustment of its vision, and permanent rectification for spiritual discernment (than which it is impossible to conceive a stronger evidence of His proper divinity); and, on the other hand, making it certain that the manner of interpreting the \ Old Testament which the apostles afterwards employed (see the Acts and Epistles), has the direct sanction of Christ Himself.

endued—invested, or clothed with; implying, as the parallels show (롬13:14; 고전15:53; 갈3:27; 골3:9, 10), their being so penetrated and acted upon by conscious supernatural power (in the full sense of that word) as to stamp with divine authority the whole exercise of their apostolic office, including, of course, their pen as well as their mouth.

【눅24:50 MHCC】Christ ascended from Bethany, near the Mount of Olives. There was the garden in which his sufferings began; there he was in his agony. Those that would go to heaven, must ascend thither from the house of sufferings and sorrows. The disciples did not see him rise out of the grave; his resurrection could be proved by their seeing him alive afterwards: but they saw him ascend into heaven; they could not otherwise have a proof of his ascension. He lifted up his hands, and blessed them. He did not go away in displeasure, but in love, he left a blessing behind him. As he arose, so he ascended, by his own power. They worshipped him. This fresh display of Christ's glory drew from them fresh acknowledgments. They returned to Jerusalem with great joy. The glory of Christ is the joy of all true believers, even while they are here in this world. While waiting for God's promises, we must go forth to meet them with our praises. And nothing better prepares the mind for receiving the Holy Ghost. Fears are silenced, sorrows sweetened and allayed, and hopes kept up. And this is the ground of a Christian's boldness at the throne of grace; yea, the Father's throne is the throne of grace to us, because it is also the throne of our Mediator, Jesus Christ. Let us rely on his promises, and plead them. Let us attend his ordinances, praise and bless God for his mercies, set our affections on things above, and expect the Redeemer's return to complete our happiness. Amen. Even so, Lord Jesus, come quickly.

 

【눅24:51 JFB】51. while he blessed … parted, &c.—Sweet intimation! Incarnate Love, Crucified Love, Risen Love, now on the wing for heaven, waiting only those odorous gales which were to waft Him to the skies, goes away in benedictions, that in the character of Glorified, Enthroned Love, He might continue His benedictions, but in yet higher form, until He come again! And oh, if angels were so transported at His birth into this scene of tears and death, what must have been their ecstasy as they welcomed and attended Him "far above all heavens" into the presence-chamber, and conducted Him to the right hand of the Majesty on High! Thou hast an everlasting right, O my Saviour, to that august place. The brightness of the Father's glory, enshrined in our nature, hath won it well; for He poured out His soul unto death, and led captivity captive, receiving gifts for men, yea for the rebellious, that the Lord God might dwell among them. Thou art the King of glory, O Christ. Lift up your heads, O ye gates, be lifted up, ye everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in! Even so wilt Thou change these vile bodies of ours, that they may be like unto Thine own glorious body; and then with gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought, they shall enter into the King's palace!

 

【눅24:52 JFB】52. worshipped him—certainly in the strictest sense of adoration.
returned to Jerusalem—as instructed to do: but not till after gazing, as if entranced, up into the blue vault in which He had disappeared, they were gently checked by two shining ones, who assured them He would come again to them in the like manner as He had gone into heaven. (See on 행1:10, 11). This made them return, not with disappointment at His removal, but "with great joy."
