■ 출애굽기 6장
1. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이제 내가 바로에게 하는 일을 네가 보리라 강한 손을 더하므로 바로가 그들을 보내리라 강한 손을 더하므로 바로가 그들을 그 땅에서 쫓아 내리라
Then the Lord said unto Moses , Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh : for with a strong hand shall he let them go , and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land .
2. 하나님이 모세에게 말씀하여 가라사대 나는 여호와로라
And God spake unto Moses , and said unto him, I am the Lord :
3. 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 전능의 하나님으로 나타났으나 나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고
And I appeared unto Abraham , unto Isaac , and unto Jacob , by the name of God Almighty , but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.
4. 가나안 땅 곧 그들의 우거하는 땅을 주기로 그들과 언약하였더니
And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan , the land of their pilgrimage , wherein they were strangers .
5. 이제 애굽 사람이 종을 삼은 이스라엘 자손의 신음을 듣고 나의 언약을 기억하노라
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel , whom the Egyptians keep in bondage ; and I have remembered my covenant .
6. 그러므로 이스라엘 자손에게 말하기를 나는 여호와라 내가 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼어 내며 그 고역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 큰 재앙으로 너희를 구속하여
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel , I am the Lord , and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians , and I will rid you out of their bondage , and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm , and with great judgments :
7. 너희로 내 백성을 삼고 나는 너희 하나님이 되리니 나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼어낸 너희 하나님 여호와인줄 너희가 알지라
And I will take you to me for a people , and I will be to you a God : and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God , which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians .
8. 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 너희를 인도하고 그 땅을 너희에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하리라 나는 여호와로라 하셨다 하라
And I will bring you in unto the land , concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham , to Isaac , and to Jacob ; and I will give it you for an heritage : I am the Lord .
9. 모세가 이와 같이 이스라엘 자손에게 전하나 그들이 마음의 상함과 역사의 혹독함을 인하여 모세를 듣지 아니하였더라
And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel : but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit , and for cruel bondage .
10. 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대
And the Lord spake unto Moses , saying ,
11. 들어가서 애굽 왕 바로에게 말하여 이스라엘 자손을 그 땅에서 내어 보내게 하라
Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt , that he let the children of Israel go out of his land .
12. 모세가 여호와 앞에 고하여 가로되 이스라엘 자손도 나를 듣지 아니하였거든 바로가 어찌 들으리이까 나는 입이 둔한 자니이다
And Moses spake before the Lord , saying , Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me , who am of uncircumcised lips ?
13. 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하사 그들로 이스라엘 자손과 애굽 왕 바로에게 명을 전하고 이스라엘 자손을 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내게 하시니라
And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron , and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel , and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt , to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt .
14. 그 조상을 따라 집의 어른은 이러하니라 이스라엘의 장자 르우벤의 아들 하녹과 발루와 헤스론과 갈미니 이들은 르우벤의 족장이요
These be the heads of their fathers’ houses : The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel ; Hanoch , and Pallu , Hezron , and Carmi : these be the families of Reuben .
15. 시므온의 아들 여무엘과 야민과 오핫과 야긴과 소할과 가나안 여인의 소생 사울이니 이들은 시므온의 족장이요
And the sons of Simeon ; Jemuel , and Jamin , and Ohad , and Jachin , and Zohar , and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman : these are the families of Simeon .
16. 레위의 아들들의 이름은 그 연치대로 이러하니 게르손과 고핫과 므라리요 레위의 수는 일백삼십칠 세이었으며
And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations ; Gershon , and Kohath , and Merari : and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years .
17. 게르손의 아들들은 그 가족대로 립니와 시므이요
The sons of Gershon ; Libni , and Shimi , according to their families .
18. 고핫의 아들들은 아므람과 이스할과 헤브론과 웃시엘이요 고핫의 수는 일백삼십삼 세이었으며
And the sons of Kohath ; Amram , and Izhar , and Hebron , and Uzziel : and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years .
19. 므라리의 아들은 마흘리와 무시니 이들은 그 연치대로 레위의 족장이요
And the sons of Merari ; Mahali and Mushi : these are the families of Levi according to their generations .
20. 아므람이 그 아비의 누이 요게벳을 아내로 취하였고 그가 아론과 모세를 낳았으며 아므람의 수는 일백삼십칠 세이었으며
And Amram took him Jochebed his father’s sister to wife ; and she bare him Aaron and Moses : and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years .
21. 이스할의 아들은 고라와 네벡과 시그리요
And the sons of Izhar ; Korah , and Nepheg , and Zichri .
22. 웃시엘의 아들은 미사엘과 엘사반과 시드리요
And the sons of Uzziel ; Mishael , and Elzaphan , and Zithri .
