■ 시편 143장
1. 다윗의 시 여호와여 내 기도를 들으시며 내 간구에 귀를 기울이시고 주의 진실과 의로 내게 응답하소서
A Psalm of David . Hear my prayer , O Lord , give ear to my supplications : in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness .
2. 주의 종에게 심판을 행치 마소서 주의 목전에는 의로운 인생이 하나도 없나이다
And enter not into judgment with thy servant : for in thy sight shall no man living be justified .
3. 원수가 내 영혼을 핍박하며 내 생명을 땅에 엎어서 나로 죽은지 오랜 자 같이 흑암한 곳에 거하게 하였나이다
For the enemy hath persecuted my soul ; he hath smitten my life down to the ground ; he hath made me to dwell in darkness , as those that have been long dead .
4. 그러므로 내 심령이 속에서 상하며 내 마음이 속에서 참담하니이다
Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate .
5. 내가 옛날을 기억하고 주의 모든 행하신 것을 묵상하며 주의 손의 행사를 생각하고
I remember the days of old ; I meditate on all thy works ; I muse on the work of thy hands .
6. 주를 향하여 손을 펴고 내 영혼이 마른 땅 같이 주를 사모하나이다(셀라)
I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land . Selah .
7. 여호와여 속히 내게 응답하소서 내 영혼이 피곤하니이다 주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기지 마소서 내가 무덤에 내려가는 자 같을까 두려워하나이다
Hear me speedily , O Lord : my spirit faileth : hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit .
8. 아침에 나로 주의 인자한 말씀을 듣게 하소서 내가 주를 의뢰함이니이다 나의 다닐 길을 알게 하소서 내가 내 영혼을 주께 받듦이니이다
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning ; for in thee do I trust : cause me to know the way wherein I should walk ; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
9. 여호와여 나를 내 원수들에게서 건지소서 내가 주께 피하여 숨었나이다
Deliver me, O Lord , from mine enemies : I flee unto thee to hide me.
10. 주는 나의 하나님이시니 나를 가르쳐 주의 뜻을 행케 하소서 주의 신이 선하시니 나를 공평한 땅에 인도하소서
Teach me to do thy will ; for thou art my God : thy spirit is good ; lead me into the land of uprightness .
11. 여호와여 주의 이름을 인하여 나를 살리시고 주의 의로 내 영혼을 환난에서 끌어내소서
Quicken me, O Lord , for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble .
12. 주의 인자하심으로 나의 원수들을 끊으시고 내 영혼을 괴롭게 하는 자를 다 멸하소서 나는 주의 종이니이다
And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies , and destroy all them that afflict my soul : for I am thy servant .

【시143:1 JFB】시143:1-12. In structure and style, like the preceding (Psalms 104-142), this Psalm is clearly evinced to be David's. It is a prayer for pardon, and for relief from enemies; afflictions, as usual, producing confession and penitence.
1. in thy faithfulness … and … righteousness—or, God's regard to the claims which He has permitted His people to make in His covenant.
【시143:1 CWC】Psalm 135.
Praises God for choosing Jacob (vv. 1-4), extols His power in the natural world (vv. 5-7), and in the deliverance of His people from Egypt (vv. 8, 9) and bringing them into the promised land (vv. 10-12). All this is in contrast to the vanity pf idols (vv. 13-18).
Psalm 136.
Is of the same character as the preceding, but is notable for the chorus attached to each verse -- a chorus with which we have become familiar in other psalms (106:1; 118:1-4), and which may have been used by the people somewhat like the "Amen."
Psalm 137.
Is plainly identified as to its period and design.
Psalm 139.
Is perhaps the most sublime declaration of the omnipresence of God found in the Holy Scriptures. In the light of that attribute the Psalmist is willing to submit himself to the closest scrutinizing (v. 23), and for the reason indicated at the close. Who will follow in his train?
We have now reached another group of David's psalms (138-140) whose structure and style are like some of the earlier ones -- complaint, prayer, hope, praise.
Psalm 142.
Is unique in the historical note attached to it. The "cave" spoken of may have been Adullam (삼상22:1), or Engedi (삼상24:3), but it is not necessary to believe that the psalm was composed while David was in the cave. It may have been written later when his experience in the cave furnished a good illustration of his present need and an argument for his relief.
Psalms 147-150.
Are thought to especially celebrate the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and correspond to the conditions in 느6:16; 12:27 and other places, although their millennial application is not far to seek.
The last psalm is a fitting close to the book, "reciting the place, theme, mode and extent of Jehovah's exalted praise."
【시143:1 MHCC】We have no righteousness of our own to plead, therefore must plead God's righteousness, and the word of promise which he has freely given us, and caused us to hope in. David, before he prays for the removal of his trouble, prays for the pardon of his sin, and depends upon mercy alone for it. He bemoans the weight upon his mind from outward troubles. But he looks back, and remembers God's former appearance for his afflicted people, and for him in particular. He looks round, and notices the works of God. The more we consider the power of God, the less we shall fear the face or force of man. He looks up with earnest desires towards God and his favour. This is the best course we can take, when our spirits are overwhelmed. The believer will not forget, that in his best actions he is a sinner. Meditation and prayer will recover us from distresses; and then the mourning soul strives to return to the Lord as the infant stretches out its hands to the indulgent mother, and thirsts for his consolations as the parched ground for refreshing rain.
【시143:2 JFB】2. enter … judgment—deal not in strict justice.
shall no … justified—or, "is no man justified," or "innocent" (욥14:3; 롬3:20).
【시143:3 JFB】3, 4. The exciting reason for his prayer—his afflictions—led to confession as just made: he now makes the complaint.
as those that have been long dead—deprived of life's comforts (compare 시40:15; 88:3-6).
【시143:5 JFB】5, 6. The distress is aggravated by the contrast of former comfort (시22:3-5), for whose return he longs.
a thirsty land—which needs rain, as did his spirit God's gracious visits (시28:1; 89:17).
【시143:7 JFB】7. spirit faileth—is exhausted.
【시143:7 MHCC】David prays that God would be well pleased with him, and let him know that he was so. He pleads the wretchedness of his case, if God withdrew from him. But the night of distress and discouragement shall end in a morning of consolation and praise. He prays that he might be enlightened with the knowledge of God's will; and this is the first work of the Spirit. A good man does not ask the way in which is the most pleasant walking, but what is the right way. Not only show me what thy will is, but teach me how to do it. Those who have the Lord for their God, have his Spirit for their Guide; they are led by the Spirit. He prays that he might be enlivened to do God's will. But we should especially seek the destruction of our sins, our worst enemies, that we may be devotedly God's servants.

the way … walk—that is, the way of safety and righteousness (시142:3-6).