23. 아론이 암미나답의 딸 나손의 누이 엘리세바를 아내로 취하였고 그가 나답과 아비후와 엘르아살과 이다말을 낳았으며
And Aaron took him Elisheba , daughter of Amminadab , sister of Naashon , to wife ; and she bare him Nadab , and Abihu , Eleazar , and Ithamar .
24. 고라의 아들은 앗실과 엘가나와 아비아삽이니 이들은 고라 사람의 족장이요
And the sons of Korah ; Assir , and Elkanah , and Abiasaph : these are the families of the Korhites .
25. 아론의 아들 엘르아살이 부디엘의 딸 중에서 아내를 취하였고 그가 비느하스를 낳았으니 이들은 레위 사람의 조상을 따라 가족의 어른들이라
And Eleazar Aaron’s son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife ; and she bare him Phinehas : these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families .
26. 이스라엘 자손을 그 군대대로 애굽 땅에서 인도하라 하신 여호와의 명을 받은 자는 이 아론과 모세요
These are that Aaron and Moses , to whom the Lord said , Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies .
27. 애굽 왕 바로에게 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 내어 보내라 말한 자도 이 모세와 아론이었더라
These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt , to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt : these are that Moses and Aaron .
28. 여호와께서 애굽 땅에서 모세에게 말씀하시던 날에
And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt ,
29. 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대 나는 여호와라 내가 네게 이르는 바를 너는 애굽 왕 바로에게 다 고하라
That the Lord spake unto Moses , saying , I am the Lord : speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.
30. 모세가 여호와 앞에서 고하되 나는 입이 둔한 자이오니 바로가 어찌 나를 들으리이까
And Moses said before the Lord , Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips , and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?

【출6:1 JFB】출6:1-13. Renewal of the Promise.
1. the Lord said unto Moses—The Lord, who is long-suffering and indulgent to the errors and infirmities of His people, made allowance for the mortification of Moses as the result of this first interview and cheered him with the assurance of a speedy and successful termination to his embassy.

1. Before Israel, 4:29-31.
What is the first step taken by Moses and Aaron on their return (29)? What "signs" are referred to in v. 30? (For answer compa계4:1-9.) How did the people receive their message (31)? What effect was produced on the people by God's compassion?
2. Before Pharaoh, 5:1-23.
How does Moses limit his demand (v. 1 compared with 3:18)? Do you think it was necessary to tell Pharaoh the complete purpose of God with reference to His people? In replying to this question, however, it is well to know that "a three days journey" would take them clear out of Egypt, and that therefore there was no deceit in what Moses said. And by making this smallest demand upon Pharaoh did it not give him the least possible occasion to harden his heart?
How does he express his contempt of the demand (2)? What charge does he lay against God's messages (4)? What new hardships are imposed on Israel (5-14)?
By whom are the messengers now reproached (19-21)? These "officers" seem to have been Israelites placed over their brethren in subordination to the Egyptian "taskmasters." Their Hebrew name, "shoterim," is defined as referring to managers who kept account of matters under their charge. What is the effect of this reproach on Moses, and how is his dejection expressed (22-23)?
3. Before the Lord, 6:1-13.
We receive a stirring impression of the encouragement this interview must have brought to Moses if we consider the several declarations of God about Himself and His purposes thus (vv. 1-8):
I am the Lord.
I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac and unto Jacob.
I have established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan.
I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel.
I have remembered My covenant.
I will bring you out from under the burden of the Egyptians.
I will redeem you with a stretched out arm.
I will take you to Me for a people.
I will be to you a God.
I will bring you in unto the land.
I will give it you for an heritage.
I am the Lord.
What do you suppose God means in v. 3? Of course the literal name "Jehovah" was known to the fathers, but its complete import was unknown. The name denotes not only the eternal existence of God but that unchangeable truth and omnipotent power which give fulfillment to His promises. The fathers had received the promises but had not yet enjoyed them. Now, however, God was about to do what He had decreed, and the following verses which speak of this are explanatory of the name. It were as though He said:
"I am Jehovah, for I am now to do what I have declared to be My purpose." Compare, for further illustration of this name, 출7:5, 겔28:22.
How is the renewal of Moses' message received by the people, and why (9)?
4. Genealogical Record, 6:14-27.
The design of this record just here is to establish the lineage of Moses and Aaron because of their prominence and importance in the coming history of the nation (26-27).
THE PLAGUES OF EGYPT: AN INTRODUCTORY STUDY
【출6:1 MHCC】We are most likely to prosper in attempts to glorify God, and to be useful to men, when we learn by experience that we can do nothing of ourselves; when our whole dependence is placed on him, and our only expectation is from him. Moses had been expecting what God would do; but now he shall see what he will do. God would now be known by his name Jehovah, that is, a God performing what he had promised, and finishing his own work. God intended their happiness: I will take you to me for a people, a peculiar people, and I will be to you a God. More than this we need not ask, we cannot have, to make us happy. He intended his own glory: Ye shall know that I am the Lord. These good words, and comfortable words, should have revived the drooping Israelites, and have made them forget their misery; but they were so taken up with their troubles, that they did not heed God's promises. By indulging discontent and fretfulness, we deprive ourselves of the comfort we might have, both from God's word and from his providence, and go comfortless.
【출6:2 JFB】2. And God spake unto Moses—For his further encouragement, there was made to him an emphatic repetition of the promise (출3:20).
【출6:3 JFB】3. I … God Almighty—All enemies must fall, all difficulties must vanish before My omnipotent power, and the patriarchs had abundant proofs of this.
but by my name, &c.—rather, interrogatively, by My name Jehovah was I not known to them? Am not I, the Almighty God, who pledged My honor for the fulfilment of the covenant, also the self-existent God who lives to accomplish it? Rest assured, therefore, that I shall bring it to pass. This passage has occasioned much discussion; and it has been thought by many to intimate that as the name Jehovah was not known to the patriarchs, at least in the full bearing or practical experience of it, the honor of the disclosure was reserved to Moses, who was the first sent with a message in the name of Jehovah, and enabled to attest it by a series of public miracles.
【출6:10 MHCC】The faith of Moses was so feeble that he could scarcely be kept to his work. Ready obedience is always according to the strength of our faith. Though our weaknesses ought to humble us, yet they ought not to discourage us from doing our best in any service we have to do for God. When Moses repeats his baffled arguments, he is argued with no longer, but God gives him and Aaron a charge, both to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh. God's authority is sufficient to answer all objections, and binds all to obey, without murmuring or disputing, 빌2:14.
【출6:11 JFB】9-11. Moses spake so unto the children of Israel—The increased severities inflicted on the Israelites seem to have so entirely crushed their spirits, as well as irritated them, that they refused to listen to any more communications (출14:12). Even the faith of Moses himself was faltering; and he would have abandoned the enterprise in despair had he not received a positive command from God to revisit the people without delay, and at the same time renew their demand on the king in a more decisive and peremptory tone.
【출6:12 JFB】12. how then shall … who am of uncircumcised lips?—A metaphorical expression among the Hebrews, who, taught to look on the circumcision of any part as denoting perfection, signified its deficiency or unsuitableness by uncircumcision. The words here express how painfully Moses felt his want of utterance or persuasive oratory. He seems to have fallen into the same deep despondency as his brethren, and to be shrinking with nervous timidity from a difficult, if not desperate, cause. If he had succeeded so ill with the people, whose dearest interests were all involved, what better hope could he entertain of his making more impression on the heart of a king elated with pride and strong in the possession of absolute power? How strikingly was the indulgent forbearance of God displayed towards His people amid all their backwardness to hail His announcement of approaching deliverance! No perverse complaints or careless indifference on their part retarded the development of His gracious purposes. On the contrary, here, as generally, the course of His providence is slow in the infliction of judgments, while it moves more quickly, as it were, when misery is to be relieved or benefits conferred.
【출6:14 JFB】출6:14-30. The Genealogy of Moses.
14, 15. These be the heads of their fathers' houses—chiefs or governors of their houses. The insertion of this genealogical table in this part of the narrative was intended to authenticate the descent of Moses and Aaron. Both of them were commissioned to act so important a part in the events transacted in the court of Egypt and afterwards elevated to so high offices in the government and Church of God, that it was of the utmost importance that their lineage should be accurately traced. Reuben and Simeon being the oldest of Jacob's sons, a passing notice is taken of them, and then the historian advances to the enumeration of the principal persons in the house of Levi [출6:16-19].
【출6:14 MHCC】Moses and Aaron were Israelites; raised up unto them of their brethren, as Christ also should be, who was to be the Prophet and Priest, the Redeemer and Lawgiver of the people of Israel. Moses returns to his narrative, and repeats the charge God had given him to deliver his message to Pharaoh, and his objection against it. Those who have spoken unadvisedly with their lips ought to reflect upon it with regret, as Moses seems to do here. “Uncircumcised,” is used in Scripture to note the unsuitableness there may be in any thing to answer its proper purpose; as the carnal heart and depraved nature of fallen man are wholly unsuited to the services of God, and to the purposes of his glory. It is profitable to place no confidence in ourselves, all our sufficiency must be in the Lord. We never can trust ourselves too little, or our God too much. I can do nothing by myself, said the apostle, but I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

【출6:23 JFB】23. Elisheba—that is, Elizabethan. These minute particulars recorded of the family of Aaron, while he has passed over his own, indicate the real modesty of Moses. An ambitious man or an impostor would have acted in a different manner.
